New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, has offered up three initiatives aimed at countering what he classifies as the “social crisis” that’s hit America due to so-called Donald Trump-inspired racist rhetoric, telling a crowd of churchgoers in Harlem over the weekend: “We are all immigrants” and we must fight for civil rights.
And one of the initiatives involves the use of taxpayer dollars to help illegal immigrants bring court cases against those they accuse of discrimination and bias.
From the Wall Street Journal:
“New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday announced plans to create a new hate-crimes unit in the state police and legal assistance for immigrants targeted for deportation or discrimination. …“The legal assistance will take the form of a public-private legal defense fund run by the New York State Office for New Americans, according to a Cuomo spokeswoman. …“Mr. Cuomo also said he hopes to expand the state’s human-rights law, which bars discrimination based on age, race, sexual orientation and other categories, to all students in New York. It currently only grants such protections to private-school students.”
Aside from the fact the Constitution and current law already guarantee equal rights and equal protections for all citizens – though not for those in the country illegally, which is the segment of population Cuomo’s taking under his wing – the oddity of these initiatives is that they’re coming in response to reports of Trump supporters painting a swastika and the phrase “Make America White Again” in the New York community of Wellsville.
They’re not coming on the heels of the many reports of Trump supporters being targeted, attacked, beaten and vilified by those on the left for the simple reason of being Trump supporters. A New York man was just attacked on a city subway for wearing a Donald Trump cap, for instance. How come Cuomo didn’t bring on these initiatives then?
Reuters reported more of his remarks:
“‘The ugly political discourse of the election did not end on Election Day,’ Cuomo, a Democrat, told the well-known African-American congregation. ‘In many ways it has gotten worse, (growing) into a social crisis that now challenges our identity as a state and as a nation and our people.'”
But here’s the truth: Cuomo’s not so much interested in civil rights, social justice and constitutional protects for all.
Rather, he’s much more interested in blocking Trump’s law and order vision of governing in favor of furthering the far left’s utopian scheme of opening borders to all.
And he’s selling it as an expression of concern over Trump’s rhetoric, while ignoring the violence by those of his own party and political mind against those who’ve done nothing but cast a ballot for someone the left can’t stomach – kind of like the very hate crimes Cuomo says is taking place in widespread fashion by Trump supporters against innocent non-citizens and minorities.

_____________________________________________________________“‘If there is a move to deport immigrants, then I say start with me,’ Cuomo said, to the mostly black congregants of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York City, the Wall Street Journal reported. ‘If we deport immigrants then I ask, ‘Who is safe and who will be left?’ Because we are all immigrants. If we deport immigrants then the only ones left will be the Iroquois, the Sioux and the Cherokee and the Apaches.”
