PASTOR BLAMED THE 1918 FLU EPIDEMIC
ON THE CHURCHES
(Friday Church News Notes, April 10, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - In 1918, Pastor John Quincy Henry of First Baptist Church in San Francisco, held an outdoors meeting and blamed the churches for the Spanish flu epidemic. He said, “[Churches] have been lamentably weak in moral and spiritual leadership and have not yet risen to the august occasion confronting them. Our churches have become conventional, cowardly and worldly. Not only the people, but the churches must repent their sins, and when they do the plagues will cease” (The American Influenza Epidemic of 1918-1919: A Digital Encyclopedia). The situation hasn’t changed in nearly 100 years. The bottom line today, as then, is that America needs to repent of her wickedness before God, and that is doubly true for the churches. Radical political action and multi-trillion dollar national debts will not solve America’s ills, because the fundamental issue is her terrible sin against the God that has shown her such light and mercy. And the very root of it all is the apostasy, corruption, compromise, worldliness, and lukewarmness in the churches. And that includes the majority of the most staunchly conservative, evangelical, “fundamentalist,” Baptist! From my perspective, most Bible-believing churches in America are lukewarm at best. One pastor wrote to me recently as follows: “Will independent fundamental Baptist pastors cancel their services and keep their church doors closed if this goes on for months? If they do, I believe that their people will get so used to watching church online that they won't see the need to assemble together as a real church.” I replied, “I would say that if church members would stop attending church because of a few week’s closure, they shouldn’t be church members in the first place. That isn’t a regenerate church membership. And this is truly the fundamental issue--the sad spiritual state of the vast majority of so-called Bible-believing churches.” I believe that the promise of God to Solomon at the dedication of the temple has a proper application to God’s people in America today. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). What happens in God’s house dramatically affects the White House. It’s high time to exchange a frivolous, fun and games entertainment program with a thin veneer of religiosity, for a program of serious prayer, serious Bible study, serious Bible preaching with exegetical substance and plain reproof and rebuke, serious holiness, serious separation from the wickedness of this fallen world, serious pilgrim Christianity, serious Christian living in the homes, being serious about the fathers being the heads of the homes and the mothers being the keepers of the home, serious about putting God’s will before economics, serious training of children and discipling of youth, and above all, serious about a regenerate church membership!

360-DEGREE VIRTUAL REALITY TOUR OF JERUSALEM FREE OF CHARGE FOR EASTER
(Friday Church News Notes, April 10, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem has produced an amazing 360-degree virtual reality tour of iconic sites in Jerusalem. It is called Holy City 360 and has been released for free viewing from Passover through Ramadan, April 9-24. The tour examines the sites today as well as in ancient times. As I write this report on April 4, I can only see the teaser clip, but it gives an idea of how powerful these presentations are, whether or not you have been to Israel. They are multi-faith in perspective, so one cannot expect Biblical truth, but the photography alone is invaluable. The music might be a little intense, but it can be turned down. https://www.tod.org.il/en/holy-city-vr/

IDAHO GOVERNOR SIGNS
“FAIRNESS IN WOMEN’S SPORTS ACT”
(Friday Church News Notes, April 10, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - The following is excerpted from “Rev. Graham Praises Pro-Biology Idaho Law,” CNSNews.com, Apr. 3, 2020: “On Monday, Mar. 30, Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed into law the ‘Fairness in Women's Sports Act.’ The law basically says that any sports program affiliated with the state, such as public school teams, public university teams, and sports associations teams will be defined for biological males and biological females. A player’s sex will be determined by their anatomy or their genetic/chromosonal identity. ‘Athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls shall not be open to students of the male sex,’ reads the new law. ... Commenting last year in the Washington Post about transgender ‘women’ in female sports, All-American track athlete Doriana Coleman and tennis champion Martina Navratilova, said, ‘The evidence is unequivocal that starting in puberty, in every sport except sailing, shooting, and riding, there will always be significant numbers of boys and men who would beat the best girls and women in head-to-head competition. Claims to the contrary are simply a denial of science.’” A companion Idaho bill requires that public documents use a person’s biological sex. The bills were passed and signed in spite of massive pressure from the LGBT lobby and from national corporations that threatened punishments.

JACK VAN IMPE’S PASSING
(Friday Church News Notes, April 10, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - Somehow we missed the passing of Jack Van Impe on January 18 at age 88. He started his preaching career in the late 1940s as an evangelist with Youth For Christ. Called “the Walking Bible,” he could quote more than 10,000 Bible verses. In July 1995 he said he had read 10 thousand books in his lifetime. From the 1950s to 1980, he conducted revival crusades attended by more than 10 million. In early 1973, before I was saved, I attended a Van Impe evangelistic crusade at a church in Tampa, Florida. One of my pagan buddies had a believing sister who invited him to the meeting, and he asked me to come along. I was put off by the musical showmanship, and when Van Impe gave away expensive study Bibles to those who brought the most visitors, I thought to myself, “This is why they invited us!” After I was saved, I heard Van Impe speak at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, if I remember correctly. Van Impe was closely associated with Jerry Falwell and moved in “fundamentalist” circles. At the 1976 World Congress of Fundamentalists in Edinburg, Scotland, Van Impe said preachers are “to contend with false religionists in order to show them the error of their way.” But by the early 1980s, Van Impe had changed direction. In his 1984 book, Heart Disease in the Body of Christ, Van Impe maligned fundamentalists as unloving and called for ecumenical unity between all Christians. He republished it in 1991 under the title Sabotaging the World Church. Not surprisingly, since the flow of the ecumenical river is always Rome-ward, he was soon praising the pope. He said: “Let’s forget our labels and come together in love, and the pope has called for that. I had 400 verses on love. Till I die I will proclaim nothing but love for all my brothers and sisters in Christ, my Catholic brothers and sisters, Protestant brothers and sisters, Christian Reformed, Lutherans, I don’t care what label you are. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.” On his September 29, 1992, television program, Van Impe “praised Pope John Paul II, calling him a ‘great’ man and telling his audience that they ought to ‘thank God’ for such a courageous religious leader.” In 1993, Van Impe published Startling Revelations: Pope John Paul II, a video that presented the pope as a defender of the faith! Van Impe continued to praise the pope until his death, even though he had devoted himself wholly to Mary. Van Impe is yet another illustration of the truth of 1 Corinthians 15:33, “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” Van Impe specialized in speculative prophecy in his weekly television program Jack Van Impe Presents (co-hosted by his wife Rexella) and his magazine Perhaps Today. His video A.D. 2000 - The End came near to setting a date for the Lord’s return. He suffered a lot in the last 15 years, total knee replacements, cancer, stomach ulcers, a severe sepsis attack, triple by-pass surgery, and a broken hip.

THE WORLD PASSETH AWAY
(Friday Church News Notes, April 10, 2020, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (1 John 2:15-17). The verb “passeth” is present indicative middle. The present tense is a continuous tense. So the world is passing away. The indicative mood “asserts something which is occurring while the speaker is making the statement.” So the world system is passing away at this time. The middle voice tells us that the world is passing away “by an action acting upon itself or concerning itself.” So the world is being passed away. We know that the world is not passing itself away, and we know that the god of this world is not passing it away. Rather, it is God who is passing the world away. He holds the reins. He is using this present world system for His eternal plans and glory, and it will be finished exactly when God decides, to be replaced by Christ’s kingdom. The prophet Daniel described the end of this present world system. In the dream given to Nebuchadnezzar, it was depicted as a great image of a man representing the ruling empires of Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome (Da. 2:31-35). Daniel’s interpretation explains that Rome continues in various forms until the return of Christ, at which time the world system will be crushed and replaced with Christ’s righteous kingdom. “Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth” (Da. 2:34-35). Bible commentator Robert Lenski says, “The world is now in the act of passing away. It is its very nature not to last. Its doom is overtaking it. Its glory is fading, its flowers are withering, its promises are failing, its hopes are crumbling. Isa. 14:11. ... Does the siren voice of the world tickle your ears? Hear the word of truth: ‘The world is passing away!’ The bank is breaking, it was never solvent--will you deposit in it? The foundation is tottering, it was never solid but only sham--will you build on it? The mountain is rumbling, quaking, it was never anything but volcanic, ready to blow off its head at any time--will you build your city there?”

SUPER BOWL IDOLATRY
(Friday Church News Notes, February 7, 2020, www.wayoflife.orgfbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
The Super Bowl is one of modern America’s gods. Viewership peaked at 115 million in 2014, but it still remains at about 100 million. It is not just a football game, it is a forum for the promotion of moral wickedness and humanistic philosophy. It is purposefully held on Sunday, a brash affront to the God who designated Sunday as “the Lord’s Day.” For many years, the halftime show has been “essentially a celebration of gay pride.” This year, one of the commercial spots featured “pro-homosexual drag queens bent on indoctrinating your children into a pro-LGBTQ lifestyle” (whereas an anti-abortion commercial was deemed inappropriate). The game is primarily about greed, but the environment is permeated with foul speech, drinking, gambling, half-nakedness, rock & roll sensuality, a “live as you please” philosophy (with a thin veneer of “Jesus is my buddy and he helped me win” Christianity). Fox made $412 million in advertising revenue this year, and the host city, Miami, received a $500 million economic impact. The price of a single ticket is more than $6,000. Anheuser-Busch has spent $441 million on Super Bowl advertising since 2006. Super Bowl fans consume 52 million cases of beer. About 23 million people (7% of the population) place wagers on the game, totaling $6.8 BILLION. The Super Bowl does not stir up righteous affections. It’s all about “inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry” (Colossians 3:5). A pastor who stopped watching Super Bowl in 2008 said, “It has become an intensified concentration of vulgarity and ego, with enough athletics in the game and cleverness in the commercials to trick me into watching. It’s simply not what I’m living for.” To that we say, Amen. We would like to know how one can obey the following Scripture while participating in the Super Bowl. “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” (Ephesians 5:11).

SUPER BOWL HALF TIME: JENNIFER LOPEZ REPLACES JESUS ON CROSS, WORSHIPED AS SEX GODDESS

(Friday Church News Notes, February 7, 2020, www.wayoflife.orgfbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
The following is excerpted from “Christians Clap and Cheer,” Reformation Charlotte, Feb. 3, 2020: “The Super Bowl Halftime Show during the NFL game last night may have been the most blasphemous production ever put on by a major world organization. As the show was riddled with sex--and references to sex--it is clear that Americans have exchanged the true God for a god of lust. ... During the show, Jennifer Lopez put on a pole dance performance and presented herself as a sex object for the world to watch. ... during the performance, it appears she is raised up on what looks like a pose on the cross of Jesus while the surrounding people fall down on their faces in simulated worship. [And there was an obvious depiction of the two crosses that were on either side of Jesus.] Anyone who thinks this wasn’t by design is foolish.”

DEMOCRAT PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDERS
ARE A GREAT DANGER TO
FIRST AMENDMENT LIBERTIES

(Friday Church News Notes, February 7, 2020, www.wayoflife.orgfbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
We don’t spend much time writing about politics, but the Democrat party has become a clear and present danger to religious liberty in America by its 100% support of homosexual rights. Consider two of the top Democrat presidential contenders. Elizabeth Warren promises to fill at least half of her cabinet “by women and non binary people” (transexuals) (Pulpit and Pen, Jan. 27, 2020). She also vows that her nominee for Secretary of Education must be interviewed and approved by a nine-year-old transgender child (“Elizabeth Warren Vows,” The Washington Times, Jan. 30, 2020). Yet she insanely calls her platform “Restoring Integrity and Competence to Government.” Meanwhile, Joe Biden tweets, “Let’s be clear: Transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time. There is no room for compromise when it comes to basic human rights” (@JoeBiden, Jan. 26, 2020). Of course, there is no such thing as a transgender. One is either male or female, as determined by biology.

BRITISH TEENS ENCOUNTER MORE PORN
ON SNAPCHAT THAN PORN SITES;
PARENTS IN DENIAL

(Friday Church News Notes, February 7, 2020, www.wayoflife.orgfbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
A new study by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) found that “viewing pornography has been normalised among children from their mid-teens onwards, with more encountering it on networks such as Snapchat and WhatsApp than on dedicated pornography sites” (“Porn survey reveals extent of UK teenagers’ viewing habits,” The Guardian, Jan. 31, 2020). “The report’s authors concluded that parents of 16- to 17-year-olds were either in denial or largely unaware of what their child viewed online, with the parents of teenage girls the most likely to be unaware their children were watching pornography. ... While 75% of parents did not believe their children would have watched pornography, the majority of these parents’ children told the researchers that they had viewed adult material.”

PARENTS NEGLECTING CHILDREN FOR SMARTPHONES

(Friday Church News Notes, February 7, 2020, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
The following is excerpted from “Your smartphone is making you stupid, antisocial and unhealthy,” The Globe and Mail, Apr. 10, 2018: “Catherine Steiner-Adair, a clinical psychologist and research associate in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, interviewed 1,000 kids between the ages of 4 and 18 for her 2013 book The Big Disconnect. Many of them said they no longer run to the door to greet their parents because the adults are so often on their phones when they get home. And it gets worse once they’re through the door. One of the smartphone’s terrible, mysterious powers, from a child’s perspective, is its ability ‘to pull you away instantly, anywhere, anytime,’ Dr. Steiner-Adair writes. Because what’s happening on the smartphone screen is inscrutable to others, parents often seem to have simply gotten sucked into another dimension, leaving their kid behind. ‘To children, the feeling is often one of endless frustration, fatigue and loss.’”

FATHER OF TEXAS BOY WHOSE MOTHER WANTED TO “TRANSITION” HIM TO A GIRL WINS IN COURT

(Friday Church News Notes, February 7, 2020, 2020, www.wayoflife.orgfbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
The following is excerpted from “Father of 7-Year-Old,” Daily Wire, Feb. 1, 2020: “On Thursday, a Texas court ruled in favor of Jeff Younger, the father of James Younger, the seven-year-old whose pediatrician mother was attempting to medically transition her son into a girl. Dallas Judge Mary Brown upheld an October decision that gave both parents conservatorship over their child and denied the mother’s request that the case revert to the October 21 11-1 jury decision that gave her sole managing conservatorship. That decision was later overruled by Judge Kim Cooks, who ruled that conservatorship would be split evenly between both parents. ... Jeff Younger said Georgulas had been pushing their son to transition after their divorce. He claimed that when his son was three years old, his mother locked him in his bedroom and told him, ‘monsters only eat boys.’ He also said she had forced James to wear dresses.”

FRANKLIN GRAHAM BANNED FROM VENUES IN ENGLAND, WALES, SCOTLAND FOR “HATE SPEECH” ON PRESSURE FROM HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVISTS

(Friday Church News Notes, February 7, 2020, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
The following is excerpted from Pulpit & Pen, Jan. 27, 2020: “[A] prominent Liverpool venue just canceled American evangelist, Franklin Graham, for preaching ‘hate.’ By ‘hate,’ the ACC Liverpool venue means Graham’s preaching of the Bible when it comes to various sin issues like homosexuality. [ACC Liverpool tweeted,] ‘Over the past few days we have been made aware of a number of statements which we consider to be incompatible with our values.’ [BBC reported,] ‘Franklin Graham has repeatedly publicly promoted his homophobic beliefs including, but not limited to, branding homosexuality a sin, claiming Satan was the architect of same-sex marriage and LGBT rights, claiming gay people existing are causing a moral 9/11, declared that gay people are the enemy of civilization and advocates for the highly damaging abusive practice of gay conversion therapy.’ The mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, took to Twitter to rub it in. ‘Our City is a diverse City and proud of our LGBTQ+ community and always will be. We can not allow hatred and intolerance to go unchallenged by anyone including by religious groups or sects. It’s right we have banned from the M&S Arena Franklin Graham. #Love conquers hatred always.’” NOTE: Graham has also been banned from the International Convention Centre Wales in Newport, Glasgow SEC, and Sheffield City Trust.

COLORADO CHURCH WORSHIP LEADERS PRESENT SUPER BOWL THEMED "DIRTY DANCING" PARODY DURING SUNDAY SERVICE

COLORADO CHURCH WORSHIP LEADERS PRESENT SUPER BOWL THEMED "DIRTY DANCING" PARODY DURING SUNDAY SERVICE

GRAND JUNCTION, Co. — A husband and wife who serve as worship pastors at a church in Colorado presented a Super Bowl-themed parody of the “Dirty Dancing” tune “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” during yesterday’s Sunday service.
Fellowship Church in Grand Junction posted the performance to social media, which shows Joe and Julie Tennyson mimicking some of the moves and lyrics from the 1987 film before acting out a scenario where a husband is excited to watch the Super Bowl — but the date also falls on his anniversary.
“I’ve been waiting all season long/Now the big game’s coming on just past three,” Tennyson sings.
“Got a cute dress at the mall/Reservation for our anniversary,” his wife smiles.
“Anticipation in my eyes/Invited all of the guys for the party,” Tennyson gleams.
“Why is he in that jersey/Surely he won’t wear that to the winery,” his wife worries in the skit.
Tennyson then suddenly remembers it is his anniversary, but hopes his wife will get over the clash of dates. She attempts to run into his arms, but he turns and jumps into the hands of a waiting football team, similarly reenacting a scene from “Dirty Dancing.”
Upset, the wife sings out that this will cost her husband “diamond earrings and a cruise.” The two make up by the end of the song, stating that although they have their times of strife, they will always love each other.
The skit was applauded online by viewers, stating that the parody was “the coolest and the funniest,” “the best thing I’ve seen anywhere for a long time,” and that the couple “nailed it” and “[h]it it out of the park.”
According to an outline of “Dirty Dancing” from The Conversation, in addition to scenes where men and women are “grinding and twisting against each other” and engaging in sexually suggestive dance moves, “[m]uch of the film’s plot revolves around an illegal abortion.”
“When Johnny’s dance partner Penny needs an abortion, Baby loans the money to pay for the procedure and steps in to learn the routine to ensure the dancers’ employment the following summer,” it explains. “But when Baby asks her father, a doctor, to help Penny after the botched abortion, he bans her from seeing ‘those people.'”
The lyrics to the original “Time of My Life” include: “With my body and soul, I want you more than you’ll ever know/So we’ll just let it go; don’t be afraid to lose control, no/ Yes, I know what’s on your mind when you say, ‘Stay with me tonight.'”
The site Reformation Charlotte expressed concern over the church parody on Monday, writing, “One can only imagine God’s favor pouring out on this church as this production is being put on — because, you know, this exalts the name of Christ in every way.”
In his book, “Culture: Living as Citizens of Heaven on Earth,” the late preacher A.W. Tozer wrote, “A new moral power will flow back into the Church when we stop preaching social adjustment and begin to preach social repudiation and cross carrying. Modern Christians hope to save the world by being like it, but it will never work. The Church’s power over the world springs out of her unlikeness to it, never her integration into it.”
The late preacher Leonard Ravenhill also once said, “God’s house is a dunghill tonight. It is a dunghill of poor theology. It is a dunghill of worldliness. And Jesus weeps over it.”

JEB BUSH, MARCO RUBIO TWEET SEXUALLY-CHARGED SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW WAS "BEST---EVER", "A+"

Former governor of Florida Jeb Bush and current Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted their approval of the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, which featured pop stars Shakira and Jennifer Lopez scantily-clad, engaging in numerous sexual gestures and with Lopez mounting a stripper pole. Former governor and current Sen. Rick Scott also remarked that the show was “great,” but that “America was robbed” by not including the rapper Pitbull.

“Best Super Bowl half time show ever,” Bush wrote, generating 152K likes as of press time.
“@shakira & @JLo featuring BadBunny & J Balvin with an A+ #PepsiHalftime at #SuperBowlLIV,” posted Rubio, who identifies as a “follower of Christ” on his page.
“Great halftime show from @JLo and @Shakira. But no @Pitbull? America was robbed. #Dale #LoveFL,” Scott tweeted.
View the tweets herehere and here.
The performance at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, which included the songs “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Waiting for Tonight”, was decried by many on social media as being “inappropriate,” “sexually provocative,” “nasty,” “vulgar” and “soft porn.”
“Singers J. Lo and Shakira paired up for a 15-minute raunchfest of thongs and crotch shots and stripper poles and writhing around on the floor,” also wrote Daily Wire writer Joseph Curl. “At one point in the show, the two stars stood side by side and just shook their butts. Cue closeups.”
“And throughout, the female backup dancers were even more scantily clad, while the male dancers went hardcore S&M. Often, there were children dancing on the stage,” he wrote. “The whole thing was more appropriate for J Lo’s latest stripper movie, not prime time worldwide TV.”
The Associated Press reports that Lopez told the outlet on Saturday that she believed God ordained for her to be in the event this year.
“There were many years that I thought about doing the Super Bowl and that it was something that I wanted to do and even where I was talked to about it. This is when God choose me to do it,” she said. “This is when it was meant to be. This is when it was destined to be and we’re ready and we can’t wait. I can’t wait.”
According to reports, the halftime show was meant — in part — to celebrate women’s empowerment and the performers’ Latin American heritage, but some say that it rather objectified women as sex objects.
“We have had so much positive discussion about not treating women like sexual objects, then they go and do this. You can’t cry that women need to be treated better then support this display of sexual objectifying,” one commenter wrote.
Likewise, a number of followers of Bush, Rubio and Scott took issue with their approval of the halftime show.
“It was a glorified strip show. Disgraceful that young girls watching [may] think it’s okay to exploit your body like that,” one commenter wrote to Bush.
“Seriously? You share Scripture everyday! They were literally pole dancing on stage,” another wrote to Rubio. “He was [engaging in a simulated sexual act on] her, and then they brought young girls up to dance and twerk. It’s shameful. My daughter was disgusted; my husband left the room because she was so embarrassed.”
“[A]ny public figure that would go to Twitter to specifically praise that halftime show has lost my respect,” one commented about Scott.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

Super Bowl Halftime Show: Cultural Decay

Todd Friel: The Super Bowl Half Time Show was APPALLING
The Super Bowl Halftime Show was a DISGRACE
The Super Bowl LIV half time show featured J. Lo and Shakira in a racy, vulgar, and totally inappropriate performance for this supposedly family-friendly event. The Super Bowl should never have approved such a trashy performance. In this trashy to classy series, I like to examine elements of our culture that could be bettered and certainly this is an example of one of them.

SUPER BOWL SURREALITY: FOX SPORTS REJECTED PRO-LIFE COMMERCIAL, BUT RAN DRAG QUEEN AD

SUPER BOWL SURREALITY: FOX SPORTS REJECTED PRO-LIFE COMMERCIAL,
BUT RAN DRAG QUEEN AD
BY SELWYN DUKE
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research
purposes:
“Let all the babies be born. Then let us drown those we do not like,” remarked G.K. Chesterton in 1932. That certainly would bring home the reality of abortion. Yet that many would rather drown it out is no doubt a major reason why FOX Sports, after giving a pro-life organization a six-month run-around, wouldn’t air its Super Bowl advertisement. Making matters worse, the network did air a commercial featuring Sexual Devolution activists and drag queens. Welcome to the new abnormal.
It’s not that FOX had a problem with controversial ads, per se, run during this year’s big game in which the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20. The network did play, for example, campaign commercials for President Trump and Michael Bloomberg. One of the latter’s ads involved an attack on Trump; another was devoted to gun restrictions and evoked controversy and accusations of deceit even before the Sunday event. All in all, presidential candidates and their allies spent more than $21 million on Super Bowl ad buys. Money talks.
Except, that is, when it’s pro-lifers’ money. Just ask the group Faces of Choice. It contends that FOX “deliberately delayed approving its application for airtime so that they would run out of air space before having to issue a response to the request,” reported The New American on Thursday.
“The commercial in question features more than a dozen abortion survivors in varying stages of their lives from all around the world, who ask, ‘Can you look me in the eye and say I should have been aborted?’ The advertisement’s youngest abortion survivor is seven-year-old Zechariah Hagan, one of the first abortion pill reversal (APR, a treatment to reverse the effects of an initial dose of an abortion drug) success stories,” TNA continued.
Faces of Choice premiered its powerful new ad at the March for Life January 24 and had hoped to air the shortened version of it (below) during Sunday’s big game.
But while the group’s hopes were dashed, FOX did run a Sabra hummus commercial featuring “drag queens Kim Chi and Miz Cracker from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’” to quote LifeNews.
No, the Sabra commercial is not explicitly political. But if some think this renders it socially irrelevant, it’s not just that what’s assumed is learned best and that all ads transmit “values,” implicitly if not explicitly. It’s that the sexual devolutionaries themselves say otherwise. Just consider LGBTQ marketing strategist Bob Witeck, who celebrated the commercial.
“’For queer audiences, it is an art form and an ‘outsiders’ language,’ Witek [sic] said of drag,” LifeNews relates the activist as telling NBC. “‘Reaching the Super Bowl means taking our language into every home in the nation and millions around the world.’”
“Witeck said the Sabra ad, which could reach around 100 million viewers during the Super Bowl, is indicative of a sea change in the public perception of drag, which he said has been normalized in the mainstream for many years, thanks in large part to the success of the award-winning reality show ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’” NBC continued.
The normalization Witeck speaks of is a tried and true strategy, outlined long ago by two sexual devolutionaries named Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen. In their 1989 book After the Ball, they called for a “conversion of the average American’s emotions, mind, and will” on homosexual behavior “through a planned psychological attack, in the form of propaganda fed to the nation via the media.”
The idea is to bombard people with the images, characters, and ideas associated with the behavior in question until they’re inured to them; also, encourage people to conflate the actor with the act as much as possible (not hard, since people often do this naturally) so that those opposing the act are seen as opposing the actor.
Once accomplished, the next step is to attach such value to the actor — and to the idea of valuing him — that those seen as opposing him (by virtue of opposing his behavior) will themselves be stigmatized, along with their morals. This is how you flip society’s script from virtue to vice and Truth to lies.
Hunter and Madsen mentioned this, too, stating that society’s thinking could be transformed (twisted) so that homosexual behavior’s opponents would be cowed and “effectively silenced” in the future. That future is today — and now the process is being repeated with the Made-up Sexual Status (MUSS, or “transgender”) agenda.
Far from reflecting love, however, the sexual confusion engendered by the MUSS movement devastates kids. A good example is Nathaniel (last name withheld), a teen boy who had the misnamed “sex-change” surgery a bit more than a year ago, shortly afterwards regretted it, and now calls it a “Frankenstein” transition that has “ruined” his life. The MUSS agenda is rending bodies, psyches, and souls, and those in its grip too often meet their end in suicide.
But no other type of child abuse’s body count compares to prenatal infanticide’s, and this is no doubt a reason why so many don’t want to see the Faces of Choice ad. Thus did FOX make the group jump through hoops for six months, taking the coward’s way out. The network ran out the clock (excellent summation here), says the pro-life organization’s founder, Lyric Gillett — and then finally just said it had run out of ad space.
But it’s really just that prenatal infanticide’s defenders are running from Truth. Many people don’t even know that abortion survivors exist. And seeing their appeals brings home that they’re not just real live human beings now, with the capacity for love greatness — they also were so in the womb.
Then there are those who aren’t so lucky. Some of their stories are brought to you in the gut-wrenching Life Dynamics video below (the segment beginning at 8:34 is especially jarring)
But the problem here isn’t so much that we don’t know what to do, but that we don’t do what we know. As Chesterton also wrote, “Men do not differ much about what things they will call evils; they differ enormously about what evils they will call excusable.”

FOX NEWS GIVES PRO-LIFE GROUP "RUNAROUND"
OVER SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL;
APPROVES AD FEATURING DRAG QUEENS

Pro-life advocates are infuriated after Fox repeatedly ignored requests for ad space during the 2020 Super Bowl from pro-life group Faces of Choice after giving the group the “runaround,” while approving a commercial that will feature drag queens and LGBTQ activists. Fox is now claiming it is out of ad space, but Faces of Choice contends the network deliberately delayed approving its application for airtime so that they would run out of air space before having to issue a response to the request.
The commercial in question features more than a dozen abortion survivors in varying stages of their lives from all around the world, who ask, “Can you look me in the eye and say I should have been aborted?” The advertisement’s youngest abortion survivor is seven-year-old Zechariah Hagan, one of the first abortion pill reversal (APR, a treatment to reverse the effects of an initial dose of an abortion drug) success stories.
Life News reports Faces of Choice, which was incorporated in September, premiered its powerful new ad at the March for Life last week and had hoped to air a shortened version of the advertisement during this year’s Super Bowl.
Lyric Gillett, the 28-year-old founder of Faces of Choice and producer of the ad, said she wrote the script for her commercial three years ago, and had been raising money through sponsors to come up with the $5 million needed for a 30-second Super Bowl slot.
“Every great human rights movement in history has been anchored in the stories and the faces of its victims. That’s what we aim to do; we simply want to tell their forgotten stories and there’s no larger mega-phone than the Super Bowl,” she said.
Faces of Choice contends the advertisement shines light on the myth of “choice.”
“Abortion advocates need to look these survivors in the eye and come to terms with the fact that they are human, that their lives matter, and that choice is more than a word: it’s a person,” Gillett said.
Unfortunately, despite repeated requests from Faces of Choice for Super Bowl ad space over the last six months, Fox is now claiming they ran out of ad space.
But Gillett calls foul. She states Faces of Choice provided all the necessary documentation to the network and answered all of its legal questions months ago, and was told they would have a response from the legal department by October, then, when no response was received, late November. Yet no response was provided.
Gillett told the Washington Times that her organization reached out to Fox again to check on the status of the request, and was told they would have an answer with a few days. In mid-December, following yet another request, Fox told Faces of Choice to expect an answer “very, very soon.” Again, no answer was provided.
Gillett believes Fox was simply running out the clock so it didn’t have to outright reject the ad content.
“We were one of the very first people to submit anything to them. We met every single stipulation that they asked for and every time we met the line they moved the line further to request something else,” Gillett told LifeSite.
“I think it’s very clever what they’re doing. If they directly said ‘no’ then we could say ‘this is asinine, look at the suitable ad that Fox rejected’, but they haven’t directly said ‘no,’ they’ve ignored us, wasted our time, refused to give an answer and refused to either give us clearance or simply say ‘no,’” Gillett said.
Gillett adds Fox seemed to deliberately make her group jump through hoops. At one point, Fox’s legal department asked for the identities of everyone who donated towards or sponsored the ad. And despite such an “untenable request,” Faces of Choice provided the requested information. That still did not prompt a response from the network.
She contends Fox’s treatment of her application is exemplary of the concerted effort to ignore the reality of abortion.
Abortion survivors, she says, “have been ignored their whole lives” and are now “being ignored again.”
Meanwhile, the 2020 Super Bowl will air a commercial from Sabra hummus, which features drag queens Kim Chi and Miz Cracker from “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” a significant accomplishment for the LGBTQ community, marketing strategist Bob Witeck observes, as it could reach approximately 100 million viewers.
“For queer audiences, it is an art form and an ‘outsiders’ language,” Witek said of drag. “Reaching the Super Bowl means taking our language into every home in the nation and millions around the world.”
The Washington Times notes the Super Bowl is no stranger to controversy:
Last year, Gillette sent a #MeToo message with its “toxic masculinity” ad. In 2017, Budweiser and 84 Lumber included pro-immigration themes in their spots. Other companies have included shout-outs for gay and transgender rights.
This year’s contest is scheduled to include a Sabra hummus ad featuring a pair of drag queens, as well as two overtly political spots — one for Mr. Trump and the other for Mr. Bloomberg. Each presidential campaign purchased a 60-second spot at a cost of $10 million.
This will be the first Super Bowl since 1989 that candidates have purchased air time, the Times notes, and may be the first time in history in which dueling spots run nationally.
Yet, it seems there are some controversies Fox hopes to avoid. The last time the Super Bowl aired a pro-life message was in 2010 when Focus on the Family aired a commercial featuring quarterback Tim Tebow, whose mother rejected a doctor’s advice to obtain an abortion. According to the Times, that commercial received “pushback from pro-choice groups.”
Gillett was advised by a media buyer that additional Super Bowl slots always become available at a later date. She is hopeful that Fox can still authorize her request so her advertisement would be eligible to be aired if any of those slots become available.
Faces of Choice has launched a campaign urging its supporters to contact officials at Fox Corp.
The group has also circulated a petition for supporters to sign.
