 Transgenderism and Our Children
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

On January 29th 2018, Lighthouse Trails released a new booklet titled Transgenderism and Our Children, written by LT authors Maria Kneas and Lois Putnam. The booklet describes the transgender issue and how it is affecting children. While the booklet does say that transgenderism is not God’s will for any human being, there is no language in the book to incite hate against transgenders.
The day after the booklet was released, one of our Canadian customers ordered 101 copies to be shipped to Canada. We began processing the order for shipping when we remembered reading about new Canadian laws on transgenderism. We pulled the order and began researching the matter. Here is what we learned:
According to a ruling in June of 2017, transgenders are now considered a protected people group in Canada:
The Canadian Senate passed Bill C-16 by a 67-11 vote. The bill adds prohibitions against discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression to the Canadian Human Rights Act, amends the criminal code to extend protections against hate speech and allows judges to take into consideration when sentencing whether a crime was motivated by hatred of the victim’s gender identity or expression. (source)
The bill became law on June 19, 2017 in Canada.
We learned also that Canadian customs has the right to seize any material that would be classified as hate propaganda and that because of the new law, material that speaks against transgenderism would fall into the hate propaganda category. This is described in Memorandum D9-1-15, which can be read on the Canada Border Services website.
Memorandum D9-1-15 defines what is hate propaganda as:
Goods that incite or promote hatred against an identifiable group, by incorporating some or all of the following allegations, may be prohibited as hate propaganda:
(a) allegations that an identifiable group is to blame for serious economic or social problems;
(b) allegations that an identifiable group manipulates media, trade, finance, government or world politics to the detriment of society;
(c) allegations that an identifiable group is inferior or superior to another group; and/or
(d) allegations that an identifiable group weakens or threatens society, in whole or in part.
Because transgenders are now considered an “identifiable group” in Canada, and because our booklet does suggest that transgenderism will weaken our society and bring much harm to our children if it is introduced to them in school, our booklet would fall within the parameters of hate propaganda in Canada.
There is a clause in Memorandum D9-1-15 that states:
Goods that may constitute hate propaganda, through their willful promotion of hatred, will not be classified under tariff item 9899.00.00 if the goods are found to:
(a) communicate statements that are established to be true;
(b) predominately express, in good faith, an opinion on a religious subject or an opinion based on a belief in a religious text;
(c) be relevant to any subject of public interest, the discussion of which is for the public benefit and, on reasonable grounds, are believed to be true;
What this above section means, according to the Memorandum, is that under certain circumstances (e.g, opinion based on a belief in a religious text), those distributing “hate propaganda” will not be prosecuted under the criminal code, but the material is still deemed hate literature and will not be accepted into Canada.
Because it seemed that Memorandum D9-1-15 might allow for the freedom of expression and opinion if it is in a religious context, we made a phone call to the Canadian Customs office in Ottawa, Quebec to gain clarification and spoke to a Canadian customs officer who handles questions about the new laws on transgenders. We explained that the booklet did not incite hate but was warning about the dangers in teaching children that transgenderism is normal and healthy. The officer told us that the way to tell if a particular literature would be deemed hate literature was to substitute the word in question (transgender) with the name of a particular race of people, for instance, black people. So, in other words, if our substitution said that African American people were a danger to society, that would be considered hate propaganda (which we would agree with). So according to this test, if literature says that transgenderism is a danger to society, then it too is considered hate propaganda.
Our conversation concluded with the customs officer saying we are welcome to send our material to Ottawa for review, but he believed with what we told him that our booklet would not be allowed into Canada as it would be definitely considered hate propaganda.
First of all, we find it very disturbing that transgenders and homosexuals have been placed in the same category as people groups, such as African American people and Jews, who have truly been persecuted and hated for merely being whom God created them to be.
While we do not condone hateful and cruel behavior to any group, including transgenders and homosexuals, it is wrong that society (and especially our children) must submit to the demands of groups whose sexual preferences are contrary to God’s Word. Those groups should not be placed in the same category as ethnic or race groups.
What’s more, while laws should protect every citizen from cruel and hateful actions against them (and in all Western societies, laws are set up that way to do that), the Canadian government has set a precedent that eliminates the freedom of speech in societal issues that should be allowed to be debated.
Where will this stop? There are people who want laws created to protect those who practice bestiality (sex with animals) and those who want to have sex with children. Will we be told it is hate propaganda to speak up against child molesting? And what about the freedom of religion? Christians believe that man is sinful and needs a savior and that the only Savior man has is Jesus Christ. Will it soon be considered hate propaganda to send Gospel literature to Canada because the Gospel rejects all other forms of salvation? Will the day come when Bibles (except for loose inaccurate paraphrases) will not be accepted either?
With all this said and in view of our findings, some Lighthouse Trails booklets and books will no longer be allowed to cross the Canadian border from the U.S.
We know that what we are seeing happen in Canada is just a foretaste of what is going to happen throughout the world, and it is just a matter of time before it will happen in the United States. Already we have people in this country who have been sued and even gone to jail for refusing to bake wedding cakes for homosexual weddings or refusing to take photographs of homosexual ceremonies.
The handwriting is on the wall, and as one of our authors said this week when he learned of the Canadian law – “and so it begins.”

LTRJ Note: After posting this article, we received the following e-mail from one of our Canadian readers:
I read online the article on the transgender issue here in Canada. I was shocked, and I cried. I knew this was coming but-now my concern is . . . will you still be able to send your products up here to Canada? Your ministry has help me so much and also it has helped me help others by sharing books and booklets. It’s ministries like yours and others that God has blessed to help others. I sure hope you can still send up here. May God continue to bless and guide you. S.A.
Our comment: While Lighthouse Trails will not be able to send any more material addressing the homosexual or transgender issue to Canada via print materials, we will continue providing our discernment/Gospel material to our Canadian and other international readers. On societal issues such as the ones mentioned above, we know this is the way the world system will continue going. But when it comes to the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and to warning the body of Christ of impending danger through false teachings that undermine the Gospel, we will, by His grace and provision, do all we can to stand and help spread the truth throughout the world. There may come a time when we are told to stop spreading this Truth, and at that time, we must obey God rather than man. May He help us all who love Him to live in the world but not of the world and to always be faithful to that which we are called.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:1-5)

“Rob has no power to widen the path the Lord has made narrow”
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
A new documentary called “The Heretic,” which centers on false teacher Rob
Bell, is set to be released on March 1, and features a number of statements that
are already raising concern, such as, “The Bible has caused so much damage”
and “Jesus would be absolutely mortified that someone started a religion in His
Bell explained in a Facebook post on Feb. 1 that he had been approached by filmmaker Andrew Morgan about creating a film surrounding his work and controversial views, which many decry as being apostate and heretical.
“A few years ago, the filmmaker Andrew Morgan approached Kristen and I about making a documentary film about my work. We have great respect for Andrew, so we said yes, and he began filming tours and RobCasts and events and interviews,” he outlined. “I can’t imagine just how much footage he captured. The result is a new film that he is preparing to release. It’s called ‘The Heretic.'”
Noting that Bell has “raised a lot of eyebrows” among Christians, the production features clips from both those opposed to Bell and those in favor of him, from Franklin Graham, who forthrightly called Bell a “heretic,” to Carlton Pearson, who praised the former “pastor” of Mars Hill in Michigan as being a “paradigm shifter.”

Pearson, a former pastor himself, lost his congregation nearly two decades ago after he came out with assertions that “Hell will not last for eternity.” While his views may not be exactly the same as Pearson’s, Bell’s bestselling book “Love Wins” claimed that the majority of Christian doctrine on Hell is “misguided and toxic.”
“Women’s rights, LGBT, minorities, love of our Muslim neighbors—if those aren’t all basics, we’re done,” Bell states in an interview featured in the documentary.
“The Bible has caused so much damage,” he also asserts. “In many ways, it’s often been an agent of dragging everything backwards.”

Bell additionally claims in “The Heretic” that Christianity is the opposite of everything that Jesus stood for, and alleges that Christ wouldn’t even have wanted religion to bear His name.
“[I]f you think about the religion that’s arisen in Jesus’ name, it is anti what Jesus was talking about,” he opines.
“What kept happening is when I kept going into the Jesus teachings, it took me beyond a religion to, ‘What does it mean to be human?’ And I actually think that Jesus would be absolutely mortified that somebody started a religion in His name.”
As of press time, the YouTube video of the trailer had generated over 42,000 views and Bell’s Facebook post had amassed 414,000 views. While some expressed excitement about the documentary and praised Bell as being “far ahead of evangelicals” spiritually, others reiterated that Bell is dangerously leading many astray with his teachings.
“Rob has no power to widen the path the Lord has made narrow,” one commenter wrote. “If you choose Hell, you literally will have to walk over Jesus’ body. If that happens, it is then you will see the error of your way and unbelief, but it will be too late. … The narrow gate by way of the narrow path that leads to life eternal but few will find. This is because they love their sin and do not accept sound doctrine, but instead heap upon themselves teachers who tickle their itching ears. For no man has the power to widen the path the Lord has made narrow.”
“Rob Bell tries so hard to make Christianity fit into a societal bubble, when he should be doing the opposite. It isn’t societal trends that determine what Christianity should be; it is God’s word. We shouldn’t be changing Christianity; Christianity should be changing us,” another stated. “Rob Bell gives pleasant answers, but runs away from the truth that so many need and desire. It’s truly sad, as I was a fan of his older material. Praying for you, Rob.”
2 Peter 2:1-3 warns, “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you, whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”
2 Timothy 4:1-4 also exhorts, “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears, and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

Charismatic Prophetess, wife of Kenneth Copeland, claims that the Holy Spirit will provide you with flu immunity. Gloria Copeland, who previously claimed her husband could control the weather, said that Christians don’t have a flu season.
Copeland, misapplying Isaiah 53, claims that Jesus bore the flu for us on the cross. This is a common claim of charismatics, and this passage is used to claim that healing is provided for in the atonement. She says, “Jesus bore our sicknesses and diseases.”
Isaiah 53:4-5 reads…
Surely he has borne our griefs
    and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
    smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
Of this, the commentator, John Gill (predecessor to Spurgeon at the London Metropolitan Tabernacle) writes:
Though it is a certain and undoubted truth, that Christ not only assumed a true human nature, capable of sorrow and grief, but he took all the natural sinless infirmities of it; or his human nature was subject to such, as hunger, thirst, weariness; and to all the sorrow and pain arising from them; the same sorrows and griefs he was liable to as we are, and therefore called ours and hence he had a sympathy with men under affliction and trouble; and, to show his sympathizing spirit, he healed all sorts of bodily diseases; and also, to show his power, he healed the diseases of the soul, by bearing the sins of his people, and making satisfaction for them; since he that could do the one could do the other; wherefore the evangelist applies this passage to the healing of bodily diseases, (Matthew 8:17 ) , though the principal meaning of the words may be, that all the sorrows and griefs which Christ bore were not for any sins of his own, but for the sins of his people; wherefore these griefs and sorrows signify the punishment of sin, and are put for sins, the cause of them and so the apostle interprets them of Christ’s bearing our sins in his own body on the tree, ( 1 Peter 2:24 ), and the Septuagint and Arabic versions render the words here, “he bears our sins;” and the Targum is,
“wherefore he will entreat for our sins;”these being laid upon him, as is afterwards said, were bore by him as the surety of his people; and satisfaction being made for them by his sufferings and death, they are carried and taken away, never to be seen any more.
Copeland might also have intended to cite Matthew 8:17, which says, “This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took our illnesses and bore our diseases’.” This is a citation from Matthew that paraphrases the aforementioned verse from Isaiah.
Again, Gill explains that this is a reference to Christ bearing our sins upon the cross, which is the source of all disease – not that Christ literally took upon himself the disease itself, or that the atonement provides physical healing in and of itself.
While the flu vaccine may or may not be effective, we would highly recommend you not use the Holy Spirit for influenza immunity.
Charismatic Prophetess Claims She Killed Flu Demons With Sword, and 2018 Flu Season Over
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
Earlier in the week, New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) prophetess, Gloria Copeland, “bound the spirit” the of the flu and instructed her listeners to not get the flu shot because they had already been inoculated by the Holy Spirit. Copeland claimed, citing Isaiah 53 and its various paraphrases in the New Testament, that Jesus took the flu for us and that Christians could not get sick.
It’s curious, then, that another NAR prophetess, Patricia King, has been violently sick with the flu. She apparently didn’t hear that Gloria Copeland had bound the flu by faith. She posted on her Facebook page…

King says that she has been fighting the flu for more than two weeks. Have no fear, however, for she has ascended into the heavens to inquire a solution to it.

According to King, her journey to Heaven led her to see clouds of “plague and death,” after which she was given a sword to cut off the heads of demons releasing the plagues of death,” IE, the influenza virus. King wielded her sword to kill the flu demons and they were halted. Then, God pronounced that the flu virus had been “finished.” Then, King explains that she has a new course at the Patricia King Institute which will teach her followers how they too can ascend into the spirit realm to settle matters like this on Earth.
King says that in spite of the medical community saying that the flu virus may last until May, she has personally killed it and it’s going to diminish.

 Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF), a denomination which splintered from the SBC in 1991 over theological differences, has agreed to start hiring homosexuals for denominational staffing positions. There are a number of churches that affiliate both with the CBF and the SBC. The CBF will continue to take into consideration the sexual orientation of some of its position hiring, but not all. The new hiring policy was announced by the CBF on February 9.
The CBF has had a ban on hiring “practicing homosexuals for approximately 18 years, but the policy that seemed scandalously liberal by the standards of the turn of the century (because use of the word “practicing” leaves room for celibate homosexuals) is now deemed not liberal enough. Instead, the CBF governing body has stated that it will “consider” the sexuality of proposed staff or missionaries, but unlike the 18-year-old policy now replaced, it will not ban them from service.
The decision by the CBF follows on the heels of a two-year listening tour called the “Illumination Project,” in which a committee formed by the CBF traveled around the country to listen to Baptist churches and determine what they felt was the best practice for the denomination. In turn, the CBF committee created a 43-page document called Honoring Autonomy and Reflecting Fellowship, which says, “[The committee] recognizes that the CBF will consider human sexuality as one factor among many for some positions, including field personnel, those who supervise field personnel and certain ministry/missions leadership positions at CBF Global in Decatur.”
Effectively, this means that homosexuals may be hired by CBF at the whim of those making the hiring decisions, with the previous explicit prohibition against hiring practicing homosexuals now removed. According to Bob Allen at Baptist News Global, this is because the Illumination Project Committee found “the ‘vast majority’ of CBF churches do not have policies explicitly prohibiting employment on matters of human sexuality, and it maintained that the new policy is consistent with that.
The Illumination Project Committee found numerous LGBT impastors serving CBF churches, and so the committee’s report claimed the changes would be in keeping with the understanding on sexuality by CBF churches. Instead of focusing on homosexuality, hiring decisions will be based upon “celibacy in singleness or faithfulness in marriage.” Conceivably, “faithful” homosexual couples would be eligible for mission service.
Baptist News Global writes…
The policy expects CBF employees “to have the highest moral character, displaying professionalism and a commitment to the highest ethical standards.” That includes “acting with integrity, being a faithful steward of resources, speaking truth in love, embracing accountability, facilitating fairness, supporting and encouraging peers, nurturing a community of respect, and establishing collaborative relationships.”
Employees must “live out their Christ-centered relationship both inside and outside the workplace, serving as active members of their local church as well as through service to their community.”
CBF Executive Coordinator Suzii Paynter said the new policy shifts the focus from sexuality to Jesus.
“We are a Fellowship, a big tent of faithful believers and autonomous, innovative churches in partnership,” Paynter said. “While we do not agree on everything, we have shown Baptists and others that we can come together in a relatively short amount of time, focus on what unites us and come out of it poised for a bright future.”
The Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists called the new hiring policy “a step in the right direction” but said it falls short of the threshold of “total inclusivity.”
For these Baptists, moral character and commitment to ethical standards have nothing to do with sexuality.

 Outback Steakhouse

National Rifle Association Institute For Legislative Action (NRA-ILA)
National Rifle Association Institute For Legislative Action (NRA-ILA)
Fairfax, VA – -( The word “Outback” used to conjure images of Australia’s tenacious frontier spirit; of hunters, ranchers, and other adventurers who carved out a harsh existence from an unforgiving land.
Thanks to a decades-long campaign to distance the island nation from certain elements of its rugged heritage and the proliferation of an Australian-themed casual dining restaurant chain, today the word “Outback” is more likely to bring to mind a 3,000 calorie deep-fried onion.
Despite its namesake and decor, culinary critics have long questioned whether Outback Steakhouse offers an authentic Down Under dining experience.

However, these detractors should know that in recent years the chain has gone to great lengths to replicate for their guests Australia’s culture of civilian disarmament by prohibiting diners from carrying firearms onto the premises.

This commitment to reproducing Australia’s defenseless society is so profound that earlier this month a uniformed law enforcement officer was asked to leave an Outback in Cleveland, Tenn. because he was armed.
The incident occurred when Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency Officer Andrew Ward and his wife went to the restaurant for dinner. In a Facebook post, Ward explained,
I was approached by the manager and asked if I would put my gun in my truck. I let her know that I couldn’t because I was in uniform. She then went and made a call and came back and we were asked to leave because Outback is a gun free zone.
Rightfully disturbed by the encounter, Ward added,
What is this country coming to? A uniformed Law Enforcement Officer who is sworn to protect and serve the public, is refused service because they have a firearm! I am disgusted and have no other words!!!
In an update to his initial post, Ward noted that he was asked to leave after Outback management bent to the will of an unhinged customer. According to Ward, “There was another customer who was ‘scared for her life’… because ‘police are shooting people.’” Ward explained that “the customer went on to demand to be escorted to her vehicle out of fear of being shot.”

Outback Steakhouse Refuses Law Enforcement Officer Because he is Armed WTF?
Outback Steakhouse Refuses Law Enforcement Officer Because he is Armed WTF?
Given the decades of statistics showing the law-abiding character of Right-to-Carry permit holders, Outback’s gun free zone policy is foolish. However, that the company would cite their gun-free policy as justification to yield to the ravings of an unreasonable individual to the detriment of a uniformed law enforcement officer is radical.
There is a general consensus that uniformed and ununiformed current and former law enforcement officers should be allowed to carry a firearm for the public benefit. That is why in 2004 Congress passed and President George W. Bush signed the Law Enforcement Officer’s Safety Act (LEOSA).
Under LEOSA, current and former law enforcement officers who meet certain basic criteria, such as carrying qualified identification, are permitted to carry a firearm throughout the country.
Showing the strong bipartisan support for this measure, the original legislation, H.R. 218, had 297 co-sponsors in the House of Representative and passed the Senate unanimously. Subsequent changes that have been made to increase the number of officers able to take advantage of this protection have been similarly popular.
Sensing a growing public outrage, Outback reached out to the Wards and offered them a $100 gift card and an apology. Outback’s parent-company, Bloomin’ Brands, Inc., issued a statement to Chattanooga’s WTVC that contended it is not company policy to prohibit law enforcement officers from carrying at their restaurants. The statement went on to blame the incident on the individual restaurant manager.
While the manager might have handled the situation better, Bloomin’ Brands shares some responsibility for creating the irrational gun free zone policy that the employee was forced to interpret. Outback Steakhouse ads have long carried the tagline “Outback: No Rules, Just Right.” In order to better reflect company values and bolster ongoing efforts at authenticity, we submit for consideration, “Outback: No Rights, Just Rules.”
Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the “lobbying” arm of the National Rifle Association of America. ILA is responsible for preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals in the legislative, political, and legal arenas, to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This is a significant statement since, unless you count the Islamic State, the Ottoman Empire was the last caliphate — the last state to claim the allegiance of all Muslims worldwide, and to present itself as the government to which all Muslims owed allegiance.
But Kemal Ataturk, the founder of secular Turkey, would have disagreed with Erdogan. Ataturk established the Turkish Republic as a repudiation of the Ottomans. He abolished the caliphate and sent the last caliph into exile. He outlawed public manifestations of Islamic piety such as turbans, and mandated the wearing of Western-style hats, declaring that “the civilized world is far ahead of us. We have no choice but to catch up. It is time to stop nonsense, such as ‘should we or should we not wear hats?’ We shall adopt hats along with all other works of Western civilization. Uncivilized people are doomed to be trodden under the feet of civilized people.”
Hats were more than just headgear: because of their brims, they interfered with the prostrations that were and are an essential element of Muslim prayer. He also mandated that Turkish be written in Roman rather than Arabic characters, and forbade imams from preaching anything other than the sermons they received from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which never sent sermons touching on political aspects of Islam. Ataturk placed other restrictions on Islamic practices, and introduced secular, Western-style marriage laws. “Islam,” said Ataturk, “this theology of an immoral Arab, is a dead thing.” But he hadn’t reckoned on Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Turkish Republic is continuation of Ottomans: President Erdoğan,” Hürriyet Daily News, February 10, 2018 (thanks to Fjordman):
The Republic of Turkey is a continuation of the Ottoman Empire, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Feb. 10.
“The Republic of Turkey, just like our previous states that are a continuation of one another, is also a continuation of the Ottomans,” Erdoğan said in remarks he made during a commemoration ceremony to mark the centenary of the death of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II at the Yıldız Palace in Istanbul.
“Of course, the borders have changed. Forms of government have changed… But the essence is the same, soul is the same, even many institutions are the same.”
Erdoğan added this is why Sultan Abdulhamid is one of the “most important, most visionary and most strategic minded” individual that made his mark in recent 150 years.
Sultan Abdulhamid II, the son of Sultan Abdulmecid, died in 1918, and was the 34th sultan of the Ottoman Empire.
Erdoğan also criticized those with “bigoted” viewpoints about Sultan Abdulhamid.
“Some people insistently try to start this country’s history from 1923. Some unrelentingly try to break us from our roots and ancient values,” he added.
Erdoğan said the big picture brings character and memory to a nation.
“We take pride in our history without making discrimination,” the leader added on the day eleven Turkish soldiers were killed in cross-border operations….
Turkey’s Erdogan threatens US forces in Syria with “Ottoman slap”
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
Trump was right when he said NATO was obsolete, and wrong when he declared that it was “no longer obsolete.” At very least, the pretense that Erdogan’s revanchist neo-caliphate, is an ally of the United States, needs to be ended. It is already ended functionally; it just needs to be made official.

“Turkey’s Erdoğan threatens US forces in Syria with ‘Ottoman slap,’” Stockholm Center for Freedom, February 13, 2018 (thanks to David):
“The US’s decision to give more financial support to Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will affect Turkey’s decisions,” said Turkey’s autocratic President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday ahead of a visit this week by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Erdoğan has also slammed remarks of Lt. Gen. Paul E. Funk, the top US commander in the anti-ISIL coalition, who said if Turkey hits Manbij it would face a sharp response. “Those who say they will give a sharp response have not been hit by the Ottoman slap,” Erdoğan said.
In his speech to the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party’s parliamentary group in capital Ankara, Erdoğan remarks came after Pentagon requested an extra $300 million to train and equip the SDF, predominantly made up of the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), while demanding nearly as much to build a “border security force” with the SDF in Syria.
It is wrong to say that NATO equals the US, Erdoğan has continued by pointing out that all countries in the alliance are equals to the US and called on the US to abide by its NATO obligations. “What kind of NATO membership is this? What kind of NATO alliance is this?” he asked. “As president of Turkey, I say NATO is not equal to the US, all countries in the alliance are equals to the US.”
American support for the PYD/PKK has long vexed Ankara, as Washington views the PYD/PKK-led SDF as a “reliable partner” in its fight against ISIL and continues to provide it with arms and equipment in the face of strong objections by Turkey. Erdoğan has also stated that Turkish security forces were taking utmost care in avoiding harm to civilians during “Operation Olive Branch.”…

For media and Minnesota's Somali community, coverage of ...

Here are two salient sections from SF 1722, as introduced into the Minnesota State Senate. The chief author of this bill is Republican State Senator Jim Abeler; its other authors are Republican State Senators Jerry Relph and Carla J. Nelson, along with Democrat/Farmer-Labor State Senators Steve A. Cwodzinski and Kari Dziedzic.
Even though Abeler is listed as Chief Author of the bill, its likely driver is Nelson, who has a long record of pandering to the Somali community.
This bill is based on the false assumption that poverty causes terrorism, and thus showering money upon communities that produce many jihadis (and Minnesota’s Somali community is certainly in that category) will alleviate the problem. The idea that poverty and ignorance cause terrorism has led the U.S. to shower billions on Muslim countries, hoping to win hearts and minds and alleviate what mainstream analysts doggedly believe are the root causes of terrorism. But it has been known for years that poverty doesn’t really cause terrorism at all. The Economist reported in 2010: “Social scientists have collected a large amount of data on the socioeconomic background of terrorists. According to a 2008 survey of such studies by Alan Krueger of Princeton University, they have found little evidence that the typical terrorist is unusually poor or badly schooled.”
In the same vein, CNS News noted in September 2013: “According to a Rand Corporation report on counterterrorism, prepared for the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 2009, ‘Terrorists are not particularly impoverished, uneducated, or afflicted by mental disease. Demographically, their most important characteristic is normalcy (within their environment). Terrorist leaders actually tend to come from relatively privileged backgrounds.’ One of the authors of the RAND report, Darcy Noricks, also found that according to a number of academic studies, ‘Terrorists turn out to be more rather than less educated than the general population.'”
The Times Online reported the following as far back as April 2005: “Three-quarters of the Al-Qaeda members were from upper middle-class homes and many were married with children; 60% were college educated, often in Europe or the United States.”
And here we go again. If this bill is passed, money will be showered on worthless programs that won’t prevent a single Somali Muslim in Minnesota from joining the jihad.
A bill for an act
relating to community development; establishing a Somali community development
pilot grant program; requiring reports; appropriating money; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 116J.
The commissioner shall establish a Somali community
development pilot grant program to award grants to one or more intermediary organizations
to identify and support community initiatives designed to enhance long-term economic
self-sufficiency by improving health, education, housing, and economic outcomes for
Minnesota Somali communities….
$9,000,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $9,000,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated from
the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for the
Somali community development pilot grant program established under Minnesota Statutes,
section 116J.9921. These appropriations are available until June 30, 2022. Starting in fiscal
year 2022, the base funding for this program shall be $0.

“Resistance” is just more of what Hamas-linked CAIR is best at: victimhood posturing. The idea that Muslims are facing large-scale persecution and harassment in Trump’s America is hysterical posturing designed to gain special accommodation. It pays to be a victim in America today, and CAIR plays the part to the hilt.

The banquet was Saturday evening. Quigley spoke and Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs was there. Here are Quigley and Frerichs at the Banquet with Hamas-linked CAIR’s Ahmed Rehab (center):

That photo is one of several that Frerichs tweeted out. He was actually proud of having been there.

Here are two more of Frerichs’ photos:

Yes, that bottom photo features Frerichs (right) with Ahmed Rehab again. Rehab has in the past refused to condemn Hamas and claimed that the U.S. government was fabricating incidences of jihad terrorism. Rehab has also become considerably less flamboyant since posing for the photo below, which he had posted on his personal website in 2001 and I present here unretouched, exactly as it was presented there:

Anyway, why are Quigley and Frerichs so happy about appearing at a CAIR function? Would they be this happy to be photographed at a neo-Nazi function? What’s the big difference? CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements about how Islamic law should be imposed in the U.S. (Ahmad denies this, but the original reporter stands by her story.) CAIR chapters frequently distribute pamphlets telling Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement. CAIR has opposed virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or implemented and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates. A CAIR operative recently called for the overthrow of the U.S. government.
Quigley and Frerichs are both Democrats, but there are plenty of Republican Useful Idiots as well. That any American politician of any political camp would appear at any function of this unsavory group speaks to the confusion of our age, and of how casual U.S. officials have become in their acceptance of hatred for the country they are supposed to be serving.

Visiting the White Sands Buddhist Center in Mims, Florida ...

It could very well be the most peaceful place in Brevard County.Tucked away in a secluded area of Mims, the White Sands Buddhist Center is a magnificent sight you almost have to see to believe. “Every step of the journey is the journey,” a sign reads as you enter.
The 30-acre site just off Aurantia Road is near silent, except for the trickling of a nearby fountain, chirping birds and a soft breeze rustling through the trees. A series of statues rise nearly three stories in the air with intricate displays of flowering plants and paved stairways leading to their bases. The center is open daily from dawn until dusk and all are welcome, said Ron Henderson, a staff member who gives tours of the facility Wednesday through Sunday.
There are currently three massive statues that sit before a temple, a house for nuns and monks, a social dining hall, a gift shop and meditation areas. A fourth will be added in the coming months.
The massive statues include a “Nirvana Buddha,” which depicts Siddhārtha, the original Buddha whose teachings are the basis of most Buddhist practices. The Nirvana Buddha shows Siddhārtha depicted at age 80 just before his death. He has a smile on his face because he is at peace, said Henderson. The statue weighs 40 tons and is about 30 feet long, massive in all respects.
Across a landscaped park, a younger Siddhārtha, depicted at age 35, stands in front of a house that is currently home to one nun and three monks. The statue is 35 feet tall and about 200 tons, said Henderson, and is the largest Buddha statue in the state. Across the pond stands Mother Avalokitesvara, the Bodhisattva of peace and compassion. Avalokitesvara is a female Buddhist figure who greets Buddhists in the afterlife, helping the dead achieve nirvana or become reborn. The statue is 32 feet tall and weighs around 60 tons. She is framed by tall pillars and palm trees, a centerpiece of the sprawling facility.
A fourth statue of a baby Buddha will be added this summer and stand facing Mother Avalokitesvara. It will also rise 35 feet and weigh 200 tons. The statute will be the final addition to the center, said Henderson, and is the result of a fundraising campaign. It costs about $80,000 to get the statue sculpted in Vietnam. It then costs around $200,000 to ship the statue and another $50,000 to set it in place. The statues are made of granite and sit atop a concrete base. White Sands gets its funding completely through donations, said Henderson and money is not collected from visitors. “A plate is never passed,” he said.

(Publisher’s comments: The untold thousands of Chin Baptists and other Christian believers who have escaped from Buddhist persecution, and are now in the U.S., might have something to say about how peaceful the Buddhist religion is.  Like Islam, it is peaceful when they are in control.)

“Mr. Saleh is sincerely remorseful, and he is committed to making amends,” says his lawyer, Deborah Colson.
Saleh himself wrote in a letter to the judge: “I am sorry for my shameful behavior.”
Non-Muslims can only hope that he is sincere in this, because he will be out on the street again in sooner than 18 years, and if he has been practicing Muhammad’s dictum “War is deceit” in these expressions of remorse, the consequences then could be explosive.
“College student is jailed for 18 years after helping ISIS plot a pressure-cooker bomb attack on New York City,”, February 7, 2018 (thanks to the Geller Report):
A college student will serve 18 years in prison after he admitted to plotting a bomb attack in New York for ISIS.
Munther Omar Saleh, 22, admitted to scheming to help the terror group hit New York landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty.
He was sentenced on Tuesday in federal court in Brooklyn.
The 22-year-old pleaded guilty last year to charges of supporting terrorism.
As part of his guilty plea, Saleh admitted that he had sought to communicate with and support the group and assaulted a federal officer.
Prosecutors said he escorted a co-defendant to an airport for a planned trip to join the Islamic State group overseas (the co-defendant was arrested before he could join the group), researched how to build a pressure-cooker bomb and discussed potential landmarks as targets with an Islamic State recruiter.
‘I’m in NY and trying to do an Op,’ Saleh told a confidential source in an intercepted conversation, according to court papers.
Later, Saleh charged, while armed with a knife, at a federal officer who was watching him, prosecutors said.
‘Saleh attempted to turn our city into a staging ground for violent attacks,’ William Sweeney, the assistant director in charge of the FBI’s New York field office, said in a statement.
Brooklyn US Attorney Richard Donoghue said Saleh’s sentence would deter ‘those who contemplate waging violent jihad in New York City at the direction of a foreign terrorist organization.’
Saleh’s lawyer, Deborah Colson, said her client was relieved that the case was concluded.
‘Mr. Saleh is sincerely remorseful, and he is committed to making amends,’ she said in an email.
Saleh, an American citizen, was a college student when he was arrested in 2015.
His case was linked to five other conspirators in New York and New Jersey.
At least four of them have also pleaded guilty.
In a letter to the judge earlier this year, Saleh said he was drawn to the Islamic State group because he saw it as an ‘Islamic resistance movement’ amid the Syrian civil war.
He said he became alarmed and ‘started exercising very bad judgment’ when he noticed law enforcement following him.
‘I am sorry for my shameful behavior,’ he wrote.
In March of 2015, a police officer observed Saleh on successive days on foot at the George Washington Bridge – which connects New Jersey and New York – seemingly looking around, court papers said.
The behavior prompted officers to interview Saleh, who denied sympathizing with Islamic State and also granted them permission to examine his computer, authorities said.
Investigators found the computer contained Islamic State propaganda, according to court filings.
Saleh’s father defended his son, saying that it was a misunderstanding and he had been set up by informants.
The father said Saleh had been conducting simple internet searches….
