TWITTER CEO ENDORSES CALL FOR CONSERVATISM'S DESTRUCTION

Wikileaks Exposes Twitter Censorship of Conservatives

TWITTER CEO ENDORSES CALL FOR CONSERVATISM'S DESTRUCTION
BY SELWYN DUKE
SEE: https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/item/28737-twitter-ceo-endorses-call-for-conservatism-s-destruction; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
Twitter is notorious for hiding its bias with “shadow banning.” But its CEO, Jack Dorsey (shown), has now ventured a bit from the shadows, more overtly revealing his bias by endorsing an article calling for the GOP’s destruction and the “Californification” of the whole country.
Labeling it a “great read,” Dorsey tweeted the piece “The Great Lesson of California in America’s New Civil War” to his 4.18 million followers April 5. Authored by Reinvent founder Peter Leyden and leftist commentator Ruy Teixeira, the article calls “for a complete marginalization of the Republican Party and its voters since they only care ‘about rule by and for billionaires at the expense of working people,’” as the Daily Caller relates it. Of course, billionaires and the wealthy may (during a sodium pentothal moment) disagree — most of them today support Democrats.
The authors’ thesis is that “there’s no bipartisan way forward at this juncture” because conservatives are stuck in the past and resistant to “change,” which, of course, has become a leftist sacrament. For liberals and conservatives are divided, they aver, by two fundamentally different world views.
The latter is true. Never have we been so split over foundational issues. What is marriage? Should sex be (barely) governed by some animalistic libertinism or be pushed back toward the closet? Is sexual dimorphism a reality or are “male” and “female” just part of a “gender spectrum”? Is faith a necessary bulwark of civilization or a destructive anachronism? Et cetera.
It’s clear where the authors (and Dorsey) stand. Emphasizing in particular conservatives’ rejection of the climate-change and diversity agendas, they write, “Let’s just say what needs to be said: The Republican Party over the past 40 years has maneuvered itself into a position where they are the bad guys on the wrong side of history.”
This is a common claim, but it not only confuses bad with good but also history with current events. Traditionalists are certainly on the wrong side of the latter, just as Christians were in early A.D. Rome, late-1930s Germany, and the mid 20th-century USSR. But Rome, the Nazi regime, and the Soviets are now history — and Christianity is still part of current events. “A lie has speed, but truth has endurance,” the saying informs.
Speaking of speed, the authors write that a “political collapse could happen very fast, as it did in California,” referencing the state’s transition from GOP governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and 2005 ballot initiatives — which the writers call the “zenith of conservative Republican attempts to control California” — to the ascendancy of hard-left governor Jerry Brown and Democrat supermajorities in the legislature.
It’s certainly true that demographics and cultural conditioning favor Democrats. Every year we absorb a million-plus immigrants; 85 to 90 percent them hail from the Third World, and 70 to 90 percent of that group votes Democrat upon naturalization. (Welcome to the real reason leftists love“diversity.”) Moreover, the culture shapers — media, standard and social; academia; and entertainment — are brainwashing generations with leftist ideology, which is why Millennials break Democrat two-to-one.
Yet the authors make a mistake. California circa 2005 (and even 1995) was already a very left-wing state, and Schwarzenegger is a liberal Republican whose celebrity status won him the governorship. It can’t be equated with a traditionalist state such as Utah, Alabama, or Oklahoma. With politics downstream of culture, California could experience a rapid GOP collapse because it had already undergone a cultural collapse.
The authors equate what they predict is nigh with Republican dominance post-Civil War and Democrat hegemony during and after FDR’s presidency. They write, “At some point, one side or the other must win — and win big. The side resisting change, usually the one most rooted in the past systems and incumbent interests, must be thoroughly defeated — not just for a political cycle or two, but for a generation or two. That gives the winning party or movement the time and space needed to really build up the next system without always fighting rear-guard actions and getting drawn backwards.... The nation can’t take much more of our one step forward, one step back politics that gets little done despite the need for massive changes.”
This reflects a fundamental misunderstanding — but a common one. While there may be minor movements toward sanity (such as President Trump rescinding regulations), the overall pattern on what truly matters has thus far been irreversible gravitation leftwards. When do conservatives ever roll back anything of significance? There is no viable movement to eliminate faux (same-sex) marriage recognition; no proposal to rescind the thought-control legislation known as hate-crime-laws; no reversal of the ever-metastasizing “transgender” agenda; no halting of the left-wing drift of schools, media, and entertainment; no defunding of Planned Parenthood; and no alteration of our culture-rending immigration regime, in place since 1965. Why, even the recent budget deal was replete with enough liberal priorities so that Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) could hail it as a victory.
Reality: Everything called a conservative triumph is — when not wholly illusory — merely a small movement rightwards on a ship steadily drifting left. It’s little more than rearranging the deck chairs.
Yet the real problem is our widespread failure to believe in Truth. This causes us to trade the correct conception of reality — Truth vs. lies — with right vs. left, two terms with no historically fixed definitions pertaining to ideology. Rightists and leftists were, respectively, monarchists and republicans during the French Revolution yet were something else in the USSR, fancy themselves something different again today, and (along with many conservatives) are confused in every time.
This brings us to “change” worship. The only consistent definition of “liberal” is the “desire to change the status quo.” Yet as G.K. Chesterton cautioned, “Progress is a comparative of which we have not settled the superlative.” In other words, “progress” implies movement toward a goal; thus, insofar as we’re unsure of the goal, we’ll be unsure of the progress.
If we believed in Truth, which is unchanging, and searched for it, we could have a concrete vision for civilization and know whether or not progress toward it was being achieved. But what is leftists’ vision? They have ever-shifting goalposts. Like pathologically rebellious children, their only constant is opposition to conservatives, those rather poor guardians of the status quo. Translation: Their only constant is undisciplined, ill-considered change. Why, a Barack Obama slogan was “Hope and Change.”
But hope isn’t a strategy, and change should be a means to an end, not an end unto itself. For “change” isn’t good by definition, and change unguided by proper principle (Truth) is like a rocket without a guidance system. It’s a recipe for crashing and burning.
But burning with misguided passion, leftists forge ahead with their progress toward they know not what. Dorsey, we now hear, does his part and personally chooses what Twitter accounts to ban (always conservatives). And Leyden, Teixeira, Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and others gleefully proclaim that California is America’s future. They’re given no pause by the state having soaring housing costs, a fleeing middle class, a debt crisis, the nation’s highest supplemental poverty rate, a balkanized populace, rampant illegal aliens, some of the United States’ worst schools, and homeless camps and a rich-poor divide reflective of the Third World. (Video below examines the state’s homelessness.)
Yet these leftists may very well be correct that California reflects our tomorrow. If so, there’s one thing we certainly can say the republic’s future will be.
Short.

PROTESTS PLANNED OVER PORNOGRAPHIC & PERVERTED "SEX EDUCATION" IN SCHOOLS~ALEX NEWMAN & DR. DUKE PESTA DISCUSS
Children as young as five or six years old in government schools today learn about masturbation, gender confusion, homosexuality, and more. Not long after that, pornographic materials created by tax-funded abortion giant Planned Parenthood are used by government schools to promote anal sex, fornication, sadomasochism, and more to young children. Now, a group of outraged parents has had enough. And so, on April 23, they are planning a “Sex Ed Sit Out” to protest it all. “We are sick of the sexualization of our children that takes place everyday in the classrooms across our nation,” organizers said on the website. | Article: https://bit.ly/2qnHndd

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON PROFESSOR PUT ON PROBATION FOR MENTIONING HER CHRISTIAN FAITH IN FRONT OF A MUSLIM STUDENT

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON PROFESSOR
PUT ON PROBATION FOR MENTIONING
HER CHRISTIAN FAITH IN FRONT OF
A MUSLIM STUDENT
BY ROBERT SPENCER
SEE: https://www.jihadwatch.org/2018/04/university-of-washington-prof-put-on-probation-for-mentioning-her-christian-faith-in-front-of-muslim-student; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
This is how Islamic supremacist and Leftist students are shutting down free discourse all over the country: by claiming that it makes them feel “unsafe.” At Stanford University, fascist students and faculty whipped up hysteria on campus in advance of my visit by claiming that my telling the truth about the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat would make Muslim students on campus feel “unsafe.” There was not a shred of evidence to support this claim, and of course no one was harmed in the aftermath of my appearance there, which was disrupted in any case by a planned and scripted walkout in which administrators made sure as few people as possible would hear me by preventing others who wanted to attend from entering after the walkout. This is life on university campuses today: American universities are no longer centers of higher learning, but are radioactive wastelands of hard-Left indoctrination. This holds true not just for huge universities such as Stanford, but also even for the smallest and ostensibly faith-based schools, such as Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. Everywhere the hard-Left indoctrination is dominant, and there is little to no actual education going on.
“UW administrator: ‘Do you read your Bible on campus?!,’” Todd Herman Show, April 10, 2018 (thanks to Undaunted):
Susana Asberry has been a full-time instructor at the University of Washington since 2006. She teaches English as a second language. On Monday, she shared exclusively with us how she has been put on probation for daring to mention God in direct response to a question from a student.
Asberry also helped students in an argumentative essay writing class debate against gay marriage — a topic the students chose to address. As of Tuesday, she is being sent to what amounts to a re-education session. She is accused of being discriminatory and even racist. Asberry is white and married to a black man. Their children are bi-racial. She says she is being censored and feels threatened.
How did this all start? During a writing unit that involved American slang, the students learned about the phrase “bucket list” and submitted their own examples. A student asked Susana about her bucket list and Susana replied: “When I retire, I want to share the word of God with people.”
One student complained. As an observant Muslim, who covers her body as part of her faith, she said she was made to feel unsafe. According to Susana, that is when her career changed.
As she explained on the program, Susana says she was drawn into an investigative process where her Director, James C. Evans asked her in an angry, accusatory tone: “Do you read your Bible at on campus?”
That was just the beginning of her odyssey. I want you to hear Susana, who grew up in the former Czech Republic, describe how she was treated by the University of Washington. It reminds her of how her loved ones were abused by Russian authorities when the Soviet Union invaded her birth Country.
Susana spoke out because she is concerned for future generations of teachers and students.
You can listen to our interview here.
We have reached out to the University of Washington for a response. Through a spokesperson, the University said they will consider making a statement.
I am sharing, below, her letter to us.
In 2015, a female Muslim student filed a formal complaint against me stating that I had made comments about God during and after my class that were offensive to her and that I had not promoted a positive learning environment. Once during this class, I was teaching the term “bucket list” because it was in our textbook chapter, and students had to make a list of what would be on their bucket list and that is when a student wanted to know what would be on mine. I replied that I would like to tell people about God. Another time with this female Muslim student was outside my classroom when she was crying. She was very upset and disclosed to me that her husband was cheating on her. Trying to comfort her, I simply told her that during difficult times, I pray. Her complaint was made soon after she received a failing grade in this class at the end of that quarter. As a result of her complaint, I was summoned to a formal meeting with my Director, James C. Evans and Human Resources, and a warning letter was issued saying that I had violated the UW’s executive Order 31, a Nondiscrimination and Non-retaliation policy.  Disregarding the fact that other Muslim students were in this class and that I had received high student evaluations at the end of that quarter. During this particular meeting, my Director asked me a question pertaining to my religion, “Do your read your Bible on campus?” In the final warning letter, the administration forbade me any mentioning of “God” or referencing to my religious belief such as praying. They concluded that my comments had harassed and discriminated against this female Muslim student. I disputed the incident with my union and only a copy of a letter of this incidence was placed into my employee personal file….
Due to discrimination and harassment because of my religion, my work place has become a hostile environment, and I am now afraid to teach. I did not, never have and do not discriminate against nor harass any of my students.
Sincerely,
Susana Asberry

RICK WARREN RECOMMENDS
WORDLESS CONTEMPLATION

Saddleback Church recommends a wide range of books on contemplative mysticism at its web site.Spiritual Disciplines Handbook by Adele Calhoun, for example, has been listed under the “Spiritual Growth” section for at least the past two years. Rick Warren, senior pastor at Saddleback, pretends that contemplative prayer is merely getting alone in a quiet place to meditate on God’s Word, but it goes far beyond that. Warren says that contemplative prayer is nothing like yoga, but as a former member of a Hindu meditation society, I can testify that practices such as centering prayer are definitely yoga-like.
Adele Calhoun recommends Roman Catholic monastic practices which were, in turn, borrowed from paganism, as we have documented in our book Contemplative Mysticism. Calhoun lists Roman Catholics as “spiritual tutors,” including M. Basil Pennington, Henri Nouwen, Peter Kreeft, William Meninger, Francis de Sales, Richard Rohr, William Johnson, Teresa of Avila, Thomas Keating, John of the Cross, Brother Lawrence, Tilden Edwards, Ignatius Loyola, St. Benedict, Thomas Merton, John Henry Newman, Julian of Norwich. Not only are these deeply misguided individuals laden down with Catholic heresies, but many were led by their mystical practices to universalism, panentheism, and even rank idolatry. (For example, Thomas Merton worshipped Buddhist idols.) Calhoun recommends following the Roman Catholic Church liturgical calendar, seeking spiritual direction from Catholic orders, and visiting Catholic retreat centers. She describes a pilgrimage she took with 30 women in her “covenant group” to visit the sites of Catholic mystics and to study their practices. She recommends a whole slew of unscriptural contemplative practices, including the Jesus prayer (vain repetition), palms up palms down (psychological visualization), lectio divina, imagination prayer, centering prayer, breath prayer, practicing the presence, silence, and spiritual direction. She recommends the use of single words as a mantra to drive away conscious thoughts. “Choose a simple word ... Let this word guard your attention. ... When your thoughts wander let them drop to the bottom of your mind. Don’t go after them. ... Imagine your distracting thoughts are part of the debris floating in the current of a river. Don’t try to capture these thoughts; release them and let the river of God’s life carry them away.”

In describing her mysticism, Calhoun quotes Richard Rohr, “Prayer is not primarily saying words or thinking thoughts. It is, rather, a stance. It’s a way of living in the Presence.” This is not biblical contemplation; it is blind mysticism. Even when it comes to devotional reading of the Bible, Calhoun discourages “mentally critiquing or exegeting the text.” Rather, the Bible is to be used as a launching pad for mysticism as the practitioner refuses to “analyze” it but merely “listens and waits.”

It is impossible to exaggerate the danger inherent in contemplative mysticism, and it is impossible to warn too loudly and plainly of the spiritual blindness of the “evangelical” leaders who are promoting it.

EXCERPTS: "But what does this have to do with Saddleback Church and Rick Warren? What an excellent question “grasshopper.” So let me do some ‘splainin’. In Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) in Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (SBC) you’ll see that the advance of Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism(CSM), which flowered within the antibiblical monastic traditions of apostate Roman Catholicism, into the “Protestant” Southern Baptist Convention under the guise of Spiritual Formation really isn’t any secret.
Nor is the fact that Purpose Driven Pope Rick Warren is a promoter of The Cult of Guru Richard Foster. In Rick Warren Guilty for Endorsing Richard Foster and His Reimagined Gnostic Mysticism I showed you that in Warren’s modern Church Growth Movement classic The Purpose Driven Church he says that from “time to time God has raised up a parachurch movement to reemphasize a neglected purpose of the church.”"
"And by the way, you can also purchase Celebration of Discipline at Saddleback Church along with Spirit of the Disciplines by Foster’s partner Dallas Willard, Life of the Beloved by Roman Catholic priest Henri Nouwen(1932-1996) and Spiritual Disciplines Handbook by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun, “pastor of spiritual formation at Christ Church in Oakbrook, IL,” all found in the bookstore of Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church in their Spiritual Disciplines section right next to the section of Spiritual Formation."

CATHOLIC ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY, QUEENS, NEW YORK CITY HOSTS MUSLIM CLERIC WHO ADVOCATES WIFE BEATING, STONING, CONTEMPT FOR NON MUSLIMS

Kawthari has written that a husband may hit his wife if she is “slanderous or violates Islamic rulings,” as long as it is a last resort and “a light blow that leaves no mark.” In addition, he has declared that women should not leave the home, may not refuse their husbands’ demands for sex, and should be stoned to death if they commit adultery.

It’s noteworthy that he is speaking at mosques, even as American officials largely assume that those mosques reject the teachings that Muhammad ibn Adam Al-Kawthari has repeated, which are, of course, not unique to him, but deeply traditional within Islam. But St. John’s University? Would they ever host a speaker who opposed jihad terror? If they ever did, there would be condemnations, denunciations, protests, boycotts, etc. But this? No one will mind.
“Hardline Islamic Cleric to start U.S. Speaking Tour,” by Sam Westrop, Rabwah Times, April 6, 2018 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
On April 6, Muhammad ibn Adam Al-Kawthari, a British cleric from the Deobandi movement, a hardline South Asian Islamic sect, will commence a three-day speaking tour, speaking at five mosques in New York and New Jersey, as well as at St Johns University in Queens. His most widely-advertised lecture, at the Quba Institute in New York on April 7, is titled ‘Women’s Rights in Marriage.’ The hosts call on their audience to come along and “stand up against domestic violence.” But, with a dark irony so often a feature of Islamist events in the West, the cleric invited to give the talk on the dangers of domestic violence has previously justified domestic abuse.
Such views were likely inculcated at Darul Uloom al Arabiya al Islamiya, a seminary in the city of Bury in England where Kawthari studied. It is perhaps the most prominent Deobandi institution outside of South Asia. In 2016, The Times reported that the Darul Uloom “preaches contempt for non-Muslims and warns of the ‘repulsive qualities’ of Christian and Jewish women.”
After graduating from the Darul Uloom, Kawthari studied further under Taqi Usmani, one of the world’s leading Deobandi clerics. Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, Usmani issued a fatwa proclaiming that “jihad” was “obligatory” against Western troops in Afghanistan. This teaching evidently appealed to Kawthari, who has ruled that jihad in places such as Chechnya and Kashmir is compulsory for Muslims.
Kawthari’s other fatwas and lectures are similarly extreme. He advocates chopping off thieves’ hands, and warns Muslims against befriending Jews and Christians, citing religious texts that command: “Do not commence by greeting the Christians and Jews with Salam. If you meet one of them on a pathway, force them to walk on the side.” In 2014, the East London Mosque – considered by mainstream British journalists to be one of the most radical mosques in Europe – even banned Kawthari from speaking at its events….

TRUMP LASHES OUT AFTER RAID OF HIS LAWYER'S OFFICE, RESIDENCE, ETC.

Congressman: Impeach Rosenstein Over Stonewalling

Last week Devin Nunes dropped hints action to be taken over DOJ refusing to provide information. Then this weekend Mark Meadows said Rosenstein may be impeached for not providing information. And, Mueller met with the same Ukrainian president at the same time as Manafort. Will Manafort put the corrupt FBI on trial?
TRUMP LASHES OUT AFTER RAID OF HIS LAWYER'S OFFICE, RESIDENCE, ETC.
President Trump tore into special counsel Robert Mueller after the FBI raided the New York offices of his longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen. Some of the evidence taken involves Cohen's payment of $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had sex with Mr. Trump in 2006.

REPORT: ROD ROSENSTEIN PERSONALLY APPROVED FBI RAID ON TRUMP’S LAWYER

Deputy AG also signed off on improper FISA surveillance of Carter Page

BY ZERO HEDGE
SEE: https://www.infowars.com/report-rod-rosenstein-personally-approved-fbi-raid-on-trumps-lawyer/; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
On Tuesday morning Trump made it quite clear that he was furious with the FBI and Robert Mueller for raiding both the office and house of Michael Cohen, in the process breaching the attorney-client privilege between the president and his personal lawyer.
As the NYT further noted, Trump’s advisers “spent the last 24 hours trying to convince the president not to make an impulsive decision that could put the president in more legal jeopardy and ignite a controversy that could consume his presidency.” To be sure, Trump began Tuesday morning with a pair of angry tweets, calling the raids “A TOTAL WITCH HUNT!” and venting that “attorney–client privilege is dead!”
And now, it appears that Trump can split his anger equally between Mueller and his own handpicked deputy AG, because according to the NYT citing three government officials, Rod J. Rosenstein personally signed off on Monday’s F.B.I. decision to raid the office of Michael D. Cohen.
The revelation comes at a sensitive time for Trump’s mental state, just hours after he reportedly engaged in an angry public tirade Monday evening that continued in private at the White House “as the president fumed about whether he should fire Mr. Rosenstein” according to the NYT:
“The episode has deeply unsettled White House aides, Justice Department officials and lawmakers from both parties, who believe the president may use it as a pretext to purge the team leading the investigation into Russia meddling in the 2016 election.”
There is another major concern for Trump: as the NYT adds, “Rosenstein’s personal involvement in the decision signals that the evidence seen by law enforcement officials was significant enough to persuade the Justice Department’s second-in-command that such an aggressive move was necessary.”
The revelation will not help the growing animosity between the president and the DOJ’s 2nd in command:
“Trump has long been mistrustful of Mr. Rosenstein, the Justice Department’s No. 2 official, who appointed the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, and now oversees his investigation into Mr. Trump’s campaign and possible obstruction of justice by the president.”
In his remarks Monday night, the NYT notes that the president lashed out at Mr. Rosenstein for having “signed a FISA warrant,” apparently a reference to the role Mr. Rosenstein played in authorizing the wiretap of a Trump associate in the Russia inquiry.
Also, as previously reported, Rosenstein was this close: last summer Trump considered firing Rosenstein, instead, he ordered Mr. Mueller to be fired, then backed down after the White House counsel refused to carry out the order.
Trump is now again telling associates that he is frustrated with Rosenstein, according to one official familiar with the conversations.
Still, while Rosenstein must sign off on all moves that Mr. Mueller makes, that is not necessarily the case for searches that are carried out by other federal law enforcement offices. DOJ regulations require prosecutors to consult with senior criminal prosecutors in Washington – but not necessarily the deputy attorney general – before conducting a search of a lawyer’s files.
Meanwhile, as the NYT points out, Rosenstein’s involvement, including that of top New York prosecutors in the Cohen office raid, “makes it harder for Trump to argue that his legal problems are the result of a witch hunt led by Mueller.” In addition to Mr. Rosenstein, all of the top law enforcement officials involved in the raid are Republicans: Mr. Mueller, Christopher A. Wray, the F.B.I. Director, and Geoffrey Berman, the interim United States attorney in New York.
Separately, as ABC adds, the FBI raid was executed by the US Attorney Office in NY: the man who runs that office, Geoffrey Berman, was appointed by Trump, although as ABC also adds, Berman reportedly recused himself from the Cohen probe, yet another recusal that is certain to infuriate Trump.

SCOOP: ABC News has learned Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, is recused from the Michael Cohen investigation. He had no role in raid of Cohen's office. Another recusal that will make @realDonaldTrump unhappy.

ROBERT SPENCER: TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT ISLAM AT UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI; LOSE YOUR JOB~AMONG "RADIOACTIVE WASTELANDS OF HARD LEFT INDOCTRINATION"

ROBERT SPENCER: TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT ISLAM AT UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI;
LOSE YOUR JOB
Among Higher Learning Institutions Which Are
"Radioactive Wastelands of Hard Left Indoctrination"
Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer discusses the University of Cincinnati's firing of Clifford Adams, a music professor who dared to tell the truth about the jihad threat.

Robert Spencer: University of Cincinnati Fires Dissenter

BY PAMELA GELLER
SEE: https://gellerreport.com/2018/03/university-cincinnati-fires.html/; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
The University of Cincinnati has just proven yet again that colleges and universities in the United States today are not centers of higher learning, but radioactive wastelands of hard-Left indoctrination. The university has fired Clifford Adams, a music professor, for touching the third rail of American public discourse today: Adams dared to offend a Muslim student.
Adams tried to stave off his fate, issuing the abject apology that totalitarian regimes require of those whom they have targeted for thought crime: “As I reconsider what I wrote from an online student’s vantage point,” Adams wrote in a letter to the Cincinnati Enquirer, “I now realize that I did come across like a religious bigot and that makes me feel horrible. I have inadvertently hurt feelings and offended many and for that I am deeply sorry.”
What terrible thing did this bigoted boor say? This was, after all, a music class, not a political one, and Adams was asking his students to give their impressions of the song “Walk on Water.” A Muslim student wrote that in an atmosphere of “Trump’s presidency and all the hate he has promoted,” the song reminded listeners that America was “built off the idea of freedom.”
Adams responded: “The U.S. President’s first sworn duty is to protect America from enemies, and the greatest threat to our freedom is not the President, it is radical Islam. Review this list of Islamic terrorist attacks and then tell me about your hurt feelings.”
That’s all: he invited her to examine and ponder some unpopular truths. Adams explained: “I wanted a lively exchange of views and ideas about closed minded bigotry and a discussion about how it is incorporated in modern music through a smart, academic, collegiate argument. Instead, I have given my students the wrong impression that I am a religious bigot.” He lamented in the wake of the controversy that “we would have enjoyed a lively, provocative, scholarly argument.”
Continuing his apology, Adams wrote: “It is, above all, important that it is understood that I do not wish to disparage anyone’s religion. My remarks were intended to amplify our ongoing discussion on the pervasive abuse and objectification of women in today’s popular music culture.”
Despite the abjectness of Adams’ self-incrimination and apology, the University of Cincinnati’s offices of Academic Personnel, Equal Opportunity & Access and Title IX opened an investigation of him. Meanwhile, university spokesman Greg Vehr hastened to contain the damage done by Adams’ venture off the politically correct reservation, assuring the public that the University of Cincinnati was “committed to excellence and diversity.”
Except, of course, diversity of thought. The investigation ended with Adams being forced to resign. What Clifford Adams wrote to the Muslim student was entirely accurate, but truth is not a factor on university campuses anymore. What matters is how much what is being said comports with Leftist dogma. Anything that contradicts that dogma is excoriated, and the person who dared to say it vilified and removed from contact with all right-thinking people.
This isn’t just happening in universities, either. It is rapidly becoming the norm in the wider society as well. Anyone who questions the Leftist dogmas that Islam is a religion of peace and that Muslims are persecuted and harassed in Donald Trump’s America is pilloried and destroyed. The freedom of speech is a despised and misunderstood concept, as it has become widely accepted that “hate speech” is not protected by the First Amendment, and the slightest negative word about Islam constitutes “hate speech.”
Note also the totalitarian pattern. Adams, subject to Hillary Clinton’s recommended peer pressure and shaming, issues an abject apology. But it isn’t good enough. He must be made an example for anyone else who might dare to dissent.
The University of Cincinnati ought to be picketed and inundated with protests until Clifford Adams is reinstated. But it is unlikely that there are enough lovers of freedom there who understand the implications of this case and are willing to stick their necks out.
Meanwhile, in which Muslim country would Greg Vehr or anyone else at the University of Cincinnati venture to say that Muslim women are safer than they are in the U.S.?
