Swiss authorities should not tolerate this, and should demand assimilation as a condition for immigration. But they, like other European rulers, are weak and spineless, and leading their nation down the path of national suicide.
“Erdogan warns Turks in Switzerland about integration,” translated from “Erdogan warnt Türken in der Schweiz vor Integration,” by Fabian Eberhard, Blick, December 22, 2019 (thanks to Searchlight Germany):
Two days, two speeches, two faces: On Tuesday, at his official appearance at the Refugee Forum in Geneva, Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave the appearance of a diplomatic leader. In front of dozens of TV cameras, he asked the international community for more support for Turkey.
This was quite different from the day before. The Turkish ruler stepped in front of his supporters in the elegant Four Seasons hotel and, shielded from the public, gave a propaganda speech against integration.
SonntagsBlick has a video of the performance. A conference room with almost 200 people, white tablecloths, silver cutlery. And on stage: Erdogan, who conjures up his fantasies of a great power among the Swiss-Turks present.
“So we continue!”
While Swiss police officers patrolled in front of the hotel with submachine guns, the Turkish autocrat inside said in a frenzy: “One nation, one flag, one home, one state. So we continue!”
Applause.
Erdogan makes it clear to those present: Even if they live in Switzerland, they have only one nation to be true to: Turkey. The President extends his hand in the air, four fingers outstretched, his thumb bent – the “Rabia salute”, the distinctive mark of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood.
Erdogan goes even further: There is only one country for the Turkish diaspora to follow. The task in Switzerland, however, is to expand its influence: “Get active, in politics, science, the economy!” In other words: infiltrate Swiss society.
Turkish loyalists abroad have always been Erdogan’s ideal. Already in 2008 he called out to his compatriots during a speech: “Nobody can expect you to submit to assimilation. Assimilation is a crime against humanity!”
To keep the Turkish diaspora on track, Erdogan founded the Ministry of Foreign Turks (YTB) in 2010, an agency with 300 employees and an annual budget of almost CHF 200 million. The official motto of the YTB: “We are everywhere where we have a citizen, a member of the same race, a relative.” It should come as no surprise that Erdogan’s propaganda campaign in Geneva was organized and probably financed by that very ministry….
