VERMONT ISLAMIC SOCIETY THE LATEST IN RISING NUMBER OF MOSQUES BUYING CHURCHES & CONVERTING THEM

"Alhamdulillah, we have signed a contract for buying this property which is established over a 3-acre land with a 19,000 sq. ft building. Given the circumstances, the entire property is priced at $1.05M, which is far below the town-assessed value and at 50% less than its market value of $2.4M. Its location in South Burlington, Vermont, is a very desirable and central to most of our Muslim community in the Greater Burlington area. In addition, we are excited that this location is also in the same neighborhood of our friends from the Temple Sinai Synagogue and from the All Saints Episcopal Church."

“The Vermont Islamic Society is closer to getting its new mosque in South Burlington. It plans to buy the former Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building on Swift Street.”
In June, the president of the society, Nedzad Halilovic, stated that “the purchase is an important step for the future of the Muslim population in Vermont…..many Muslims are coming to Vermont from other places both inside and outside the U.S.”
Purchasing Churches and turning them into mosques is a significantly increasing pattern in the West, especially across Europe.
France has been turning empty churches into mosques in large numbers; the practice was encouraged by France’s top Muslim official, Dalil Boubakeur, rector of the Grand Mosque in Paris and the president of the French Council of Muslim Faith. Boubakeur suggested “turning empty or abandoned Catholic churches into mosques, saying as many as 5,000 are needed for the country’s Muslim population – the largest in Europe.”
In an exposé about churches being turned into mosques in Europe, a phenomenon that is now being seen more in the U.S., Italian journalist Giulio Meotti  writes:
It’s the “de-Christianization” of Europe, which is naturally followed by its gradual Islamization and increasing anti-Semitism…..Demography is the most important symptom of exhaustion: without a cradle, you can’t sustain a civilization….To understand this historic process one has to see the number of churches converted into mosques.
