Hillary Clinton on Wednesday promised to create a national office that will offer “services” to immigrants and refugees. She made the announcement to organize an Office of Immigrant Affairs while receiving an endorsement from immigrant rights group the New York State Immigrant Action fund.
“I will provide 15 million dollars in grants to fund efforts like community navigators who help guide immigrants through this system,” Clinton said.
“Clinton will work to implement the [Obama administration] task force’s recommendations [to “integrate” illegals], and create the first-ever federal Office of Immigrant Affairs to make sure that there is a dedicated place in the White House where integration services are studied and coordinated across the government,” according to a Clinton aide.
In 2012, the New York State Immigrant Action fund received part of a $450,000 grant awarded by the state of New York. The tax payer money was earmarked to help “undocumented” immigrants from the Caribbean avoid deportation and provide services to people in the country illegally. Moreover, the money was used by the organization to help illegals obtain valid social security numbers, and apply for driver’s licenses, professional certificates and financial aid for college, according to The Daily Observer.
Clinton’s announcement is an obvious attempt to sway Latino voters ahead of a crucial primary vote in New York on April 19.
Rival Bernie Sanders and Clinton have traded barbs over immigration. The Clinton campaign used TV ads to criticize Sanders for voting against a 2006 immigration bill in the Senate. Sanders has taken the former secretary of state to task for her opposition in 2007 to granting driver’s licenses to New York’s illegal immigrants.
Democrats not only support the tax payer funded effort to legalize immigrants—who would obviously vote in large numbers for Democrats—they also oppose proof of citizenship for voters.
“Only two states actually require proof of citizenship in order to register (Arizona and Kansas). The others merely require the applicant sign a sworn statement attesting to the fact that he or she is a citizen. But this is what is asked, and routinely perjured, on the I-9 Form,” writes attorney Howard Foster. “Thus, it follows that false claims of citizenship in order to register to vote should be widespread. There are some media reports of non-citizens voting, but generally, the media have not investigated the problem in any depth compared to their obsession with the insurmountable problem Republicans will have with Hispanic “‘voters.’”
