I've got good news!
The anti-gun and unconstitutional provisions of the so-called "Patriot Act" have sunset.
Thanks to the leadership of pro-gun U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), these laws -- allowing President Obama to spy on gun owners and all Americans -- expired and are not in force today.
This all happened following a rare and very tense Sunday session of the U.S. Senate.
John, this is monumental victory would not have been possible without your phone calls, fax petitions and activism.

Gun owners have been waiting fourteen years for these sections to expire.
Unfortunately, this victory may be short lived.
That's because the U.S. Senate did advance the so-called "USA Freedom Act" by a vote of 77-17.
John, we've still got work to do.
The "USA Freedom Act" will face a final vote in the Senate very soon.
Without changes, it could allow the bulk data collection programs to resume later this week.
This so-called "reform" bill still has several questionable parts, and simply does NOT go far enough in reforming unconstitutional "Patriot Act" sections.
But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) fast-tracked this bill anyway, and it has already passed the House.
Faced with no other alternative, Senator Rand Paul has prepared a list of meaningful pro-gun reforms to the "USA Freedom Act".
But Washington insiders say Mitch McConnell will use his power as majority leader to silence Rand Paul by blocking these reforms from even getting a vote.
Please call U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell right now and insist he stop blocking Rand Paul's meaningful pro-gun "Patriot Act" reforms.

John, even though the Senate missed their midnight deadline to extend the "Patriot Act", they're still going to try to RAM it through without debate.
Remember, these are the same sections that allowed the Obama NSA to get away with gathering up the electronic communication records of virtually every American!
Worse, they could also be abused by the Obama administration to establish a NATIONAL GUN REGISTRY.
In fact, these "Patriot Act" sections also allow them to gather:
*** Gun Purchase Records, including credit card records, check images from your bank, gun shop receipts, and even the form 4473 you filled out for the background check;
*** Hunting or Sporting gear purchases, magazine subscription records or even gun show attendance records (by scanning license plates in the parking lot as the DEA planned to do);
*** Concealed weapons permit lists, firearms training certificates, or hunting permit applications; and,
*** Private medical records of gun owners.
During Sen. Paul's filibuster the last week, even Democrat U.S. Senator Ron Wyden acknowledged the dangers of these "Patriot Act" provisions:
"Government officials could use the Patriot Act to collect, collate, and retain medical records, financial records, library records, gun purchase records, you name it!"
As written, the current "USA Freedom Act" would simply transfer the bulk collection of all these records from the government to private companies.
If your phone or gun records are stored "privately" but are still made available to the government on demand it could lead to even MORE abuse of the "Patriot Act" instead of less.
That's why it's so important that you call Senate Majority Leader McConnell and insist he stop blocking Rand Paul's meaningful pro-gun "Patriot Act" reforms.
