Attorney General Eric Holder says that gun tracking bracelets are something the DOJ wants to "explore" as part of its gun control efforts. Holder recently told a House appropriations subcommittee that his agency is looking into technological innovations that would make guns safer by requiring "finger print identification" or wrist bracelets for access to firearms.
"I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and we talked about how
guns can be made more safe," he said.
"By making them either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or something that you might wear, how guns can be used only by the person who is lawfully in possession of the weapon."
Meanwhile the Justice Department has requested a staggering $382 million dollars for "gun safety" efforts in 2014 (http://www.justice.gov/jmd/2014factsh...) which includes "Gun Safety Technology" grants that will be awarded to innovators who produce technologies that are "proven to be reliable and effective." GPS tracking, Guns with RFID chips and RFID-equipped bracelets for gun owners are all on the table.

Holder made his remarks while testifying before a U.S. House of Representatives appropriations committee on Friday.
