PRO LGBT BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN CANCELS NORTH CAROLINA CONCERT OVER LAW ANNULLING CHARLOTTE CITY "BATHROOM BILL"

NEW JERSEY'S "FINEST" PUTS LGBT CAUSES ABOVE HIS SINGING TO PUNISH NORTH CAROLINA'S CHRISTIANS

QUOTES FROM WIKIPEDIA:
"Springsteen is an activist for gay rights and has spoken out many times as a strong supporter of gay marriage. In 2009, he posted the following statement on his website: "I've long believed in and have always spoken out for the rights of same sex couples and fully agree with Governor Corzine when he writes that 'The marriage-equality issue should be recognized for what it truly is—a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law.'" In 2012, he lent his support to an ad campaign for gay marriage called "The Four 2012". Springsteen noted in the ad, "I couldn't agree more with that statement and urge those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now." In April 2016 he last minute cancelled a gig in Greensboro, North Carolina to protest the state's newly passed House Bill 2, which the media are referring to as the “bathroom” law. The law dictates which bathroom transgender people are permitted to use and prevents LBGT citizens to sue over human rights violations in the workplace. Springsteen released an official statement on his website. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) celebrated Springsteen’s statement against intolerance and he has received much praise and gratitude from the LGBT community."
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN CANCELS NORTH CAROLINA CONCERT OVER LAW ANNULLING CHARLOTTE CITY "BATHROOM BILL"

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

Famed secular rocker Bruce Springsteen has canceled his concert today in North Carolina to show his opposition to a recently passed state law that annulled a controversial “bathroom bill” in Charlotte and banned other cities from passing similar ordinances.
“As we also know, North Carolina has just passed HB2, which the media are referring to as the ‘bathroom’ law. HB2—known officially as the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act—dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use,” he wrote in a social media post on Friday. “Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace.”
“No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden,” Springsteen said. “To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress.”
He explained that he had decided to cancel his concert as an act of solidarity with those who identify as homosexual or transgender, calling them “freedom fighters.”
“Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments. Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters,” Springsteen said. “As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th.”
“Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry—which is happening as I write—is one of them,” he continued. “It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards.”
As previously reported, last month, North Carolina House lawmakers passed the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act after the Charlotte City Council voted to expand the city’s non-discrimination ordinance to add provisions for homosexuals and those who identify as the opposite sex—including in regard to restroom and locker room use.
“Public agencies shall require every multiple occupancy bathroom or changing facility to be designated for and only used by persons based on their biological sex,” the legislation reads in part. “Local boards of education shall require every multiple occupancy bathroom or changing facility that is designated for student use to be designated for and used only by students based on their biological sex.”
Gov. Pat McCrory promptly signed the Public Facilities Act into law on the same day of its passage, and later released a fact sheet to clarify what he believed were misunderstandings about the content of the ordinance.
“Businesses are not limited by this bill. Private individuals, companies and universities can adopt new or keep existing nondiscrimination policies,” it reads in part. “[I]f a privately-owned sporting facility wants to allow attendees of sporting events to use the restroom of their choice, or install unisex bathrooms, they can. The law neither requires nor prohibits them from doing so.”
“This law simply says people must use the bathroom of the sex listed on their birth certificate. Anyone who has undergone a sex change can change their sex on their birth certificate,” the fact sheet also advises.
The the ACLU, Equality North Carolina and Lamba Legal soon filed suit against McCrory and others on behalf of two transgendered residents, Joaquín Carcaño and Payton Grey McGarry, as well as and Angela Gilmore, a lesbian employed at North Carolina Central University.
But others expressed their support for the bill.
“It is just common sense that men should not go into the women’s restrooms,” Tami Fitzgerald, the executive director of the North Carolina Values Coalition, told reporters. “It’s ridiculous to have such an uproar.”
Some have likewise now spoken against Bruce Springsteen’s cancellation of his Sunday concert in Greensboro.
“It’s disappointing he’s not following through on his commitments,” Rep. Mark Walker, a pastor, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Bruce is known to be on the radical left … [and] I consider this a bully tactic. It’s like when a kid gets upset and says he’s going to take his ball and go home.”
“Will Bruce now cancel shows in every city or state that has a law on the books with which he disagrees, or has voted for a governor or senator he doesn’t like?” asked local musician Steve Baker.
“The Greensboro Coliseum has men’s restrooms, women’s restrooms and presumably family restrooms,” Republican Party leader Dallas Woodhouse also said in a statement. “For years young girls have safely used the restrooms at ACC Tournament games and other events at the Greensboro Coliseum separated from grown men. The legislature and governor simply secured the long-standing common policy of safety and security and privacy.”

TENNESSEE PASSES BILL REJECTING GUN CONTROL IMPOSED BY INTERNATIONAL LAW OR TREATY

TENNESSEE PASSES BILL REJECTING GUN CONTROL IMPOSED BY INTERNATIONAL
LAW OR TREATY
BY JOE JANKOWSKI
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

On Thursday, the Tennessee senate gave final approval to a bill that sets the foundation to stop enforcement of gun control imposed by international law or treaty. House Bill 2389 would prohibit law enforcement officers from enforcing provisions of international law and treaties that limit gun rights as specified in the state’s constitution.
The bill reads:
"On or after July 1, 2016, no personnel or property of this state, or any political subdivision of this state, shall be allocated to the implementation, regulation, or enforcement of any international law or treaty regulating the ownership, use, or possession of firearms, ammunition, or firearm accessories, if the use of personnel or property would result in the violation of another Tennessee statute, Tennessee common law, or the Constitution of Tennessee."
“This bill prohibits any interference of [the right to keep and bear arms] by international treaty,” said Tennessee Rep. John Windle, who introduced the bill in January.
HB2389 now moves on to Governor Bill Haslam’s desk. He must sign or veto the bill within 10 days of transmittal, or it becomes law without his signature.
If this bill passes, Tennessee will be shielded from the pesky, anti-second amendment UN Arms Trade Treaty which has been described by Gun Owners of America as part of a plan “to bring back the framework for a global gun control regime.”
The ATT was signed by Secretary of State John Kerry on September 25, 2013 but was never ratified by the US Senate.
The NRA blasted the Obama Administration for signing the treaty, saying “This treaty threatens individual firearm ownership with an invasive registration scheme [and is full of regulations and requirements that are] blatant attacks on the constitutional rights of every law-abiding American.”
Recently, Oxfam International renewed its push for the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

PENNSYLVANIA GOVERNOR ISSUES ORDER REQUIRING GROUPS THAT CONTRACT WITH STATE TO HIRE HOMOSEXUALS

The 1682 “Great Law” of Pennsylvania, penned by its founder William Penn, required criminal penalties for those who engage in homosexual acts.
“And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid that if any person shall be legally convicted of the unnatural sin of sodomy or joining with beasts such persons shall be whipped and forfeit one third part of his or her estate and work six months in the house of corrections at hard labor, and for the second offence imprisonment as aforesaid during life,” it read.

PENNSYLVANIA GOVERNOR ISSUES ORDER REQUIRING GROUPS THAT CONTRACT WITH STATE TO HIRE HOMOSEXUALS
BY HEATHER CLARK

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Democratic governor of Pennsylvania has signed two executive orders banning government workers from turning down homosexuals and transgenders for Commonwealth contracts and grants, and prohibiting those who contract with the Commonwealth from doing the same.
“These executive orders—one that applies to Commonwealth employees and the other that applies to grants and procurement, say that no agency under the governor’s jurisdiction shall discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of race, color, religious creed, ancestry, union membership, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, AIDS or HIV status, or disability,” Gov. Tom Wolf said before a gathering at the capitol in Harrisburg.
“The employment practices of the Commonwealth must be non-discriminatory,” he continued. “And all businesses contracting with the Commonwealth should use non-discriminatory practices in sub-contracting, hiring, promoting, and other labor matters.”
Wolf also called upon lawmakers to pass legislation that would expand existing non-discrimination laws throughout the Commonwealth as his executive orders only applied at the government level.
“I am urging the legislature to pass a non-discrimination bill that makes it clear to the world that Pennsylvania is a welcoming place for everyone,” he said. “This is the right thing for us to do, just as it was right for William Penn to proclaim that Pennsylvania was a place for everyone regardless of your religion.”
Wolf said that he was unhappy that the legislature had not yet passed a law to provide protections for homosexual and transgender residents.
“I am troubled by the General Assembly’s inaction on passing non-discrimination legislation,” he said. “Pennsylvania needs to go on record to proclaim that all people—regardless of sexual orientation, gender expression or identity—are treated equally under Pennsylvania law.”
The Pennsylvania Family Council issued a statement following Wolf’s order, stating that it could cause problems for charities that receive contracts or grants from the Commonwealth.
“Under two executive orders signed today, PA is closed for business unless you agree with Gov. Wolf,” said President Michael Geer. “He’s ordering something that could very well exclude thousands of good people from doing business with their own state in their own state.”
“[T]hese executive orders will put the onus on many faith-inspired charities that serve needy Pennsylvanians to prove they are doing Gov. Wolf’s bidding or face complete cut-off of state funds,” the group stated. “Pennsylvania Family Council calls on Gov. Wolf to withdraw these unjust orders.”

Vatican Invites Sanders to a Conference
to Discuss a 'Moral' Economy
By Susan Jones | April 8, 2016 | 8:22 AM EDT

(CNSNews.com) - Bernie Sanders says he's a "big, big fan" of Pope Francis, who has invited him to speak at a Vatican conference on April 15.

"I was very moved by the invitation, which just was made public today," the senator told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Friday.

"Obviously there are areas where we disagree on," Sanders said, pointing to "women's rights" and "gay rights."

"But he has played an unbelievable role -- an unbelievable role -- of injecting the moral consequence into the economy.
"You know, people think Bernie Sanders is radical? Uh-uh. Read what the pope is writing.
"What he is saying is not only that we have to pay attention to what he calls the dispossessed; and again, we don't talk about it enough. These are the children who have no jobs all over the world; youth unemployment is off the charts. The elderly people who are watching this program now who are trying to get by on $11,000 a year -- we don't talk about that.

"But you know what else he's even doing? He's talking about the idolatry of money; the worship of money; the greed that's out there. How our whole culture is based on, I need more and more and more. And I don't have to worry about veterans sleeping out on the street or elderly people who can't afford their prescription drugs.

"And he's trying to inject a sense of morality into how we do economics...and we need that absolutely, desperately."

The Vatican conference on April 15 will address social, economic and environmental issues.

"Pope Francis has made clear that we must overcome the globalization of indifference in order to reduce economic inequalities, stop financial corruption and protect the natural environment. That is our challenge in the United States and in the world,” Sanders said in a statement carried by wire services.

The Washington Post quoted Sanders as saying, “I am grateful to the Vatican for inviting me to talk about an issue that is very dear to my heart, which is how we create a moral economy that works for all of the people rather than just the top one percent."

Sanders said he also plans to address "the planetary crisis of climate change and the moral imperative to make sure we leave this planet in a way that is healthy and habitable for future generations.”

COMMENTARY ABOUT THE ARTICLE ABOVE BY PASTOR RALPH OVADAL, PILGRIMS COVENANT CHURCH, MONROE, WISCONSIN:
No surprise here. Avowed socialist Bernie Sanders, who spent his honeymoon in the then Soviet Union, has been invited to the pope’s conference: “The Vatican conference on April 15 will address social, economic and environmental issues.” But wait--Sanders is a hard-core pro-abort politician. No matter. Popery is pragmatic, not pro-life. “Pro-life” works for popery at the present time. But even so, Rome has made it clear that the murder of the unborn is not all that important to the big picture. What really matters to Rome is power; and this popery pursues by enslaving people through priestcraft while at the same time endearing itself to multitudes as a champion of the poor, including through a political lobbying apparatus in civil power centers around the world--including our federal and state capitols--which is second to none in funding and influence.

Further, socialism works for Rome in that socialism is all about power being concentrated in a few central governments which in turn can be the better influenced and, as is hoped by the papal power, controlled more and more by Rome. This is the same reason the Vatican is so very deeply concerned about “environmental issues” led by “global warming.” Is Pope Francis a socialist? He is only being true to the economic teachings/political polity of Rome dating all the way back to that revered doctor of the church, “St.” Thomas Aquinas, the godfather of liberation theology. This aspect of popery is documented, for instance, in thePontifical Council for Justice and Peace Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church. (See http://www.pccmonroe.org/Ecumenism/2009.01.08.htm.) All of the popes have been socialists.

By the way, the Roman Catholic Church organization Catholic Charities USA receives more tax dollars than any other charitable organization in our nation! A panoply of smaller Catholic charities also receives a huge amount of government largesse. All told, we are talking about billions in tax dollars yearly--not even millions, but billions! Your tax dollars at work, spreading Romish blasphemy, even while winning influence and proselytes to Rome. Talk about a true constitutional violation of church and state!

DEMOCRATIC GOVERNORS BAN NON-ESSENTIAL GOVERNMENT TRAVEL TO MISSISSIPPI OVER RELIGIOUS FREEDOM LAW

DEMOCRATIC GOVERNORS BAN NON-ESSENTIAL GOVERNMENT TRAVEL TO MISSISSIPPI OVER RELIGIOUS FREEDOM LAW
SEE PREVIOUS ARTICLE FIRST:
BY HEATHER CLARK
SEE: http://christiannews.net/2016/04/08/democratic-governors-ban-non-essential-govt-travel-to-mississippi-over-religious-freedom-law/; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

The Democratic governors of Vermont, Minnesota, Connecticut, New York and Washington have banned all non-essential government travel to Mississippi over a new religious freedom law that protects pastors, faith-based organizations and business owners who object to being complicit in another’s same-sex ceremony.
“Discrimination is not a New York value. We believe our diversity is our greatest strength, and we will continue to reject the politics of division and exclusion,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement on Tuesday. “This Mississippi law is a sad, hateful injustice against the LGBT community, and I will not allow any non-essential official travel to that state until it is repealed.”
“This act of discrimination is discriminatory against many Mississippi residents, and violates their Constitutional rights,” Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton also remarked. “We cannot allow this injustice to go unanswered. When the rights of some Americans are threatened, it is the responsibility of all Americans to stand in opposition to those discriminatory acts.”
As previously reported, last Friday, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed H.B. 1523, also known as the Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act. It had been passed days prior in the Senate.
“The sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions protected by this act are the belief or conviction that: marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman; sexual relations are properly reserved to such a marriage; and male (man) or female (woman) refer to an individual’s immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy and genetics at time of birth,” the legislation, authored by House Speaker Phillip Gunn, reads.
The bill then prohibits the government from punishing those who decline to officiate same-sex ceremonies or provide services or accommodations for the celebrations, as well as those whose policies require use of locker and restrooms consistent with their biological gender.
It does not permit persons to refuse service in general, but only to decline forms of personal participation in events that conflict with their faith.
“The state government shall not take any discriminatory action against a person wholly or partially on the basis that the person has provided or declined to provide … services, accommodations, facilities, goods, or privileges for a purpose related to the solemnization, formation, celebration, or recognition of any marriage, based upon or in a manner consistent with a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction,” it reads in part.
Major corporations such as Pepsi, General Electric, Whole Foods, Dow Chemical Company, Hewlett Packard, Choice Hotels International, Hyatt Hotels and Levis Strauss & Co. have expressed opposition to the measure. Religious freedom groups, however, have applauded the move.
“Mississippians from all walks of life believe that the government shouldn’t punish someone because of their views on marriage,” stated Alliance Defending Freedom legal counsel Kellie Fiedorek. “After all, you’re not free if your beliefs are confined to your mind. What makes America unique is our freedom to peacefully live out those beliefs, and the Constitution protects that freedom.”
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant has defended the Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act, stating that it “merely reinforces the rights which currently exist to exercise of religious freedom as stated in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”

Therapist Suspended for Sharing Christianity With Muslim Co-Worker Loses Appeal
BY HEATHER CLARK
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

LONDON — An occupational therapist who was suspended from her job for nine months after her Muslim co-worker alleged that she was trying to convert her to Christianity has lost her appeal before an employment tribunal.
As previously reported, Victoria Wasteney, now 39, had developed a friendship with her colleague Enya Nawaz, now 28, as they worked at the St. John Howard Center in London. The two had discussed Islam and Christianity, and Wasteney had talked to Nawaz about her church’s efforts to fight human trafficking.
“The whole basis of our conversations around faith started with her telling me that she’d had an encounter with God, that she felt she had been brought to London for a particular reason,” Wasteney told reporters.
“We were both interested in what one another were involved in,” she said. “It was part of the normal process of building a relationship with someone, to talk about primarily things we were interested in outside of work.”
In 2013, after Nawaz told Wasteney about her personal health concerns on a lunch break, Wasteney offered to pray for her. Nawaz replied, “Okay,” and Wasteney laid hands on her and prayed that God would give her “peace and healing.”
Wastney also invited her co-worker to church and gave her a copy of the book “I Dared to Call Him Father,” which is about a Muslim woman who converted to Christianity. Wasteney said that she had never read the book, but that it had been recommended by a friend.
“Because we had had these conversations, it did not seem abnormal,” she explained.
But Nawaz soon lodged a complaint with her employer, alleging that Wasteney was trying to convert her. Wasteney was consequently suspended for nine months with pay while an investigation was conducted into the matter.
In 2014, while dismissing several other accusations, a disciplinary panel declared Wasteney guilty of “bullying and harassment,” stating that she was wrong to pray with her co-worker, invite her to church and give her a book about her faith. She was presented with a written warning and allowed to return to work—but not in her specialist field.
The matter then was appealed to an employment tribunal out of an effort to draw awareness to concerns over those who might face discipline for speaking about their faith in the workplace. But the tribunal upheld the panel’s ruling, stating that it dealt properly with the situation.
Wasteney was granted permission to appeal the decision, but on Thursday, Judge Eady QC agreed that Wasteney’s employer was right to discipline her.
“What the court clearly failed to do was to say how, in today’s politically correct world, any Christian can even enter into a conversation with a fellow employee on the subject of religion and not, potentially, later end up in an employment tribunal,” Wasteney said in a statement. “If someone sends you friendly text messages, how is one to know that they are offended? I had no idea that I was upsetting her.”
She provided an example of a text that she received from Nawaz.
“Hope you’re okay, Victoria. You’re an amazing manager and a wonderful person. I hope you never feel otherwise!” it read.
“I believe the NHS singled me out for discipline because Christianity is so disrespected,” Wasteney said. “Previously a Christian worship service that I set up for patients was closed down, but accommodation for Muslims to practice their faith wholly facilitated and encouraged.”
_______________________________________________________
EXCERPTS: "The two women had discussed Islam and Christianity, as well as the work done by her church at the Christian Revival Church in the O2 Arena in Greenwich against human trafficking. Miss Nawaz went onto make a formal complaint, and the East London NHS Foundation Trust suspended Ms Wasteney on full pay from her £50,000-a-year job for nine months while they investigated in June 2013. A disciplinary hearing upheld three complaints about the book, the invitation to attend church and Miss Wasteney’s offer to pray for Miss Nawaz, and gave her a written warning for misconduct. She continues to work for the Trust, but not in her specialist field. She launched her own employment tribunal against the NHS in January, saying she wanted to raise awareness about the increasing difficulties experienced by religious people in the workplace and claiming the organisation had failed to clear her of wrong doing because it would be ‘politically incorrect’ to find a Christian innocent. Miss Wasteney will be represented in court by human rights barrister Paul Diamond, and her appeal is supported by the Christian Legal Centre, according to The Sunday Times.
Chief executive of the centre Andrea Williams told the paper: ‘Persecution starts with marginalisation. ‘Where countries let go of a cohesive Christian world view you get chaos and marginalisation. ‘We are letting go of what has given us our freedom.’ She added: ’The tribunal found it was inappropriate for her to engage in prayers or give her colleague a book given her senior position."
