"1619 PROJECT": THE HATE AMERICA PROJECT~THE ANTI-CAPITALIST & ANTI-WHITE RACISM OF THE PROJECT'S AUTHORS

THE HATE AMERICA PROJECT
How the NY Times, the Pulitzer Foundation and America’s cultural elite have aimed a dagger at America’s heart.

Editorial Note: It’s time to recognize that the current ideologies of the progressive Left and the Democrat Party – Cultural Marxism and Identity Politics – pose existential threats to America’s survival.
America is unique among nations in being founded on a set of ideas and values rather than having a shared “identity” based on “blood and soil.” The founding of America during the revolutionary era 1776 – 1787 was based on principles that provide the sinews of our national identity. They are what create a unity out of the diverse peoples that have settled and occupied this country since its founding. They have been the inspirational force that enabled America to abolish slavery, become a global symbol of freedom, and provide the world’s chief bulwark against global tyrannies.
It is this inspirational memory that the political left has set out to erase and destroy. The most disturbing manifestation of this sinister aggression is the so-called “1619 Project,” the brainchild of a staff writer at The New York Times, named Nikole Hannah-Jones. It is supported by The Pulitzer Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution and the nation’s cultural elite. Six months after its launch, the “1619 Project” Is already a curriculum in 3,500 public high schools in all 50 states.[1] Given the extreme leftwing nature of the teacher unions and the public education establishment, while disturbing this is hardly surprising.[2]
The “1619 Project” is described by Times editorial board member Mara Gay in the following words: “In the days and weeks to come, we will publish essays demonstrating that nearly everything that has made America exceptional grew out of slavery.”[3] In a formal statement, the Times editorial board elaborated: “The 1619 Project is a major initiative from The New York Times observing the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery. It aims to reframe the country’s history, understanding 1619 as our true founding, and placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of the story we tell ourselves about who we are.”[4]
In other words, in its very conception, the 1619 Project is an historically illiterate lie, whose self-evident purpose is to erase the actual foundation of the nation born in 1776 and memorialized by Lincoln as a “new nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”
The creator of the 1619 Project, an African American Times staff writer, and pro-Castro leftist, has written an introduction to the project called “America Wasn’t a Democracy Until Black Americans Made It One.”[5] The title reveals the thinly veiled racist attitudes of both the author and her project by suggesting that Blacks wrote the Declaration of Independence, created the abolitionist movement, drafted and financed the Union army, sacrificed 350,000 lives to win the Civil War, wrote the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, created and financed the NAACP and other civil rights organizations without major support from whites, and wrote and passed the Civil Rights Acts. Of course these are absurdities, and the only reason they are even entertained is because anti-white racism is so fashionable among the nation’s cultural elites at this troubled moment in our history.
Hannah-Jones’ explanation of the project to make 1619 America’s Founding instead of 1776 or 1787, describes the event in these words: “In August 1619, just 12 years after the English settled Jamestown, Va.,… the Jamestown colonists bought 20 to 30 enslaved Africans from English pirates. The pirates had stolen them from a Portuguese slave ship that had forcibly taken them from what is now the country of Angola. Those men and women who came ashore on that August day were the beginning of American slavery. They were among the 12.5 million Africans who would be kidnapped from their homes and brought in chains across the Atlantic Ocean in the largest forced migration in human history until the Second World War.”[6] [Emphasis added.)
This description is a tissue of fictions beginning with the insinuation that 12.5 million Africans were shipped to America in the Atlantic Slave Trade. The proper figure is 330,000 – bad enough – but a sign that American slavery even in the Western Hemisphere was significantly less than Hannah-Jones and her enablers would like it to be. More strikingly, the statement that this was “the beginning of American slavery” is false on its face. It was a continuation of English – not American practice. And the 20 Africans brought to Virginia in 1619 were not slaves.
As the distinguished African-American Princeton historian, Nell Painter, observed in a critique of the 1619 Project, the Africans brought to Virginia in 1619 were indentured servants, meaning that they would be free within a set number of years, usually five to seven.[7] In fact the majority of laborers in the Virginia colony were indentured servants, almost all of them white. Moreover, neither the 20 indentured servants who arrived in Virginia in 1619 nor the vast majority of actual slaves who came later were “kidnapped” by white Englishmen or any other whites. They were bought at slave auctions centered in Ghana and Benin from black African slave owners. The 20 indentured servants who arrived in Virginia in 1619 had been captured and indentured by black African warlords as spoils of war.[8] All of these facts undermine the Times’ attack on America’s founding, so Hannah-Jones omits them.
The ideological character of the 1619 Project is manifest in the subtitle of Hannah-Jones’ historically illiterate introduction: “Our democracy’s founding ideals were false when they were written. Black Americans have fought to make them true.”[9] This claim is based first of all on a grammatical misunderstanding of the word “ideals,” and then on an extravagant distortion of the historical record. “Ideals” are by their very nature aspirations not facts. The Founders’ ideals were actually commitments they made which they and their heirs did carry out.
In the second place, Hannah-Jones characterization of the founders as pro-slavery in her introduction is just an offensive slander. In the words of C. Bradley Thompson’s scholarly study of the founders attitudes, America’s Revolutionary Mind: “Not a single revolutionary leader ever publicly praised slavery as a positive good. Benjamin Franklin, speaking as president of the Pennsylvania Society of Promoting the Abolition of Slavery, described slavery as ‘an atrocious debasement of human nature.’ George Washington, a slaveholder, told a friend, ‘There is not a man living, who wishes more sincerely than I do to see a plan adopted for the abolition of [slavery].’ At the Constitutional Convention in 1787, James Madison told his colleagues, ‘We have seen the mere distinction of color made in the most enlightened period of time, a ground of the most oppressive dominion ever exercised by man over man.’”[10]
Hannah-Jones’ claim that the Founders led a revolution to protect slavery is also   transparently false. The year 1787 saw the passing of the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, which established settlement of the region that would become Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. It was a geographical area as large as the existing 13 states. Article IV outlawed slavery in this unsettled land. What rationale would the allegedly pro-slavery founders have for doing that?
Inspired by their commitment to equality and liberty, the American founders immediately began dismantling the institution of slavery in the northern states, which were soon referred to as the “Free States,” a process completed by 1804. So why didn’t they simply abolish slavery throughout all the United States? An obvious, compelling reason was that they feared the catastrophe of a civil war which eventually did kill more Americans than all of America’s other wars to the present day combined. But there was an even worse prospect for them to consider. If the founders had attempted to abolish slavery in the Slave South in 1787, the South would have joined forces with the British – the greatest empire in the world, whose soldiers managed to burn the White House in the War of 1812. Such an alliance would likely have defeated the free states of the North, and the victorious South might have extended the reign of slavery for who knows how long. So they sought to delay a bloodbath that might result in an extension of slavery, believing it was a backward economic system that was bound to fall of its own weight.
Because of their racist attitudes against whites, neither Hannah-Jones nor the Times editors even bother to ask the serious question of why the anti-slavery signers of the Declaration of Independence might have reason to compromise with the Slave South. For them the only possible answer is white hypocrisy, white perfidy and white racism.
The real purpose of the 1619 Project is revealed in Nikole Hannah-Jones baseless claim that, "Anti-black racism runs in the very DNA of this country.”[11] This was a slander infamously voiced by Barack Obama and other anti-American leftists some years earlier.[12] James Oakes, himself a leftist, was also one of four major American historians to sign a joint statement challenging the historical distortions and ideological nature of the 1619 Project: “These are really dangerous tropes,” he warned. “They’re not only ahistorical, they’re actually anti-historical. The function of those tropes is to deny change over time…. They say, 'look at how terribly black people were treated under slavery. And look at the incarceration rate for black people today. It’s the same thing. Nothing changes. There has been no industrialization. There has been no Great Migration. We’re all in the same boat we were back then. And that’s what original sin is. It’s passed down. Every single generation is born with the same original sin…. There’s nothing we can do to get out of it. If it’s the DNA, there’s nothing you can do. What do you do? Alter your DNA?”[13]
The obvious point of the DNA metaphor is that racism rather than liberty and the proposition that all men are created equal are the essence of America’s democracy. This is a transparent incitement to destroy what these determined enemies of America’s actual democracy are intent on portraying as a hypocritical, racist, sham.
But the actual history of slavery in America refutes this claim and tells an opposite story. In City Journal, the American historian Allen Guelzo dismissed the Times project as a “conspiracy theory” developed from the “chair of ultimate cultural privilege in America, because in no human society has an enslaved people suddenly found itself vaulted into positions of such privilege, and with the consent—even the approbation—of those who were once the enslavers.”[14]
Even more powerful scholarly testimony comes from Orlando Patterson, a man of the left and a renowned African American Harvard sociologist who has written award-winning books on  slavery and race. America, in Patterson’s words, “is the least racist white-majority society in the world; has a better record of legal protections of minorities than any other society, white or black; offers more opportunities to greater numbers of black persons than any other society, including those of Africa.”[15]
The anti-American animus of the 1619 Project is not inspired by the history of American slavery and emancipation, but by the anti-capitalist and anti-white racism of the projects’ authors. This is evident from the actual articles that make up the Project and its curriculum, which do not examine the facts – complex as they are - of what took place in August 1619, but use slavery as a brush with which to tar every aspect of American life.
The 100-page special issue of The New York Times Magazine which launched the Project tells one all one needs to know about its purpose. The issue includes the following articles (and only these): “America Wasn't a Democracy Until Black Americans Made It One,” “American Capitalism Is Brutal. You Can Trace That to the Plantation,” “Why Is Everyone Always Stealing Black Music?,” “How Segregation Caused Your Traffic Jam,” “How False Beliefs in Physical Racial Difference Still Live in Medicine Today,” “The Barbaric History of Sugar in America,” “Why Doesn't America Have Universal Healthcare? One word: Race,” ‘Why American Prisons Owe Their Cruelty to Slavery,” “How America's Vast Racial Wealth Gap Grew: By Plunder,” and finally one that overtly displays the relentless political agenda – ‘What the Reactionary Politics of 2019 Owe to the Politics of Slavery,”[16] In other words the Trump administration is a legacy of slavery.
The 1619 Project is an outrageous, racist, falsification of American history. A metastasizing curriculum in America’s schools, it is a dagger aimed at America’s heart, at its self-esteem and self-understanding, at its national pride. It aims to destroy America’s shield against its real world enemies. These enemies are legion because tyrannies around the globe hate democracy in general and America in particular, as the most tolerant and most inclusive nation among all nations with large internal minorities. For comparison, there is not a black, brown or Asian nation that has elected as its commander-in-chief a white countryman the way white American majorities elected Barack Obama - not once but twice.
As a result of Nikole Hannah-Jones’ role in creating this racist, anti-capitalist and historically illiterate attack on a country that has given her extraordinary freedoms and privileges, she has been showered with awards and prizes by the cultural elite - including a $624,000 MacArthur “Genius Award.” This is the real danger embedded in the 1619 Project: It has the support of America’s disloyal, seditious elites. These are the privileged, mis-named “liberals,” who for three years have sabotaged a duly elected president through witch-hunts, beginning with a thinly veiled attempted coup by the nation’s intelligence agencies.
Inspired by Identity Politics, and leftist pie-in-the sky promises, the Democrat Party supports a pro-terrorist, Jew-hating caucus in the House, promotes lawlessness at the country’s borders, casually tolerates anti-white racism, and anti-male bigotry, and sponsors presidential candidates who want to criminalize free speech, rule by executive diktat and confiscate private wealth - and who are plausibly described as Rip Van Winkle Marxists whom the Communist horrors of the 20th Century seem to have passed by unnoticed.

COLORADO CHURCH WORSHIP LEADERS PRESENT SUPER BOWL THEMED "DIRTY DANCING" PARODY DURING SUNDAY SERVICE

COLORADO CHURCH WORSHIP LEADERS PRESENT SUPER BOWL THEMED "DIRTY DANCING" PARODY DURING SUNDAY SERVICE

GRAND JUNCTION, Co. — A husband and wife who serve as worship pastors at a church in Colorado presented a Super Bowl-themed parody of the “Dirty Dancing” tune “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” during yesterday’s Sunday service.
Fellowship Church in Grand Junction posted the performance to social media, which shows Joe and Julie Tennyson mimicking some of the moves and lyrics from the 1987 film before acting out a scenario where a husband is excited to watch the Super Bowl — but the date also falls on his anniversary.
“I’ve been waiting all season long/Now the big game’s coming on just past three,” Tennyson sings.
“Got a cute dress at the mall/Reservation for our anniversary,” his wife smiles.
“Anticipation in my eyes/Invited all of the guys for the party,” Tennyson gleams.
“Why is he in that jersey/Surely he won’t wear that to the winery,” his wife worries in the skit.
Tennyson then suddenly remembers it is his anniversary, but hopes his wife will get over the clash of dates. She attempts to run into his arms, but he turns and jumps into the hands of a waiting football team, similarly reenacting a scene from “Dirty Dancing.”
Upset, the wife sings out that this will cost her husband “diamond earrings and a cruise.” The two make up by the end of the song, stating that although they have their times of strife, they will always love each other.
The skit was applauded online by viewers, stating that the parody was “the coolest and the funniest,” “the best thing I’ve seen anywhere for a long time,” and that the couple “nailed it” and “[h]it it out of the park.”
According to an outline of “Dirty Dancing” from The Conversation, in addition to scenes where men and women are “grinding and twisting against each other” and engaging in sexually suggestive dance moves, “[m]uch of the film’s plot revolves around an illegal abortion.”
“When Johnny’s dance partner Penny needs an abortion, Baby loans the money to pay for the procedure and steps in to learn the routine to ensure the dancers’ employment the following summer,” it explains. “But when Baby asks her father, a doctor, to help Penny after the botched abortion, he bans her from seeing ‘those people.'”
The lyrics to the original “Time of My Life” include: “With my body and soul, I want you more than you’ll ever know/So we’ll just let it go; don’t be afraid to lose control, no/ Yes, I know what’s on your mind when you say, ‘Stay with me tonight.'”
The site Reformation Charlotte expressed concern over the church parody on Monday, writing, “One can only imagine God’s favor pouring out on this church as this production is being put on — because, you know, this exalts the name of Christ in every way.”
In his book, “Culture: Living as Citizens of Heaven on Earth,” the late preacher A.W. Tozer wrote, “A new moral power will flow back into the Church when we stop preaching social adjustment and begin to preach social repudiation and cross carrying. Modern Christians hope to save the world by being like it, but it will never work. The Church’s power over the world springs out of her unlikeness to it, never her integration into it.”
The late preacher Leonard Ravenhill also once said, “God’s house is a dunghill tonight. It is a dunghill of poor theology. It is a dunghill of worldliness. And Jesus weeps over it.”

Former governor of Florida Jeb Bush and current Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted their approval of the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, which featured pop stars Shakira and Jennifer Lopez scantily-clad, engaging in numerous sexual gestures and with Lopez mounting a stripper pole. Former governor and current Sen. Rick Scott also remarked that the show was “great,” but that “America was robbed” by not including the rapper Pitbull.

“Best Super Bowl half time show ever,” Bush wrote, generating 152K likes as of press time.
“@shakira & @JLo featuring BadBunny & J Balvin with an A+ #PepsiHalftime at #SuperBowlLIV,” posted Rubio, who identifies as a “follower of Christ” on his page.
“Great halftime show from @JLo and @Shakira. But no @Pitbull? America was robbed. #Dale #LoveFL,” Scott tweeted.
View the tweets herehere and here.
The performance at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, which included the songs “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Waiting for Tonight”, was decried by many on social media as being “inappropriate,” “sexually provocative,” “nasty,” “vulgar” and “soft porn.”
“Singers J. Lo and Shakira paired up for a 15-minute raunchfest of thongs and crotch shots and stripper poles and writhing around on the floor,” also wrote Daily Wire writer Joseph Curl. “At one point in the show, the two stars stood side by side and just shook their butts. Cue closeups.”
“And throughout, the female backup dancers were even more scantily clad, while the male dancers went hardcore S&M. Often, there were children dancing on the stage,” he wrote. “The whole thing was more appropriate for J Lo’s latest stripper movie, not prime time worldwide TV.”
The Associated Press reports that Lopez told the outlet on Saturday that she believed God ordained for her to be in the event this year.
“There were many years that I thought about doing the Super Bowl and that it was something that I wanted to do and even where I was talked to about it. This is when God choose me to do it,” she said. “This is when it was meant to be. This is when it was destined to be and we’re ready and we can’t wait. I can’t wait.”
According to reports, the halftime show was meant — in part — to celebrate women’s empowerment and the performers’ Latin American heritage, but some say that it rather objectified women as sex objects.
“We have had so much positive discussion about not treating women like sexual objects, then they go and do this. You can’t cry that women need to be treated better then support this display of sexual objectifying,” one commenter wrote.
Likewise, a number of followers of Bush, Rubio and Scott took issue with their approval of the halftime show.
“It was a glorified strip show. Disgraceful that young girls watching [may] think it’s okay to exploit your body like that,” one commenter wrote to Bush.
“Seriously? You share Scripture everyday! They were literally pole dancing on stage,” another wrote to Rubio. “He was [engaging in a simulated sexual act on] her, and then they brought young girls up to dance and twerk. It’s shameful. My daughter was disgusted; my husband left the room because she was so embarrassed.”
“[A]ny public figure that would go to Twitter to specifically praise that halftime show has lost my respect,” one commented about Scott.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

Super Bowl Halftime Show: Cultural Decay

Todd Friel: The Super Bowl Half Time Show was APPALLING
The Super Bowl Halftime Show was a DISGRACE
The Super Bowl LIV half time show featured J. Lo and Shakira in a racy, vulgar, and totally inappropriate performance for this supposedly family-friendly event. The Super Bowl should never have approved such a trashy performance. In this trashy to classy series, I like to examine elements of our culture that could be bettered and certainly this is an example of one of them.

DEMOCRATS CALL TRUMP "RACIST" AGAIN AS HE ADDS SIX NEW COUNTRIES TO "OUTRAGEOUS, UN-AMERICAN" TRAVEL BAN

DEMOCRATS CALL TRUMP "RACIST" AGAIN
AS HE ADDS SIX NEW COUNTRIES TO "OUTRAGEOUS, UN-AMERICAN" TRAVEL BAN
BY ROBERT SPENCER
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research

The Trump administration contends that the bans are for security reasons, that the countries in question cannot or will not provide adequate information about the people wanting to come in. This is entirely reasonable, but for the Left, concern for national security is “racist” and must be done away with.
“Democrats attack Trump as racist after he expands travel ban to six new countries,” by Victor Rantala, BizPacReview, February 2, 2020:
Democrats criticized the White House announcement that the United States will add six more countries to a controversial travel ban that originally was called a “Muslim ban” by the left, and that Joe Biden on Saturday called a new “African Ban.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led the charge in opposition to the travel ban expansion, describing it as “discrimination disguised as policy.”
“The Trump administration’s expansion of its outrageous, un-American travel ban threatens our security, our values and the rule of law,” her statement reads. “The sweeping rule, barring more than 350 million individuals from predominantly African nations from traveling to the United States, is discrimination disguised as policy.”
To no one’s surprise, she added that Democrats will do all in their power to resist the president. “In the Congress and in the Courts, House Democrats will continue to oppose the Administration’s dangerous anti-immigrant agenda. In the coming weeks, the House Judiciary Committee will mark-up and bring to the Floor the NO BAN Act to prohibit religious discrimination in our immigration system and limit the President’s ability to impose such biased and bigoted restrictions.”
On Friday, Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf told reporters that after a “systematic review” of all countries, six nations were added to the travel ban list: Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania.
Prior to this latest expansion, restrictions on immigrant and non-immigrant visas were in place for seven countries, to include Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.
After enduring multiple court challenges to the original travel ban, the Supreme Court upheld its constitutionality in 2018.
According to Wolf, the additional six nations have lighter restrictions than the original seven. “These countries, for the most part, want to be helpful, want to do the right thing, have relationships with the U.S. and are in some cases improving relations, but for a variety of different reasons failed to meet those minimum requirements that we laid out,” he said. “And really the only way to mitigate the risk is to impose these travel restrictions.”…

Numerous verified leftists on Twitter reacted to Rush Limbaugh’s announcement that he was suffering from “advanced lung cancer” by celebrating the news.
The veteran radio host broke the news earlier today on his show, telling his viewers, “I can’t help but feel that I’m letting everybody down with. The upshot is that I have been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.”
Blue check marks on Twitter couldn’t contain their delight.
“It’s not cool to joke about Rush Limbaugh having cancer. You might jinx it,” said writer Johnny McNulty.
null
Writer and director Xavier Burgin called Limbaugh “an odious, white supremacist, scum of the Earth” and said his cancer should be celebrated as “good news for Black History Month.”
“Seeing a lot of people celebrating the news about Rush Limbaugh. And I just want to say good. Carry on,” remarked GQ writer and Bernie Sanders supporter Freddie Campion.
NYT bestselling author Jamie Ford reacted to Limbaugh’s cancer by equating him with a fascist and commenting, “History is a harsh mistress.”
John Tayler tweeted, “It’s only fitting that this cancer upon the world should be stricken by it.”
null
Left-wing website Raw Story taunted Limbaugh by bringing up an old show in which the radio host had said “I would like a medal for smoking.”
Media Matters’ Oliver Willis reacted to the tragic news by calling Limbaugh a sexist.
Numerous other leftists in a Huffington Post thread announcing Limbaugh’s lung cancer also reacted with glee.
“At least one of my prayers was answered,” remarked one.
“Sometimes, every once in a while, there is a tiny bit of justice,” added another.
“May he suffer a painful humiliating death, the same way he humiliated others, Amen. Enjoy Hell Rush,” remarked another.
“F--k Rush Limbaugh. Also, f--k his cancer for being 40 years too late,” said Christopher M Ohlhoff.
These are the same people who will assert the moral high ground at every available opportunity.
In reality, they’re amoral monsters who want to see people suffer painful deaths simply because they hold different political opinions.

  • Promotes a highly politicized and biased agenda, placing sole blame for the continuation of the conflict on Israel and paying little attention to legitimate Israeli security concerns or Palestinian terrorism against Israeli civilians. This includes calling the security barrier “illegal,” ignoring the fact that the barrier was built in the wake of the second intifada in which Israeli civilians were the targets of near daily suicide bombings.
And how does World Vision justify its anti-Israel bias?
We are Christian:  “We seek to follow Jesus — in his identification with the poor, the powerless, the afflicted, the oppressed, and the marginalized … in his challenge to unjust attitudes and systems; in his call to share resources with each other …”
Unfortunately, truths including Israel’s history, justice, the history of jihad and the Palestinian leadership’s aim to obliterate Israel since 1948 are of little concern to a group which claims to “follow Jesus.”
This isn’t the first time World Vision has been implicated in promoting jihad terror. The Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs and Public Diplomacy reported:
World Vision is a well-established international Christian relief organization that has operations in the Palestinian Authority and the Gaza Strip. Hamas’s military wing recruited Mohammed Halabi in 2005, and in 2010 Halabi became Regional Manager of World Vision in Gaza until he was arrested in 2016. During this time, Halabi took advantage of his position and transferred aid, equipment and relief packages sent by World Vision to Hamas, which were used to pay the salaries of Hamas operatives, and support the construction of terror tunnels and Hamas’ military buildup. Approximately 60% of the NGO’s Gaza branch’s annual budget was transferred to Hamas.
There are still those who argue for Halabi’s innocence, but the Religion News Service reported in 2016 that “the Shin Bet said in a statement that Mohammed El Halabi admitted to being a Hamas activist.”
“Evangelical Charity Knowingly Funded Group Sanctioned For Funding Terrorism,” by Adelle Nazarian, Daily Caller, January 31, 2020:
World Vision International, an international evangelical Christian humanitarian aid, development, and advocacy charity that is active in nearly 100 countries paid funds to a Sudan-based organization, the Islamic Relief Agency (IRA), that allegedly provided financial support to the late Osama bin Laden.
The U.S. Department of Treasury sanctioned Islamic Relief in 2004 for giving support to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda’s Sudanese affiliate. Islamic Relief goes by several acronyms namely, IRA, ISRA and IARA.
Cliff Smith, Washington Director for the Middle East Forum, and Sam Westrop, Director of the Islamist Watch Program at the Middle East Forum, revealed their findings in an interview with The Investigative Journal this week. In February 2014, World Vision received a grant of over $723,405 from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and part of that money was earmarked for IRA.
“What we know for sure is there was a $39,000 start-up payment that was given to them before the grand payment we know about and then here was the $125,000 that was approved by Treasury after the whole scandal was written,” Smith said. It remains unclear exactly who in the Obama administration knew about the error in funding. Smith added, “they knew, and this is one of the few times you will hear me say this: I do not primarily blame the Obama administration for this. I primarily blame World Vision. USAID did not double-check and signed off on the grant without looking,” he said.
According to Smith, World Vision claimed that they would get kicked out of Sudan if they had ceased their relationship with IRA. World Vision continued its funding even after a meeting took place in which USAID, World Vision, and the Swiss-based NGO the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Smith said they were all in the same room when the IOM decided against working with IRA due to its terrorist links…..
