August 16, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Pope Francis recently named a new archbishop for the major French city of Marseille on the Mediterranean coast: Bishop Jean-Marc Aveline, 60, best known for his commitment to “islamo-christian dialogue.” His nomination is a clear message to the large Muslim community of Marseille, both North African and Sub-Saharan. The northern districts of the city are infamous in France for their poverty and insecurity, violent crime, and drug-trafficking.

Jean-Marc Aveline was since 2013 auxiliary bishop of Marseille; before that, he was its vicar general. He succeeds Bishop Georges Pontier, who was archbishop for 13 years and who will be formally replaced on September 15, when the new archbishop is installed at the Cathedral of La Major.

In 2017, Aveline was named president of the Council for Interreligious Relations of the French Bishops’ Conference….

Aveline would soon found the Institut de sciences et théologie des religions (ISTR, Institute of sciences and theology of religions), which he also directed from 1992 to 2002. The said institute clearly promotes a relativistic view of religions, putting the Christian faith and Islam on the “same plane,” according to comments by Catholic journalist Yves Daoudal, who made an in-depth study of the case of the “martyred” monks of Tiberihine: Father Christian de Chergé and six of his companions were killed by Islamists-cum–political opponents in this desert region of Algeria in 1996 and were beatified last December, despite their more than welcoming attitude toward Islam, its beliefs, and the Koran.

Aveline chose as a referent “thinker” for his ISTR a certain Fr. Christian Salenson, who succeeded him at the head of that institute in 2002.

Salenson, who was also former director of the Seminary of Avignon near Marseille, illustrated his religious syncretism in 2010 when he published a homage to Fr. Christian de Chergé, who among other things had placed the Koran in the chapel of his monastery and used it for the lectio divina of the community.

Lectio divina, or divine reading, is the traditional monastic practice of prayerfully reading and meditating on sacred texts in order to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of His word. It is normally done by reading the Bible. Substituting the latter with the purportedly “sacred” texts of a false religion, such as the Koran, is antithetical to its purpose.

But this sort of exercise is at the heart of modernist “Islamo-Christian dialogue,” as it is officially practiced in France’s mainstream Catholic bodies, which, instead of promoting friendship and understanding between Catholics and Muslims in view of facilitating conversions to the true Faith, place their efforts in illusory “sharing” between the Islamic and the Catholic faith as such, where theological discussions are presented as searching the truths and convergences in both, not taking into account their radical incompatibility.

In his 2010 text, Salenson explained that “through personal experience,” Christian de Chergé “knew that Islam is a way that can accompany men and women on the path to God.” “Vatican II confirms him in this opinion,” he added, underscoring the “sincere respect” for the “rays of truth” in other religions recommended by Nostra aetate. However, this text speaks of “esteem” for Muslims and not for “Islam.”

But he went even further, saying: “The Church would be hard put today to say what is precisely the place of Islam in God’s design, but she is just as unable to reject this religious tradition on principle.” Salenson went on to explain that Fr. de Chergé thought that “in the bosom of the Father, Muslims remain ‘His children of Islam.’ They are children of the Father not despite their religious belonging but as believers of Islam,” he wrote — as if Muslims could accept the concept of the Fatherhood of God.

Archbishop Aveline is very much in this line, which he condoned as founder and director of the ISTR.

La Croix, the unofficial daily of the French episcopate, also presents Jean-Marc Aveline as a “faithful craftsman of interreligious dialogue” who will fit in well as head of the diocese of a “plural city especially marked by the rise of rigorist currents of Islam.” It quoted Aveline as speaking of “this atypical small Church which resembles that of the Maghreb.” It also indicated that Aveline has meetings with the imams of Marseille every six weeks…

You can see from the impressive zebiba on Maurice Hill’s forehead that he is a devout Muslim; the zebiba is a bruise that forms from the fact that Muslims in their five daily prayers perform numerous prostrations, pressing their foreheads to the ground. The zebiba is seen as a mark of intense piety. That in itself doesn’t make this a jihad attack, but the teachings of the mosque, from the looks of this report, are clearly suspect; the mosque should be investigated. Maurice Hill, the criminal who wounded six police officers in a shootout in Philadelphia and was arrested after a seven-hour standoff, attended a radical mosque.

The mosque, called Masjid Ahlil Hadith Wal Athar, is known for preaching the Islamist ideology promoted by Saudi Arabia referred to as “Wahhabism.”

Clarion Intelligence Network has been aware through its sources that the area where the shootings took place is known for trafficking in guns, drugs and counterfeit items. This criminal market has a strong Islamist element that includes extremist gangs.

Hill’s older sister said he “occasionally attended” an unnamed mosque, confirming initial reports from our sources that Hill is a Muslim. The sources do not yet have first-hand evidence of the shooter being personally involved in Islamist extremism.

Clarion Intel’s sources report that Masjid Ahlil Hadith Wal Athar is a Salafi mosque which follows the theocratic teachings of Saudi Arabia’s top Wahhabist scholars.

At this point, there is no indication that Hill’s shooting of police officers was motivated by Islamism or anything other than a desire to resist arrest.

However, Islamism’s inherent hostility towards Western governments and values fuels anti-police bigotry that can justify violence against law enforcement. Clarion’s sources stated that many of the mosque’s attendees view the police as oppressors of Muslims….

Suspect in Philly Cop Shooting Prohibited from Possessing Firearms

Philadelphia/United States – -(AmmoLand.com)- The recent shooting of at least six police officers in Philadelphia is being used as a call for gun control. However, revelations that the shooter in question had a lengthy rap sheet is likely to cause this shooting to fade from the news. Second Amendment supporters should not let that happen.

Here’s the deal, like the Parkland and Sutherland Springs mass shooter, this was a person who could have been dealt with long ago by cops. Very early on, he was caught with a gun that had an altered serial number. That violation of 18 USC 922(k) should land someone five years in federal prison.

The Philadelphia shooter was busted numerous other times, including a 55-month sentence on gun charges in 2010 for two guns. That really should have been closer to 20 years, not roughly four and a half. It also does not include the numerous charges that were dropped or which didn’t result in convictions.

This is something anti-Second Amendment extremists will try to move on from. The Parkland shooter and the activists from there are an afterthought – largely due to the fact that the bumbling cowards of Broward County and the fumbles of the Federal Bureau of Investigation got out there. Sutherland Springs sputtered out because the fact that the killer there had a disqualifying conviction that was not in NICS became known.

When we talk about helping to alleviate concerns from the suburban voters that have been far too receptive to the siren song of Bloomberg’s gun-ban agenda, addressing things like NICS shortcomings and law enforcement failures are things that can do just that. This is especially important when anti-Second Amendment extremists try to push unjust infringements on our rights in response to a preventable tragedy.

Project Exile can do the same thing as those other items, and actually, serve as a pro-Second Amendment double play. When you look at cities like Chicago, Baltimore, and other cities with high rates of violent crime, Project Exile could be crucial to reaching out to these people, whose interest in the Second Amendment is far different than those of someone in rural Iowa or West Virginia. The provisions of 18 USC 922(d), 18 USC 922(g), 18 USC 922(i), 18 USC 922(j), and 18 USC 922(u) combined with sentencing enhancements from 18 USC 924 play a big role in this.

The benefits of supporting a revived Project Exile are obvious: We show suburban voters that we treat the misuse of Second Amendment rights seriously. Those in the crime-ridden urban areas, though, will see the worst of the worst get put away for a long time – after the express advocacy of Second Amendment supporters.

The shooter in Philadelphia is a classic example of the type of person Project Exile could take out of circulation before they got into a multi-hour shootout with cops (or cause some other tragedy). This guy’s rap sheet means that he could have been eligible for the armed career criminal enhancement provided by 18 USC 924(e) – a 15-year mandatory minimum.

Not many people know about these provisions. Tell a soccer mom that with proper action, potential shooters could be stopped with existing laws on the books that just aren’t used by the same folks demanding new laws, and have the proof with these laws being used to put other bad guys away, and we get a chance to convince them that at the very least they should not support new restrictions.

But to do that, we must have credibility, and to have that requires not falling for hoaxes that sound good, being aware of how our support for the Second Amendment comes across to others, and not making stupid mistakes that help Bloomberg discredit us and our arguments. Supporting a revival of Project Exile can build that credibility up.

Mercedes-Benz is the latest company to jump on the LGBTQ bandwagon with a new series of advertisements called, “The Many Colours of Pride.”

Pride Month is two months in the past now, but Mercedes-Benz isn’t finished virtue-signaling yet.

The latest ads from Mercedes-Benz Canada show members of the “LGBTQ+ community” explaining which color in the Pride flag resonates with them the most.

In the videos made specifically for the colors red, yellow, blue and purple, Arab Muslim activist and drag queen Halal Bae makes an appearance.

“I, as a drag queen, as a marginalized person, really identify with the spirit of pride,” Hala Bae says in the advertisement for the color purple.

“I’m a gender-queer drag performer in the LGBTQ community,” says another drag queen.

The Mercedes-Benz Canada Twitter account promoted the video, writing, “Join us in celebrating the values that unite us all. Today and every day.”

For several years, Russia and China have been ramping up their military operations in the Arctic, which would explain why President Trump is floating the idea of purchasing Greenland, or at least maintaining a presence on the island.

In a report entitled “President Trump Eyes a New Real-Estate Purchase: Greenland,” the Wall Street Journal focuses on Trump’s experience as a real estate developer, but when a proposed Greenland purchase is viewed through the eyes of an U.S. president privy to national security concerns, it becomes clear that Russia and China are major factors behind the decision.

For one thing, the National Defense Authorization Act 2020 already states that the US military needs to establish a strategic port in the Arctic:



SEC. 1099T. DESIGNATION OF DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STRATEGIC ARCTIC PORTS.
(a) Sense Of Congress.—It is the sense of Congress that—

(1) the Arctic is a region of strategic importance to the national security interests of the United States and the Department of Defense must better align its presence, force posture, and capabilities to meet the growing array of challenges in the region; and

(2) although much progress has been made to increase awareness of Arctic issues and to promote increased presence in the region, additional measures, including the designation of one or more strategic Arctic ports, are needed to show the commitment of the United States to this emerging strategic choke point of future great power competition.

The US was already at a disadvantage given that Russia has over 7,000 miles of coastline in the Arctic, not to mention that Putin already ordered a military build-up in the Arctic back in 2014.

“Russia is returning to the Arctic and ‘intensifying the development of this promising region’ so it needs to ‘have all the levers for the protection of its security and national interests,’ Putin said on Tuesday at an expanded meeting of the Defense Ministry Board,” RT reported at the time.

Additionally, China claimed it’s an “near-Arctic state” in its official Arctic Policy released last year and aims to create a “Polar Silk Road” in a partnership with Russia that would grant China an economic boost in the region – and the Pentagon has already taken notice.

“China aims to participate ‘in the exploration for and exploitation of oil, gas, mineral and other non-living resources’ in the Arctic,” reported The Diplomat. “However, the white paper also places a particular emphasis on nontraditional energy sources: ‘The Arctic region boasts an abundance of geothermal, wind, and other clean energy resources,’ the paper said, ‘China will work with the Arctic States to strengthen clean energy cooperation.’”

Naturally, an economic boost also provides China a military boost as well.

A 2008 US Geological Survey described the “tremendous resource potential” of the Arctic, estimating that there’s at least 90 billion barrels of oil and 1,670 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the Arctic that are “undiscovered and technically recoverable.”

Deceased sex pervert Jeffrey Epstein, the Wall Street financier and Deep Stater found dead in his cell on Saturday at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center (shown) in New York, got some special privileges in the forbidding lockup.

He spent time alone with a young woman in the attorney-client meeting room, and otherwise occupied the space for up to eight hours a day to escape the mind-numbing drudgery of his dreary cell.

What he and the young woman were doing, Forbes magazine didn’t report. Nonetheless, whatever went on, Epstein’s money permitted him to game the system before what authorities are calling his suicide.

Epstein, 66, faced a federal sex-trafficking indictment.

The unidentified young lady visited Epstein the day after authorities removed him from suicide watch, Forbes reported. Its source was another visiting attorney who witnessed the unusual rendezvous.

He “spent at least two hours locked up alone with a young woman,” the magazine reported, “in a private room reserved for inmates and their attorneys, according to an attorney who was visiting the prison that day.”

As well, the young woman carried no files, the visiting attorney told Forbes, and was dressed casually for “Sunday brunch.”

“The optics were startling. Because she was young. And pretty,” said the visiting attorney.... He speculated the woman could be a lawyer — NBC News has reported that Epstein paid members of his team to sit with him in a room for eight hours a day for attorney-client meetings, allowing him to avoid his cell.

The visiting attorney went to the Manhattan Correctional Center on July 30, a day after Epstein was reportedly taken off suicide watch and transferred into the Special Housing Unit (SHU). During the hours the visiting attorney was present, it wasn’t Epstein’s main lawyer, Reid Weingarten, or other named attorneys who visited him.

“If I was him, I would have hired ... an old bald guy,” said the lawyer, who said the young woman was in there with Epstein for at least two hours when he was there. He also pointed out that the room is locked when prisoners go in, after their handcuffs are removed, and unlocked only when prisoners leave and handcuffs are put back on.

Weingarten and other attorneys representing Epstein have not responded to requests for comment by Forbes.

Beyond those “bad optics,” however, is this: Epstein’s control “was a sore point for attorneys trying to visit their clients. Instead of waiting 15 minutes for a room, the wait could stretch for two hours, as it was that day.”

The SHU, the complaining lawyer told Forbes, has only two rooms for attorneys to visit clients. “That means Epstein was monopolizing a scarce resource,” the magazine observed. The chief of a nonprofit that represents federal defendants told Forbes that monopolizing the room had another effect: “Eighty percent of all federal defendants are represented by my office, or assigned private attorneys who are paid statutory amounts, and they are sitting there [waiting]. That’s just taxpayers dollars ticking off the clock.”

The visiting attorney also told the magazine that Epstein’s treatment “sounded to me like a replay of the Florida thing where he got to go to the office ... and sit around rather than sit in the cell.”

That comfortable arrangement occurred after Epstein struck a plea deal that allowed him to skate away from a federal sex-trafficking charge in 2008 and plead guilty to a lesser state child prostitution rap. During that “sentence,” he wangled a “work release” billet and spent six days a week at his office, the magazine noted.

“It’s understandable why Epstein would want to avoid his cell,” Forbes rightly reported. “Conditions inside MCC are legendarily bad,” and Epstein’s lockup, SHU, is “even harsher. Inmates are housed in their cells 23 hours a day, and there’s only a tiny window letting in a sliver of natural light.

That description comports with what a former inmate described in a letter to the New York Post.

Noting that he didn’t believe Epstein committed suicide, the anonymous author explained how frightening the facility is. Some guards are on a “power trip,” he wrote, and know when an inmate will break psychologically. They do what they can to see that he does:

The damage that unit can do to someone.

It’s like you’re an animal and you’ve been brought into a kennel. A guy like Jeffrey, it’s like, “Holy sh-t.”

I told my parents not to come there. God wasn’t in the building.

I’ve had some heavy incidents in the building. What happened is permanent.

Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime bodyguard, Igor Zinoviev, cut an interview short when he was asked about previous comments he’d given four years ago, describing the billionaire hedge fund manager hanging out with teenage girls and receiving special treatment from police.

In an interview Monday, Zinoviev, a former MMA fighter who also served as Epstein’s driver and personal trainer, told New York Magazine he didn’t recall responses he’d given in a previous interview four years ago, in which he discussed the billionaire pedophile’s attraction to teenage girls, local police corruption and being insulted and humiliated by him.

NY Intelligencer writer M.L. Nestel, who had previously interviewed Zinoviev in 2015 for The Daily Beast, says he noticed this time the bodyguard, whose native language is not English, seemed very nervous.



“To be honest, I didn’t expect that he’d try to back away from the assertions he made in our original interview — but he did,” Nestel wrote. “He also seemed, it is safe to say, quite nervous about saying anything at all.”

In one instance, Zinoviev backpedalled to say he didn’t recall mentioning Epstein hanging out with teenage girls.

In a new Wall Street Journal column, Prager wrote that a video called ‘The Charlottesville Lie,’ from CNN’s Steve Cortes, was quickly moved to the ‘restricted list’ on Monday just hours after it was posted. ‘This happened two weeks after a Senate hearing at which a Google representative swore under oath that the company doesn’t censor based on political views,’ he wrote. ... Prager added that the video was also removed from Twitter after complaints from the left. He explained that a video from Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz called ‘Israel’s Legal Founding’ was also placed on the restricted list by Google-owned YouTube, along with Prager’s own video about the Ten Commandments. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, asked a Google representative at a recent hearing how ‘The Ten Commandments: What You Should Know’ made it onto a restricted list. The man said with a straight face, ‘because it mentions murder.’ ... Prager said Dershowitz told him in the upcoming film No Safe Spaces that he fears the left ‘much more than the right.’”

DEMOCRATS USE SUPERMAJORITY IN ILLINOIS TO FAST-TRACK LATE-TERM BABY MURDER LAW

JB Pritzker signed into law on Wednesday a bill that pro-lifers are calling the most ‘extreme’ late-term abortion measure in the country. ‘The governor and the Democratic supermajorities who fast-tracked this legislation have created a new death penalty in Illinois, with no possibility of appeal, for viable unborn preemies,’ said Peter Breen, former Illinois representative and vice president of Thomas More Society, in a statement. The Reproductive Health Act, or SB 25, establishes a fundamental right to have an abortion while removing all rights from the unborn. It repeals the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, legalizing late-term abortion, even when there is fetal viability, ‘to protect the life or health of the patient.’ The bill broadens the definition of ‘health of the patient’ to include (but not limited to) physical, emotional, psychological and familial health and age. ‘This bill is a horrible contradiction of fundamental scientific truths and the work that I do every single day,’ said Emily Kelly, a neonatal ICU nurse at a major Chicago hospital, according to Illinois Right to Life. ‘Under this law, every single one of my patients could be legally killed in utero in our state.’ Other provisions in the Reproductive Health Act include requiring private insurance companies to cover abortion with no exceptions for religious institutions explicitly made in the bill and allowing non-physicians, such as advanced practice registered nurses, to perform abortions. ... Gov. Pritzker said the new law is a ‘giant step forward for women’s health.’ ... ‘The legacy of this governor, and any legislator who voted to pass this law, will be that of cruel dehumanization of unborn Illinoisans on a mass scale,’ said Breen. ‘They will bear the legacy of thousands of late-term dismemberment abortions inflicted on perfectly healthy, viable children.’”
