Conservatives Demand Ouster of Senate GOP Leaders

Charging Senate Republican leaders with failure and betrayal, a group of conservative leaders is demanding the resignation or removal of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his deputies from their leadership posts.
“We call on all five members of the GOP leadership to step down or for their caucus to remove them as soon as possible,” Senate Conservatives Fund President Ken Cuccinelli said at a press conference Tuesday.
Those members consist of McConnell, Assistant Republican Leader John Cornyn (R-Texas), Republican Conference Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.), Republican Conference Vice Chairman Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), and Republican Policy Committee Chairman John Barrasso (R-Wy.). All are middle-of-the-road legislators; their cumulative Freedom Index scores range from Blunt’s 55 percent to Barrasso’s 72 percent.
In a scathing letter to McConnell, the conservative leaders stated:

2017 has been a disappointing year for the millions of Americans who fully expected, and had every right to expect real change in Washington. Republicans were given full control of the federal government. They — you — have done nothing. Worse, it is painfully clear that you intend to do nothing because, as is most apparent, you had no intention of honoring your solemn commitments to the American people. You were not going to “drain the swamp.” You are the swamp.

And that was just for openers. The letter listed several promises on which Senate leaders have reneged: stopping illegal immigration, shrinking the size of government, ending deficit spending, repealing ObamaCare, enacting tax reform, and defunding Planned Parenthood.
Failing to repeal ObamaCare was “perhaps the greatest betrayal,” the leaders wrote. Republicans, they maintained, control the White House and both houses of Congress because of their longstanding vow to expunge “the single most devastating piece of legislation against freedom ever crafted” from the books. “President [Donald] Trump and the House of Representatives have done their part,” they averred, perhaps overlooking the fact that every bill the House passed this year left significant portions of ObamaCare intact. “You sank it all.”
“The Senate under the leadership of Mitch McConnell has done nothing to honor their promises,” said Media Research Center President Brent Bozell. “Even worse, this Senate leadership has nothing on the horizon to honor these promises. It’s shocking that apparently the Senate leadership is virtually incapable or never had any intention of keeping faith with the American people. It’s been an absolute betrayal.”
The conservatives also faulted GOP leaders for failing to confirm Trump’s judicial nominees. “There are more than 100 vacancies in the federal judiciary and there are more vacancies today then there were on the day that Donald Trump was sworn in as president,” said Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots. “Because the Senate has taken off so much time they’ve only confirmed six, six nominees not named Gorsuch.”
In their letter, the leaders pointed out that while the House has passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Protection Act “three times” — most recently, last week — and Trump “has publicly stated his eagerness to sign this legislation,” McConnell’s team has “not lift[ed] a finger to advance this bill” and Cornyn has called it “not a short-term priority.”
In addition, they criticized Senate leaders for doing things that serve their own interests and those of their donors at the expense of ordinary Americans, such as “deceitfully advancing the Export-Import Bank.”
On top of all that, they claimed that McConnell, et al., have engaged in “vicious, continuous, merciless attacks on grassroots Republicans, but most especially conservatives.”
“America,” they told McConnell, “is too good for you to lead it.”
“This pattern of failure of McConnell’s gang of five leadership team, while loathing and attacking their own base, the most loyal bloc of voters that has elected them, and all of their caucus members, can no longer be tolerated,” declared Cuccinelli.
“If this was a football team and you’ve lost this many times, you’d start firing the coaches,” said ForAmerica President David Bozell.
According to the Daily Caller, “Most of the leaders demurred when asked who could replace McConnell as majority leader.” Cuccinelli said it was “up to the caucus” to pick more principled and effective leaders. But given that these same people chose the current leaders, how likely are they to select better ones next time?

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) fell from grace at astounding speed. From being touted as the Obama administration's “global partner” in globalizing education just a few years ago, to facing a massive financial crisis and even a U.S. government exit today under President Trump, UNESCO is on track to become a byword for globalist corruption and tyranny. It also offers Americans a powerful example of how easy it is to restore ceded U.S. sovereignty and crush globalist schemes that undermine liberty, morality, self-government, and common sense. Israel also announced its departure. Now, it is time to focus on the broader United Nations.
Today, the U.S. State Department formally notified UNESCO boss Irina Bokova — an actual communist swamped in corruption scandals — that the United States is leaving the organization. In a statement, the U.S. State Department said the decision “was not taken lightly.” The reason for the decision, officials said, includes “U.S. concerns with mounting arrears at UNESCO, the need for fundamental reform in the organization, and continuing anti-Israel bias at UNESCO.” More on each of those important points in a moment.

In its official statement, the Trump administration said the U.S. government “indicated to the Director General its desire to remain engaged with UNESCO as a non-member observer state in order to contribute U.S. views, perspectives and expertise on some of the important issues undertaken by the organization, including the protection of world heritage, advocating for press freedoms, and promoting scientific collaboration and education.” But pursuant to UNESCO's Constitution, the U.S. will withdraw, with the decision taking effect on the last day of 2018 — despite intense lobbying by globalists and foreign powers.
Speaking about the Trump administration's decision, widely criticized UNESCO Director-General Bokova issued a statement touting UNESCO and expressing regret over the U.S. government's move. “At the time when conflicts continue to tear apart societies across the world, it is deeply regrettable for the United States to withdraw from the United Nations agency promoting education for peace and protecting culture under attack,” she said. “This is a loss to the United Nations family. This is a loss for multilateralism.” Multilateralism is another term for globalism.
Even before the Trump administration announced an “Amexit” from UNESCO, though, relations were already strained. Thanks to 1990s federal laws banning U.S. funding of international organizations that admit the “State of Palestine” as a member, even under the Obama administration, the U.S. government was forced to cut off most American financial support to the UN agency. Of course, Obama tried hard to get around that — and even found creative ways to illegally send U.S. tax money — but the hole in UNESCO's budget, close to 25 percent of its budget, was still catastrophic. UNESCO claims U.S. taxpayers “owe” it about half of a billion dollars at this point. Other major donor governments, reacting to UNESCO's extremism and corruption, also withheld funding.
Among the most serious problems identified by critics around the world was UNESCO boss Bokova. Despite support from international communism and leading establishment globalists such as the Rothschild dynasty, among others, Bokova, a longtime communist operative from Bulgaria, has become infamous worldwide for lawlessness and corruption. She originally joined the Bulgarian Communist Party as a youth member, despite the party's track record of mass murder and brutality. She later served in senior posts in the communist regime, which murdered hundreds of thousands of people — something for which she has never apologized. Her father was a high-ranking communist bigwig, too. That helped to secure Bokova's spot at the KGB-controlled Moscow State Institute of International Relations, an elite training center for future communist spies and operatives.    
The stench of corruption scandals has been swirling around Bokova for years, as well, much of it exposed by investigative watchdog group Bivol. From lying on her résumé and owning luxury properties around the world that her tax-funded income could not possibly account for, to using public money and handing out “awards” to people in positions of influence in her campaign to lead the UN, to appointing cronies without qualifications to top posts, Bokova has attracted scrutiny worldwide. Most recently, she was exposed by Bivol for using her luxurious UN-funded apartment-office in Paris as the registered address for a shadowy business named after her and her husband. Her husband, another communist operative burrowed into an international organization, is already under investigation in Bulgaria for mega-corruption and huge alleged bribes from murderous regimes.
Bokova's corruption is so extreme and so well known that, in addition to destroying UNESCO's reputation, her own staffers been been begging for external audits and investigations. As The New American reported, a large number of UNESCO staffers sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, a fellow socialist linked to Bokova's communist network through his leadership of the Socialist International, pleading for help. To protect herself, though, Bokova is working hard to ensure that a “friendly” candidate takes over when she leaves her post later this year. The New American was the first publication to report, citing insider sources at the agency, that she was considering a Communist Chinese operative as ideal for the post. Today, the communist agent has been widely reported to be a front runner.
Even the “legitimate” activities of UNESCO under Bokova's leadership have drawn fierce criticism from defenders of liberty, national sovereignty, common sense, education, science, culture, Christianity, biology, and more. Consider, for example, a recent report disgorged by UNESCO that demands propaganda in textbooks pushing globalism, statism, the “LGBT” agenda, and other “values” that the UN agency claims all children must possess. The UN agency has also been fiendishly working to sexualize children as young as four-years old with perverse and wildly inappropriate “sex education.” And that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to UNESCO, which has long been seeking to standardize “education” around the world using, among other tools, the radical “World Core Curriculum” modeled on the bizarre teachings of Lucifer Publishing Company founder Alice Bailey.     
On Israel, UNESCO has long been criticized for its bizarre obsession with demonizing the tiny Jewish state. Most recently, the disgraced UN outfit came under criticism for adopting a resolution last year describing Israel as an “occupying power” while downplaying the historical Jewish connections to the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, and more. Also sparking outrage was the resolution's reference to the “Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif” as holy Muslim sites, completely erasing the historical and religious links of Jews to the sites. In 2015, UNESCO passed a similar resolution purporting to rename famous Jewish historical and religious sites with Arabic names, again sparking global outrage. Adding fuel to the fire, just today voting UNESCO member states gave a plurality of votes to Qatari candidate Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, widely accused of anti-Semitism, in the race to be the outfit's next leader.
According to UN Watch, each year, UNESCO adopts about 10 resolutions criticizing a particular country. Unsurprisingly, considering the UN agency's membership roster, 100 percent of those resolutions target the state of Israel, with one exception occurring in 2013 when Syria was condemned in one resolution. The obsessive focus on Israel has become so extreme that more than a few prominent Jewish and non-Jewish critics have referred to UNESCO as systemically anti-Semitic. UNESCO is among the worst when it comes to UN agencies, many of which consistently demonize Israel more than all other governments and dictatorships combined.
Following Trump's lead, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling the U.S. government's move “brave and moral,” also announced that his government would be withdrawing from UNESCO. “This is a courageous and ethical decision because UNESCO has become a theater of the absurd and instead of preserving history, distorts it,” he added. Netanyahu has previously accused the UN outfit of promoting “fake history.” Other senior Israeli officials also praised Trump's decision. “Today is a new day at the U.N., where there is price to pay for discrimination against Israel,” Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon was quoted as saying.
But while it may have gotten more extreme and more corrupt under Bokova, UNESCO has a long and sordid history of extremism and corruption. In fact, this is actually the second time the U.S. government has withdrawn from UNESCO. The agency's extremism and hostility to basic liberties got so outlandish that, by 1983, President Ronald Reagan decided to formally cancel the U.S. government's membership in the Soviet-dominated outfit, along with American funding for it. In a series of scathing statements about the organization, senior U.S. officials lambasted the UN agency and its collectivism. U.S. State Department officials, for example, said UNESCO “has extraneously politicized virtually every subject it deals with.”
The UN agency's totalitarian extremism, which has accelerated in recent years under communist operative Bokova's tenure, was another key issue in Reagan's decision. UNESCO “has exhibited hostility toward the basic institutions of a free society, especially a free market and a free press, and has demonstrated unrestrained budgetary expansion,” officials said, lambasting the organization for wasting money promoting Soviet schemes and other totalitarian absurdities.
President Reagan's Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations Gregory Newell, meanwhile, said at the time that, despite frequent warnings from U.S. officials, UNESCO has “served anti-U.S. political ends.” Specifically, Newell cited “misguided policies,” including “collectivist” schemes that promote “group rights” at the expense of individual rights. He also blasted UNESCO's promotion of licensing schemes for journalists, its obsession with imposing a “New International Economic Order” in which taxpayers in freer countries are fleeced so their wealth could be redistributed to the UN and oppressive Third World regimes, and numerous other problems.
The U.S. government re-joined UNESCO in 2003 under neoconservative President George W. Bush. “As a symbol of our commitment to human dignity, the United States will return to UNESCO,” Bush claimed, without explaining how joining a dictator-dominated organization dedicated to anti-American ideologies and plagued by scandal would be a symbol of commitment to “human dignity.” Bush also claimed, falsely, as it turns out, that the organization had been “reformed.” Recent events and actions by UNESCO prove that the outfit has not only not “reformed,” but that it is actually worse today than it was in 1984 when the U.S. government withdrew.
The Trump administration made a very wise decision in exiting UNESCO. But it is not enough. While it is a key agency, UNESCO is merely one tentacle of the globalist-controlled monster that is the UN dictators club. To protect the liberties and self-government of the American people over the long term, Congress must act. Fortunately, there is legislation already introduced in Congress, the American Sovereignty Restoration Act (H.R. 193), that would end all U.S. government involvement with the dictators club. Now it is up to the American people to push the effort over the finish line by educating their communities and their elected representatives.

US withdraws from UNESCO over its anti-Israel bias

This is most welcome and long overdue. Next step: withdraw from the UN entirely and kick it out of New York. UNESCO (like the UN as a whole) is simply a tool of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Last year it passed a resolution declaring the Temple Mount Muslim, not Jewish. It renamed the Western Wall “Al-Buraq Plaza.” And those were just two of its ridiculous moves, defying history, reason, and any fair treatment of Israel.
This is a good step. Now, Mr. President, take the next one.

The United States plans to withdraw from UNESCO, citing financial reasons, as well as what it said was an anti-Israel bias at the U.N.’s educational, cultural and science organization.
The decision to withdraw from UNESCO, which the United States helped found, was announced Thursday morning by the State Department, which said the United States would remain involved as a nonmember observer. It will take effect at the end of 2018.
It marks yet another decision by the United States to distance itself from some parts of the international community.
Some of the United States’s closest allies are among UNESCO’s 195 members. France’s U.N. ambassador, Francois Delattre, had urged the United States to remain in UNESCO this week, saying the United States “must stay committed to world affairs.”…
But the United States has at times had an ambivalent relationship with the Paris-based organization. The government stopped paying its dues in 2011 after UNESCO voted to include the Palestinian Authority as a member.
And senior Trump administration officials — including U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley — have been critical of the organization….

 DALLAS, Texas — A blasphemous Baptist minister in 
Texas known for his book “The Queering of an American Evangelical” says 
that he supports polyamorous—or plural—relationships and believes that 
God Himself is polyamorous.

“The Holy Trinity is a polyamorous relationship,” Jeff Hood, who holds a doctorate with a focus in “queer theology” from Brite Divinity School and who was ordained at a church within the Southern Baptist Convention, asserted during a recent Patheos interview with Chuck McKnight.
“You can’t talk about the level of intimacy and ecstasy that these three beings are constantly experiencing without defining their relationship in such a way,” he claimed. “Their love has always been and will always be a shared phenomenon. In the Holy Trinity, love is never denied. We should spend our lives making sure that the love of polyamorous individuals is never denied and always protected. The Holy Trinity demands it.”
Hood has stated before on his website that he believes that “the disciples and Jesus were involved in some sort of polyamorous relationship.”

In August, he told Jennifer Martin of Splinter that he thinks polyamorous relationships reflect the Trinity.
“Not only is polyamory a positive thing, I think it’s a holy thing,” Hood opined. “I think it mimics the personhood of God. Different relationships can show us different things, and I think polyamory can show us what the Trinity looks like.”
Hood has also outlined that he believes that because “love is love,” polyamorous relationships should be supported just like same-sex relationships.

“While there could be many explanations of the polyamorous God, the one that matters the most is this: God dwells within the oppressed and marginalized (Matthew 25). Polyamorous folks are constantly oppressed and marginalized,” he told McKnight. “God is polyamorous, and if we want to get saved than we have to figure out a way to become connected to polyamory.”
Hood acknowledged during the interview that his views are rejected by many Christians, who he called “church [expletives] that have no knowledge of God.”
“Do these people sound like they know anything about love? [Expletive] no. I ain’t listening to a [expletive] word they say,” he said. “I know who I’m listening to. I hear the voice of God, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can can love Me and condemn polyamory, for I am polyamorous.'”
Hood’s views on the subject have been met with mixed reaction.
“God explicitly condones polygamy and the whole Bride of Christ is polygamous,” one commenter wrote.
“Plural unity within the Trinity is not polyamory,” another stated. “What people want to do is their business; however, if you feel the need to justify it scripturally, at least be less sloppy when you try. Otherwise you’re just preaching to the choir, so to speak.”
“Jeff Hood is clearly biblically ignorant. His so-called knowledge of God comes from Satan,” a third wrote.

 The Boy Scouts of America announced on Wednesday 
that girls will soon be allowed to become Cub Scouts and to earn the 
coveted rank of Eagle Scout, the organization’s highest honor.

“We believe it is critical to evolve how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children,” said Michael Surbaugh, chief executive of the Boy Scouts.
The scouting board of directors voted unanimously to make the historic change in an organization that has been primarily for boys since its founding more than 100 years ago.

Starting next year, young girls can join Cub Scout units, known as dens. Local scouting organizations can choose to have dens for girls and dens for boys. "Cub Scout dens will be single-gender — all boys or all girls," the organization said in a statement.
A separate program for older girls will be available in 2019, the Boy Scouts said, enabling them to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
The Boy Scouts said the moves reflect the changing nature of American life, adding to the appeal of a scouting program that can serve the entire family.
 BSA said it commissioned two nationwide surveys that showed parents not involved in scouting had high interest in getting their daughters signed up for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Girls are now part of four scouting programs — Venturing and Sea Scouting, geared toward outdoor activities; Exploring, a career-oriented mentoring program; and STEM, focusing on science and math. But those programs have not offered a path to Eagle Scout for girls.
Earlier this year, the National Organization for Women urged the Boy Scouts to admit girls to the entire program, supporting the efforts of a New York teenager, Sydney Ireland, to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, as her older brother did.
"I just want to do what the Boy Scouts do — earn the merit badges and earn the Eagle Award," she told NBC News. "The Girl Scouts is a great organization, but it's just not the program that I want to be part of. I think girls should just have the opportunity to be a member of any organization they want regardless of gender."
In the past, the Girl Scouts have been cool to the idea of admitting girls into the Boy Scouts, citing research that showed many girls learn best in an all-female environment.
"We are unparalleled in our ability to build great female leaders who contribute to society at every level," said Andrea Bastiani Archibald, a psychologist who helps guide the Girl Scouts.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) announced October 11 that it will acquiesce to “requests” that it allow females into its ranks, welcoming girls into its Cub Scout program (traditionally for younger-aged boys) and offering “a Scouting program for older girls that will enable them to advance and earn the highest rank of Eagle Scout,” according to a BSA press release.
In a statement, the BSA’s CEO Michael Surbaugh insisted that the move “is true to the BSA’s mission and core values outlined in the Scout Oath and Law. The values of Scouting — trustworthy, loyal, helpful, kind, brave, and reverent, for example — are important for both young men and women.” He added that it was necessary for the BSA to change “how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children. We strive to bring what our organization does best — developing character and leadership for young people — to as many families and youth as possible as we help shape the next generation of leaders.”
The organization explained that beginning in 2018, parents will have the option to enroll a daughter into Cub Scouts, with existing packs choosing to establish a new girl “pack,” establish a pack that consists of separate girl “dens” and boy dens, or remain an all-boy pack. The organization emphasized that “Cub Scout dens will be single-gender — all boys or all girls.”

Similarly, by 2019 the Boy Scouts will establish a program for older girls that will allow them to go through the traditionally all-boy program and even earn the coveted “Eagle Scout” rank — a singularly prestigious honor that over the past century has been bestowed upon such notable men as astronaut Neil Armstrong, President Gerald Ford, adventurer Steve Fossett, film director Michael Moore, former Texas Governor Rick Perry, General William Westmoreland, and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, to name just a few.
The latest move is consistent with a conspicuous cultural cave-in the BSA has suffered over the past several years. While for over a century the Boy Scouts steadfastly maintained a policy against immoral behavior and lifestyles, in 2014 BSA officials announced that the organization would allow boys who self-identify as homosexual to join its ranks.
And while it had faced a high-profile scandal that revealed decades of the abuse of boys by scout leaders, in 2015 the organization announced that it would allow openly homosexual adults to serve as scout leaders.
The Associated Press reported that the latest BSA policy change “was hailed by Zach Wahls, an Eagle Scout who played an active role in pressuring the BSA to end its ban on gays. However, he urged the Boy Scouts to take one more step and end its exclusion of atheists and non-believers who do not profess a 'duty to God.'”
However, many others have responded to the BSA cultural cave-in by ending their involvement in the Boy Scout program and putting their boys into alternative programs such as Trail Life USA, which states that its mission is “to guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others, and experience outdoor adventure.”
Among those criticizing the latest BSA policy change is the leadership of the Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA), which understandably fears that the welcoming of girls into Boy Scouts will result in fewer girls joining GSUSA. But it is also ironic, since the Girl Scouts’ own cultural slide from traditional values has also led to many parents choosing alternative youth programs such as American Heritage Girls.
Lisa Margosian, chief customer officer for GSUSA, said that her organization was “blindsided” by the BSA announcement. “We’ve had 105 years of supporting girls and a girl-only safe space,” Margosian said. “So much of a girl’s life is a life where she is in a coed environment, and we have so much research and data that suggests that girls really thrive in an environment where they can experiment, take risk, and stretch themselves in the company of other girls.”
In August GSUSA President Kathy Hopinkah Hannan sent a letter to BSA President Randall Stephenson accusing his organization of trying to recruit girls into the BSA at the expense of the Girls Scouts. “I formally request that your organization stay focused on serving the 90 percent of American boys not currently participating in Boy Scouts ... and not consider expanding to recruit girls,” Hopinkah wrote in her missive.
Hannan wrote that “despite offering to engage in a constructive, collaborative sharing process, we were disappointed in the lack of transparency as we learned that you are surreptitiously testing the appeal of a girls' offering to millennial parents.” She also accused BSA leaders of making “disparaging and untrue remarks about Girl Scout programming,” and making “subtle implications about the weakness of Girl Scouts' long term market strength.”
The New York Times quoted one longtime Boy Scout Leader, Joseph Carballo, whose two sons are Eagle Scouts, as saying that girls have no place in Boy Scouts. “Boys and girls should have separate organizations for activities,” he said. “There is an organization for girls. It’s called the Girl Scouts.”
Similarly, Bob Adelmann, an Eagle Scout and longtime writer for the The New American, decried the Boy Scouts' continued slide into cultural compromise. “The Boy Scouts was at one time in our nation an esteemed and worthy organization because of its commitment to helping form generations of boys into solid and dependable young men,” he recalled. “Now it has become little more than a sad footnote in history, known more for compromise than commitment to the boys and families it claims to serve. The welcoming of girls into its ranks is one more predictable step on its way to irrelevance.”

Here is yet more evidence that the State Department is a swamp that has yet to be drained, and may never be drained.
Munira Khalif may be a wonderful U.S. Youth Observer to the United Nations, even if her statement here is full of the expected platitudes (“empower,” “diversity,” “globalized world,” etc.). But she was clearly chosen for her symbolic value. She is a living, walking symbol of the State Department’s anxiousness to show that the United States is not “Islamophobic.” She is a demonstration of the State Department’s determination to “empower” Muslims and show our “diversity,” so as to refute the jihadist narrative that the U.S. is at war with Islam, which will keep Muslims in the U.S. from becoming “alienated” and joining the jihad.
The whole idea is based on the assumption that Muslims turn to jihad because of the injustices suffered by Muslims at the hand of the U.S., and so if the U.S. is nice to Muslims, the jihad will end. This is based on completely ignoring the teachings about jihad in the Qur’an and Sunnah, and so is doomed to failure, but that doesn’t keep the deep state State Department wonks from trying and trying, again and again.

I’m so honored and excited to have been selected as this year’s U.S. Youth Observer to the United Nations. To start off the year, I wanted to officially introduce myself.
My name is Munira Khalif, and I was born and raised in Minnesota. I study Economics and minor in Government at Harvard University. As a Somali-American, I grew up aware of the reality that not all children have the opportunity to attend school—especially girls. By no fault of their own, millions of children are deprived of the opportunity to advance their own lives and that of their families and communities.
There is an African proverb that exclaims, “If you educate a boy, you educate an individual. If you educate a girl, you educate a nation”. Education has the power to transform — not only individuals — but our world. With this in mind, I co-founded Lighting the Way. The youth-run organization focuses on making education more accessible for young people in East Africa — especially girls. Lighting the Way works to provide scholarships, build libraries, and sponsor teachers. In addition, I served as a Teen Advisor for the United Nations Foundation campaign Girl Up. Girl Up mobilizes American girls to empower and support the world’s hardest-to-reach adolescent girls in developing countries to be safe, healthy, educated, counted, and positioned to be the next generation of leaders. Through Girl Up, I have had the opportunity to speak on the importance of girl’s education at the United Nations Head Quarters on the first inaugural Malala Day and to lobby alongside other youth advocates to pass the Girls Count Act.
I applied to be the next U.S. Youth Observer because I believe in the power of young people to bring forth immeasurable change. Often times, international institutions like the United Nations can seem daunting. In turn, we believe that our voices don’t matter. But the reality is that the United Nations needs a diversity of voices to be able to solve the complex issues of the world. More importantly, when issues that affect young people are being discussed it is intrinsic that we have a seat at the table. As the U.S. Youth Observer, I will work to ensure that young Americans have a seat at the table. I will leverage my platform to amplify the voices, ideas, and concerns of young Americans at global policy discussions.

A Hungarian MP slammed billionaire George Soros and supporters for attempting to dilute the spirit of Europe with “the forced settlement of tens of millions of migrants.” He claimed there is a Christian duty to fight what he called “Satan’s Soros” plan.
The lawmaker in question, Andras Aradszki, who represents the Christian Democratic People’s Party (KDNP), claimed that “Soros and his comrades want to destroy the independence and values of nation states,” as cited by the Budapest Beacon.
According to Aradszki this is happening “for the purpose of watering down the Christian spirit of Europe with the forced settlement of tens of millions of migrants.”

“But the fight against Satan is a Christian duty. Yes, I speak of an attack by Satan, who is also the angel of denial, because they are denying what they are preparing to do — even when it is completely obvious. They frantically try to prove that there is no [refugee] quota, there is no compulsory settlement, and the Soros Plan does not exist,” Aradszki noted.
“The national consultation is an outstanding opportunity for us to make our opinions known about Satan’s Soros Plan,” he concluded. On Sunday, the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, Gyorgy Bakondi, warned of the implications of the “Soros Plan.”
“This may have serious consequences for the sovereignty of member states, for the nations themselves, and also with regard to the security of European citizens,” he pointed out.
Soros stated in 2015 that the “EU has to accept at least a million asylum-seekers annually for the foreseeable future. And, to do that, it must share the burden fairly.”
“Adequate financing is critical,” the billionaire wrote. “The EU should provide £10,000 (€15,000) per asylum-seeker for each of the first two years to help cover housing, health care, and education costs – and to make accepting refugees more appealing to member states.”
Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has repeatedly blamed Hungarian-born Soros of fueling the refugee crisis in Europe, said that “Brussels has come under George Soros’s influence.”
“We have revealed the existence of the Soros plan, and the drafter himself admitted that it exists. We have placed it in the focus of politics,” the prime minister said in an interview to public radio on Friday.
In July, Orban accused Soros of using the EU in order to create a “new, mixed, Muslimized Europe,” according to AP. The prime minister said that Soros is now more powerful in Brussels than in Washington or Tel Aviv and he argued that European institutions should fight to limit his influence.
He noted that reforming Europe can only begin by stopping illegal migration into the EU and that Hungary’s border defenses will help with that effort.
Late last month Orban called on Hungarians to participate in the government’s public survey on the “Soros plan,” noting that it will help the country shield itself from migration. The survey dubbed “national consultation” will ask Hungarians for their view on whether or not Hungary should become an immigrant country.
“We want a Hungarian Hungary and a European Europe,” Orban said on the first day of parliament’s autumn session.
Last week Goran Buldioski, director of Soros’ Open Society Initiatives in Europe, told AP that Soros and his foundations support “more coherent and humane policies for helping to resettle migrants fleeing oppression and violence in their homelands” but that “there is no such thing as a global conspiracy against Hungary.”
Hungary is engaged in a bitter row with the EU over the refugee relocation quotas, together with Poland and Slovakia. The issue dates back to the EU decision made in 2015 to rehouse some 160,000 refugees from Greece and Italy over a period of two years, only around 27,700 of whom have been settled so far.
Hungary claimed in September that its fences on the borders with Croatia and Serbia had helped to cut the inflow of migrants by 99.7 percent since 2015. The small inland nation now has one quarter of the length of its borders protected by a fence. The Hungarian border fence has been repeatedly criticized by other European countries, as well as by EU politicians, but Budapest has resisted pressure to remove it.
