On Tuesday, I wrote R.C. Sproul Jr. Resigns from Ligonier Ministries & Reformation Bible College for Undisclosed Reasons.
Those reasons are now known. R.C. Jr. was arrested for driving under
the influence with a child in the vehicle. He has been charged with two
misdemeanors and two felonies. More on that shortly.
1 Timothy 3:3 and Titus 1:7 lay out the requirement that an overseer must not be given to wine. The Greek word is paroinos. It is composed of a preposition, para, and a noun, oinos. Para means “by the side of” and oinos means “wine.” Literally, an overseer must not be “by the side of wine.”
The KJV translation is best, “Not given to wine.” In his lexicon, John Henry Thayer translates paroinos, “one who sits long at his wine.”
Those who know R.C. Sproul Jr. know he has a history of sitting long
by his alcoholic beverages. That includes his parents, his pastors,
leaders in his denomination, and leaders in Ligonier Ministries. His
givenness to drink is widely known.

Those who have personally witnessed RC
Sproul Jr consuming prodigious quantities of alcohol know that tossing
back a 1/2 pint or more of whiskey, on an empty stomach, in less than an
hour, isn’t unusual for him.
This blog has been sounding the alarm for
over ten years that RC Sproul Jr has a serious drinking problem. For
the most part those warnings have gone ignored, and RC Jr himself has
outright mocked those concerns.
As far as he’s concerned he always “drinks in moderation.” But given
that he has often rendered an opinion on “moderation” while he’s drunk
he hardly qualifies as an expert on that subject. Some have voiced
concern that RC Sproul Jr is an alcoholic and is in desperate need of
rehab.
We’ve long been aware that RC Sproul Jr
routinely gets behind the wheel inebriated, endangering himself and the
lives of others, including his own family members. It’s remarkable he
hasn’t long ago killed himself and perhaps a few others.
Many members of St. Peter Presbyterian
Church, the church that he started in Virginia, and then subsequently
resigned from after his defrocking in 2006,
often witnessed RC Sproul Jr inebriated, including at various church
celebrations (i.e. keggers). It was commonplace at those church parties
that minor children were served alcoholic beverages, including drinks
spiked with Everclear (190 proof grain alcohol). RC Sproul Jr fostered a
culture of heavy drinking at St. Peter Presbyterian Church, not just
with church members but also with the pastors he invited to his “Pastor
Camps” (open bars were the norm). He was also known to turn a blind eye to drunk driving.
Drinking beer, wine or liquor is not sinful. Drinking too much and
coming under their intoxicating effect is. Ephesians 5:18 (ESV) says,
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled
with the Spirit.” Debauchery is excessive indulgence in sensual
pleasures. It is far better to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
This is why Paul the apostle lays out another qualification for men in ministry. They must be temperate (Gr., nephalios, 1 Tim. 3:2 and Tit. 2:2). Nephalios
means “sober…abstaining from wine either entirely…or at least from its
immoderate use” (Thayer), “not self-indulgent,” (Getz)
“well-balanced…careful” (Hendriksen).
“Such a person lives deeply. His pleasures are not primarily those
of the senses, like the pleasures of a drunkard for instance, but those
of the soul. He is filled with spiritual and moral earnestness. He is
not given to excess (in the use of wine, etc.) but moderate, well
balanced, calm, careful, steady, and sane. This pertains to his
physical, moral, and mental tastes and habits.” (William Hendriksen, New Testament Commentary, Exposition of First and Second Timothy and Titus (Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1968), p. 122).
The intemperate and intoxicating use of alcohol by R.C. Jr. should
have been addressed by his pastors, denomination, and Ligonier
Ministries as a disqualifying sin in his life. They let it pass. Now
he is going off to jail unless his lawyers find a way to prevent it.
There is shared responsibility for this tragedy. I also wonder who
allowed him to drive drunk with his child in the car.
This lack of temperance, which is a dangerous and disqualifying sin,
also resulted in R.C. Sproul’s “visit” to the Ashley Madison. Ashley
Madison is a perverse website used to arrange illicit relationships for
the purpose of fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and lesbianism.
There he set up an account. He denies doing so but it is one of the

Last night, the Christian Post ran this story, R.C. Sproul Jr. Resigned From Ligonier Ministries After Felonious DUI Arrest With Minor in Vehicle. It summarized the charges this way.
“Sproul was charged with two class A
misdemeanors: operating a vehicle with alcohol concentration equivalent
to .15 or more, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a
person. Under Indiana law both charges attract up to 365 days of jail
time, probation for a year, and the suspension of a driver license for
up to two years.
“He was also charged with two
felonies for operating a vehicle while intoxicated or under the
influence of a controlled substance with a passenger younger than 18,
which attracts a penalty of six months to three years in jail and up to
$10,000 in fines under Indiana law.
“In addition, he was slapped with the felony charge of neglect of a dependent in a way that the dependent was endangered.”

The arrest was made on November 29 which was a week or two after his marriage to Lisa Sproul.
She appears to have three children. R.C. Jr. has eight children. In
all likelihood, he is tragically off to jail. No one wishes that for
his new wife or family.
Knowing full well about his arrest, the Ligonier Board nevertheless put out this statement on Monday.
Last Friday, the board of directors of
Ligonier Ministries and Reformation Bible College received and affirmed
the resignation of Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr. He is stepping away from his
duties at the ministry and the college for personal reasons. This was
communicated by phone to his father, Dr. R.C. Sproul, the founder of
Ligonier Ministries and chancellor of Reformation Bible College, and it
was later communicated in writing to the entire board of directors of
Ligonier Ministries.
We support the Sproul family and give
thanks for the many edifying contributions of Dr. Sproul Jr. over the
years through his work at the ministry and the college. We believe he
will be well cared for by his church during this time of transition, and
we pray for him in his future endeavors.
R.C. Jr. was arrested on November 29. He “resigned” ten days later
on December 9. Ligonier Ministries told the world it was for “personal
reasons” on December 12. Now we find out the truth on December 16. I
agree with the following excerpt.
High-placed business execs, as well as
political staffers, have often been told, “We need to terminate our
relationship. We’re asking you to resign.” Implicit in the message is,
“We’re giving you the opportunity to save face by resigning. If you
don’t resign we’ll have no choice but to fire you. That will look bad
for you, but it will also look bad for us because we were the ones who
were stupid enough to hire you in the first place. Now just look at the
mess you created. So please tender your letter of resignation pronto.
And feel free to say you’re leaving for whatever reasons you like. If
you can’t come up with something good then just say, ‘I’m resigning for
personal reasons’.” …
The remarkable brevity of Ligonier’s
“thanks” is a strong statement of just how bad things must have become
between they and RC Sproul Jr. They might as well have said, “Don’t let
the door hit you on the way out.”
It’s actually not at all unreasonable for
us to take some cues from the world of politics, for based on its track
record Ligonier Ministries is very political organization. Take for
example, “He is stepping away from his duties at the ministry and the
college for personal reasons.” How many times have we heard the same
exact statement when the head of some political agency has been forced
to resign over some scandal? Rather than acknowledging the obvious
reason that they were fired they are allowed to resign for vague and
unspecified “personal reasons.” This is, of course, nothing but a smoke
screen, and none but the most naive will buy it. …
Did Ligonier Ministries and Reformation
Bible College fire RC Sproul Jr? Given RC Sproul Jr’s scandal-laden
track record it’s a question that many people are reasonably asking.
Unfortunately neither Ligonier nor RC Jr are being at all forthcoming,
and given their respective track records it’s unlikely they’ll divulge
anymore than they already have.
I didn’t write about it in my last post,
but there were indications in the Ligonier statement above that a
convoluted process lay behind the resignation. It wasn’t a simple
matter of resigning for personal reasons. A lot more was going on.
First, the statement said, the board of directors received and
affirmed the resignation. Second, it said R.C. Sr. was informed by
phone. Third, the resignation was later communicated in writing to the
entire board.
That raised several questions for me. For example, R.C. Sproul Sr.
and his wife Vesta are on the 13-person board. R.C. Sr. is the
chairman. Why then did he need a phone call when he and his wife
supposedly already received and affirmed the resignation of their son
per the statement?
In a similar way, why was the reception and affirmation “later
communicated in writing to the entire board of directors”? They already
knew per the statement above. Further, it was bizarre that mom and dad
learned about the resignation from the board and not their son.
And lastly, the super abbreviated, “We…give thanks for the many
edifying contributions of Dr. Sproul Jr. over the years through his work
at the ministry and the college.” R.C. Jr. was the cornerstone for the
future of the ministry. Here’s what was said in part when he was
appointed rector and chair of philosophy and theology in the bible
college.
On the occasion of this announcement, Dr.
R.C. Sproul Sr. said, “We are grateful to God for Dr. Sproul Jr.’s
unwavering commitment to Scripture and service to Reformation Bible
College, and we look forward to many more years of his teaching and
leadership as we seek to educate the next generation of Christian
leaders in the things of God. He has seen the impact of Ligonier
Ministries from the beginning, knows how I approach theological matters,
and in this way, provides us with yet another way to maintain
theological continuity and fidelity for the next generation.”
Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr. brings a wealth of
experience in teaching and administration to his new role at RBC. …
Most importantly, his firsthand knowledge of the life and ministry of
the founder of Reformation Bible College—Dr. R.C. Sproul Sr.—will
provide steady guidance as the college endeavors to be faithful to Dr.
Sproul Sr.’s vision to teach nothing but the historic truths of biblical
Christianity as understood in the consensus of the Reformed tradition.
R.C. Jr. was positioned for “many more years of…teaching and
leadership.” He was also on the board of directors and a prestigious
teaching fellow. Practically speaking, there were also huge
implications for him resigning as rector of theology and professor of
apologetics in the middle of the school year. I thought, “What is going
on?” And why would R.C. Jr. give up his high positions and hefty six
figure salary and benefits? We now know.
One last point, the resignation was “received and affirmed.” So how
did this affirmation occur? Probably by a vote in which the majority
board members prevailed and called for his resignation. If so, that’s
why it was necessary to inform R.C. Sr. and the “entire” board after the
fact.
Ten days transpired between the arrest and the resignation. During
that time, there must have been intense discussions and negotiations on
what to do and what to say. In the end, R.C. Jr. agreed to resign and
they agreed to say nothing about his arrest. Oh, my Lord! Why couldn’t
they just be honest! Did that ever occur to them?
R.C. Jr. should have said he was stepping down from all his positions
because he was just arrested and may face jail time. Then he should
have publicly asked forgiveness for his sinful example and its effects.
The Ligonier Board should have said they could no longer keep R.C. Jr.
in their employment given the charges and the reproach that has been
brought to Christ. Instead, the truth was covered up but with
consequences.
When R.C. Jr. was about to be exposed by hackers for Ashley Madison
in August 2014, he put out a deceptive and deceitful “confession.” It
was full of pretention and manipulation. Just as bad, Ligonier
Ministries knew the statement was bogus but they promoted it as the one
and only explanation for his actions. That is why I confronted Chris
Larson, the President & CEO of Ligonier Ministries, after
interacting with him and other over six months. The following is an
excerpt.

I couldn’t believe you were directing
people to a statement you knew contained false and misleading
information. In that moment, I realized you, and I must assume Dr. R.C.
Sproul Sr. and the Ligonier Board, were committed to covering up for
R.C. Jr. by promulgating his false narrative! …
Chris, I invite you to repent by the
grace of Christ. Then I hope you will be used of God to lead R.C. Jr.
to repentance along with all the related parties who have covered up for
him. By “covered up” I mean not exposing his false narrative but
instead promoting it. The evidence of repentance will be a public
confession by R.C. Jr., you and the Ligonier Board.
Dr. R.C. Sproul Sr.’s greatest work and greatest contribution to the
church is his teaching and book on the holiness of God. I highly
commend it. And yet, the handling of his son over the years has been
unholy. The same is true for the board of directors and other leaders
who are familiar with R.C. Jr.’s disqualifying sins.
One can profess Scripture as their normative authority but it means
nothing unless they embraced Scripture as their causative authority. In
other words, the Bible commands us what to believe and it commands us
how to behave. The former without the latter is called hypocrisy.
Partiality and favoritism combined with nepotism are lethal. In this
case, it could have gotten people killed. This is yet another blow to
my confidence that Ligonier Ministries will do what is right and
biblical in times of temptation. Like so many other men and ministries,
they have shown a greater concern for their own reputation than the
reputation of Christ. As a result, the gospel has been harmed and their
credibility greatly diminished. And now one of their chosen is facing
serious criminal charges. The book of Lamentations is in order.

As EU leaders convened in Brussels, Hungarian leader Viktor Orban
angrily lashed out at Angela Merkel because of her lax immigration
policies that have created such a crisis in her country. Orban warned
that the Muslim migrant crime problem in Germany would spill over into

Even Merkel finally admitted
to the problem with Muslim migrants, a problem that she caused, when

shame that while thousands of German citizens were being attacked and
molested, she was still saying to Germans “we can do this.”
Back in July, Orban stirred controversy when
he “described the arrival of asylum seekers in Europe as ‘a poison’,
saying his country did not want or need ‘a single migrant.'”
Meanwhile, Sweden, a country battered by Muslim migrant crime and no-go zones, has been “backing Italy’s demands Brussels cut funds to states who do not take their fair share of asylum-seekers.”

The hard-line prime minister accused Germany of trying to
pass the buck for its “mistake” letting in so many people by sending
them to other countries under an EU quota scheme.
He launched into a vicious tirade as he arrived in Brussels for a
meeting of the EU Council this morning, vowing once again that Hungary
will not accept the controversial policy.
The get together of the 28 European heads of Government is expected
to be dominated by the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo and the possibility
of further sanctions against Russia.
But Mr Orban was more keen to talk about the issue of migration,
claiming that the majority of arrivals in Europe are “economic migrants”
and not genuine refugees.
He blasted: “We are still fighting over the mandatory migrant quotas.
The Hungarians don’t want what the Germans, or to be precise, Angela
Merkel demands.
“The Germans and other countries who made the mistake of letting
these people into the EU are now trying to share them out, so every
country also inherits their problem. Hungary doesn’t like this
approach.”
Mr Orban also set himself on the warpath with eurocrats by vowing to
do everything in his power to block the scheme, which 98 per cent of
Hungarians who voted rejected in a national referendum earlier this

The leader of the tiny Baltic state expressed sympathy for Theresa
May’s attempts to negotiate a sensible deal with Brussels, and said her
country would use its influence to press for constructive talks.
Several, including Greece’s Alexis Tsipras and Belgium’s Charles
Michel, answered questions on the day’s other agenda items but
conspiciously fled the cameras when the thorny subject of Britain was
raised.
And others stuck rigidly to the European Union’s official policy that
there can be “no negotiation without notification”, reiterating their
calls for Mrs May to trigger Article 50 as soon as possible.
Finnish PM Juha Sipla would only say: “We will start in the end of March that’s for sure.”
And Luxembourg’s Xavier Bettel tetchily answered: “I think that we
are still waiting for Article 50 to be triggered by the British
government. This has to happen for us to start the negotiations. We will
not negotiate before. These are the conditions that must be respected.”
Outgoing EU Parliament chief Martin Schulz told reporters: “I hope
that the Article 50 will be triggered as soon as possible, as the
earlier the easier it is for me to answer your questions.”
And EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini instantly shut down
all questions on the subject, sighing: “That’s not foreign policy yet.”
Leaders of the 28 EU member states will discuss a variety of issues
at today’s meeting including the situation in Syria and the possibility
of further sanctions against Russia, the ongoing response to the migrant
crisis and the drive to create a European army.

this? The pope is equating Mary and Joseph to Syrian and Islamic Jihad

homeless. Now they are representatives of illegal immigrants and

It’s a website called JihadWatch.org. This is the headline: “Pope: Christmas Reminds Us That Jesus Was a Migrant.” It wasn’t very long that Jesus was homeless. Well, his parents were homeless.
The homeless used Mary and Joseph to raise sympathy and awareness for
the plight of the homeless and tried to frightened people and say, “You
know what, if you deny that man and wife shelter, that could be the
next Mary and Joseph because, you know, Mary and Joseph were homeless,
and the Christ child was born of homeless parents who were turned out by
an equally mean society.”
And now they’re doing it with jihadists. Now they’re doing it with
illegal immigrants. Now they’re doing it with refugees. And I’m gonna
tell you something, folks. Besides Angela Merkel and Obama, you gotta
put the pope right in there with world leaders who are helping to spread
and sanction this whole idea of Islamic supremacism based on the fact
that we all need to share Islamic guilt. Comparing Jesus to the
invaders of Europe who are committing all of these atrocities?
My gosh, the left has just infected everything that it has touched.
It’s a poison. Christmas reminds us that Jesus was a migrant. Yeah, I
remember when Jesus killed 130 people in Paris. I remember when Jesus
wiped out people in San Bernardino. And I remember when Jesus attacked
the military at Fort Hood. Yeah. I remember when Jesus hijacked three
airplanes and flew them into the World Trade Center. What kind of
insanity is this? It’s everywhere, and it’s all because Hillary Clinton

Trump winning and winning by a very high margin, despite Hillary being
vanquished, despite the left suffering defeat after defeat, the MSM is
still doing the same damnable thing they’ve always done. They are
trying to set the agenda, trying to destroy the win, trying to tell the
American people that they really didn’t choose this man who is not
a globalist politician, but an outsider businessman. They are trying their
very best to get everyone to talk about what they’ve determined

of this idiocy proclaimed by the main stream media started during a debate,
and late in the campaign there were allusions to the fact that somebody
had those 33,000 emails of Hillary’s and was going to release them,
but it never happened. During the debate, Trump cracked a joke, "Maybe
the Russians can find them." That's all they've got, because the
media folks are totally humorless. The media, like rabid dogs, are foaming
at the mouth and drooling over this joke cracked by Trump, making it into
something it is not. It’s utterly despicable.

Joins Stein Recounts
Jill
Stein’s so-called recount has proven there were even more votes
for Trump. In the Wisconsin day-five recount update, 32,423 votes for
Hillary Clinton were erased resulting in a 28,830-vote net increase for
Donald Trump. [Link]
"According
to Wanda Murren, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of State,"
the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Monday, "the deadline for a voter-initiated
recount was Monday, Nov. 21." Stein missed it.
Jill
Stein may have turned up massive voter irregularities, but they're not
the kind Democrats were hoping to find. In heavily-Democratic Detroit,
more votes than voters were found across the city and now state Republicans
are calling for an investigation. According to the Detroit News, voting
machines in more than one-third of Detroit precincts counted more votes
than the actual number of voters who showed up. The statewide recount,
which was stopped by a judge, could not be performed in those precincts
and others.
The
fact that Hillary joined with Stein is hilarious. Remember what she said
during the debate when Trump refused to say whether he would accept the
outcome of the election? He was right to say that knowing the outrageous
voter fraud perpetrated again and again by the Democratic socialists.
In the
third debate, Trump answered Chris Wallace’s question about accepting
the outcome of the vote, by saying, “I’ll let you know at
the time.”
Clinton, thinking she’d be the winner, responded, “That’s
horrifying.”
She
went on to say, “That’s not the way our democracy works. We’ve
been around 240 years. We’ve had free and fair elections, and we’ve
accepted the outcomes when we may not have liked them, and that is what
must be expected of anyone standing on a debate stage during a general
election. President Obama said the other day that when you’re whining
before the game is even finished it just shows you’re not even up
to doing the job.”
She
added, “And let’s be clear about what he’s saying and
what he means. He’s denigrating—he’s talking down our
democracy. I for one am appalled that somebody who is the nominee of one
of our major two parties would take that kind of position.”
Clinton
was later asked by reporters about Trump’s statement at the debate
and she said, “I truly doubt he has ever read the Constitution.”
Well
Hillary, we’re a representative Republic, not a democracy, although
I know you would prefer the latter. I also know you were taught the Constitution
in high school by our teacher, Paul Carlson, just like I was, and we know
you read it in law school, but all you’ve ever done is trample it
under your feet.

says Russian Hackers
Even
Limbaugh has been quoted by The
Hill, saying no one can prove Russia hacked the election, and they
agree with him!
Grasping
at straws, because there is no proof whatsoever of Russia hacking anything
to do with the election, but the media and their socialist comrades in

Now,
a group entitled, Unite
for America, is using celebrities (if you can call them that) to urge
electors to break the law and change their votes to Hillary.
The
video, released on Wednesday by the group, is framed as a public service
announcement with celebrities such as Martin Sheen, Debra Messing, and
James Cromwell begging Republican members of the Electoral College to
cast their votes against Donald Trump on Dec. 19.
“Thirty-Seven
Electors can be American heroes by voting their conscience for a real
leader,” the group says on its YouTube page. It is the first and
only video uploaded by Unite for America.
The
group’s website, UniteForAmerica.org, describes the organization
as a “multi-partisan movement” of “concerned citizens,
organizations, unions and grassroots networks formed in the wake of the
2016 Presidential Crisis.”
What
crisis? There is no crisis…the American people voted, and decided
who they wanted, and soundly rejected Hillary Clinton, and the other also-rans.
Despite the group’s reference to alleged foreign influence in the
presidential election, (Vladimir Putin sham) a trace of the group’s
URL shows that its website was registered in a foreign country.
According
to a search on ICANN WHOIS, a website that provides public access to data
on registered URL names, UniteForAmerica.org was
created on Nov. 26 with internet service provider Tucows Inc., located
in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. [Link]
Isn’t
this just typical? These celebrities, most of whom are socialists, and
many who are avowed communists, have decided they must interfere with
the will of the American people.
Conclusion
Our
new president should be confirmed by the electoral college on December
19th, and then inaugurated on January 20, 2017. Our Constitution was followed,
and he was rightly elected by the people, despite huge Democratic voter
fraud.
Donald
Trump is not perfect, and as far as I’m concerned has already made
a couple glaring mistakes in choices, especially for Education Secretary,
but the vast majority of his choices have been superb, and we need to
give the man time. He will make mistakes, but he has no problem rectifying
them and saying, “You’re fired.”
I’ve
even watched him invite those who were his enemies during the campaign
to meet with him. I do believe this man holds no grudges and has tried
to bring all of them into the fold to work for what is best for America
and her people. His attitude is a Christian one, and one we haven’t
seen from our presidents in far too long.
The
fact that these leftist rabble-rousers cannot accept the will of the people
without trying to destroy our Constitution and the electorate’s
choice, is typical of their failure to accept America’s rejection
of their socialist candidate.

LYNCHBURG, Va. —Liberty University, which heralds itself as the world’s
largest Christian university, is set to become the first educational institution
in the nation to open an on-campus firing range.
“We have a very pro-Second Amendment student body,” President Jerry Falwell told the Washington Post this week. He said that one of the reasons for the shooting range is
because he believes those with malicious intent are more likely to carry
out their attacks at facilities that are marked as “gun free zones.” “It’s where the terrorists are most likely to strike,”
Falwell stated. “[Students and their families] don’t want to see
anything happen here like at Virginia Tech, where nobody was able to
fire back.”
This week, Liberty applied for a permit to begin
construction on what it called a “nationally recognized, full-scale
shooting, training and competition center.” The 13,000 square-foot
facility will have pistol, rifle and shotgun areas, as well as outdoor
archery and skeet shooting spaces, and will cost at least $1 million to
construct.
School officials discussed their ideas with the National Rifle Association before proceeding with plans.
Students with concealed carry permits are currently allowed
to have guns on campus, and for the past year, Liberty University has
offered a free firearms course, which it states has enrolled 1,600 thus
far.
However, as previously reported,
Falwell generated criticism over his mindset about firearms last
December when he made comments about “ending [murderous] Muslims” in
light of the San Bernardino massacre in California. He urged students to
obtain concealed carry permits so that they would be ready to take
out Muslims intent on bloodshed should they show up at Liberty
University.
“I’ve always thought, if more good people had concealed
carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in and
killed them,” Fawell stated to the student body, receiving unreserved
applause.
“I just wanted to take this opportunity to encourage all of
you to get your permit. We offer a free course,” he said. “Let’s teach
them a lesson if they ever show up here.”
He went on to reTweet social media posts in support of his
remarks, including one that read, “S*CK IT, Muslim extremists,” adding a
link to the school’s gun course.
Falwell’s comments especially raised concern among members
of the Fairfax County School Board, which urged the Virginia High School
League (VHSL) to discontinue hosting state championships at Liberty
University.
“We are deeply disturbed by the comments of Liberty
University Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. … urging more than 10,000 of
his assembled students to obtain handguns and stating that ‘we could end
those Muslims before they walked in,’” it said in a letter in April.
While the League did ultimately pull out of Liberty, it said it was for financial reasons and not due to the board’s letter.

President-elect Donald Trump announced on Thursday evening he will
nominate attorney David Friedman to serve as the next American
ambassador to Israel.
“The bond between Israel and the United States runs deep, and I will
ensure there is no daylight between us when I’m president,” Trump said
in a statement published on his transition team’s website.
“As the United States’ ambassador to Israel, David Friedman will
maintain the special relationship between our two countries. He has been
a long-time friend and trusted advisor to me. His strong relationships
in Israel will form the foundation of his diplomatic mission and be a
tremendous asset to our country as we strengthen the ties with our
allies and strive for peace in the Middle East. Nothing is more critical
than protecting the security of our citizens at home and abroad.”
The 57-year-old Friedman — a Jewish Long Island native — was
regularly consulted with by Trump on Israel-related matters during the
presidential election campaign.
“I am deeply honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me by
President-elect Trump to represent the United States as its ambassador
to Israel,” Friedman said in statement on Thursday. “I intend to work
tirelessly to strengthen the unbreakable bond between our two countries
and advance the cause of peace within the region, and look forward to
doing this from the US embassy in Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem.”
Friedman — a founding partner of Kasowitz, Benson, Torres &
Friedman LLP — was referring to Trump’s campaign promise to move the
American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The litigation and bankruptcy law expert will take the place of Dan
Shapiro, who has served as the US envoy to the Jewish state since 2011.
In a pre-election interview with The Algemeiner in
early November, Friedman said that a Trump administration would not
expect Israel to uproot its citizens who now live in the West Bank and
east Jerusalem as part of any future peace deal with the Palestinians.
“It is inconceivable there could be a mass evacuation on that
magnitude, in the unlikely event that there was an otherwise
comprehensive peace agreement,” Friedman said. “It makes no sense for
Judea and Samaria to be ‘Judenrein [void of Jews],’ any more than it
makes sense for Israel to be ‘Arabrein [void of Arabs].’ It’s not fair.”
This would mark a departure from the Obama administration, which
criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this year
after he said, as reported by The Algemeiner, that the main obstacle to peace was the demand of Palestinian leaders for the “ethnic cleansing” of Jews from the West Bank. Friedman went on: “The critical thing is to recognize that
there is not going to be any progress on a Palestinian state until the
Palestinians renounce violence and accept Israel as a Jewish state.
Until that happens, there is really nothing to talk about in terms of a
political process.”
What a Trump administration would not do, Friedman said, “is put its
finger on the scale and try to force Israel into a particular outcome,
but rather will support Israel in reaching its own conclusion about how
to best achieve peace with its neighbors.”
“We trust Israel,” he continued. “We think it is doing an excellent
job of balancing its respect for human rights and its security needs in a
very difficult neighborhood. Israel is a partner with the US in the
global war against terrorism. And we want our partner to be attendant to
that task and not distracted by foreign countries telling it what to
do. That’s really the overall premise of the policy — to respect Israel
as a partner, and not to unduly influence its decisions.”
Furthermore, Friedman said, “The only thing that makes sense now is
to take small steps to try to improve circumstances on the ground and
provide encouragement and assistance to Palestinians who are not
pursuing a hateful agenda.”

Facebook has announced it will
empower Snopes, an organization with a clear left-wing bias, to bury
so-called “fake news” on its news feed, a move that clearly opens the
door for the outright censorship of conservative content and opinion.
“To
combat fake news, Facebook has partnered with a shortlist of media
organizations, including Snopes and ABC News, that are part of an
international fact-checking network lead by Poynter, a nonprofit school
for journalism located in St. Petersburg, Florida,” reports Business Insider.
This
network will identify stories it deems to be “fake news” and then flag
the URL, ensuring the story is buried in users’ news feeds and seen by
significantly less people.
One of the organizations on the list
tasked with burying “fake news” is Snopes, which represents a clear
conflict of interest given that Snopes is clearly not impartial.
As the Daily Caller reported,
Kim Lacapria, Snopes’ main political “fact checker,” describes herself
as “openly left-leaning” and a liberal. She has previously equated Tea
Party conservatives with jihadists
Lacapria
“regularly plays defense for her fellow liberals,” according to Peter
Hasson, and has betrayed her partisan bias on numerous occasions by
defending Hillary Clinton and claiming that Orlando nightclub terrorist
Omar Mateen wasn’t a Democrat when he was actually a registered
Democrat.
Lacapria even denied that
Facebook’s burying of trending news topics was an issue after Facebook
employees admitted it was happening and Facebook subsequently vowed to
change the policy.
Does this sound
like someone who is impartial? Or does it sound like someone who, given
the power to do so, will exercise bias by burying conservative opinion
as “fake news” even when such content is perfectly legitimate?
Snopes
itself is run by a left-wing couple based out of California. These are
the people who will be deciding what’s “fake news” and what isn’t.
Snopes is run by a couple of far-left liberals in California.
The
list also includes the Washington Post Fact Checker, an inclusion that
will also raise concerns given that only last week the Post had to admit that
it couldn’t “vouch for the validity” of a Russian propaganda blacklist
that a story published by the newspaper was entirely based on.
Another
name on the list of organizations that will police “fake news” for
Facebook is ABC News, an outlet that still employs Brian Williams even
after he spread the fake news that he was under RPG fire while
helicoptering in Iraq.
Facebook has basically empowered a bunch of highly partisan left-wing mainstream media outlets to bury “fake news”.
Given that the mainstream media is distrusted by around two thirds of Americans, an image blackened further by Wikileaks revelations about innumerable journalists being in bed with the Clinton campaign,
how can an institution with such low levels of trust be handed the
power to flag and bury so-called “fake news” without abusing it?
