OKLAHOMA CONFERENCE TOUTS NULLIFICATION AS BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW & OUR PATRIOT CHRISTIAN FOUNDERS AS EXAMPLES OF PROPER ROLE OF CITIZENS TOWARDS GOVERNMENT

OKLAHOMA CONFERENCE TOUTS NULLIFICATION AS BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW
BY
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

“God does His greatest work when the hour is darkest.” So says Paul Blair, pastor of Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, and leader of Reclaiming America for Christ, founded by the late Dr. D. James Kennedy. And indeed, in America the hour is dark. But what to do?
The annual conference of Reclaiming America for Christ might be a start. Scheduled for July 24-25 at First Baptist Church in Moore, Oklahoma, the gathering promises practical applications for Americans who are fed up with a federal government gone off the rails. Quite simply, the purpose is to teach Christian apologetics and a biblical worldview to those who want to better understand how Christians should approach civil government, and to learn how to reclaim their country.
As the name implies, the theme of this year’s conference, “Restoring the Foundations,” emphasizes the importance of restoring the family, the church, and finally, civil government.
“With American Christians you have to start at the beginning.” With that statement, Blair was off and running in an interview with The New American. He explained,
The modern view [of American Christianity], which is almost gnostic, is that the church exists to deal only with getting us to heaven, and [that we are] not to soil ourselves with things of the world. That’s just not biblical. We’ve tried to pull Christians out of the world, but we are in the world! We’re to be in the world, just not of it.
So we have to understand Scripture and live every facet of our lives according to the gospel, including how we approach civil government. We haven’t done that, and as a consequence our civil government is now godless.
Blair continued,
The Christian faith is not emotional, or based on how we feel about things; it is fact-based. Apologetics simply means understanding that, knowing what’s true, why it’s true, and learning how to apply it every day.
Blair explained that he wanted to teach Christians a godly understanding of civil affairs:
The Founders believed in the laws of nature and nature’s God. They didn’t think of themselves as rebels; it was the king [of England] who was in rebellion — against God!
They sought to restore the proper balance of government, with God in His proper sovereign place. And pastors were the political experts of the day. Why would God call pastors to be biblical experts on everything else, but not on the affairs of civil government?
Though the Moore, Oklahoma, conference serves as an annual rally, is also a teaching tool for Christians, aiming to advance the cause of "restoring the foundations." Each speaker provides an introduction for those just beginning their grasp of a biblical worldview, but even those who are far down the path of understanding will find something new. Each year’s crop of speakers provides opportunities for attendees to hear someone they’ve never heard before, to be exposed to different ways of thinking, and to learn about new resources.
The three guest speakers at this year’s event are constitutional heavyweights and devout Christians. Author Josh McDowell, a leader in Christian apologetics, will address the need for Christians to be able to defend their faith, especially in the political arena.
McDowell is joined by Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, a non-profit organization providing pro bono representation on issues related to religious freedom, sanctity of life, and other topics. Staver is described as a bold Christian attorney who will speak on state sovereignty, informing churches on their roles in these matters.
Finally, constitutional attorney KrisAnne Hall will speak on state sovereignty and the genealogy of the U.S. Constitution. Hall’s remarkable personal story should give hope to all who fear that liberals may never see the light and become conservatives.
Blair continued,
We encourage folks to remember the Apostle Paul in Acts 17:11 when he spoke to the church in Berea. "They examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." And everyone should do that with the teaching about Christian apologetics and our Constitution. Study the documents and confirm [the truth] for yourself.
Next, Blair mentioned the constitutionally sound acts of nullification and interposition. The New American's Joe Wolverton defines nullification as follows:
Nullification is not the right of states to nullify any federal act. Rather, it is the right to choose to not enforce any federal act that fails to conform to the constitutionally established limits on its authority.
Interposition is the right of a state to "interpose" itself between its citizens and the fedeal government in order to keep the federal government from enforcing laws that the state deems unconstitutional.
Blair observed:
Regarding nullification and interposition, we don’t forget about that, as we believe it’s the rightful remedy — certainly considering the efforts we’ve launched since the Obergefell [Supreme Court same-sex marriage] decision. To those who say it’s impossible, we remind them that it’s being done! Consider "sanctuary cities," which have declared federal immigration law as" null and void" and refuse to recognize or enforce federal immigration law. These cities have been effectively nullifying federal law since the 1980s.
And then there are the four states and the District of Columbia that have declared "null and void" federal drug laws and have legalized the recreational use of marijuana.
Finally, in 2011, the federal Department of Justice declared "null and void" the Defense of Marriage Act and chose to stop enforcing that federal law. This was a federal agency nullifying the law of another federal agency!
So we believe wholeheartedly in nullification, and will be actively encouraging the state of Oklahoma to nullify the Obergefell decision, which dovetails with our effort to nullify Roe v. Wade in Oklahoma. And we’ll encourage our legislators that we’re behind them every step of the way.
Blair will deliver the conference’s closing charge, based on Romans 13, in which he’ll examine the proper role of civil government, then will press for the state of Oklahoma to ignore the Obergefell decision, not forgetting the organization’s original focus on Roe v. Wade.
As always, this year’s convocation is free and open to the public. For a deliberative and substantive study of how Christians can gain a solid constitutional understanding, it’s the only place in town.

Reclaiming Religion in America

Reclaiming Religion in America

BY
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
Paul Blair is pastor of the Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma; leader of Reclaiming America for Christ (RA4C); and former Chicago Bears offensive tackle. He recently spoke with The New American about RA4C’s call to pastors to stand up for righteousness following the Obergefellcase. Obergefell v. Hodges is the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case in which the court opined that the fundamental right to “marry” is guaranteed to same-sex couples.
Blair explained America’s biblical heritage and the necessity for pastors to take the lead in persuading lawmakers that nullification is the rightful remedy, and in supporting them in that decision. Blair’s plan is to launch national resistance beginning in Oklahoma, with hopes that the Sooner State will serve as a model for other states, starting with its neighbors Kansas and Texas. Pastor Blair is already in discussions with lawmakers in those states.
The New American: What do you perceive to be the real problem in America that led to Obergefell and other unconstitutional decisions?
Paul Blair: America is not 320 million individuals ruled by five non-elected attorneys. We all know this, it’s just been too long since we put it into practice. We’re a union of sovereign states who delegated few and defined powers to the government now residing in the District of Columbia. Our Constitution begins with “We the People” not “They the Powerbrokers.”
The federal courts have a very limited scope of jurisdiction according to Article III of the U.S. Constitution. We need to remember that and encourage states to ignore federal court decisions that are outside the proper rule of law as defined in the Constitution.
The redefinition of marriage is a blatant, unlawful attack by the federal government on the states, the consent of the governed, and Christianity in general. This has done more to awaken the masses than any action since 1973. We (RA4C) are actively reaching out and joining hands with hundreds of pastors and legislators, along with tens of thousands of the good citizens across the State of Oklahoma. We’re reminding them of what the rules [Constitution and Declaration] actually say. And we’re honestly asking the question, “Why aren’t we following what the law says rather than what judges want it to say?” Other states need to be doing the same thing.
Everyone is familiar with the term “American exceptionalism,” but why was America, at one time, exceptional? First, recognize that America was never perfect and never will be. However, America was different and exceptional because of two fundamental truths laid out in our country’s birth certificate — the Declaration of Independence.
Fundamental Truth #1: God grants rights, not government. In fact, man has unalienable rights that include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (Blackstone’s Commentaries defines it thus: the right to walk in God’s revealed will and thus find happiness). The purpose of civil government is to secure those rights, and if any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, the people have the right to alter it, abolish it, or throw it off — which they did with the tyranny of Great Britain in 1776.
Fundamental Truth #2: God establishes what truth is. Truth is not arbitrary or determined by a dictator or majority vote. Our Creator established right and wrong. Our Creator determined truth. Truth is “the laws of nature and nature’s God.” No human law should contradict God’s law.
For nearly 200 years, America was proud of its biblical worldview and Christian heritage. In 1962 and 1963, the Supreme Court illegally removed the Bible and prayer from public education — which it had no constitutional authority to do.
As a consequence, if there is no God, then “government” becomes the “god,” as it becomes the supreme authority. If there is no God, then there is no “law of God,” therefore no fixed truth. Truth “evolves” as people do. So we removed God and a biblical worldview as the foundation of American education and replaced Him with Marxism (“government is god”) and Darwinism (“truth evolves”).
The church should have risen up in 1963 and demanded the states reject these unlawful Supreme Court actions. However, we sat quietly and are now reaping the fruit of several generations raised on Marxist Darwinism.
TNA: What do you see to be the solution?
Blair: Christians need to be trained in how to live as Christians. The modern church doesn’t do a very good job of discipleship.
Obviously, there’s nothing more important that trusting Jesus Christ as Savior. But somehow we fail to recognize that when we accept His gift of salvation, we’re also surrendering our lives to His lordship. There’s a reason God doesn’t take us to heaven the moment we get saved. We’re called to bear witness as followers of Jesus and serve as His ambassadors.
The Barna Group [a market research firm specializing in studying the religious beliefs and behavior of Americans] conducted a survey by actually testing professing Christians about their worldview. Only nine percent of those who identified as born-again believers actually had a biblical worldview. The majority were post-modernists. This shouldn’t be a surprise because we have removed God from our educational system in America, so are taught to depend on an all-powerful government rather than an all-powerful God.
Actually, every issue America faces is dealt with biblically and has been assigned to one of four realms of government: self-government, church government, family government, and civil government.
For example, it’s up to the individual to decide what size soda to buy, not the civil government. It’s up to the church to oversee charity. It’s up to the family to provide for loved ones and to oversee the education of the children. According to the Bible, the purpose of civil government is to punish evil and protect the good.
However, we’ve been taught to look to the all-powerful government to oversee everything from education to healthcare to welfare. Karl Marx would be proud; however, our Founding Fathers would be spinning in their graves.
TNA: How did you come to see Reclaiming America for Christ as part of the solution?
Blair: When Jesus becomes Lord of your life, that means more than just the Lord of Sunday mornings. As a follower of Christ, I should parent differently. I should be a better husband. I should be a better employee and a better employer. As a Christian, my business practices should reflect Christ. And as a Christian, I should be an outstanding citizen and maintain a biblical worldview when it comes to civil government.
As I travel the country speaking, I see three major problems in the average American church. First, the average church has abandoned the exclusivity of salvation by Christ alone (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). Second, as mentioned earlier, the average church fails in discipleship and establishing a biblical worldview in its members. Finally, the average church has abandoned the intellectuality of Christianity. We don’t have blind faith, but the truth. Unfortunately, most Christians today operate by feelings rather than facts.
Reclaiming America for Christ is an organization whose goal is to reintroduce biblical truths to all who attend and how to put those truths into practice in their lives. At our annual conference, we focus on teaching Christian apologetics and biblical worldview; plus, we reaffirm the truth of Christianity’s influence on our country’s founding and framing.
For example, in 1859, the historian John Pelfrey wrote in his work The History of New England, “The Puritan searched the Bible, not only for principles and rules, but for mandates — and, when he could find none of these, for analogies — to guide him in precise arrangements of public administration, and in the minutest points of individual conduct.”
America’s success has not been by accident, but by design. The laws and rights that we take for granted in America are largely unique to America. The reason we’re different was the devoted biblical worldview of our Founding Fathers, and the influence the Bible had over our political thought.
Recognizing the role of Christians in our country’s birth, we wish to awaken the body of Christ in hopes of returning to the moorings from which we’ve drifted. With our conferences and continuing education, we hope to educate, motivate, and activate the body of Christ.
TNA: Explain how pastors can be encouraged and mobilized.
Blair: The country is huge. It becomes so overwhelming that an individual can feel helpless. We encourage pastors to apply the “Nehemiah Strategy.” Nehemiah led rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem in a miraculous 52 days. His successful strategy was for each family to focus on their own section of the wall.
We encourage pastors to focus on their own congregations (or, sections of the wall) and do three things: (1) Be faithful to preach the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to their congregations. (2) Make sure members are trained and able to share their faith in Christ with others. (3) Teach their congregations a complete biblical worldview. Make disciples!
Individual churches can transform neighborhoods. Working together, churches can transform a city. Together, transformed cities and communities can transform a state. The sovereign states have the ability to rein in an out-of-control federal government.
TNA: How can other states be encouraged, and brought alongside Oklahoma’s effort?
Blair: We’ve been trained to focus on Washington, D.C. We raise millions of dollars for organizations inside the beltway or “the party.” When is the last time Washington ever fixed anything? Washington is generally the cause of our problems, not the solution. In fact, Washington doesn’t think it’s broken, because those inside the beltway are doing quite well.
In 1787, the sovereign states designed a limited “general government” to handle the “general welfare” of those states working in union. The states delegated “few and defined” powers to this general government — such as negotiating treaties with foreign countries, establishing a navy, coining money, and creating a postal system. What took place inside the borders of the sovereign states was not the business of the general government. Nowhere did we the people of the United States delegate to Washington the authority to redefine marriage! Come to think of it, we didn’t delegate the authority to make us abort babies, control our education, mandate healthcare, or a lot of other things, either. Washington does not have unlimited power and they certainly don’t have the authority to determine the limits of their own power.
The hero of progressivism, Woodrow Wilson, wrote an article in 1887 published in the Political Science Quarterly. To summarize his strategy to transform America, he believed that what one generation would resist, but eventually accept, the next generation would accept because their parents did, then future generations would assume that it’s always been that way.
We’ve been trained to function as if the states were merely subsidiaries of the federal government and ruled by a supreme leader and a Supreme Court. We must recognize that we’re not ruled by men, but by the consent of the governed in accordance to the law.
People keep wanting to amend the Constitution. Why? Washington doesn’t follow the one we have now. Why do we think they’d follow a new amendment? Who’s going to make them obey it? Ultimately, the states have to say “no” when Washington tries to act outside the Constitution. We all point to the 10th Amendment without realizing that the 10th Amendment is not going to enforce itself! The states have incredible political power if only they have the will to use it.
I shake my head when I hear people say that nullification won’t work. They don’t seem to realize that there are some 150 cities that have already successfully nullified federal immigration law and declared themselves “sanctuary cities.” Four states, plus the District of Columbia, have nullified federal drug law and legalized recreational marijuana. In 2011, the Department of Justice nullified the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) stating it wasn’t constitutional, in their opinion — that was one federal agency nullifying the act of another agency! If so many are using nullification for bad things, why don’t we use it to save natural marriage and stop abortion?
Oklahoma lawfully amended its state Constitution in 2004 to incorporate God’s definition of marriage. There’s no place in the U.S. Constitution where we delegated to Washington the authority to redefine marriage in our state. In fact, according to the 10th Amendment (which is part of the U.S. Constitution) that authority clearly remains with us. Our governor, attorney general, and legislators have all sworn oaths to uphold the Constitutions of the State of Oklahoma and the United States. We call upon them to uphold their oaths of office and ignore the U.S. Supreme Court’s unlawful Obergefell opinion. In fact, we want Oklahoma to be a “sanctuary state” for marriage, life, and the Constitution.
TNA: What do you have to say to pastors who still refrain from discussing “politics” from the pulpit?
Blair: According to Genesis 9, Romans 13, 1 Timothy 2, and 1 Peter 2, the institution of civil government was God’s idea and His purpose for establishing it was to punish evildoers and protect those who do well, that we may live peaceably in all godliness. I call upon pastors to preach the whole counsel of God.
Every pastor recognizes that God had a will and design for the family and for the church. Even though we all know that children are to obey their parents and pastors are to lead their flocks, we understand the condition of that leadership being “in the Lord.” If a father becomes perverted and commands his children to do drugs or commit illicit acts, the children are not under the obligation of unlimited submission. Likewise, if a pastor decided to keep the church building fund for himself or began to teach heresy, the congregation is not under the obligation of “unlimited submission.”
Our Founding Fathers recognized that if a government becomes perverse and tyrannical, then the people had no obligation to submit unconditionally. In fact, Jefferson stated that if any government ceases to protect the unalienable God-given rights of man and instead becomes destructive and tyrannical, the people have the unalienable right to alter, abolish, and replace it.
As we saw in the Nuremburg trials, a person who doesn’t resist an evil action becomes complicit with the evil action. Therefore, our Founding Fathers believed that just as the Hebrew midwives did in Exodus 1, the three Hebrews in Daniel 3 and Peter and John in Acts 5, “Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.”
TNA: What can you say to pastors who are truly looking for answers?
Blair: Call me! I’ll be glad to give counsel and share experiences. I also encourage you to visit our website at RA4C.org and watch our videos on worldview. We have lots of books and resources for you and your congregation.
TNA: Speak to the family in the pew — what can families do?
Blair: Start by educating your family, club, friends, Sunday School class, or small group. We have worldview training ranging from creation to civil government on our RA4C website. Make use of it.
I’m also a fan of “The Truth Project” produced by Focus on the Family several years ago. It’s a great introduction to begin looking at all the world from a biblical perspective.
If several upstanding families in a church respectfully approach their pastor, they can introduce him to these materials and encourage him. If your pastor refuses to engage, quit supporting a dead church with your attendance and money. Find a church that teaches all of the Bible and applies it to today’s living.
TNA: Does RA4C’s effort to nullify Obergefell reach across denominational lines?
Blair: Yes! We have pastors from at least eight to 10 different denominational backgrounds who’ve worked together for several years, and agree on three essential points. One, salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. Two, the Bible is the holy, inerrant, plenary Word of God. Three, if we don’t experience another great awakening, our country is in deep trouble. I personally have great working relationships with many Orthodox Jews, as we share a Judeo-Christian worldview. However, every citizen who desires true liberty will enjoy the fruit of our labor.
The home is the basic building block of society. Procreation is the biological means of the continuation of humanity to future generations, and sociologists acknowledge that the ideal environment for children is to be raised in a loving home by the birth parents. While we wholeheartedly support adoption and support single moms and dads doing their best to raise their kids, and we pray for homes that are starting over after experiencing divorce or death, we should still strive for and promote that which is ideal — God’s design.
The Supreme Court’s ruling was wrong in many ways. First, the ruling itself was illegitimate as Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg were far from unbiased, having officiated same-sex unions in the past and even while they were considering the Obergefell case. Any justice who had respect for the law would have recused himself.
Second, the result itself was unconstitutional. There is no place in the U.S. Constitution where the states delegated to Washington the authority to redefine marriage. Two years ago, in the Windsor case, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion declaring DOMA unconstitutional because marriage was a states’ rights issue, and not under federal jurisdiction. This year in Obergefell, Kennedy reversed course and nullified the state constitutions claiming supremacy of the U.S. Constitution. That is pure hypocrisy. To add further insult to injury, he claimed that same-sex “marriage” was secured in the Fifth and 14th Amendments. However, that claim was ludicrous — when both amendments were ratified, homosexuality was illegal in all states.
Third, the decision violates the foundation upon which our country exists — the laws of nature and nature’s God. Alexander Hamilton was one of many Founders who clearly stated that no human law was of any validity if contrary to the law of God. No one is required to be a Christian to live in America; however, the freedoms available for all to enjoy in our country come from the biblical worldview held by the Founders and Framers.
Finally, the decision itself celebrates immoral conduct. According to the Bible, God created male and female — not the 56 (and growing) gender identities recognized by Facebook. By design, God created us as sexual beings and gave us the gift of intimacy to be held sacred within the union of marriage between a husband and wife (Hebrews 13:4). According to the Bible, there is natural sexuality and sexuality which goes “against nature” (Romans 1:26-27).
All people are created equal, but not all behavior is equal. If a person chooses to practice dangerous, immoral behavior in privacy, that’s his business, and he alone will be accountable both with consequential medical issues and before God. However, Obergefell is an attempt to force everyone to celebrate a behavior that violates conscience and the Holy Scriptures, and to force the acceptance of that behavior on our children through public education.
The Williams Institute at UCLA conducted a study in 2011 that concluded only 1.7 percent of the American population is homosexual. When 1.7 percent practice a certain behavior, it is not considered “the norm,” as 98.3 percent abstain. It is by definition an abnormal and perverse behavior.
As Christians, we are our brother’s keeper. It’s far more loving to speak the truth in hopes of saving someone’s life or soul rather than simply “tolerating” self-destruction.
TNA: How has The John Birch Society played a part in this?
Blair: JBS has faithfully stood in defense of our Constitution and teaching the true history of our country. In so doing, they’ve produced some wonderful materials. For example, we’ve included the 30-minute DVD Overview of America as part of our biblical worldview training package under the topic of “Civil Government” on the RA4C website. It is a must watch and the first lesson in that section of training.
I was most impressed with The New American when they did an article on me six years ago. I had stated a number in my interview, but was off by one percentage point. Before publishing the article, they fact-checked it and informed me of the correction that they were making. I was amazed at their dedication to being 100-percent factually accurate. From that experience, I have had great confidence in trusting the news they report.
Oklahoma hopes to be the first of many states that will join together and reject this unlawful opinion offered by the court, rein in Washington, and save our union under the Constitution. Legally we can. Morally we must. I invite everyone to visit our websites: www.protectlifeandmarriage.com and www.ra4c.org.
May God bless America, and may America be worthy of God’s blessings!!

Pastor Paul Blair The Bible and Self Defense
Published on Jul 31, 2015
Pastor Paul Blair discusses the issue of self defense for the Christian. Most churches are trying to turn everyone into pacifists. These churches teach turn the other cheek to murderers and rapists. Paul Blair teaches what the Bible teaches about self defense. A lot of Christians will be in for a surprise because they do not know what the Bible teaches about self defense.

SOUTHERN BAPTIST LEADERS CALL FOR A GREAT AWAKENING IN U.S.~But SBC CONTINUES PROMOTING THE ANTI-GOSPEL NEW SPIRITUALITY

SOUTHERN BAPTIST LEADERS CALL
FOR A GREAT AWAKENING IN U.S.
SEE: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/newsletters/2015/newsletter20150810.htm; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

In the Summer 2015 Journal of the Southern Baptist Convention, an article titled “Great Awakening” states:
Thousands of messengers at the 2015 Southern Baptist Convention knelt in prayer and raised their hands to heaven July 16 as they prayed for revival in the church and a great awakening across the United States. . . . “The only thing that can ultimately reshape America is a spiritual awakening and the next move of God,” Ronnie Floyd, president of the SBC, told messengers. “When you look at it historically, there is no great movement of God that is not first preceded by the extraordinary prayer of God’s people.
“When was the last time that you gathered with thousands of people on a Tuesday night in the summer and prayed for spiritual awakening in the United States? We have full confidence in God and God alone.”
The article quoted several Southern Baptist pastors attending the summer event who named numerous sins from which Southern Baptists and Christians in general needed to repent: pride, racism, apathy, and so forth. While these are all sins that Christians do need to repent of if they are guilty of them,  there was no mention of one sin that is having detrimental effects within SBC and the Christian church at large. We are referring to the Southern Baptist’s sinful embracing of the “new” anti-Gospel spirituality, which includes occultic prayer practices (contemplative) and emergent/social justice/anti-Christianity ideologies. We present two pieces of evidence to show both of these are true statements. First, this short Letter from the Editor that we received this month:
Dear Lighthouse Trails:
I attend (won’t join) a Southern Baptist church wherein most of the women are heavily involved with Sarah Young’s, Jesus Calling.  I shared with the pastor articles confirming this is not a Christian book, but he doesn’t acknowledge my e-mails or the material that I personally handed to him.  People that are so-called Christians have verbally attacked me because I said this book is “New Age.”  I imagine you get a lot of unfavorable comments as well. J.
Jesus Calling is a book who’s author was inspired by the New Age channeled book God Calling. If you have not researchedJesus Calling, we recommend you read Warren B. Smith’s book“Another Jesus” Calling or his article/booklet The New Age Implications of Jesus Calling.
The second piece of evidence is with LifeWay Resources (the SBC resource arm), which continues to present to Southern Baptist members a deluge of contemplative/emerging/New Spirituality promoting books. Here is a short list of the many examples that are on the LifeWay Resources website:
1. The complete line of Sarah Young’s Jesus Callingbooks
2. Dare to Journey with Henri Nouwen
3. 15 items by or about Brennan Manning
4. Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas (instructs, repeat a word for 20 minutes)
5. Books by Dan Allender (promoter of Brian McLaren and the emerging church)
6. Books by Ann Voskamp (emerging church writer involved with the IF movement)
7. Ruth Haley Barton materials (major player in the contemplative/spiritual formation movement)
8. The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence (who danced violently like a mad man when in the silence)
9. Books by Walter Brueggemann (who loved Alan Jones’ book Reimagining Christianity which denies the atonement)
10. How to Stay Christian in College by Catholic convert J. Budziszewski (Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa High School used this book too – how funny to use a book written by a man who changed from Christianity to Catholicism!)
11. At least 1 book by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun (a strong contemplative proponent who resonates with many New Age teachers)
12. Lord, Save Us From Your Followers by emergent Dan Merchant
       13. At least 1 book that includes as an author heavy weight emergent Tony Campolo
14. Books by heavy weight emergent mentored by Tony Campolo, Shane Claiborne
15. Books by or about Richard Foster and/or Dallas Willard
16. A book called Mustard Seeds, which promotes goddess worshipper Sue Monk Kidd
17. Incidentally, also carries David Jeremiah’s book, Life Wide Open, in which he too promotes Sue Monk Kidd
19. Books by contemplative author Pete Scazzero
20. Last but certainly not least, several books by prolific emergent leader Leonard Sweet
21. God Calling, the New Age channeled book that inspired Sarah Young to write Jesus Calling.
The books and authors listed above represent, promote, or/and endorse an occultic mystical New Age spirituality that has sorely infiltrated the Christian church. This is not a complete list. To do that, it would take us hours because LifeWay Resources carries an almost countless number of contemplative and/or emergent books. If you want to see for yourself, use our Directory of Authors by Chris Lawson and compare some of the names on that list with the authors being carried on LifeWay. And you may type in any of the names above into our blog search engine and our research siteand get plenty of information showing the spiritual propensities of these authors.
We find it ironic (and tragic) that Southern Baptist Convention pastors say they want a “Great Awakening” when the leaders of this denomination are falling headlong into great spiritual deception and taking millions of Baptists with them. Several years ago, LifeWay Resources removed books by Catholic mystics such as Basil Pennington, Thomas Keating, and Thomas Merton after Lighthouse Trails and other ministries brought it to their attention that these authors’ writings were not compatible with biblical Christianity. In addition, somewhere along the line, they removed books by Brian McLaren and Rob Bell. But what good did that do when the authors they continue to sell to their readers, while sounding more Christian than McLaren and Bell, are really “preaching” the same contemplative/emergent/New Spirituality message.
If you are not sure just what the contemplative/emergent/”New” Spirituality message is, please research this out until you fully understand the serious implications.
And, if you live near a LifeWay Store, perhaps you should call and ask why they are carrying Jesus Calling and other books that are not biblically sound. (Store locator) By the way, the number of LifeWay stores is growing. For instance, in 2013, LifeWay purchased Berean Christian Storesgiving LifeWay 17 more stores.
If you are Southern Baptist, or if you attend a SBC church, isn’t it time to challenge your leaders and pastors to repent of the sin that will help lead the church into a great apostasy rather than a great awakening?!
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. (1 Timothy 4:1)

The Christian and Missionary Alliance Hooks Up with the IAHR  (International Association of Healing Rooms)

The Christian and Missionary Alliance headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado now has a  Healing Room Ministry established by Steve Peterson, a technology group employee of the CMA headquarter staff, trained by NAR Apostle Cal Pierce's International Association of Healing Rooms, Spokane, Washington (IAHR).  Meantime, CMA Higher Life Fellowship, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma has an official healing room under the IAHR co-directed by Dr. Paul L. King.

Perhaps, you're saying, "Why should this be concerning?  After all, hasn't the Alliance always supported divine healing?"  That indeed is true, however, there is a huge concern because as Pro Veritate Blog points out, and as I have pointed out in several of my blogs, "The Christian and Missionary Alliance has exhibited a worrisome move toward the direction of the New Apostolic
Reformation."

Now, the founder of the Healing Room Movement is none other than John G. Lake, the often venerated faith healer, whose healing room ministry has been resurrected by New Apostolic Reformation Apostle Cal Pierce.  Therefore, to know the roots of the healing room movement is to revisit its past history as well its recent restoration.  And to see the results of that restoration is to look into today's healing room association--the IAHR.

Take a Look at John G. Lake's Healing Room History:

John G. Lake?  Who was he?  Was he the esteemed man of God as his ardent admirers claim, or was he a con and a fraud as history seems to indicate?  There's much to read, and I would admonish one to do so before buying into the healing room mystique and hype!

To peruse most renditions of Lake's life is to read a biased view of  Lake's legendary fame that's been told and retold until Lake appears saint-like, rather than the man he actually was. In light of this, I will attempt to give the reader just a little peek into the rest of the story.

Now, a good place to start might be with "John G. Lake" found in Keith Gibson's "Patron Saints of the Prophetic" found in his book Wandering Stars: Contending for the Faith with the New Apostles and Prophets. Gibson gives us a short overview of Lake's life and legacy which, by the way, he says, "... few have actually read him, or even taken a cursory look at his history beyond the claims of the miraculous." (p.282)
http://www.thebereancall.org/content/t-mcmahon-keith-gibson-part-1

Gibson notes that Lake taught that we are "little gods."  Gibson quotes from a Kenneth Copeland publication John G. Lake: His Life, His Sermons, His Boldness of Faith that reads, "The
power of God, the Holy Ghost, is the Spirit of Dominion. It makes one a god."  Lake also
taught "dominion theology" noting that he wrote, "... that the church will 'take the world' and will crown the Son of God as King of kings and Lord of lords." Lake taught too that one could communicate with the dead as long as one did not call them up from hell!  And that was just the beginning of Lake's falsehoods. (pp.282, 283)

Lake also was a documented fraud, says Gibson, being arrested various times. Gibson details Lake's inability to heal as noted in the Oregonian newspaper.  Gibson observes, "These are not the actions of a man of God but that of a charlatan." (p.286)

Wikipedia tells us Lake was known as a faith healer, missionary, and founder of "healing rooms." Lake also was strongly influenced by one --John Alexander Dowie-- whose own checkered background one should examine as well. The article points out claims Lake made such as his having established newspapers which was patently false, having had lucrative jobs when he was but a carpenter, and having connections with prominent people of his day of which there is no record.  Historian Barry Morton documents much of Lake's questionable activities in two detailed articles: "'The Devil Who Heals" and "John G. Lake's Formative Years."  Scroll down to the bottom of the Wikipedia article, and click onto Morton's articles to read them.
https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_G._Lake

Let Us Reason Ministries also has an eye-opening article: "Reviving the Revival of John Lake" which further exposes Lake's life. It is part of a five part series on "John Lake and the Healing Rooms." I recommend you click below to read more of its "reasoned" comments.  For a compilation of this series also read: "John G. Lake and the Healing Rooms: False Teachings and Unbiblical Practices" written and compiled by Chris Lawson.

Take a Look at Apostle Cal Pierce's Healing Room Awakening:

Lake died in 1935, and after his death the healing rooms folded.  Almost seventy years later a Bethel Assembly of God (presently Bethel Church, Redding, CA) elder, now turned Apostle Cal Pierce,
moved to Spokane to resurrect Lake's healing rooms.  Pierce told how he'd spent time praying at Lake's grave reminding one of  Benny Hinn praying over Katherine Kuhlman's grave, or of  Bethel's current fascination with "grave sucking," or even of Lake's involvement with calling back the dead.  There's even a tale, as Lake's healing room was being restarted, that an angel appeared in the corner of the very room where Lake had had many amazing healings.  However, it turns out that room, and that building had burned down long ago!
http://www.elijahlist.com/words/display_word/8154

Along with his resurrection of the Spokane, Washington healing room Piece has made this ever expanding ministry just another arm of the NAR.  At present, this ministry has over three thousand healing rooms in seventy-six nations.   Leader Cal Piece, as a true NARite, follows their aberrant teachings as demonstrated by Cal's chapter nine excerpt from the book The Physics of Heaven.  In it Cal has an angelic encounter by his "supposed" angel of thirty years whom he never met until recently.  Cal recounts how upon imbibing of NAR's Tim Sheets' (Dutch Sheets' brother) teaching about "service angels"--angels that run errands Cal met "the energy angel" who according to this tale had been sent to teach Cal about "a water car" --a proposed car of the future.  Why, Cal even took a walk with his energy angel.  As a result of this "angel adventure," shares Cal, he is now into exploring how to produce power with sound!  This is but one beyond wild manifestation that NARites openly share purporting to be true.  Readers, this is exactly why the International Association of Healing Rooms Headquarters with its fire room, portal room, waves of glory room, and more are suspect; for Cal as well as his other NAR cohorts tout so many strange manifestations and prophecies it boggles the mind how people can blindly follow such leaders. http://heavensphysics.com/chapter9/

Take a Look at CMA Headquarters' Healing Room Ministry:

In the January 2014 Alliance Life article: "The Alliance Inheritance" Steve Peterson, CMA worker, tells how he felt it was time to launch a healing prayer ministry at the National Office.  Steve recounts that his wife's fight with MS catapulted him into becoming focused in on healing prayer.
Soon, he began training and ministering with the IAHR or International Association of Healing Rooms.

Later, after submitting a proposal to establish a healing room to the National Office leadership team, and gaining approval, Steve forged ahead training a team to establish what became a weekly "healing room" in an office chapel.  Once trained the team began using their techniques on others from international workers to new US workers.  In the future Steve envisions these healing prayer techniques being used on General Council to district conference attendees.
http://www.cmalliance.org/alife/the-alliance-inheritance/

Now, it is not Peterson's wanting to pray for the sick that is in question, but where and from whom Peterson received his training that is problematic.  For, as shown above, the Healing Rooms
have a very questionable history, and at present are solidly in the camp of the New Apostolic Reformation or hyper-charismatic movement!

Pro Veritate's  Blog piece "Cal Pierce, the NAR, 'Healing Rooms,' and the Christian and Missionary Alliance" pointed out that Apostle Pierce, founder of the IAHR, is directly connected to the NAR thus supporting false claims to apostleship, and the spread of dominion theology.  Pierce himself, says the article, is a member of the dues paying organization known as the International Coalition of Apostolic Leaders.
http://www.proveritate.org/blog/cal-pierce-nar-healing-rooms-cma

Below Peterson's Alliance Life article, Pro Veritate noted, an online commenter mentioned she had met Steve Peterson at a recent Randy Clark Global Awakening conference.  Clark, a NAR super apostle, the person who began the notorious Toronto Blessing with all of its bizarre manifestations and out of order "spiritual drunkenness," is a close friend of Bill Johnson.  That is Bill Johnson of the now famous for fanaticism Bethel Church with its ever changing strange signs and wonders phenomena.  And it is with Clark and Johnson that Dr. Paul L. King is currently connected.

Take a  Look at Dr. Paul L. King's Higher Life Healing Room:

CMA  professor, and historian Dr. Paul L. King pastors a Broken Arrow, Oklahoma CMA church, Higher Life Fellowship, which has the distinction of having its very own IAHR certified Healing Room center which King himself co-directs.  And it was at these Healing Rooms recently, advertised on its Facebook, one might come and partake of "soaking prayer."  "Soaking prayer," by the way, is just another form of contemplative prayer where mesmerizing music lulls those laying on the floor into a trance like state.
http://standupforthetruth.com/2013/10/sid-roth-promotes-soaking-prayer-tutorial-on-wnd/

King, a masterful historian, has written a number of books including Come Up Higher which is endorsed by both Randy Clark, and Bill Johnson.  King is also author of Genuine Gold which is a detailed account of the early history of the CMA and its Pentecostal roots.  In it King quotes just about every early Pentecostal figure from John G. Lake to Charles Parham to A.B. Simpson.  King says of this work that he is cautiously charismatic and that he wants to be a bridge or buffer between charismatics and non-charismatics.  However, from all I've read of King he has thrown caution to the wind, and is now associated with the hyper-charismatics, and not just any of them but with some of the most well-known of the NAR movement.

Conclusion:

In the end, the CMA's hook up with the International Association of Healing Rooms is very troublesome, for once again they are connecting themselves to hyper-charismatics who are involved in experiential manifestations that supersede the Word with so called signs and wonders that in no way are of the Holy Spirit!  Therefore, I'd encourage you to dig deeper into the NAR as well as the IAHR, so you may be ready to warn others of their deceptions and dangers.  Proverbs 1:5 reminds us: "A wise  man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:."

Learn to Discern Granny Verse:  Matthew 24:24

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

UN: JAIL PARENTS WHO SPANK THEIR CHILDREN~FIRST STATE IN 2012: DELAWARE LAW BANNED PARENTS FROM SPANKING THEIR KIDS

UN: JAIL PARENTS WHO SPANK
THEIR CHILDREN
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
FROM: www.thenewamerican.com
Under the guise of advancing what the United Nationscharacterizes as “human rights,” the UN “Human Rights Committee” released a report urging U.K. authorities to prosecute parents who smack or spank their children — even when used as a disciplinary tool. The UN report continued, advocating that the government launch a tax-funded propaganda campaign against corporal punishment and parents who choose to use it in disciplining their children, highlighting the alleged “harmful effects.” A broad list of other demands — more abortion, more UN agreements, and more censorship, among others — was also provided by the UN’s “human rights” bureaucracy in its report on the United Kingdom.
It was not the first time that UN bureaucrats have claimed that spanking, smacking, and all forms of corporal punishment must be banned worldwide in favor of UN-approved parenting strategies, and it certainly will not be the last. In fact, a similar UN “human rights” report about the United States released last year called on the U.S. government to ignore the Constitution’s limits on federal power and pass legislation banning all corporal punishment of children across America — including mild spankings by parents in the home used as a disciplinary tool. Schools that use corporal punishment are also in the UN’s crosshairs.
Of course, the latest controversial anti-smacking “recommendations” aimed at the United Kingdom were met with widespread ridicule and derision. Even the rabidly pro-UN government in London distanced itself from the outlandish demands. “Our policy on smacking is clear,” a spokesperson for the U.K. government was quoted as saying in media reports. “We do not condone violence towards children. However, we do not wish to criminalize parents for issuing a mild smack.” High-profile commentators joked about “the UN on smack.” Still, analysts said the UN was very serious in its efforts to criminalize traditional parenting while further usurping parental rights — and that this is just the beginning.
In its latest report on the United Kingdom, the UN committee, composed of 18 “experts” who come largely from totalitarian-ruled nations, was very clear about its agenda. “The Committee remains concerned that corporal punishment is still not fully outlawed in the home and certain educational and alternative care facilities in the United Kingdom and in almost all British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories,” the report stated. “It is further concerned about the lack of explicit prohibition of corporal punishment in the home and the existing legal defenses of ‘reasonable punishment’ in England, Wales and Northern Ireland or ‘justifiable assault’ in Scotland.”
Not to fear, however, as the UN “experts” have the solution, too — or so they imagine. “The State party should take practical steps, including through legislative measures where appropriate, to put an end to corporal punishment in all settings, including the home, throughout United Kingdom and all Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, and repeal all existing legal defenses across the State party’s jurisdiction,” the UN report continued. “It should encourage non-violent forms of discipline as alternatives to corporal punishment, and conduct public information campaigns to raise awareness about its harmful effects.” In other words, launch a massive, tax-funded propaganda campaign to tell parents how the UN wants their children to be raised — and to demonize anyone who disagrees.
Critics, though, were outraged by the UN’s efforts to have the government further usurp authority over parental rights. “There is an important issue of parental freedom at stake here,” explained Andrea Williams, who leads the U.K. non-profit organization Christian Concern. “A blanket ban on smacking would be a damaging invasion of government into family life. The law already prohibits physical injury to children. The absence of discipline is detrimental to children’s wellbeing. We need to strike the right balance. As long as parents operate within the current law, they should be free to discipline their children in the way they believe is in their children’s best interest.”
Also lambasting the UN report was Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Louise Bours with the surging liberty-minded U.K. Independence Party. “How dare they try to interfere in our lives in this way? Parents should have the right to discipline their children for the youngsters’ own sake, including a light smack if appropriate, but obviously not beating them, which is and must remain an offence,” Bours said. “But frankly it’s rather rich coming from a panel which has representatives from countries with shocking human rights issues, such as Algeria and Uganda, that still need to do more to tackle Female Genital Mutilation in their countries.”
Bours also lambasted other planks in the UN’s “human rights” assault on the United Kingdom, including a UN attack on British plans for a Bill of Rights. In addition, she slammed the panel’s call for allowing prisoners to vote. “That again is a matter for our own government and not outsiders like the UN or European Court of Human Rights,” Bours continued, echoing widespread concerns heard around the world about the accelerating attacks on national sovereignty and self-government. “Prisoners have broken their contract with society by offending and must forfeit the right to vote.” Similar UN reports have also disparaged the United States and various state governments for stripping convicted criminals of voting privileges.
In the latest U.K. report, the UN also celebrated as “positive” the controversial decision to re-define — or un-define — the institution of marriage to include homosexual “marriages.” The document praised authorities for ratifying various UN agreements purporting to govern everything from family life to people with disabilities, but it demanded that more still be approved and implemented. With breathtaking audacity, the UN committee even directly attacked the rights of U.K. citizens, demanding that UN-approved notions of “human rights” take precedence in an upcoming U.K. Bill of Rights. The committee also called for even more censorship. “The State party [the U.K.] should strengthen its efforts to prevent and eradicate all acts of racism and xenophobia, including in the mass media and on the Internet,” the report said.
The UN “human rights” bureaucrats were also upset about the protections offered to the right to life — at least for children in Northern Ireland. “The Committee is concerned about the highly restricted circumstances in which termination of pregnancy [abortion] is permitted under the law in Northern Ireland, and about the severe criminal sanctions for unlawful abortion,” the report stated. “The State party should, as a matter of priority, amend its legislation on abortion in Northern Ireland with a view to providing for additional exceptions to the legal ban on abortion.” It was not immediately clear when, why, or how snuffing out the lives of innocent unborn children became a “human right” — especially one that trumps the actual right to life — but it is hardly the first time in recent memory that the UN has demanded an end to restrictions on abortion.
The latest furor over UN “human rights” demands against the United Kingdom follows a similar controversy that erupted last year. In early 2014, the bombastically titled “Special Rapporteur on adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living and on the right to non-discrimination in this context” (yes, that is a real UN position), a Brazilian socialist named Raquel Rolnik, issued a report critical of U.K. efforts to control welfare spending as a supposed “human rights” violation. To comply with what she described as “obligations” under “international law,” Rolnik said U.K. authorities and taxpayers would have to provide even bigger free houses with more extra rooms to welfare recipients.
Top British officials were not amused, ridiculing the UN attack as a “Marxist diatribe” and “utterly ridiculous.” “It is disappointing that the United Nations has allowed itself to be associated with a misleading Marxist diatribe,” U.K. Housing Minister Kris Hopkins said at the time, dismissing the findings as the ravings of an unhinged bureaucrat. Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith, meanwhile, seized on factual errors in the “utterly ridiculous” report, saying it was “biased, poorly researched and contains inaccuracies the author refused to correct even when they were pointed out to her.” The press had a field day ridiculing Rolnik, too — especially after the bureaucrat’s sister told the press that the UN “expert” was involved in witchcraft and had sacrificed an animal to Karl Marx. But her message was clear: National governments must bow to outlandish UN notions of “human rights” on everything, including the bloated welfare state.
None of this is happening in a vacuum. Much of the international assault on parental rights exemplified in the latest U.K. report traces back to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The radical treaty, which has not been ratified by the U.S. Senate, purports to mandate that all decisions be made in the “best interests” of the child. However, “best interests” is to be determined by international organizations, governments, politicians, dictators, and unelected bureaucrats rather than parents, sparking fierce opposition to the scheme in the United States and other nations. As if to illustrate how extreme the UN vision for children actually is, the Scottish government last year, citing the UN agreement, passed a law mandating a specific government overseer with vast powers be assigned to every single child born in Scotland.
Of course, the United Kingdom is hardly the only victim of the UN’s swarms of “human rights experts.” Freer Western nations have long been targeted by the UN for criticism and demands for draconian assaults on liberty under the guise of “human rights.” That is because UN “human rights” are practically the antithesis of traditional Western notions of God-given individual rights (freedom from coercion) that the U.S. government, for example, was created to protect. Under the UN vision, individuals have only revocable privileges that, according to Article 29 of the UN “Universal Declaration on Human Rights,” may in no case be exercised “contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.” American citizens and British subjects who value their liberties should tell the UN dictators club to pound sand.

2012 Delaware Law Bans Parents

From Spanking Their Kids

SEE: http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/family/item/13005-delaware-law-bans-parents-from-spanking-their-kids; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

Delaware has become the very first state to pass a controversial law that effectively outlaws the corporal discipline of children by their parents. Senate bill 234 was signed into law by Governor Jack Markell on September 12.
Sponsored by Delaware’s Senate Majority Leader Patricia Blevins, the bill redefines child abuse laws to include any act that causes “pain.”
The legislation classifies child abuse as a separate crime in the state and increases penalties in child abuse cases. Prior to the new law, child abuse cases were prosecuted under the same statute dealing with assault by abuse or neglect that applied to adult victims. “Assaults against children are different than assaults against adults,” said Sen. Blevins. “So, it is important to make this a standalone crime.”
The new law creates three levels of child abuse. The first and second degrees are considered felonies and penalties increase if the victim is under four years old and suffers from intellectual or developmental disabilities. Parents who are guilty of committing “physical injury,” or “pain,” to a child under the age of 18 would be guilty of a class A misdemeanor and subjected to a year in prison as a result. One who is charged with causing pain to a child under the age of three would be guilty of a class G felony and subjected to two years imprisonment.
“This bill establishes the offense of Child Abuse,” the legislation states. “These new statutes combine current statutes and redefine physical injury and serious physical injury to reflect the medical realities of pain and impairment suffered by children.” It continues, “The statute also expands the state of mind necessary for certain offenses against children allowing for more effective prosecution of parents who subject their children to abuse by others and fail to protect their children.”
Strangely, the bill also labels the “unlawful termination of a pregnancy without the consent of the pregnant female” as a “serious physical injury.”
Behind the push for this law was state Attorney General Beau Biden, the son of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. “We know children are three times more likely to be assaulted, hurt or harmed if they have a developmental disability or are under four years old,” said Biden. “We wanted to recognize a very vulnerable victim pool.”
A report from Delaware First Media said that Biden “pointed out that more than three million children are reported to be victims of abuse or neglect in the United States each year, and the U.S. ranks higher in child abuse fatalities than any other industrialized nation in the world.”
“Far too many children are the victims of abuse, neglect and assault and [this bill] will go a long way to better protect the children of this state,” said Biden.
Blevins touts that the bill recognizes special classes of abuse cases, particularly those involving disabilities and very young children. “Thousands of children are abused every day, many of them under the age of three. They are not even verbal. The evidence needs to be collected in other ways than in testimony. These are very difficult crimes and deserve their own category,” said Blevins. “It’s very important to target those victims with development disabilities, because often they cannot testify, or their testimony needs special accommodations.”
And Delaware State Rep. Rebecca Walker, who cosponsored the bill, explains that she feels very strongly about child abuse after she witnessed cases of abuse firsthand while working as a forensic emergency room nurse. “It happens a lot in Delaware, a lot more than people think,” said Walker. “[This bill] can be something that will help our kids be a little bit safer.”
But some skeptics consider the new law to be another example of well-intentioned government overreach.
The controversial new law has drawn criticisms from the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), in addition to the Delaware Home Education Association and the Delaware Family Policy Council. They claim that the law is “a violation of the rights of parents to direct the upbringing of their children, including the long-recognized right to administer reasonable corporal discipline.”
According to the HSLDA, the legislation was unnecessary, as Delaware law had previously permitted parents to use force to punish their child so long as it does not cause physical injury.
LifeSiteNews reports, “By redefining ‘physical injury’ to include the infliction of any pain on a child, even the reasonable use of spanking has become a crime in Delaware punishable by imprisonment.”
Biden insists that the law does not prohibit spanking. “This will not do anything to interfere with a parent’s right or ability to parent as they see fit, but it also makes it clear that if you abuse a child in any way, shape or form, we’re going to have a statute that we’re going to be able to use to protect kids,” he stated.
But even StopSpanking.org interpreted the ordinance to prohibit spanking, reporting on its site, “Delaware is the first state to legislate against hitting children in an effort to stop child abuse. Senate Bill 234 effectively bans hitting of children, including in the home.”
And as noted by Nicole Theis, president of Delaware Family Policy Council, the vague language in the law can easily be used to punish parents that spank their children. “The concern with the bill is that it used the very subjective word ‘pain’ [and hinged legal behavior upon] using ‘reasonable force,’” she outlined. “The fact of the matter is that it’s written into the law and it very much could be interpreted as prohibiting spanking.”
Theis indicates that it is difficult to draft laws dealing with child abuse that properly distinguish between discipline and abuse. “It is a hard balance,” she explained. “We do recognize that Delaware did need child abuse legislation for case workers to work with.… There was a lot of emotion on each side.”
Theis acknowledges that the intent of the lawmakers was not to criminalize spanking, but believes that the language of the ordinance needs to be amended to make that more clear. “While we appreciate that it was not the intent of lawmakers to criminalize spanking, we hope that it bides us a little time to make an amendment to the law,” Theis concluded. “We definitely need some legal firepower to be able to resolve it.”

DAVID CLOUD'S VISIT TO A CATHOLIC CONVENT IN QUEBEC

QUOTE FROM BELOW: "Let me be plain. What a blasphemous, wicked institution is Roman Catholicism, blinding the eyes of untold millions to the light of the gospel of the free gift of salvation in Christ and His office as the sole Savior, Priest, and Mediator. By its papacy, priesthood, and sacraments, it has illegitimately inserted itself between Christ and man. This is a great evil."
My Visit to a Convent
by David Cloud of Way of Life

Updated August 11, 2015 (first published December 8, 1998) (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143)
During a trip to Canada in November 1998, I had an opportunity to visit a cloistered convent. A pastor friend invited me to meet his relative who had been a Catholic nun for 60 years. I have visited Catholic shrines and churches in many parts of the world, including the Vatican, but I had never been inside a convent.  The nun that we visited was 80 years old and had lived most of her life shut away in a dim monastery. She could converse with us only from behind metal bars. There are even bars across the convent chapel, separating the nuns from the public. The nuns pray in the chapel by shifts around the clock.  As you enter the chapel, there is a sign which says, "You are entering to adore the Jesus-host." Note how the nuns make a direct connection between Jesus and the Catholic host. The host, of course, is the consecrated wafer of the mass. According to Catholic theology, the wafer, when blessed by the priest, becomes the literal body and blood of Jesus. After the mass, the host is placed inside a little box called a tabernacle, and the people pray to it as if it were Jesus Christ Himself.  Mother Teresa often spoke of the wafer and testified that her Jesus was the Catholic host. Once there was a fire in one of Mother Teresa's chapels, and she described how thankful the nuns were when someone ran inside the burning building and rescued "Jesus."  It is this host that the nuns in Quebec are adoring 24 hours a day.
They also pray to Mary. The convent belongs to the Congregation of the Servants of Jesus-Mary. Each nun carries a Rosary at all times. These are prayer beads which guide the petitioner in prayers to God and Mary. The nun we visited gave me a book which describes the history of her order. The last page contains a prayer to God "through Jesus and Mary."  The nuns pray for the Catholic priests around the world and for "the unity of all men." I believe these prayers to deceiving spirits will be fulfilled when the events of Revelation 17-18 come to pass during the Great Tribulation. Events are shaping up even now for a one-world government and one-world “church.”  Let me be plain. This is a great evil.  I remember witnessing to an elderly Catholic woman in Australia many years ago. I asked whether she was saved and knew for sure that she would go to heaven when she died. She replied that she was not sure, but that she had done the best she could all her life and she was trusting in “my church.” That is the best reply that Rome has to offer in its official dogmas. I remember witnessing to a nun of Mother Teresa's Sisters of Charity order. This occurred during a recorded interview my wife and I had with the nun (Sister Ann) in Nepal in the early 1980s. The nun was working with Nepali people who were waiting to die at Nepali’s holiest Hindu site, Pashapati. Following is a snippet from that interview: CLOUD: Do you believe if they [the Nepali people she was working with] die believing in Shiva or in Ram [Hindu gods] they will go to heaven? ANN: Yes, that is their faith. My own faith will lead me to my God, no? So if they have believed in their god very strongly, if they have faith, surely they will be saved. CLOUD: Do you believe that Mary is the mother of God? ANN: Yes. CLOUD: And about the pope, what do you believe about him? ANN: He is the head of the church, the vicar of Christ. CLOUD: And about the mass, what is your belief about the mass? ANN: The sacrifice which was once offered at Calvary is renewed in the every day mass at the altar. It is an unbloody sacrifice. That [the cross] was offered in a bloody manner; this [the mass] is an unbloody manner. CLOUD: So there is a sacrifice in the mass every day, like offering Christ again? ANN: Yes, again. CLOUD: [Y]ou do not believe [Hindus] are lost, right? ANN: No, they are not lost. They are saved according to their faith, you know. If they believe whatever they believe that is their salvation. CLOUD: When you die--you yourself--what do you believe will happen to you? ANN: I will not go to hell. Maybe for a few days I may be in purgatory. For we also have our imperfection. Though we are sisters; we are religious; we don't have any outward, big sin, but some sin is there. CLOUD: And that is the purpose of purgatory? ANN: That is the purpose of purgatory. CLOUD: Who do you pray to? Do you ever pray to Mary? ANN: Yes, she is our mother. CLOUD: Do you ever pray to other saints? ANN: We have some saints in whom we have confidence. We can pray to them also. Like my own patron saint is Saint Ann, the mother of our lady, Mary. So I pray to her to guide me on the right path when I do my work. The late Mother Teresa and her co-workers and other nuns claim to love Jesus and to have faith in Him, and we know they sincerely desire to help people, but, in reality their faith is a mixed faith. It is the Catholic gospel of faith plus sacraments and works, which is cursed according to Galatians 1:6-7. If nuns had true biblical faith in the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ, they would not attend the Catholic mass, which they freely testify to be the "re-sacrificing of Christ." When Sister Ann called the mass an unbloody sacrifice, she was only the official teaching of her church as declared by the Second Vatican Council and the New Catholic Catechism.  If they had true biblical faith that the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ takes away all sin and grants eternal life, they would not believe in purgatory.  If we really love Roman Catholics, we will preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, the only gospel whereby we can be saved from eternal destruction.  We preached the gospel to Sister Ann that day by the banks of Nepal's most holy Hindu river. We opened the Bible to Hebrews and described to her that once-for-all Sacrifice which has been accomplished by the Lamb of God. I have prayed for her since then, and I hope to see her in heaven one day.  “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:10). This is the urgent need of all Catholics.  Those who ignore Rome’s doctrinal errors and affiliate with Roman Catholics as if they were Bible-believing Christians are disobeying the Bible’s command to separate from error (Romans 16:17) and are doing Roman Catholics an eternal injustice by not standing unequivocally for the truth of God’s Word and the faith once delivered to the saints. “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:6-8).
