FCC COMMISSIONER AJIT PAI WARNS OF FEDERAL REGULATION OF ONLINE SPEECH
SEE: http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/item/20896-fcc-commissioner-warns-of-federal-regulation-of-online-speech; republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

"With the Obama administration-backed “net neutrality” takeover of Internet infrastructure paving the way, federal bureaucrats may seek to regulate the content of websites such as the Drudge Report. That is the warning of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Ajit Pai, who cautioned in various interviews and talks this month that another Washington, D.C., bureaucracy — the Federal Election Commission — needs to be watched closely lest the government “impulse” to regulate online speech be acted upon. The United Nations and various UN member regimes hope to censor and tax the Internet, too.
FCC Commissioner Pai, one of two Republicans on the five-member commission, was also an outspoken opponent of his bureaucracy’s Internet takeover earlier this year under the guise of “net neutrality.” The Obama-backed plan seeks to regulate the architecture of the World Wide Web as a “public utility,” supposedly to keep it “neutral” and prevent Internet Service Providers (ISPs) from using different business models that might speed up the delivery of certain content over that of other sites. But that may be just the proverbial camel’s nose under the tent vis-à-vis government regulation of the Internet, Pai warned.
“I could easily see this migrating over to the direction of content,” he explained in during a panel discussion at the “Right Online” conference earlier this month. “What you’re seeing now is an impulse not just to regulate the roads over which traffic goes, but the traffic itself…. It is conceivable to me to see the government saying, ‘We think the Drudge Report is having a disproportionate effect on our political discourse. He doesn’t have to file anything with the FEC. The FCC doesn’t have the ability to regulate anything he says, and we want to start tamping down on websites like that.’”
Pai also said he did not think it was “unthinkable” that some government bureaucracy would consider the marketplace of ideas to be “too fraught with dissonance” — that media outlets ranging from Drudge to Fox News and everything in between would be seen as “playing unfairly” in the online “political speech sandbox.” The First Amendment is more than just words in the Constittion, it is “an ongoing cultural commitment,” he added. “And I sense that among a substantial number of Americans and a disturbing number of regulators here in Washington that online speech is [considered] a dangerous brave new world that needs to be regulated.”
The FCC commissioner reiterated his warnings last week on Fox News Radio’s The Alan Colmes Show. Among other concerns, Pai warned that the federal government’s “net neutrality” takeover of the Internet’s infrastructure could be a mere sneak preview of D.C. efforts to regulate content on media powerhouses such as the Drudge Report. “It’s not so much the FCC that I’m worried about in terms of online content regulation,” he said. “But what we do see is that at places like the Federal Elections Commission there is a regulatory impulse to regulate what heretofore has been a pretty open marketplace of ideas.”
“Net neutrality would insert government jurisdiction over the infrastructure of the internet and in time, other agencies might try to regulate the content,” added Pai, a leading critic of the Obama-backed “net neutrality” scheme, who said he had suffered from harassment and threats after speaking out. “If you look at what some of these agencies are thinking about doing right now — last year, for example, at the Federal Elections Commission, three regulators suggested that they did want to consider online content, like the Drudge Report, potentially as an in-kind contribution given that it had an impact on political campaigns.”
The notion that the FEC, under the guise of regulating elections, might seek to regulate the political speech found online is hardly far-fetched. In fact, last year, a top Democrat on the commission, FEC Vice-Chair Ann Ravel, openly advocated a new regulatory regime to control online campaigning. “A reexamination of the commission’s approach to the Internet and other emerging technologies is long overdue,” she claimed following a battle over whether two anti-Obama YouTube videos in Ohio were a violation of existing FEC decrees.
Seeing through the call, the Republican FEC chairman, Lee Goodman, warned that Democrats on the commission were targeting online political sites and even media outlets such as the Drudge Report for regulation. “I told you this was coming,” he told the Washington Examiner, adding that if regulations could be extended in accordance with Democrat wishes, anyone writing a political blog, running a news site, or even a chat room could face stifling FEC regulation on speech. Goodman had already warned that Democrat commissioners were targeting conservative Internet sites before that.
If it materializes, FEC regulation of online political speech could smother First Amendment protections for some of the unalienable rights outlined therein: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and more. Among other attacks, FEC bureaucrats could force even small-time bloggers and other activists who might be involved in writing about elections or candidates to obey a never-ending deluge of federal regulations. For a major operation, that might not be the end — they could afford armies of attorneys to sort through it. But for a smaller outfit, filling out mountains of paperwork and being forced to obey incomprehensible mountains of decrees could prove fatal. And maybe that is the point.
Of course, the FEC, FCC, and other U.S. bureaucracies are hardly the only threat to Internet freedom. The United Nations and many of its myriad autocratic member regimes are also busy plotting an Internet takeover, as The New American has been reporting for years. As if to justify concerns over escalating UN attacks against online free speech, the bureaucracy leading the charge for global regulation, the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU), recently installed as chief a Communist Chinese operative from mainland China who believes censorship is all in the eye of the beholder.
“We [at the ITU] don’t have a common interpretation of what censorship means,” the recently installed secretary general of the UN agency, Houlin Zhao, was quoted as saying by the Korean Yonhap news agency last year. “A country can ask people not to watch pornography, and some consider this as also kind of censorship. We have not got a common definition.” When asked about the Communist Chinese dictatorship’s massive censorship regime targeting dissent, dissidents, and ideas it disagrees with, Zhao was evasive. “Some kind of censorship may not be strange to other countries,” he responded.
The brutal dictatorship in Beijing is hardly alone, and in fact, the Obama administration has been accused of tacitly aiding and abetting the UN’s bid for a greater role in overseeing the Internet, along with a coalition of establishment-minded “stakeholders” and foreign governments. More than a few experts have spoken out on the subject, including UN designs on extorting global Internet taxes from humanity to fund further UN plotting. “Should the U.N. end up in charge, it would have a chokehold on the global economy and a vast stream of revenue that would make it even more unaccountable than it already is,” warned financial economics Professor Karl Borden at the University of Nebraska.
From Washington D.C. and UN headquarters in New York to Moscow, Beijing, and everywhere in between, totalitarian-minded forces are up in arms about the free and open Internet — essentially the final bastion of real free speech and a truly free press, and potentially a crucial tool in freeing humanity from government tyranny. Among other concerns, the World Wide Web has facilitated a massive increase in public understanding surrounding the goals of those same totalitarian-minded forces — hence their efforts to control, regulate, censor, and tax it.
For the sake of humanity and especially liberty, Americans must resist any and all efforts to infringe on Internet freedom. Without it, free speech and much more may become a thing of the past."

Walmart Addresses Closure of Brandon Store, Adding Updated Register Line Equipment
Published on May 15, 2015

Tampa, Florida -- Walmart has come out with an official statement regarding the closing of the Brandon store due to plumbing issues.

Walmart spokesperson Amanda Henneberg has released the following:

With the assistance of contractors and mechanical engineers we have undergone a comprehensive process to identify the plumbing repairs and upgrades the store will receive. We are now ready to begin requesting some of the initial permits that may be needed to begin demolition for the work required while we finalize the design plans for submittal to the city for review. We still anticipate reopening the store within the next six months, in time for the holiday season.
Given the unique circumstances of the temporary closure, we continue to focus on our associates and have added benefits and made a series of policy exceptions, including identifying transfer opportunities for more than half of the associates who have requested to continue working at local area stores, offering severance pay for part-time associates and committing to return associates to the same rate of pay or higher if they are rehired for the same job.
10 News learned that some of the repairs and upgrade to the stores include, demolition to repair sagging, damaged, and obstructed sanitary plumbing lines throughout the building and installation of all new plumbing, fixtures and finishes; installation of new sanitary plumbing system to support existing operations and revised grocery layout; new design and layout for the fresh (meat, produce, bakery and dairy areas), baby and electronics enhanced electronics departments; updated equipment in register lineup; enhanced and more convenient Pick-Up locations; and a new roof and new 4,000 square foot liquor store expansion

GIRL SCOUTS WELCOME CROSS-DRESSING BOYS INTO THEIR RANKS

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

The Girl Scouts of America (GSA) is the latest organization to cave to pressure from the LGBTIQA lobby, adapting its policies to extend membership to boys who identify as girls.
Penny Nance from Concerned Women for America called the decision “just one more slap in the face to Christian parents.”
On the GSA website, the association states: “If the child is recognized by the family and school/community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, then Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe.”
Girls participating in the scouts will now be obliged to recognize transgenderism as a normal lifestyle, critics say.
The conservative American Family Association expressed its outrage at the policy change, accusing scout leaders of “losing their moral compass.” This is the case of adults being “willing to experiment on our kids—both the boys who are confused and the girls who will wonder why a boy in a dress is in the bathroom with them.”
“Boys in skirts, boys in make-up and boys in tents will become a part of the program. This change will put young innocent girls at risk,” the group said.
This isn’t the first time that the issue of transgender boys wanting to join the Girl Scouts has come up, though such cases are fairly uncommon. In early 2012, seven-year old Bobby Montoya, who was living as a girl, was allowed to join his local Girl Scout troop in Colorado.
The GSA’s tendency toward greater permissiveness prompted the creation of a new organization in 1995, called the American Heritage Girls, “a Christ-centered alternative to Girl Scouts” that openly embraces a “Judeo-Christian focus” and a mission to build women of integrity through “service to God, family, community and country.”
Since 2003, GSA’s enrollment has dropped by over one million girls, almost 27% of its membership, a decline that critics attribute to its “lurch to the left.”
Last year, pro-lifers launched a national cookie boycott after the Girl Scouts endorsed Wendy Davis, a pro-abortion candidate for governor of Texas.

What Every Pro-Lifer Needs to Know About The Girl Scouts’ Link to Planned Parenthood

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

Is there really a connection between the abortion industry and the Girl Scouts? It’s heart-breaking and, for some, despite the mounting evidence, impossible to believe.  After all, who wants to acknowledge that the Girl Scouts, an organization that should stand for all that is good and pure, has succumbed to the infiltration of the abortion rights agenda?  And what a sad testament to the state of our country today, when we can no longer trust the Girl Scouts, an American icon with influence on over 2 million girls in the United States alone.
As a concerned pro-lifer who supported the Girl Scout organization for many years, as a girl member and as a troop leader, it saddens me to share the fall of this once venerable organization that to this day retains the support of so many wonderful women and girls, many of whom are unaware of what they are actually supporting. But families deserve to know the truth.
There are a lot of accusations in the blogosphere about the Girl Scouts. Some are fact, like the Girl Scout organization works alongside abortion providers and funds/promotes abortion rights advocacy groups. And some are sensationalized, like Girl Scout cookie money pays for abortions (although cookies do fund Girl Scouts’ concerning agenda).  So what is the real truth about Girl Scouts? Let’s break it down – below are factual and verifiable pro-life concerns about Girl Scouts that all pro-lifers and families should know.
Girl Scouts teams-up with abortion providers
Girl Scout USA (GSUSA) is quick to assure concerned members that the national level of the organization has no partnership with Planned Parenthood. But GSUSA fails to disclose further relevant information.
GSUSA omits the fact that it allows every local Girl Scout council – the arm of Girl Scouts that actually connects with girl members in their local communities – to work with Planned Parenthood. Hear it from the horse’s mouth, the GSUSA’s national spokesperson, at this link. Many Girl Scout councils are doing just that, teaming up with their local Planned Parenthood in various ways. A few recent or on-going examples include:
Additionally, GSUSA does not disclose that it maintains membership in the Coalition for Adolescent Girls, a collaboration of about 40 organizations, in which GSUSA joins international abortion provider Marie Stopes and many other pro-abortion organizations to address global issues affecting girls. The Coalition’s agenda specifically advocates for abortion related care and comprehensive sex education for adolescent girls.
And finally, GSUSA fails to tell us that the international level of the Girl Scout organization, the  World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), which counts every Girl Scout in the world in its membership of 10 million girls, frequently works alongside International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) to advocate for abortion on demand for youth. In fact, IPPF credits its close partnership with WAGGGS for its increasing success in reaching youth with the IPPF message of sexual and reproductive rights. Keep in mind, that while WAGGGS is busy working with IPPF, GSUSA generously funds WAGGGS with $1.5 million annually through a membership quota payment, based on number of registered GSUSA members.
Girl Scouts’ pro-abortion role models for girls
The list of role models GSUSA recommends for our girls includes many women who are iconic abortion rights advocates.  You can see more concerning Girl Scout role models at this link, but for now, here’s just a few of many examples:
  • Margaret Sanger – Via social media, GSUSA provides girls, as young as 11 years old, a list of speeches by “Eloquent Women” to assist them with their public speaking badge. Recommendationsinclude   Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s speech advocating for a women’s right to birth control. Other eloquent women speeches promoted by GSUSA include Lady Gaga and Sally Field both advocating for same sex marriage, a curious recommendation given that GSUSA claimsit doesn’t allow advocacy for a particular lifestyle or sexual orientation. Hey, isn’t there something in the Girl Scout Law and Promise about being honest?
  • Gloria Steinem – For nearly 50 years Gloria Steinem has been a prominent leader in the abortion rights movement. Steinem proudly participated in the “I had an abortion” campaign to remove the stigma of abortion and is a committed supporter of Planned Parenthood.  In the official Girl Scoutcurriculum for girls, sold and promoted by every Girl Scout council in the United States, Girl Scouts thanks “women’s rights activist” Steinem for her “visionary contributions.”
  • Betty Friedan  – Girl Scouts’ curriculum also names NARAL founder Betty Friedan and her pro-abortion organization National Organization for Women (NOW) as “voices for good.”   Girl Scouts devotion to Friedan should come as no surprise to us, given the fact that she served for 12 years as a GSUSA board member.
In addition to the role models in Girl Scout curriculum, local councils also award and honor pro-abortion politicians and abortion rights advocates such as Texas Senator Wendy Davis, recent New York mayoral candidate Christine Quinn, Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger awardee Dolores Huerta and others.
Girl Scouts promotion of abortion rights advocacy organizations and resources
Curiously, there are no pro-life groups recommended by the Girl Scouts curriculum for girls. However, Girl Scout curriculum does recommend many abortion rights advocacy organizations and resources like:
  • WAGGGS.org – Girl Scouts tell girls to check out WAGGGS.org which advocates for abortion and contains other concerning content.
  • DoSomething.org – Girl Scouts promotes this resource which refers girls to Planned Parenthood for contraception and to the Guttmacher Institute for a guide to minor’s abortion rights
  • Idealist.org – Girl Scout directs girls to idealist.org, which lists hundreds of paid and volunteer jobs at Planned Parenthood, to learn more about being an advocate.
  • ACLU – Girl Scouts encourages girls to consider several advocacy careers including as an ACLU lawyer.
  • Amnesty International and Population Council – Girl Scouts recommends girls research these pro-abortion organizations on the internet.
Learn more here about the organizations featured in the Girl Scout curriculum and additional problematic recommendations by local councils.
What about the cookies?
GSUSA will try to assure you that all the proceeds from cookie sales stay local to benefit girls in their community. But the rest of the story is that GSUSA makes millions of dollars each year through licensing fees paid by the baker.   The girls themselves keep on average approximately 15%of the purchase price from working their little tails off peddling cookies, while the local councils – which expose our daughters to pro-abortion organizationsresourcesrole models,  and events –  receive the largest piece of the profit from cookie sales. The reality is most councils could not survive financially without the help of those cute girls participating in cookies sales, the councils’ main source of income.
It’s hard to say no to those little sweethearts in the green and brown sashes. However, I just can’t bring myself to fund GSUSA and local councils, and further facilitate their indoctrination of our daughters. I’m not a big boycotter. But to me this is different than giving money to Chevron, Gap, Nike, or any of the other hundreds of organizations that fund Planned Parenthood. This is about girls – millions of girls.

 Girl Scouts’ position on abortion
What is GSUSA’s official position on the killing of unborn children in the womb? GSUSA’s officialpolicy is that the organization takes NO POSITION on abortion. Given this enlightening fact, should we really be surprised that the Girl Scout organization works alongside abortion providers, holds up radically pro-abortion role models for our daughters, funds/promotes abortion rights advocacy groups, and refers girls to pro-abortion resources?

"On Thursday, the organization published a guest post by Andrea Bastiani Archibald, Ph.D., who it called the group’s “Chief Girl Expert.” In the brief post, entitled “The Meaning of ‘Serving All Girls,'”Archibald explained that GSUSA does not limit its definition of a girl to those who were born female."
"“This means girls in the organization will be forced to recognize and accept transgenderism as a normal lifestyle. Boys in skirts, boys in make-up and boys in tents will become a part of the program,” the American Family Association (AFA) writes on its website, where it is now collecting petition signatures against the move."
