The False Doctrine of Jory Micah

Jory Micah is a feminist “theologian” who has risen to promote egalitarianism and women in leadership. Many times, Micah reads the Bible in light of her feminism and not the other way around. Such a reading of Scripture will not only lead to numerous heterodoxies but will cause someone to believe and teach heresy. This has happened many times with her theology.
A dissection of her Master’s Thesis will show a few troubling doctrines. Besides a poor handling of God’s Word and a few points that rely solely on creating confusion about the text of Scripture, one thing that stood out was in her introduction, when she said, “While Jesus walked the earth as a male, there is no biblical evidence that Jesus’ glorified body is still male in Heaven.” Either she is claiming that Jesus is a transgender or she is claiming that Jesus no longer has a human nature, the Eutychian heresy. Either way, that statement is a Christ-related (Christological) heresy.
God reveals Himself as a male. Every single pronoun used for any member of the Godhead is a masculine pronoun. However, Jory Micah says in her Master’s Thesis, “God is just as much a Mother as He is a Father.” She has similarly said, “Our God is also a Mother – She births life and nurtures life.” (Source). She makes the argument that the Hebrew word for spirit is a feminine noun, therefore the Holy Spirit must be female (By that same logic, sin is female, as the Hebrew word for sin is feminine). (Source). God reveals Himself in the masculine, and that is because He is male. If you want to make the case that God is a female because He is compared to a female at times, you must also make the case that He is a chicken (Luke 13:34), a door (John 10:9), and a lion (Hosea 11:10).
She has also taken to endorsing Hillary Clinton, using the hashtag #ImWithHer (Source). To clarify, she is endorsing someone who supports the murder of unborn children up until the moment of birth. She is endorsing a candidate that is pro-infanticide. This is to be expected, however, as even though she claims to be Pro-Life she doesn’t support outlawing abortion (Source). She seems to think that we shouldn’t outlaw abortion because just as many women get abortions in nations as it is legal as where it is illegal (A statement she made; I don’t know either way). I wonder if she would apply this same principle to other forms of murder?
She has even claimed to get divine revelation, saying multiple times that God spoke to her and not referring to Scripture (Here and here, for example). This claim of prophecy sets her supposed revelation as equal to Scripture, otherwise, it isn’t Theopneustos – God-breathed – and God didn’t really say it. If she is attributing something to God that God didn’t say, then it is false prophecy. If she is to say this is Theopneustos, then she is saying that Scripture is either insufficient or incomplete (To say either is heresy) and she is embracing the Montanist heresy. As John Owen said, “If private revelations agree with Scripture, they are unnecessary and if they disagree they are false.”
Finally, Micah has taken to defending the sin of immodesty. She wrote in one post on her site that “Modesty Rules” contribute to “Rape Culture”. She has made the argument on her Facebook against “modesty rules” as well (Source). She made this argument based off of her own immodesty and how she felt when people corrected her, including that everyone else dressed that way so it should’ve been fine for her too. She rightly points out that those whose eyes cause them to stumble are told it is better to gouge them out, but she ignores what Matthew 18 says. Verse 6 (ESV) says, “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Equally strong language is given for those who cause a believer (as context hints this is who is being referred to) to stumble.
To those who follow Jory Micah: Jory Micah is a false teacher, and is teaching heretical doctrine and leading many women astray. Her hermeneutic of reading Scripture through the lens of feminism has led her to abandon sound doctrine and chase false doctrines, and as 1 John 2:19 (ESV) says about these teachers, “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.” She could be likened to the woman called Jezebel in Revelation 2, who was, “teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality.” I urge you, as Romans 16:17 (ESV) says, “I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.”
To Jory Micah: I do not write this because I hate you. Quite contrarily, I write this because I love those who follow you and it is my hope that they would be protected from false doctrine and I love you and wish to see you repent. I urge you to repent and believe the Gospel. 2 Peter 2:1 says you are, “bringing upon [yourself] swift destruction.” Put down your lens of feminism, and read the Bible as it is intended to be read. Repent of your sin and your heresy and believe the Gospel.

"The argument has grown tiresome, redundant, and frustrating: should women be allowed to hold leadership roles over men in the Christian Church? Many Christian leaders and biblical scholars have agreed to allow women in their pulpits, but many still cling to a view that makes the Apostle Paul look like a male chauvinist, who has given a universal principal that women are to be silent, and never hold a church office. Many from the latter group are known as complementarians. Well known complementarian front runners, John Piper and Wayne Grudem, reason that the Apostle Paul taught that the husband/father figure of each family is ordained by God to lead his household, wife, and children. She and their children are to submit to his every rule, whim, and decision; life as they know it is a male dominated monarchy. Boys are taught to be strong leaders and providers, while girls are taught to be good followers and dependents. This may sound ideal to some, but families are not “cookie-cut” images of one another, and they certainly don’t always reproduce strong-willed boys and passive girls. Further, not all families have a father or a male figure in the equation. Therefore, if females are taught to be passive and dependent human beings, they will be unable to survive and provide for their families. Worse, many families endure the pain of an abusive father or male-figure who uses his power for evil, traumatizing both boys and girls under his “God-given” authority. These are all everyday, realistic scenarios that do not fit into the “complementarian box.”"
