A glimpse into the future of the whole of Europe. When I spoke in Germany in 2010, a teenage girl told me that she was harassed every day on her way to school by Muslim migrants, because she was not, in their view, properly covered.
“Austrian Girls Forced to Wear Hijabs to Avoid Harassment, Ex-MP Claims,” Sputnik News, February 15, 2019:
According to Doctor Marcus Franz, who used to serve as a lawmaker in the National Council, there are “problem zones” in the country’s capital where local girls are being forced to hide that they are Austrian.
Former member of the Austrian National Council, Doctor Marcus Franz, stated in an interview to broadcaster oe24.TV that he knew fathers in Vienna’s “problem areas” who give their daughters hijabs in order not to let them be recognised as Austrians and protect them from harassment. He cited witnesses from his personal acquaintances in the 15th district of the Austrian capital.
The man pointed to “permanent micro-aggression”. He said girls are dressing differently than people in Austria are used to because of an “unhealthy aggressive attitude”.
“Girls, young women as well as older women are simply afraid. You can observe this among people, you can see it plain and simple when you work in a social profession — as I do. And one should make a clear distinction between those who are new and those who have already been with us for a long time”, he stated….
In what may be a bit like a dwarf claiming an NBA player lacks stature, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) accused President Trump of being semi-illiterate after he likened her Green New Deal (GND) proposal to a poorly conceived and written high-school paper. This comes on the heels of her retraction of the GND FAQ, which was posted on her website — and spoke of eliminating flatulating cows and air travel — but which her chief of staff now dismisses as being in the nature of “typos.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blasted Donald Trump as a semi-illiterate fool on Monday, minutes after the president slammed her ‘Green New Deal’ proposal as juvenile and poorly conceived.
‘It sounds like a high school term paper that got a low mark,’ Trump said of the sweeping outline that the New York Democrat unveiled last week.
The president was speaking at a raucous rally in El Paso, Texas.
‘Ah yes,’ Ocasio-Cortez sliced in a tweet, ‘a man who can’t even read briefings written in full sentences is providing literary criticism of a House Resolution.’
…She added a line that she attributed [sic] to The Washington Post: ‘Reading the intelligence book is not Trump’s preferred “style of learning,” according to a person with knowledge of the situation.’
Ocasio-Cortez’ tit-for-tat wasn’t exactly equivalent, however. It is said that Trump prefers oral to written presentations; this could reflect a defect, but, then again, personal learning style is a real phenomenon. (In fact, it might help the freshman representative’s cause if the president were illiterate, as her plan would appeal most to those who couldn’t actually read it.) Yet that Ocasio-Cortez’ GND FAQ had a valley-girl high-school quality is beyond dispute.
For starters, and to frame it in language the congresswoman obviously prefers, the proposals in the FAQ are wack. They included phasing out fossil fuels over a decade and nuclear power over a somewhat longer period; providing “economic security” for all who are “unwilling to work”; retrofitting every building in the country; and, again, eliminating air travel.
This not only would involve spending countless trillions on a problem that doesn’t exist, but if instituted globally could “result in the death of nearly all humans on Earth,” as Greenpeace co-Founder Patrick Moore put it. Note, too, that before they died their miserable deaths, they’d cut down every tree for fuel and kill every animal for food. Below is a video of President Trump discussing the scheme at his Monday rally.
Yet the FAQ’s juvenile style is also striking. It states at one point, “We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.”
Perhaps they’ll teach the bovines better manners, or maybe the solution will be vegan senator Cory Booker’s recently referenced desire to make every day meatless Monday. But “farting” cows, really? This is like writing “pooping,” which, mind you, has become lamentably common in journalism (pro tip: “Poop” is a baby word).
It’s easy making fun of Ocasio-Cortez (too easy), but what’s sad is that such intellectually wanting people now rise to power. Sadder still is that this reflects a decaying culture descending into Idiocracy, which is the title of a 2006 comedy portraying an outrageously intellectually degraded, dystopian United States that we today increasingly resemble (cursing politicians and all).
Speaking of stupidity, this is precisely what’s required to believe the spin on the FAQ, whose dissemination the Ocasio-Cortez crew now writes off as a meaningless mistake. This explanation (excuse?) is echoed by complicit media such as the Washington Post, which stated that the document is merely “erroneous.”
Now, the paper’s masthead-borne motto is, ironically, “Democracy Dies in Darkness.” But not only did it uncritically accept the above claim, it also closed the above-linked piece with the assertion, by Ocasio-Cortez’ chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti, that people are trying to distract you from the holy climate crusade by focusing on the FAQ’s “little typos.”
Know here that an article’s closing line is often the one expressing a belief reporters want you to embrace. Making it a partisan quotation is a way of craftily injecting commentary into “straight news.” But let’s review the facts on the FAQ.
The document was posted on Ocasio-Cortez’ website early last Thursday morning, but was scrubbed mere hours later after bringing mockery. The next day, Friday evening, one of the congresswoman’s advisors claimed the document was the nefarious work of Republicans. Ocasio-Cortez then tacitly endorsed this notion in a tweet before her staff later admitted that, yes, it was theirs — but had been put on their website mistakenly.
Even this, though, is a far cry from a “typo,” which is something that, for instance, might occur upon typing out Saikat Chakrabarti’s name (I copy and paste it myself). No, in the document aren’t typos but a set of beliefs — someone’s beliefs. The document did not spontaneously generate. The letters did not magically assemble themselves in a politically troubling way on the sheet, like ocean waves quite accidentally washing rocks up on a beach to form an S.O.S.
Whose beliefs were they? The writing — e.g., “This is our moonshot” — sounds to me very much like the language Ocasio-Cortez uses when speaking. Of course, others could be feeding her ideas, but it would be interesting to see what a forensic writing-style analysis would conclude about authorship.
I suggested Monday that the FAQ’s release was likely no accident, that Ocasio-Cortez got so used to her radicalism getting a friendly reception that she just finally “went a Bolshevik bridge too far.” But let’s assume, for argument’s sake, that its release was accidental. Does this make the document less significant?
Question: What do you consider more likely the truth, what a person smoothly says to your face or what he utters behind your back? An accidentally released “planning document” is akin to being caught on a “hot mic” — you know, such as when Barack Obama was heard in 2012 telling then-Russian President Dmitri Medvedev that he’d have “more flexibility” on missile defense after the election.
This is so obvious that wasting words on it is a shame. If something not meant for public consumption is irrelevant, why was any mind paid to Dwayne “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman’s released racial-epithet-laden private phone call, Mel Gibson’s private-phone-call rant against an ex-girlfriend, or the Donald Trump Access Hollywood tape?
So we’re told the FAQ is immaterial; nothing to see here, moving along. But what we’re supposed to believe is preposterous: What a politician says or writes behind closed doors, when the cameras and mics are off and honesty costs nothing, is inconsequential.
But what the politician — a member of a breed notorious for lying to the public — says to the public while marketing policy, well, that we should believe.
As the common jokes about Ocasio-Cortez’ intellectual vacuity attest, many people think she’s stupid. Now we know the feeling is mutual.
Odd thing: Hamas-linked CAIR never had any problem with Obama’s thirteen emergency declarations.
Note how they try to smear Trump as racist, saying the border wall is an attempt to “make America white again,” as if trying to stop illegal immigration, and the crime and drug trafficking that come with it, were “racist.” One might almost get the idea that Hamas-linked CAIR was working at “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within, and sabotaging its miserable house.”
CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refusedtodenounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s co-founder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements about how Islamic law should be imposed in the U.S. (Ahmad denies this, but the original reporter stands by her story.) CAIR chapters frequently distribute pamphlets telling Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement. CAIR has opposed virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or implemented and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates. Ayloush himself in 2017 called for the overthrow of the U.S. government.
So this denunciation is the best ad yet for the border wall.
“CAIR Condemns Trump’s Planned Border Wall Emergency Declaration as ‘Abuse of Executive Authority,'” Common Dreams, February 14, 2019:
WASHINGTON – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, tonight condemned President Trump’s planned emergency declaration to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border as an “abuse of executive authority.”
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said today that Trump will sign legislation to prevent a government shutdown while at the same time declaring a national emergency to try to build the border wall.
In response to the planned emergency declaration, CAIR said:
“CAIR condemns President Trump’s planned declaration of emergency powers to construct a border wall that is primarily motivated by an anti-immigrant ideology designed to ‘make America white again.’ Such a declaration would be an abuse of executive authority and would immediately invite legitimate constitutional and congressional challenges.
“Refugee asylum seekers, unaccompanied children or undocumented immigrants seeking work or to reunite with their families do not constitute a ‘national emergency.'”…
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) warned that the next Democrat president could use an emergency declaration to target guns in America.
Pelosi delivered her statement moments after the White House said President Trump would declare a national emergency to secure the border.
“..If the president can declare an emergency on something that he has created as an emergency, an illusion that he wants to convey, just think of what a president with different values can present to the American people,” she said. “You want to talk about a national emergency? Let’s talk about today, the one-year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in America.”
“That’s a national emergency. Why don’t you declare that emergency, Mr. President? I wish you would. But a Democratic president can do that. [A] Democratic president can declare emergencies as well.”
Additionally, Pelosi warned Trump’s actions were establishing a precedent that current Republicans should worry about.
“The precedent that the president is setting here is something that should be met with great unease and dismay by the Republicans,” she said. ____________________________________________________________
USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Yesterday, President Donald Trump made clear he will sign the latest budget measure funding the government thereby averting another shutdown. The bipartisan bill did not include consideration for a wall to stop the illegal flow of criminal aliens and smuggling that plague our southern border. As expected, The White House announced that the president would sign the bill but declare the border a national emergency using executive order and appropriate the necessary border wall funding from other government agencies.
Many of us love the idea. It’s a slap in the face to the nasty Socialists (masquerading, at least for now, as Democrats) who have stonewalled and obstructed President Trump from day one.
On the other hand, as I discussed on Armed American Radio a couple of weeks back, such an executive order may also set a dangerous precedent. It’s the old, “Be careful what you wish for; you may just get it” saying. Nancy Pelosi wasted no time. Within minutes of that announcement from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., she said this:
‘I know the Republicans have some unease about it, no matter what they say. Because if the president can declare an emergency on something that he has created as an emergency, an illusion that he wants to convey, just think of what a president with different values can present to the American people,' she said. ‘You want to talk about a national emergency? Let's talk about today, the one-year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in America,' Pelosi said, referencing the one-year anniversary of the Parkland, Florida school shooting. ‘That's a national emergency. Why don't you declare that emergency, Mr. President? I wish you would. But a Democratic president can do that. [A] Democratic president can declare emergencies as well,' she threatened.
So there you have it mass gun confiscation from the mouth of Democrats.
In one bold, profound statement, Current speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, second in line to the White House after the vice-president in order of succession, finally said what we all know she and the rest of the Democrats have in store for us when (inevitably) another Democrat is elected President. In case you still have trouble understanding, let me make it clear for you. Nancy Pelosi has just made it clear, in no uncertain terms, that her party is willing to abolish the Second Amendment with the stroke of a pen via executive fiat and when the next Democrat is (inevitably) elected, they intend to do so.
From this point forward you know that the next elected Democrat to occupy the White House will declare “gun violence” a national emergency.
How might such an executive order play out? What happens in the minutes, hours, days, weeks, and months after such a declaration? No one truly knows as its never before happened but being told now that it's on the table for our future we might want to start considering such a scenario.
First, I imagine such an order would be signed within minutes of the first (again, inevitable) mass shooting that occurs on the new Democrat President's watch. Based on Pelosi’s comments, we can rest assured that such an order will already be written and eagerly awaiting a mass murder for immediate signature. Now what? More likely than not, the first order of business will be an immediate cessation of all retail gun sales. Think about the economic consequences of that alone. Businesses and livelihoods crushed overnight. The Democrats won’t care. They’ll be cheering the destruction of this segment of our economy just as newly elected Socialist dimwit Cortez cheered the loss of billions of dollars of tax revenue and 25,000 jobs paying $150,000.00 each in her district when Amazon pulled out due to her hostile statements. (You can’t make this stuff up)
Second, I would imagine a registration scheme to follow suit. Once all retail gun sales have been stopped, all gun owners will be required to submit their firearms collections in detail including serial numbers along with the physical location of each gun. Being there are more retail gun shops in communities than there are ATF offices, it might not be a stretch to see those shops used by government agents for the sole purpose of collecting those gun registration/location forms.
Third, confiscation. Upon the issuance of such an order and the completion of a registration scheme, (if the Democrat president and his party associates in the House and Senate genuinely believe there is a national emergency) they will have no choice but to take from us what they deem to be the problem. Leaving civilians armed will not alleviate the perceived problem. Confiscation must occur.
They will likely tell us that they don’t want to destroy our rights and this drastic measure is temporary. We will get our guns back as soon as the Democrats in power deem there to be no more threat. They respect the Second Amendment, but this is for our own good and the safety of the children. They will shame us and remind us that as Americans, it is time to act to end “gun violence.” See how simple it is to disarm us? An executive order, signed by a well-meaning Democrat president and an orderly march of law-abiding citizens complying quietly for the good of the children while Nancy Pelosi sits atop her throne clapping at us for doing the right thing at the right time, for our nation.
Right….
It may be possible that psychologically someone who threatens executive action to declare “gun violence” a national emergency as a way to end-run the rights of over 100 million Americans may believe all of us will quietly line-up at registration booths and turn in our guns. It may also be possible that the same person may not believe that millions of decent, hard-working American’s will resist. Millions.
Ms. Pelosi just told you everything you need to know about her party’s plans. What you do with that knowledge is up to you.

Massive Emergency Bypass Goes Down at Stericycle Medical Waste Plant
(EnviroNews Utah via Community Watch Blog) – The Stericycle medical waste incineration plant couldn’t have picked a worse time to have another large, visible emergency episode, considering all of the recent controversy swirling around the company...

MEDICAL WASTE GIANT STERICYCLE BURNING BODIES OF ABORTED BABIES IN "MODERN-DAY AUSCHWITZ" PLANT, INVESTIGATION REVEALS
AUGUSTA, Ga. —An investigation out of Georgia has confirmed that the medical waste giant Stericycle is burning the bodies of aborted babies at its North Carolina incineration plant. The mounting evidence of the ongoing operation, which has been characterized as a “modern-day Auschwitz,” further documents the corporate collaboration in the systematic annihilation of unwanted children.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) recently investigated a report of concern that A Preferred Women’s Health Center of Augusta could be improperly disposing of aborted babies as Stericycle is the only company picking up at the facility and it claims that does not dispose of aborted “fetuses.”
The facility is part of a chain encompassing four different locations, which are also in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as Atlanta, Georgia.
According to Steven Smith, a local Christian who seeks to reach mothers outside of the facility, Stericycle visits the abortion facility every six weeks for pickup.
Stericycle, which shows up on a regular basis at abortion facilities nationwide, had once transported aborted babies for convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell and his “House of Horrors.” Gosnell, who is now serving a life sentence for “snipping” the necks of three babies who were born alive, was convicted after he stopped paying his Stericycle bills and the babies were piling up in the freezer—evidence that otherwise would have been handed off to Stericycle for destruction, according to a grand jury report.
View “Baby A” here and “Baby B” here as photographed by investigators.
However, in a 2017 letter to the pro-life group Created Equal, Stericycle CEO Charles Alutto claimed that the company does not accept aborted babies due to its long-held waste acceptance policy, which prohibits medical waste generators from including “complete human remains, including heads, full torsos and fetuses” in the boxes or containers for pickup.
He added that several years prior, the company also began requiring abortion facilities to submit a “supplemental assurance” that they have another licensed provider to dispose of the “fetuses.”
“We have previously informed you and continue to maintain that Stericycle does not accept fetal remains,” Alutto wrote, pointing to the company’s waste acceptance policy.
“Beyond our policy, for women’s healthcare facilities that may provide certain procedures, we require supplemental assurances in writing that they have licensed providers for fetal remains,” he stated. “When customers are not willing to provide this certification, we do not provide services.”
Therefore, if Stericycle is not picking up the aborted babies as it adamantly claims, what is the abortion facility doing with them?
According to information posted on the EPD website, a representative with the agency drove to A Preferred Women’s Health Center to find out if the abortion facility is following state law regarding fetus disposal. It was confirmed by facility manager Paula Clark and administrator Calla Hales that Stericycle is its sole medical waste transporter.
“[Clark] stated that Stericycle does pick up all of their biomedical waste at one time about once a month,” the investigator wrote.
“Ms. Hales proceeded to give me the Stericycle customer weight report and the clinic’s waste disposal policy. Afterward, she showed me the new sharps storage, filled sharps storage, and the tissue storage. All of which are labeled ‘biohazard.’ She also provided me the customer support number for Stericycle,” she documented.
Freezer where aborted babies are stored until pickup
The investigator took a photograph of the exterior of the freezer where the aborted babies are stored until Stericycle arrives.
The disposal policy for the facility, which was uploaded with the investigation results, also reads, “Lab-regulated medical waste is packed for transport and placed in a freezer used exclusively for medical waste. The regulated waste remains frozen until the time of regularly scheduled pick up and transport as directed by Stericycle.”
The Stericycle weight report shows total “waste” pickup weighing 30.9, 38, 43 and 46 pounds on various pickup dates in 2018, with the latest pickup being on Jan. 24 and weighing at 27.4 pounds.
The investigator then contacted Stericycle for additional information. The office of Selin Hoboy, the vice president for regulatory affairs at Stericycle’s corporate office, submitted documentation to the EPD that showed that A Preferred Women’s Health Center’s “waste” is transported to North Carolina for incineration.
“It was confirmed that all of the biomedical waste that is picked up from the clinic is taken to a site that is an incinerator and that the facility has an air permit through the state of North Carolina,” the investigator wrote.
The incinerator referred to in the report is a plant located in Graham, North Carolina, which is referred to in documents as Haw River.
Campaign to Stop Stericycle (CSS), which has been investigating and compiling evidence since 2011 of Stericycle’s “collection, transportation and incineration of aborted children and the instruments used to kill them,” has repeatedly decried the company’s incineration of aborted babies in North Carolina and its other locations nationwide. It compares the matter to the fires of Auschwitz during the days of the Holocaust and the allied collaboration in the “mass annihilation of unwanted persons.”
“Babies who are being murdered in numerous states are continually shipped by Stericycle to the incineration chambers to be burned with other medical garbage. This vivid picture is eerily reminiscent of the Holocaust that took place in Nazi Germany when the bodies of gassed Jews were burned in ovens,” said CSS Director Michael Marcavage. “The abortion holocaust is being perpetuated around the world because of companies like Stericycle that provide the vital services to keep these modern-day death camps, called ‘abortion clinics,’ open.”
“Stericycle must stop denying that it is disposing of aborted babies for financial gain—as it is not even following its own waste acceptance policy. It is hard to believe that an international corporation that prides itself in the safe disposal of dangerous hazardous waste, and expects to be trusted in doing so, doesn’t know that its own trucks are hauling away aborted babies for incineration in violation of its own stated policy,” he added. “It is time for the medical waste giant to stop lying to its investors, customers and those who raise concerns, and sever its ties to the abortion industry once and for all.”
Marcavage noted that without the collaboration of companies like Stericycle, the abortion industry could not continue to operate and would collapse. Recalling the lack of outcry during the Jewish Holocaust, he urged Christians not to let history repeat itself by looking away or remaining silent in the face of evil.
“In a day and age where there is so much indifference and apathy among religious professors toward the ongoing abortion holocaust, which has resulted in the deaths of millions upon millions of children, the biblical commands to love thy neighbor and to be a voice for the voiceless remain clear and unavoidable,” he said. “Christians must act now and speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, as the Scriptures instruct, and they can start with a call to Stericycle’s CEO.”
Marcavage exhorts others to call Stericycle CEO Charles Alutto at (847)295-4012 and/or email calutto@stericycle.com
Smith, who has been reaching women outside of the A Preferred Women’s Health Center for the past three years, told Christian News Network that he has sought to urge Stericycle’s drivers not to assist the location with the murder of the unborn.
“We exhort everyone to love their preborn neighbor and to stop servicing [the location], from the UPS driver delivering packages to the private contractor servicing the building,” he outlined.
“Stericycle has been coming regularly every six weeks to pick up the remains of the children that are murdered here. Unlike the other businesses that we exhort, there comes some serious demonic pushback whenever they are addressed,” Smith stated.
However, some have refused to service the location after realizing what they were getting into, he said.
“Several drivers in the past have sequentially refused to pick up because their consciences were pricked only to have the ‘clinicians’ run to the cab of the truck trying to beg him to come in,” Smith recalled.
He added that he has tried to reach out to the corporate office, but his words have fallen on deaf ears.
“We’ve tried on our own over the years to expose their lie of Stericycle not picking up dead children by making phone calls and writing letters directly to the company and various state agencies, but as most people do, they want to turn their heads and ignore our requests and these image bearer’s plight,” Smith lamented.
As previously reported, in 2011, the medical waste giant was fined $42,000 in Texas for dumping fetal remains from Whole Woman’s Health in Austin with household and commercial trash.
“It was explained that medical waste is placed in red biohazard bags, then placed into boxes provided by Stericycle. Each fetus resulting from an abortion is placed into a hard plastic container and then into a red biohazard bag. The bag is then placed into a freezer, where it is stored,” an investigative report from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) outlined.
“When Stericycle arrives to transport the medical waste, the individual fetuses are removed from the freezer and placed into another large red biohazard bag. The red biohazard bag containing the fetuses is placed into the medical waste box along with other medical waste generated at the facility that requires treatment,” it continued. “According to facility representatives and the medical waste manifest reviewed, it appears that Stericycle picks up the waste once per week.”
In 2015, Stericycle was likewise found to have unlawfully dumped the remains of aborted babies from Greensville Women’s Clinic in South Carolina into a landfill after steam-sterilizing the boxes, instead of incinerating them as required by law, as the medical waste boxes were not properly labeled by the abortion facility.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had to know that putting an anti-Semite who actually hates America on the Foreign Affairs Committee was a bad idea. Rep Ilhan Oman “attacked” Venezuelan envoy Elliott Abrams, demanding to know whether if “a genocide will take place and you will look the other way because American interests were being upheld.”
Abrams refused to answer the question, calling the line of questioning “ridiculous.”
“That is a ridiculous question,” Abrams responded whenOmar asked him if he thought the massacre was a “fabulous achievement.” “I am sorry, but I am not going to respond to that kind of an attack.”
Omar then asked if he would “support crimes against humanity or genocide if you believe they were serving U.S. interests as you did in Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua.” Abrams in the past had defended Guatemalan dictator EfraÃn RÃos Montt, who oversaw a campaign in which thousands of Guatemalans were either massacred or disappeared and who was later convicted of genocide. Omar, though, has also faced criticism for challenging the U.S. policy in Venezuela, and her questions appeared to suggest active U.S. opposition to Maduro, who has overseen a complete economic collapse in Venezuela, could spiral into “genocide.”
Abrams responded: “I don’t believe this line of questioning is meant to be real questions and so I will not reply.”
Omar then said she wanted to know whether “a genocide will take place and you will look the other way because American interests were being upheld.” Abrams said the American policy in Venezuela is to support the Venezuelan people’s effort to restore democracy.
The US has chosen, along with numerous other nations, to back Juan Guaido as the legitimate president of Venezuela, as we have previously reported. Nicholas Maduro is a Socialist dictator that has ravaged the nation, leaving its people in horrific conditions. Omar wants to talk about massacres, but doesn’t want to talk about Venezuelans who are suffering tremendously in a government that is killing them from malnutrition, disease, and poverty.
That’s the genocide. It has nothing to do with the United States- it has to do with a Venezuelan dictator.
Former George W. Bush senior adviser Brad Blakeman and exiled Venezuelan Mayor David Smolansky , discuss Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) political attack against special envoy to Venezuela Elliot Abrams during a House hearing.
Word for Word: Exchange between Rep. Ilhan Omar
and Elliott Abrams
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has a heated exchange with Elliot Abrams, the U.S. special envoy to Venezuela, highlighting his role in the Iran-Contra affair. She says, "I fail to understand why members of this committee or the American people should find any testimony you give today to be truthful." The exchange came during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing.
Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.
Rep. Ilhan Omar defended the anti-Semitic Black Israelites hate group in January. In February, she was originally scheduled to speak at an Islamic Relief USA dinner alongside IRUSA’s Yousef Abdallah who had endorsed violence against Jews and described former Governor Chris Christie “down on his knees before the Jewish lords and masters… only money makes stuff like this happen.”
Abdallah’s comments were very similar to the anti-Semitic Twitter slurs that got Omar in trouble.
That’s not a coincidence. Omar’s worldview, including her anti-Semitism, was shaped by a familiar network of Islamist organizations which control life for most Muslims in the United States.
In March, Rep. Omar is headed to California to speak at CAIR’s Los Angeles dinner. There she will appear alongside CAIR’s Florida boss Hassan Shibly who has defended Hamas and vocally praised Hezbollah. “Israel & it’s supporters are enemies of God and humanity!” he had tweeted.
Shibly has vocally defended Rep. Omar over her comments about Jews.
Rep. Omar’s comments about Jews are a commonplace CAIR talking point. Nihad Awad, the co-founder and executive director of CAIR, had made an even more explicit version of the same argument. “Who of Clinton’s advisors … is opposing the latest agreement with Iraq? Look at their names. Look at … their ethnic or religious or racial background.”
“The Jews plan to distort Islam’s image and have succeeded in their plans,” he later claimed.
Before that, Awad had been the PR director for the Islamic Association of Palestine, CAIR’s previous incarnation, which had published “America’s Greatest Enemy: The Jew! And an Unholy Alliance!” The hate pamphlet claimed that, “the Jews through their Zionist machinery have power over all the agencies and organs of the United States government.”
It’s no coincidence that Rep. Omar is speaking at the events of two Islamist organizations which have a history of promoting the claim that Jews control America using money. It’s where she got those views.
The coverage of Rep. Omar’s anti-Semitic tweet has treated its bigotry as if it were her own. It’s not.
Rep. Omar isn’t just dropping in on CAIR. She had also served on CAIR-Minnesota’s advisory board. And her trip to California is a matter of repaying her biggest group of supporters for their backing.
Omar had benefited from three CAIR fundraising events in California. While she had accused pro-Israel politicians of taking money from pro-Israel Jews, she’s been taking money from pro-terror Muslims.
Rep. Omar’s anti-Semitism was absorbed, along with other even uglier views, from the Islamist lobby of hate groups like CAIR. And Omar’s career shows that there is no Islamist agenda too extreme for her.
In 2017, she was one of only two representatives to vote against a bill limiting terrorist life insurance payouts.
In 2016, Omar sent a letter in defense of 9 ISIS recruits in Minnesota. "A long-term prison sentence for one who chose violence to combat direct marginalization is a statement that our justice system misunderstands the guilty," she wrote of the ISIS recruits. "People seek violent solutions when the process established for enacting change is inaccessible to them."
Rep. Omar doesn’t just hate Jews and oppose Israel. These are only components of her Islamist worldview which sparks with sympathy for Islamist terrorists in America, as much as in Israel.
Congress doesn’t have an Omar problem. It has a CAIR problem. And that’s a much harder problem to solve than soliciting a non-apology from Rep. Omar for letting her anti-Semitic slip show.
Over time, CAIR leaders learned how to say the same ugly things in a more deniable tone. Rep. Omar is learning the same tricks. But coded bigotry isn’t an improvement. It is in some ways worse.
Rep. Omar has tended to be condemned and to apologize for word choices. But her word choices are not inopportune. And they are not the issue. The Islamist politician wasn’t blindly stumbling into offensive territory because of her word choices. Her word choices reflect the stark apocalyptic terms in which she sees the conflict with Israel.
Omar’s worldview is CAIR’s world. And CAIR’s worldview is that of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood’s Sayyid Qutb had claimed that the Jews use money to control the world. Hamas, an arm of the Brotherhood, had claimed in its charter that, "with their money, they took control of the world media, news agencies, the press, publishing houses, broadcasting stations, and others... With their money they formed secret societies, such as Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, the Lions and others in different parts of the world for the purpose of sabotaging societies and achieving Zionist interests."
Pull on the string of Rep. Omar’s anti-Semitism and you go right back to the Muslim Brotherhood. Omar is just a symptom of the problem. And the problem is the Brotherhood’s presence in American politics.
Omar’s hateful views are unremarkable among Muslim Brotherhood activists. They’re so commonplace that they’re little more than background noise. Conspiracy theories about global influence are used to explain how the Jews were able to win back their independence and maintain an independent country.
When Omar tweeted, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel”, she was echoing the same worldview from another angle. It’s the tip of an Islamist conspiracy iceberg that goes far beyond a current clash with Hamas and instead all but contends that the Jews had started WWI and all the other wars in order to achieve their geopolitical goals.
In the Koranic and Qutubian worldview, the Jew is a primal enemy of Islam. The Jews are behind all the conflicts and there will be no peace until a final apocalypse in which the Muslims wipe out the Jews.
And then Allah will awaken the people.
Opposition to Israel and support for Hamas helps Muslims affirm the role of the Jews as the fundamental enemies of Islam, who prevent the supremacy of Islam from taking hold.
Islam’s victory can only be achieved by destroying the Jews.
These are the ingredients baked long and hard to make Rep. Omar’s worldview. And this is only the beginning. As more Muslims are elected to higher office, more of them will be Islamists.
CAIR has a solid grip on Muslim communities in America. As more Muslim are elected to national offices, CAIR’s agenda will sink even deeper into the national and local legislatures. That is what we should be talking about. The only lesson Rep. Omar has learned is to choose her words more carefully and that will make it easier for Democrats to ignore her anti-Semitism and harder for Jewish activists to complain about it. But Rep. Omar’ convictions, grounded in her religion, are not about to change or go anywhere.
There’s no point in talking about Rep. Omar, unless we’re also going to talk about CAIR.
Consistency? Honesty? Integrity? Those are for the common folk, not for the elites.
“Money in politics? Ilhan Omar will fly to LA for fundraiser with … terror-tied CAIR,” by Jordan Schachtel, Conservative Review, February 13, 2019:
Newly elected Rep. Ilhan Omar will jet off to Los Angeles next month to keynote a fundraiser for the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), a terror-tied organization that was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terroristfinancing case in U.S. history.
On March 23, Omar will speak at CAIR-Los Angeles’ 4th Annual Valley Banquet, where tables will cost $500….
She will deliver her address alongside CAIR-Florida director Hassan Shibly, according to a CAIR flier promoting the event. Shibly is a dedicated Islamist and bigoted gay basher. A fan of radical clerics, he has routinely refused to categorize U.S.-designated terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations, according to the Clarion Project. Moreover, Shibly regularly takes to social media to demonize the U.S. military as equivalent to the jihadi terrorists that they are fighting.
The director of CAIR-Los Angeles is Hussam Ayloush, who, like many CAIR executives, has disturbing Islamist views. Following the tragic San Bernardino terrorist attacks, Ayloush suggested that the United States was “partly responsible” for the ISIS-led attack on innocents in California. “Let’s not forget that some of our own foreign policy, as Americans, as the West, have fueled that extremism,” he added. Ayloush has in the past described U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of a campaign to instill “fear of the Muslims.”
The news comes on the heels of Rep. Omar’s controversial comments — that many on the Left and Right almost unanimously condemned as anti-Semitic tropes — about money in politics, in which she claimed that Jewish groups like AIPAC buy off politicians. Though AIPAC does not contribute to political campaigns, CAIR certainly does. Omar has received tens of thousands of dollars from CAIR and other political action committees. Additionally, CAIR held several fundraising events solely for the benefit of Omar’s congressional campaign.
CAIR’s fundraiser is just one of the controversial events lined up for Omar’s schedule. On February 23, she will speak at a fundraiser for Islamic Relief USA, the American branch of the terror-tied group Islamic Relief Worldwide. The Middle East Forum has discovered that she will be accompanied by a senior charity official who has often “expressed violently anti-Semitic ideas on his social-media accounts,” sometimes specifically calling for the murder of Jews….
Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for tweeting anti-Semitic tropes Sunday evening, calling the freshman lawmaker’s comments about the role of so-called “Jewish money” in U.S. politics “shocking.”
“Anti-Semitism in any form is unacceptable, and it’s shocking to hear a Member of Congress invoke the anti-Semitic trope of ‘Jewish money,’” Engel wrote in a statement Monday. “I fully expect that when we disagree on the Foreign Affairs Committee, we can debate policy on the merits and never question members’ motives or resort to personal attacks. Criticism of American policy toward any country is fair game, but this must be done on policy grounds.”
Omar is under fire after quote-tweeting criticism from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in which she suggested lawmakers are given donations in exchange for supporting Israel.
“It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” the Minnesota Democrat wrote in response to The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald’s criticism of McCarthy vowing to take action against anti-Israel members of Congress.
Omar followed up her tweet with an age-old antisemitic trope that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) pays lawmakers to support Israel. AIPAC does not make financial contributions or endorsements to candidates.
Last month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) selected Omar to serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, overlooking her support of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel and previous tweets in which she accused the Jewish state of “hypnotizing the world” and “evil doings.” Pelosi has yet to weigh in on the controversy.
Omar’s remarks drew strong rebuke from another powerful Democrat, House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), who criticized her remarks as “deeply disappointing and disturbing.”
“It is deeply disappointing and disturbing to hear Representative Ilhan Omar’s (MN) choice of words in her exchange with a journalist yesterday, wherein she appears to traffic in old anti-Semitic tropes about Jews and money,” he said. “Her words are deeply hurtful and offensive, particular as they build on previous comments she made about Jews ‘hypnotizing’ the world in support of Israel — another old trope born of hate-filled texts like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
We wrote here about the fact that Nancy Pelosi has appointed Ilhan Omar to the House Foreign Relations Committee, notwithstanding Omar’s vicious hostility toward Israel, one of America’s key strategic partners, and her apparent anti-Semitism. Among other things, Omar is a supporter of the “BDS” movement that seeks to delegitimize Israel as an independent nation.
Today the Coalition for Jewish Values, which represents more than 1,000 rabbis on issues of public policy, delivered a letter to Pelosi, asking her to rescind her appointment of Omar to Foreign Relations. The letter is embedded below. Some excerpts:
We write to express our alarm, dismay and outrage at your elevation of Freshman Representative Ilhan Omar to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. This decision runs contrary to the values of tolerance and equality to which the Democratic Party and your office have always been committed.
In 2012, as Israel defended itself against an expressly genocidal army which fired thousands of missiles at civilians, Ilhan Omar declared: “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” *** According to the United States State Department, “applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation” is anti-Semitic, as is “justifying the killing or harming of Jews” and “making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews.” Rep. Omar has done all three. *** The Republican Party responded to comments attributed to Representative Steve King by stripping him of all committee assignments – although he disavowed those remarks, insisted they did not represent his views, and voted in favor of House Resolution 41 condemning white nationalism and white supremacy.
The Democratic National Committee similarly, and to its credit, pulled its sponsorship from the Women’s March after coleader Tamika Mallory refused to condemn the anti-Semitic statements of Louis Farrakhan.
Now, you have responded to the anti-Semitic statements of Representative Omar by providing her a seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee, from which a House Member with such noxious views of Jewish self-defense can do maximal damage to the special US-Israel relationship and the ongoing fight of the civilized world against terrorism.
… We urge you to immediately rescind this ill-considered appointment.
SCOOP: HEARD LAST NIGHT — Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on a conference call hosted by Jim Zogby, Co-Chair of the DNC’s Ethnic Council, when asked about the controversy over Rep. Ilhan Omar’s tweets about AIPAC:“I talked to Ilhan last night to give her my personal support. We will stand by our Muslim brothers and sisters.”
Questions that establishment media journalists would ask Bernie Sanders if they were actually journalists and ever asked Leftists tough questions:
1. Yes, you stand by your Muslim brothers and sisters, but will they stand by you, when the chips are down? Remember the Communist Tudeh Party in Iran, which supported Khomeini and the Islamic Revolution, only to be banned and persecuted by the Khomeini regime.
2. If a first-term Jewish Congresswoman had posted a series of tweets criticizing jihad mass murder and Sharia oppression of women, gays, and others, how many seconds would it have taken you to withdraw your support from her and denounce her?
3. Why doesn’t Ilhan Omar’s retailing of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories bother you? Aren’t you aware of how these conspiracy theories have been used to incite violence against Jews? Haven’t you paused to consider what her obvious belief in these conspiracy theories reveals about her character?
4. The Qur’an depicts the Jews as inveterately evil and bent on destroying the well-being of the Muslims. They are the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166); and more. They are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).
Now, I know you’re not a religious man and don’t take religious texts seriously, but do you understand that Ilhan Omar, as a believing, Sharia-observant Muslim, most likely does take these texts seriously, and probably thinks that they reveal eternal truths that provide her with insight into human interaction now and in all situations? She is, after all, a product of a culture that reveres these texts, and she has never given any sign of departing from the values or norms of that culture.
5. In light of question #4, do you really think that no matter how useful you may be at the moment to Ilhan Omar, that she regards you with anything other than utter contempt? Do you really think that she does not see you as an enemy of Allah who strives to impede the efforts of the Muslims in any possible way?
You may protest at this, that since you are not a religious Jew, this could not possibly be the case, but a constant characteristic of Islamic supremacists is to speak of all Americans as Christians and all Israelis as Jews, despite the fact that many are not religiously observant. Ilhan Omar has never given any indication that she does not see the world in any way other than the way an Islamic supremacist would see it.
You will doubtless call me an “Islamophobe,” Mr. Sanders, and consider the friendship and mutual respect you have established with Ms. Omar to be unshakeable. And you may well be right on the latter; human nature is everywhere the same, and it may be that Ilhan Omar will depart from what the Qur’an and Sunnah tell her about Jews in your case, and establish a lasting bond. There are plenty of precedents. But there are also plenty of precedents of Muslims establishing friendships with Jews and then turning on their Jewish friends, opting for adherence to the Qur’an and Sunnah instead of for the friendship. Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev murdered three of his Jewish friends on September 11, 2011. In August 2003 in Houston, after becoming serious and devout in his observance of Islam, Mohammed Ali Alayed murdered his Jewish friend Ariel Sellouk.
Am I saying Ilhan Omar is going to kill you, Bernie? Of course not. But it’s extremely unlikely that she is ever going to like you. And for all the support you give her, you will be out on your ear as fast as the Tudeh Party the minute you become no longer useful.
Go ahead, call me an “Islamophobe.” But one day you may discover that what I am saying here was not so “racist” and “bigoted” after all.
