HOLLAND PATENT, N.Y. —A school district in New York says that it has addressed a public high school biology teacher — who has agreed to comply — after it received a complaint from the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) that the teacher recently “undermin[ed] the theory of evolution” to students.
FFRF sent a letter to Holland Patent Central School District Superintendent Jason Evangelist on Feb. 18, advising that a “concerned parent” had alerted them to the classroom talk at Holland Patent High School.
It said that biology teacher Phil Lucason told students that when they take the Regents Exam, they will have to “play the evolution game, where evolution is the answer to everything.” He explained that none have been “able to find when something becomes something else” and that evolution is contrary to genetics, such as if a dog “underwent several mutations and became a cat.”
Lucason also reportedly told his class that polar bears could mutate among themselves from brown fur to white fur, but that the eye, for example, could never have evolved because of its complexity and the necessity for a series of mutations.
“So, what that means is that you have to play the evolutionary game because the people writing this are married to that idea, despite the new proofs and the science coming out,” he is quoted as saying about the exam.
FFRF claims that it is illegal for Lucason to speak against evolution in the classroom and rather teach creationism.
“Mr. Lucason’s attempt to undermine what he was teaching is both unconstitutional and pedagogically deplorable,” it wrote. “Teaching creationism or any of its offshoots, such as intelligent design, in a public school is unlawful because creationism is not based on fact.”
The atheist and agnostic organization pointed to various court rulings that held that teaching creation science in the classroom would violate the Establishment Clause by promoting religion.
“Any attempt to teach that there is a controversy about evolution is fraught with legal peril,” it claimed. “Evolution, like gravity, is a scientific fact. … No controversy exists in the scientific community regarding the fact of evolution, and the teaching of alternative theories or a controversy is not only inappropriate and dishonest, it is unconstitutional.”
FFRF requested that the district conduct an investigation into the matter and take corresponding corrective and disciplinary action.
“Mr. Lucason must be directed to refrain from promoting religion or attacking evolution to his students,” it opined. “If he cannot do this, he cannot be a teacher in a public school.”
The parent who complained to FFRF — who has remained anonymous — similarly claimed to the Utica Observer-Dispatch,“A biology teacher telling students that evolution can cause only minor changes within a species and cannot cause one species to gradually become a different species over the course of thousands of years is the equivalent of a math teacher telling students that it’s possible to add two plus three, but it’s impossible to multiply 987 by 6,789.”
“If a math teacher taught his students that multiplication were an impossibility, there would be no question. People wouldn’t say that he was entitled to his opinion,” they said. “He would be told by administration that if he weren’t willing to teach what he is supposed to teach, he would not be allowed to continue as a teacher of the subject. And that’s exactly what should happen in this case.”
Superintendent Evangelist responded to FFRF’s letter on Feb. 26, advising that the district discussed the matter with its attorney and subsequently addressed the teacher, who agreed to comply.
“We have consulted with our legal counsel to confirm a clear understanding of the constitutional requirements referred to in your letter regarding instruction on evolution,” he wrote. “We have addressed these requirements with Mr. Lucason who has indicated his
understanding of the requirements and his commitment to them. We are confident that his presentation of the curriculum will comply with the New York State Education Law and the U.S. Constitution.”
Lucason likewise told the Observer-Dispatch, “Having taught about evolution for 20 years, I know that our students hear various theories on the origins of species. I enumerated some of them by way of example. My mention of those other theories led to the concerns that have been articulated. In the future, I will not refer to other, non-scientific explanations and will clearly teach the science and theory of evolution as the explanation for the development of life on earth as provided by the New York State standards.”
“Darwinian evolutionary theory was my field of specialization in biology. Among other things, I wrote a textbook on the subject thirty years ago. Meanwhile, however I have become an apostate from Darwinian theory and have described it as part of modernism’s origination myth,” wrote Dr. Stanley Salthe, professor emeritus at the Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.
Dr. Marcos Eberlin, the founder of the Thomson Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, said that he became skeptical about evolutionary theory after realizing the wonders of the genetic code and “its many most intelligent strategies to code, decode and protect its information, such as the U x T and ribose x deoxyribose exchanges for the DNA/RNA pair and the translation of its 4-base language to the 20AA language of life.”
He remarked that genetics “absolutely relies on a diversity of exquisite molecular machines made by the products of such translation forming a chicken-and-egg dilemma that evolution has no chance at all to answer.”
As previously reported, not all of those who accompanied Darwin on his journeys supported his theories. During the 1860 Oxford evolution debate, Admiral Robert FitzRoy, who had once served as the captain for Darwin’s voyage to the Galapagos Islands and played a significant role in the development of the Origin of Species, repented of his participation.
Reports state that FitzRoy walked to the front of the room during the debate, “lifting an immense Bible, first with both and afterwards with one hand over his head, [and] solemnly implored the audience to believe God rather than man.”
Colossians 1:15-16 declares, “[Jesus Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”
While not necessarily expressing an adherence to biblical creation, more than 1,000 scientists worldwide have signed on to a “Dissent From Darwinism” statement that expresses skepticism over the theory of biological evolution and calls for the “careful examination” of Charles Darwin’s teachings.
“We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged,” the statement reads.
The list was first launched in 2001 by the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science & Culture, and has now grown to 1,000 and counting. The organization has launched a site where other scientists can sign the statement. It includes comments from prominent professors and researchers who explain why they support the dissent from Darwinism.
“Darwinian evolutionary theory was my field of specialization in biology. Among other things, I wrote a textbook on the subject thirty years ago. He remarked that genetics “absolutely relies on a diversity of exquisite molecular machines made by the products of such translation forming a chicken-and-egg dilemma that evolution has no chance at all to answer.”
“Scientific journals now document many scientific problems and criticisms of evolutionary theory and students need to know about these as well,” also said Philip Skell, an emeritus Evan Pugh professor at Pennsylvania State University. “Many of the scientific criticisms of which I speak are well known by scientists in various disciplines, including the disciplines of chemistry and biochemistry, in which I have done my work.”
Other signers include Alan Linton, the emeritus professor of bacteriology at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom; Michael Kavaya, the senior scientist of the NASA Langley Research Center; William Arion, the emeritus professor of biochemistry at Cornell University; Marvin Fritzler, a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Calgary Medical School in Canada; George Wells, a professor of computer science at Rhodes University in South Africa; and Hsin-Yi Lin, an assistant professor in the department of chemical engineering and biotechnology at the National Taipei University of Technology in Taiwan.
Answers in Genesis, in commenting on the “Dissent from Darwinism” list, noted that a number of signees—while expressing skepticism about Darwin’s writings—haven’t rejected evolution in its totality, and some may simply believe that additional research is needed.
President Ken Ham stated that Christians need to do more than simply discount parts of evolutionary theory, but to stand for Scripture as a whole.
“We need to stand against all beliefs that are contrary to the Word of God, including other evolutionary ideas (evolutionary geology and cosmology, for example) that undermine the authority of the Word of God,” he wrote in a blog post. “So yes, we do applaud what these scientists are doing, but we challenge them to look to God’s Word for the answers to their questions about origins, as many other scientists are already doing.”

“In order to be true to my own principle, I won’t bother you with
information about the different views of the flood. Let me just lay out
my own assumptions. I believe Noah’s flood happened, but that it was a
regional flood, not a world-wide flood…those who insist on it being a
world-wide flood seem to ignore too much the scientific evidence that
there was no such thing.”
–(Tim Keller, Genesis: What Were We Put in the World to Do? [New York: Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 2006],81
My own principle? My own assumptions? Scientific evidence there was never a global flood???
Take note of the dire warning to the Lord’s church by the Apostle
Peter from his second epistle, whereby he clearly illustrates how to
recognize the “scoffers” in this warning:
“This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you;
in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye
may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy
prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and
Savior: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers,
walking after their own lusts, for this they willingly are ignorant of,
that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing
out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was,
being overflowed with water, perished.” 2 Peter: 3: 1-3, 5-6
Question: What does Peter say will be the mark of the coming ungodly scoffers?
Answer: Denial of the worldwide flood.
Keller is a Darwinian evolutionist and you will find him regularly
partnering with the BioLogos Foundation, which was organized for the
sole purpose of replacing the biblical account of creation with Darwin’s
theory of evolution inside the church. This heresy is being cleverly
propagated onto the church as “theistic” evolution, and again we see the
manipulation of language used to promote heinous error in the church.
Theistic
ADJECTIVE
belief in a personal God as creator and ruler of the world.
“Animals, whom we have made our slaves, we do not like to consider are our equal.” Charles Darwin
There is not a word of scripture that suggests any type of
evolutionary process in the Genesis account of creation, as scripture
makes clear that God created in six literal days and rested on the
seventh. How do we know the six days are literal? Because a day is
defined in the creation account:
“And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” Genesis 1:5
Can it possibly be any clearer than this? No.
To prefix the theory of evolution with the term “theistic” makes it a
much easier “sell” to the churches. A clear, concise creation account
of what God did in the span of six days comes from the word of God.
Darwin’s profane and dastardly theory, developed for the sole purpose of
eliminating God, comes from the pit of hell. There is nothing
“theistic” about Darwin’s godless theory, as we review the full title of
(and concept behind) Darwin’s thesis:
“On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle For Life.”
By means of natural selection?
“So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept:
and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and
brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones,
and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken
out of Man.” Genesis 1:27,2:21-23
Preservation of favored races?
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nationhe that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” Acts 10:34
Evolution, from the idea of natural selection to the perversion of preserving only favored races, cannot
be “Christianized.” But that will not stop the false teacher, as they
never allow truth to get in their way. Dr. Timothy J. Keller says the
Genesis account of creation is just poetry, insisting that “science
falsely so-called” should have the last word in the church.
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy
trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science
falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6: 20-21
In an essay he wrote for BioLogos titled Creation, Evolution and Laypeople, Dr. Keller revealed something that is both troubling and very telling about himself and his mission:
“If as a pastor I want to help both believers and inquirers to relate
science and faith coherently, I must read the works of scientists,
exegetes, philosophers, and theologians and then interpret them for my
people. Someone might counter that this is too great a burden to put on
pastors, that instead they should simply refer their laypeople to the
works of scholars. But if pastors are not ‘up to the job’ of distilling
and understanding the writings of scholars in various disciplines, how
will our laypeople do it? This is one of the things that parishioners want from their pastors. We are to be a bridge between the world of scholarship and the world of the street and the pew.
I’m aware of what a burden this is. I don’t know that there has ever
been a culture in which the job of the pastor has been more challenging.
Nevertheless, I believe this is our calling.” https://biologos.org/blogs/archive/creation-evolution-and-christian-laypeople-part-1 Tim Keller says the pastor must build bridges of unity between the
world and the church; he says it is their “calling.” He says it is what
believers want from their pastors…? God’s word is void of any such concept but rather completely condemns this idea, as Paul warns us:
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what
communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with
Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what
agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of
the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in
them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore
come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-17
The Apostle John couldn’t agree more:
“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” 1 John 5:19
Peter concurs that the church and the world are incompatible:
“Dear friends, I warn you as temporary residents and foreigners to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.” 1 Peter 2:11
Peter identified believers as “temporary residents” and “foreigners”
in this corrupt world; this doesn’t help much to promote Keller’s idea
of uniting and building bridges. Jesus is completely at odds with the
idea of his church uniting with the world:
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me first. If
ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are
not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the
world hateth you.Remember the word that I
said unto you, The servant is not greater than his master. If they have
persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” John 15:18-20
The Apostle Paul details the role of the men who
teach the church in undeniably clear language and it is the polar
opposite of Keller’s definition of pastoral ministry:
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord
Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing
and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.” 2 Timothy 4:1-2 “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to
all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to
feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” Acts 20:28 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and
some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of
the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body
of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the
stature of the fulness of Christ” Ephesians 4:11-13

Pastor John M. Otis has written a great book exposing the sinful
error of any form of evolutionary thought in the church, as it robs God
of his glory in creation, undermines all confidence in the word of God
and collapses the very foundation of the Cross regarding the fall of
Adam, sin and death.
Dr. Otis’ warnings to the church regarding evolution and its
compromisers, including Tim Keller, can be found in the three links
below.
You can add Darwinian evolution to the long list of heresies Tim
Keller is promoting in the Lord’s church. We will continue to expose the
extensive error of Keller’s false theology in the next post.

Joel Houston, band member and songwriter with Hillsong United and worship leader at Hillsong NYC, drew numerous questions among followers last week in claiming that evolution, being pursuant to God’s authority and creative Word, “is undeniable” and was “created by God.” The matter has left some confused, and some remain unsure about what Houston meant by his remarks or what he was referring to in using the word “evolution.”
In seeking to sort out his various remarks, some have raised concerns, including the biblical creation organization Answers in Genesis, which deduced from Houston’s statements that the singer is asserting that “God started the universe with the supposed Big Bang and that naturalistic evolutionary processes followed” to bring about His declared will. Houston contends that he was trying to convey that “[s]cience is just catching up with what God said”—that God spoke “Let there be light” and “bang!”
The situation began on June 24 when a follower named Brian Peterson asked Houston, the son of Hillsong founder Brian Houston, if he has ever provided an explanation of the group’s reference to evolution in the popular worship song “So Will I (100 Billion X).”
“All nature and science/Follow the sound of Your voice/And as You speak/A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath/Evolving in pursuit of what You said/If it all reveals Your nature, so will I,” the lyrics state.
“Evolution is undeniable—created by God as a reflective means of displaying nature’s pattern of renewal in pursuance of God’s Word—an ode to the nature of the creative God it reflects—and only ever in part—not the SOURCE!” Houston replied. “Science and faith aren’t at odds. God created the Big Bang.”
As his response drew controversy, Houston posted clarification that he doesn’t believe evolution is the source of all creation—God is the Creator and spoke all things into existence—but that the reference was rather in regard to his view that creation evolves and adapts to catch up with what God authoritatively called it to be. In other words, Houston believes that evolutionary events continue to take place in nature to come into obedience to the Word of God spoken at the beginning.
While he did not provide specific examples of what he believes to be evolution, he agreed with a follower who said that they wanted to keep the discussion of evolution “micro and not macro,” so as not to confuse “bad philosophy with good science.”
“Context—things evolve, they change and adapt. I DON’T believe in evolution as a theory of SOURCE; I believe it’s merely a pattern of nature—created by God, reflecting nature’s desire for renewal, survival, new life—something-SomeONE—like God,” he said.
“I think what gets lost, strangely enough, is that in any case, the Word comes before any kind of Big Bang. ‘Let there be light’!! BOOM!! And there WAS!!!” Houston stated.
He also referred to the matter in a spiritual sense, outlining God’s transformative power, that “[w]e’ve been saved and called to a embody a different nature.”
“I think adaptability is nature’s way; the Spirit calls us to adapt to a different kind of nature—either way, we’re all evolving—towards what, and WHO, is the question for all of us,” Houston stated.
“[A]ccording to the Spirit-nature renewing us, we evolve counter-naturally to that of our earthen nature—ever in response to God’s Word,” he further noted.
When asked if he believes in the Big Bang or a literal six-day creation, he responded vaguely, “It means I believe God created everything and His Word came first.” Yet, when another reader took issue with Houston’s statement that “God created the Big Bang,” he replied, “And the earth was formless and void, darkness covered the earth, and the Spirit was hovering over the surface of the deep. And God said, ‘Let there be light!’ And there was … BANG! That’s all I’m saying. Science is just catching up with what God said.”
Houston also responded to another follower who asked about where he stands on ape to man evolution, advising that he believes God made man out of the dust, as stated in Genesis.
He opined that some were jumping to conclusions about his beliefs and not understanding his words or the words of the song.
“The entire premise of ‘So Will I’ is the redemptive, creative, authority and power of God’s Word. That at the end of the day, all our best theories, ideas, dogmas and best attempts at understanding will ultimately surrender to the ‘Word at the beginning,'” Houston said.
However, he additionally suggested that it doesn’t matter whether God created the universe in a literal six days or if it evolved over time.
“If God’s creative process was an easy working week, or finely crafted over six-ages of millennia, does it make Him any more or less God?” Houston asserted. “Or us any more or less created in His image? Either way, it was an unfathomably wonderful six-day process, however you think to see it.”
Another follower stated that he found a problem with the concept of “whatever your viewpoint, God controlled it,” because if natural selection occurred before The Fall, it would contradict the Scripture that teaches, “Through one man, death entered the world…”
“Well now, we could start going DEEEP!!!! Perhaps too deep for tweets,” Houston replied. “I wasn’t there (literally), so I can’t say … but I don’t believe any of it is a problem to God, when it comes to His redemptive plan for humanity.”
Read Houston’s comments here and here, and view a video explanation of the song recorded in 2017 here.
Ken Ham’s Answers in Genesis was asked by the ministry’s supporters to comment on the matter, and he, along with Dr. Georgia Purdom, said that while “it’s hard to know exactly what Joel Houston is saying,” they concluded that “there’s enough in the tweets to convince us that Joel Houston did use the terms science and evolving in the second verse of the song to mean that God started the universe with the supposed Big Bang and that naturalistic evolutionary processes followed.”
“The terminology used here is common among those who compromise evolution with Genesis … who claim that God started everything with the Big Bang and built into that original creation the laws of nature so that by natural processes everything would unfold over billions of years to produce the universe and all living things as they are today,” Ham and Purdom outlined.
They said that the Big Bang, as it is known in scientific terms, is not biblical.
“Many Christians have argued that the way God created in Genesis could be described as God using a Big Bang as his method. However, the Big Bang model has the stars and sun coming into existence before the earth, whereas the creation account in Genesis clearly teaches that the earth was created before the sun and the stars. Many other contradictions make it clear that God did not use the supposed Big Bang to create,” Ham and Purdom stated.
They opined that if they understand Houston’s tweets correctly, they would not sing the song—especially considering his assertion that it doesn’t matter whether Creation was a literal six days or not—and are concerned about how the tune could influence others based on how he explained it.
“We think his response makes it quite clear that he’s saying a person can believe in evolution/millions of years or six days of creation, but it doesn’t matter, as long as you believe in and worship our Creator God. Now if this is so, would we sing this song? Not at all,” Ham and Purdom stated. “In fact, if our understanding is correct, then this song and what Joel has said about his composition, can, sadly, potentially influence thousands of young people with a compromised position on Scripture in Genesis.”
David Mathis, who also wrote about the matter for Desiring God, said that he wasn’t certain what the lyrics meant either, but remarked that at the very least, the use of “evolving” was a poor word choice, especially for corporate worship.
“Maybe the authors didn’t really mean ‘evolve,’ but only hoped to communicate that God’s hundred billion creatures ‘obey,’ or are ‘led by,’ or are ‘guided by’ what God says. That’s the best possible reading I can imagine, but the problem remains: ‘evolve’ does not mean ‘obey.’ ‘Evolve’ does not mean ‘guide,'” he wrote. “This ‘evolving’ line is either what many of us would view as a foolish compromise with unbelieving philosophy (masquerading as ‘science’), or it’s a very bad word choice.”
“Whatever was intended by the authors, I cannot see how a significant number of worshipers will not be distracted and confused by that word choice—which is disappointing since it’s such a good song otherwise,” Mathis said.
Answers in Genesis said that it would like to see Houston publicly denounce the Big Bang (as used by secular scientists) and evolution, and clearly state that he believes in the literal six-day creation.
“Also, I would like to publicly invite him to come visit the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum, and I would gladly give him a personal tour,” Ham said.
Read Ham’s post in full here and Mathis’ post here.
On Monday, Houston shared a link about a young planet that is stated to still be forming, writing, “Fake news?—or the ever-expanding wonder of God’s Word still creating evolving-things from whence it first spoke ‘little lights into the vault of the sky to help govern the day and the night, and separate light from darkness’?”
Just another example of how mainstream Christianity is falling deeper and deeper into scientism. Hillsong Worship Pastor Joel Houston tweeted out:
Evolution is undeniable—created by God as a reflective means of displaying nature’s pattern of renewal in pursuance of God’s Word—an ode to the nature of the creative God it reflects—and only ever in part—not the SOURCE! Science and faith aren’t at odds. God created the Big-Bang.
“…I am deepening in the mystical forms of prayer.” (Dr. Dan Boone) The above statement is a reflection of the paganistic ideas that guide Dr. Dan Boone’s theology. Dr. Boone is eventually going to run two Christian colleges into the ground. It’s just a matter of time, and perhaps that is what needs to happen. Trevecca Nazarene University has been going downhill spiritually thanks to his leadership. Let’s look at his latest decision, or non-decision, which demonstrates his lack of courage to stand against political correctness and radical Islam. It seems he wants to be their friend, even as he has a history of talking ugly against “fundamental Bible-believers.” The Church of the Nazarene needs some real leadership that is sorely lacking.
Here, see for yourselves: http://tennesseestar.com/2018/01/10/trevecca-university-caves-to-radical-muslims-at-cair-cancels-mae-beavers-event/
In summary, Dr. Boone has allowed Trevecca to cave to one of the most radical Islamic groups in the world. CAIR, which operates here in the United States, claims to be a moderate group interested in peace, but it is far from what it claims. Several years ago, CAIR was identified as a major financial contributor to the Holy Land Foundation, which funneled major money to Hamas, a terrorist group dedicated to the destruction of Israel. CAIR was named as an un-indicted co-conspirator. CAIR is a radical wolf in sheep’s clothing, and Dan Boone has kissed their ring finger.
So what happened in Kentucky? A Homeland Security Summit scheduled for Jan. 25 at Trevecca Nazarene University was suddenly cancelled. It was sponsored by Republican gubernatorial candidate and former State Senator Mae Beavers. Dr. Boone explained that it was cancelled because of complaints from “alumni.”
Here is Dr. Boone’s excuse: “Throughout our history, Trevecca has consistently offered political candidates of both parties the opportunity to use our campus for events. We strongly believe that our students benefit from proximity to the voting process, and that freedom of speech is a foundation of American democracy. However, a recent event tentatively scheduled to be held on our campus appears to have an agenda beyond a political campaign. This event would distract from our commitment to community building, education, and support of a diverse enrollment. Our agenda of Christian education in the heart of Nashville requires that we serve the best interests of this mission. For this reason, the planned event will not be held on Trevecca’s campus.” Here is CAIR’s standard reaction to anyone who opposes their radicalism: “It’s kind of a who’s who of Islamophobes. The themes are always the same – Muslims are about to take over the country and install sharia in place of the Constitution, and mosques are hotbeds of extremism.” ( CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper) This is part of Mae Beaver’s response: “Today Trevecca has abandoned the Biblical principles that they preach in order to embrace political correctness and promote the interests of those who deny Christ and stand opposed to everything the University has represented in the past.”
Dr. Boone And The Real Radicals
Dr. Boone has a history of harsh criticism of Bible-believers, and clearly continues to exhibit a pattern of cow-towing to the politically correct world and radical Islam. He wants to be their friend. He wants to show how “loving” and “tolerant” and “understanding” he can be. He demonstrates, as Mae Beaver pointed out, that he is a supporter of Christ-deniers, and has little concern for Christians. A few years ago, Dr. Boone made a curious decision to welcome a group on campus that was fundamentally opposed to the biblical view of homosexuality. But for the sake of some kind of compassionate dialogue, Dr. Boone allowed the radical homosexual group SoulForce to come onto campus and spout their un-Christian views. There was no problem for Dr. Boone in allowing promoters of sexual sin to invade the Trevecca campus. Here is the link to the article I wrote: https://reformednazarene.wordpress.com/2012/03/26/a-response-to-dan-boones-report-on-soulforce/
Yet he sees a great concern with folks coming to campus to talk about the security of our nation and what to do about radical Islam. Dr. Boone is either a friend of radical Islam, or he does not have the moral courage to stand up to it. That is why he will run Trevecca as well as Eastern Nazarene College into the ground of moral relativism.
Dr. Boone Is The Real Radical Dr. Boone has compared Bible-Believing Christians to Islamic fundamentalists. He says that our appetites have been whetted “by religious blood in the water.” (https://reformednazarene.wordpress.com/2012/10/11/dan-boone-goes-after-bible-believers-again/)
If you were to ever have a conversation with him about the Scriptures, you may just see him become a bit uncomfortable if you express your belief in the infallible, inerrant word of God. If you talk long enough about your complete trust in God’s word, and in your belief in the creation account, he may just very well turn beet-red! You see, he was one of the prime writers of the now-defunct Nazarenes Exploring Evolution, whose website has ignominiously disappeared along with their ungodly articles espousing evolution. Dr. Boone is also into mysticism and Roman Catholic rituals like “practicing the silence”. Dr. Boone once said on his profile at Nazarene Theological Seminary (it is now gone) that “…I am deepening in the mystical forms of prayer.”
His affinity for contemplative spirituality is demonstrated by the prayer labyrinths he popularized at Trevecca for years. When I posted a few articles on the labyrinth at Trevecca, he started calling them prayer paths or prayer walks.
He has long promoted yearly trips for students to the Gethsemani Monastery in Kentucky, a site that was the spiritual home of the Roman Catholic mystic, Thomas Merton. Here at this retreat, students have the opportunity to “practice the silence”, which is nothing more than Catholic mysticism that has no roots in biblical teaching. The “spiritual discipline” of silence is a doctrine of demons.
Dr. Boone is just another in a long line of Nazarenes rushing to hold hands with the Roman Catholic Church. Dr. Boone promotes one of the leading teachers of contemplative mysticism, false teacher Richard Foster. As an example, Foster makes the amazing claim that non-believers can also practice the Christian spiritual disciplines: “We need not be well advanced in matters of theology to practice the Disciplines. Recent converts–for that matter people who have yet to turn their lives over to Jesus Christ–can and should practice them” (Celebration of Discipline, 1978, p. 2). Dr. Boone has called Thomas Merton and Ignatius of Loyola spiritual giants.
Merton was not a spiritual giant- he was a monk who said that he was “deeply impregnated with Sufism” because he believed that Eastern mysticism was compatible with and could be incorporated into Christianity. He placed Mary high on a level equal to Jesus, he prayed to many Catholic saints. He was influenced by Aldous Huxley, who found enlightenment through hallucinogenic drugs.
Ignatius of Loyola was no wiser, and as the founder of the Jesuits he brutally persecuted Christians and swore complete submission to the pope. As most Roman Catholics do, he venerated Mary. He practiced extreme asceticism, living in a cave for a year and never bathing. He also promoted and taught visualization prayers, breath prayers, and other unbiblical practices (Source: David Cloud, Way of Life). Yet, Dan Boone calls him a spiritual giant. In a letter to Nazarene pastors he wrote in 2009, Dr. Boone not only erroneously claimed that the Roman Catholic church was the only church for 1500 years after Christ, but he also exposed more error along with his ecumenical get along with everyone philosophy. How is it that we can “be one” with the Roman Catholic Church? “While Nazarenes are different from Catholics in very significant ways, we believe that we will share eternity with them in the presence of the Christ who prayed that we might be one.” (Dan Boone)
His philosophy seems to be that anyone who claims the name of Jesus, no matter their belief otherwise, will spend eternity with Christ. This is contrary to Jesus’s teaching, and indicates Dr. Boone’s dangerous and ignorant thinking as he misleads others.
Dr. Boone may become a General Superintendent one day, and it will be no surprise. He knows how to play the game well. He is a friend to the LGBTQ agenda, and has demonstrated his support for them. He fought hard at the General Assembly in 2013 to water down the statement on human sexuality. He would be welcomed eagerly by Love Wins: LGBT, Andy McGee, as well as the leadership of the Dutch Nazarene district and other districts and churches that are slowly inching towards the normalization of homosexuality. It’s just a matter of time.
Such a man is what it will take to further go down the road of biblical compromise in the church. It is a road to further heresy and the destruction of a holiness denomination. And we still hear nothing from the General Superintendents about anything- all is well.
http://tennesseestar.com/2018/01/10/trevecca-university-caves-to-radical-muslims-at-cair-cancels-mae-beavers-event/; EXCERPTS: "“The best indication that the Homeland Security Summit we were hosting is both necessary and important is the fact that CAIR doesn’t like it,” Beavers noted.
“CAIR consistently opposes efforts to improve our security and protect our communities from the terror attacks that are the weapon of choice of radical political Islam. Being the target of criticism from CAIR is a badge of honor, particularly when they never find any basis to criticize any other Republican candidates for Governor who all apparently meet with the approval of CAIR,” Beavers said.
“Nevertheless, I am very disappointed that with all the other liberal-oriented political events held on the Trevecca campus that they would cancel our Summit based on complaints from CAIR,” Beavers continued, adding:
CAIR seeks to silence any and all voices that do not bow
to their claim that Islam is “peaceful and tolerant.” Sadly, the Yazidi
women and children in Iraq who were targets of ISIS, the Coptic
Christians in Egypt, the 300 killed by Al-Shabbab in Somalia in October,
the dozens of victims at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the 14
murdered at a Christmas party in San Bernardino, the five service
members murdered by Mohammed Abdulazeez in CHATTANOOGA, and the
thousands who are killed each year throughout the world at the hands of
radical Islamists might disagree with CAIR’s propaganda campaign. CAIR
and the Southern Poverty Law Center are much more focused on designating
and silencing any speech they disagree with as “hate speech” rather
than confronting and condemning the truly evil and hateful ACTIONS that
are produced by political Islam that they condone.”
“I grew up practically on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University,” Beavers noted.
“I went to elementary school there. I graduated from college there. My husband attended college there. My dad and uncle brought the lumber from my granddaddy’s sawmill in Alabama to build the McClurkan Building,” Beavers pointed out.
Despite the eleventh-hour cancellation by Trevecca, the Homeland Security Summit’s Eventbrite page is still up and active as organizers scramble to relocate the event.
In addition to Mae Beavers, headlining the Summit are nationally recognized subject matter experts on Islam and the imperative of jihad, Dr. Bill Warner, Cathy Hinners, and John Guandolo:"

Quoting from their letter, “Groups of young adults have brought the Equality Ride bus to more than 70 campuses over the last four years with the heartfelt mission of creating dialogue about the inclusion and community climate of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) people.” The group was respectful, congenial, and informed. They came in a spirit of friendship and left in the same spirit. We were able to converse with each other in a manner befitting respect and charity. They spoke on behalf of a hurting minority in the church and on the campus whose gender orientation makes life challenging for them. They left us with 3 requests:
1) that we change the wording of our behavioral policies to more equally treat gay, lesbian, and queer persons (their preferred titles),
2) that we specifically name our opposition to bullying on the basis of gender orientation by naming the LGBTQ in our policy, and
3) that we create a LGBTQ Club on the campus as a safe place for students to discuss their sexual orientation.

Tennessee’s Trevecca Nazarene University drops Homeland Security Summit after complaints from Hamas-linked CAIR
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
This egregious USA Today article is full of the usual nonsense: it’s
“anti-Muslim” to oppose jihad terror, Hamas-linked CAIR is presented as
if it were the civil rights organization it claims to be, without any
indication of the fact that CAIR officials have refusedtodenounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case —
so named by the Justice Department. Several former CAIR officials have
been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s
cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief
spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements
about how Islamic law should be imposed in the U.S. (Ahmad denies this,
but the original reporter stands by her story.) CAIR chapters frequently distribute pamphlets
telling Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement. CAIR has opposed
virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or
implemented and has been declared a terror organization by the United
Arab Emirates. A CAIR operative recently called for the overthrow of the U.S. government. An unsavory Hamas-linked group and a hard-Left smear group, the
Southern Poverty Law Center, should not be allowed to control who speaks
about security issues and who doesn’t, much less to control the public
discourse to the extent that only its point of view is represented in a
major newspaper. But that is the world we live in today.
“Trevecca Nazarene University blocks Mae Beavers event criticized as anti-Islam,” by Natalie Allison, USA Today, January 10, 2018:
Amid criticism, Trevecca Nazarene University has
withdrawn as a venue this month for a controversial event organized by
Republican gubernatorial candidate Mae Beavers.
The Jan. 25 “Homeland Security Summit” will feature three speakers
known by critics for espousing anti-Muslim views, including Bill French —
listed on promotional materials under his pen name “Bill Warner” —
Cathy Hinners and John Guandolo.
“It’s kind of a who’s who of Islamaphobes,” said Ibrahim Hooper,
communications director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations,
known as CAIR.
“The themes are always the same: Muslims are about to take over the
country and install sharia in place of the Constitution, and mosques are
hotbeds of extremism.”
Beavers released a statement on Wednesday describing Trevecca’s
decision as “caving to Islamic pressure” and said the university had
“abandoned Biblical principles in order embrace [sic] political
correctness and promote the interests of those who deny Christ.”
In a statement to USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee on Wednesday, the
university said the event would distract from Trevecca’s mission.
“Throughout our history, Trevecca has consistently offered political
candidates of both parties the opportunity to use our campus for
events,” according to the statement from spokeswoman Mandy Crow. “We
strongly believe that our students benefit from proximity to the voting
process, and that freedom of speech is a foundation of American
democracy.
“However, a recent event tentatively scheduled to be held on our
campus appears to have an agenda beyond a political campaign. This event
would distract from our commitment to community building, education,
and support of a diverse enrollment. Our agenda of Christian education
in the heart of Nashville requires that we serve the best interests of
this mission. For this reason, the planned event will not be held on
Trevecca’s campus.”
Trevecca President Dan Boone said in a statement on Tuesday the
university shared concerns expressed by alumni who had contacted the
school after learning of the event.
Beavers, 70, is an alumna of the university.
Crow said Tuesday that Boone’s office had received complaints about
the event and school officials began researching the speakers.
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee confirmed it distributed
a letter to roughly 3,000 people over the weekend who had previously
signed its Nashville Unites resolution in an effort to inform them about
the controversial summit being planned.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether the event will go on at another venue. CAIR issued a statement on Wednesday announcing that it “welcomes” the university’s decision to drop the event.
Following criticism, Beavers points finger at critics
In response to CAIR’s initial criticism of the event’s speakers,
Beavers noted that the Muslim advocacy group had been designated a
terrorist group by the United Arab Emirates and alleged the organization
was involved in “terrorism in the Holy Land.”
The U.S. government does not deem CAIR a terror group.
In an interview about the summit, Beavers said she decided to
organize the event because she is concerned about illegal immigration,
and that Americans and Tennesseans “don’t know who is coming here.”
Though Beavers said the event is on “homeland security” in general,
all the speakers featured in the summit express a clear focus on Islam. “I think Islam is a threat to our country,” Beavers said in response
to whether she was against the religion, before adding that she believes
“Islam is a political agenda.” She disagreed that the summit could be classified as an anti-Islam event.
Beavers described herself as “the only gubernatorial candidate who
has been talking about homeland security,” and told the USA TODAY
NETWORK – Tennessee she was forming an “advisory committee on homeland
security.”
When asked about homeland security risks facing Tennessee, Beavers
noted “the crime and the gangs that have come here because of illegal
immigration.”
Event speakers long-criticized by civil rights groups
Guandolo, a former FBI agent who runs the website and training group
“Understanding The Threat,” was accused by a Minnesota sheriff last year
of assaulting him at a national law enforcement conference.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Guandolo is an
“anti-Muslim extremist” who has been barred by multiple law enforcement
agencies from continuing to conduct training workshops due to his
conspiracy theories about Muslims.
Multiple events being led by Guandolo and his Understanding The
Threat associate Chris Gaubatz have been canceled, including as recently
as Tuesday in Amherst County, Virginia.
French runs the Nashville-based Center for the Study of Political
Islam, which the SPLC has also labeled a hate group, and was a leader in
opposing plans in 2010 for a new mosque in Murfreesboro.
He formerly worked as a physics professor at Tennessee State University.
Hinners, who lives in the Nashville area, is a retired Albany, N.Y.,
police officer who now runs the blog Daily Roll Call, where she claims
to expose “the Islamists and their organizations throughout the country,
with an emphasis on the State of Tennessee,” according to her LinkedIn
profile….

As vast numbers of Muslims claim to be American, just as many are
responsible for the downfall of our society as we know it by demanding
change and accommodations which only behoove Islamists. Looking back at a
year when divisiveness and hatred were at an all time high, look deeper
and you will see exactly what was the cause. Islamists have attacked three things Americans hold dear, our faith,
our children, and our security. All have been undermined by an ideology
that is disguised as a religion called Islam. So how is this creating a
divisive United States? Let’s start with the security. Islamists have
pushed, and sued, for Muslim refugees and immigrants to be able to enter
the U.S, despite travel bans and stricter vetting policies. As if that
wasn’t enough, Muslims have also jumped on the “sanctuary city” issue,
promoting their social justice and civil rights agenda, which doe not
take into account the safety or security of Americans at all.
It’s all about their caliphate, or the desire to create a world where
Islam reigns supreme, and sharia (Islamic law) is the only law
allowed. In order to do this, the population of Muslims must expand
greatly, at which time their voices become louder, and they have
influence in positions of power. This year, 2018, we are seeing scores
of Muslims running for public offices, from Governors to local state
representatives. Keep in mind, sharia law is completely antithetical to
the Constitution of the United States, with many having already been
sworn in with one hand on the Quran.
Several front groups, like the Council on American Islamic Relations
(CAIR) and their executives, openly encourage members of the Muslim
community to refuse to talk to law enforcement if questioned, and demand
mosques not be surveilled, even if there is radicalization occurring.
While Muslims have opened and operate large numbers of Islamic
schools for their children, they continue to press issues in America’s
public schools, demanding accommodations, and tolerance, even in schools
run by and attended by Christians and Jews. One of the more dangerous
trends is the disproportionate, inaccurate education of children on
Islam in schools across the country. Glossing over the truth about who
the prophet Muhammad was, is especially alarming since he was a
murderous pedophile, but is depicted in textbooks as a good, pious man.
All this under the guise of “social studies” for 7th graders.
Finally the faith of millions of Americans is challenged with many
attending “interfaith” gatherings where they are told to believe all
gods are the same, including allah, which is only arabic for god. Using
the Quran as the basis for their lies, suras are recited in part, which
gives the appearance to many that Islam is a peaceful, tolerant
religion. What is not discussed during these events, are the Sira ( the
prophet Muhammads biography) or the hadiths, his traditions. Even the
Reliance of the Traveller, which is the classic book of Islamic law, is
never mentioned, as all of these books reveal the truth about non
believers, and how inferior we are.
In each case, anyone who questions the actions of Muslims as to
their true beliefs and intentions is seen as a bigot, hater or
Islamophobe. Muslims in America have portrayed themselves as victims
garnering the support of those who blindly believe what they are told
rather than questioning or researching for themselves. In this day and
age, where even the majority of the main stream media does not
investigate or report the truth, it is easier to go with the flow and
not be labeled.
Muslims have chosen to use these labels which has cast a fear over
anyone that does speak out to fear losing their job, friends and family
members.
In the end, this creates a pitting of Americans against each other, just what enemies of a society do.
More to come..
