Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism. In Los Angeles, it’s not unusual to see a Beemer streak by with a Bernie 2020 sticker on the back bumper. There’s no such thing as a poor socialist and Bernie’s backers tend to have lots of cash. While Bernie Sanders accuses Bloomberg of trying to buy his way to the nomination, the socialist bought his surge with $50 million in spending. He raised $25 million just in January. There’s more buying to do.And while he boasts of backing from small donors, the wealth of his donors is anything but small.Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. Their employees are three of the top 4 Bernie donors. Apple is in fifth place. These dot coms are not exactly organizations known to employ members of the proletariat. Google software engineers have sent thousands of dollars, individually, to Bernie.Google’s senior engineers, like the ones who have backed Bernie, make $250,000 a year.Geographically, Bernie's top dollar zip code is 94110 in San Francisco. The average household income in this part of the Mission District, specifically the Inner Mission, the Bernal Heights area, is $166,302. The median home value is around $1.5 million and the median rent is almost $5,000 a month. There are no poor socialists in what was dubbed as “the hottest neighborhood in San Francisco.”This was the area that Salon founder David Talbot blasted as the "hottest zip code in the country" overrun by "Silicon Valley movers and shakers" in "new-model Teslas, BMWs and Uber limousines". It’s only fitting that it should also be the spigot through which so much of Bernie’s tech bros dollars flow. The second top dollar Bernie zip code in San Francisco, 94117 or Haight-Ashbury, seems like a better fit for Bernie. But the Summer of Love has long since given way to the Winter of Trust Fund Hipsters in the Haight where the average income is $201,503 and average home values top $1.6 million. The media has made much of Bernie’s flow of donations from Brooklyn. But the money isn’t coming from the working-class Brooklynites of Bernie’s old neighborhood, but the gentrifying areas of the borough. 11215 or Park Slope is the second biggest top dollar zip code of Bernie donors. The neighborhood, formerly urban, known as the home of Mayor Bill de Blasio, and the Park Slope Food Co-Op and its anti-Semitic push to boycott Israel, is filled with renovated brownstones filled with wealthy hipsters. It’s a place where a three-bedroom apartment can go for $2.9 million. To New Yorkers, Park Slope has become a curse word embodying everything wrong with the new elite. In third place on Bernie’s donor list is 10025 or the Upper West Side of Manhattan. With an average rental price of $4,695, it’s not exactly an inexpensive place to live. The UWS is the 8th richest neighborhood with a $190,281 mean household income. And this is where Bernie’s cash comes from.11238 or Prospect Heights, in fourth place, is a newly gentrified neighborhood in Brooklyn where the median sales price passed $1 million, and you can expect to spend $800,000 for a one-bedroom co-op. The formerly urban neighborhood has been colonized by wealthy hipsters from Park Slope, and much of what goes for Park Slope also goes for Prospect Heights. They’re the gentrifiers funding Bernie Sanders. In fifth place is 98103, the Seattle neighborhood of Wallingford. With an average household income of $124,504, the University of Washington neighborhood with its $800,000 homes isn’t working class. Among the cheapest housing options is a $400,000 one-bedroom condo that’s a mere 757 square feet. The area is so expensive because it’s home to tech employees, including Microsoft engineers.Microsoft employees are among Bernie’s top dollar donors. And in seventh place is 90026. The Echo Park neighborhood in Los Angeles is a hipster haven which boasts the most expensive pizza in the city where the median price for housing is $813,000, and rents can hit $6,700 a month. Like Park Slope and Haight-Ashbury, Echo Park is full of wealthy hipsters. That’s Bernie’s core demographic. In eight place is the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago at zip code 60647. Logan Square is among the most expensive neighborhoods in the Windy City. A condo will set you back over half a million dollars. The rush got so bad that a garage transformed into a home was going for $2.85 million. With its hipster bars and a farmers market, it’s the perfect area for Bernie’s upscale and trendy base.Ninth and tenth on the list of Bernie’s money neighborhoods are two expensive Manhattan areas.10003, Union Square and Greenwich Village in downtown Manhattan, is home to NYU, once a hive of angry radicals, now stuffed full of luxury co-ops with wealthy radicals, where condos cost millions of dollars. Greenwich Village has been listed as the ninth most expensive neighborhood in New York City. So, it’s only fitting that it’s the ninth on the list of areas funding the Sanders 2020 presidential campaign. In tenth place is 10011 or Chelsea and the West Village of Manhattan. It’s also the single most expensive zip code in New York City. Not only is it the most expensive area in New York, but it’s the 23rd most expensive area in the country with a median sale price approaching $2 million. And with average monthly rents of over $4,000, it’s the 19th most expensive rental area in the entire United States. It’s also home to New York’s Silicon Alley, the city’s tech industry ghetto of dot com and fintech startups. What do Bernie’s top donor zip codes have in common? Beyond wealth, Bernie’s cash flow is coming from a handful of very blue cities, almost all of them in California and New York City. Only two of the top ten zip codes are located outside San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City. That alone conveys the insular and unrepresentative nature of Bernie’s funding base compared to the rest of the country.Bernie’s campaign is powered by the very concentrations of power and wealth that he condemns. The unrepresentative nature of Bernie’s backers isn’t just a matter of geography, but of culture. Some of Bernie’s top dollar zip codes overlap with the tech industry. His candidacy represents another example of how the tech industry has not only distorted our economy, but also warped our politics.Much of Bernie’s money comes from hipster hubs where wealthy young white people in major urban areas have made old neighborhoods, including Bernie’s Brooklyn, unaffordable to the working class and middle-class people who once used to live there. Bernie’s donors, especially in places like Prospect Heights and Echo Park have also played a significant role in displacing minorities and the poor.Follow Bernie’s money and it’s easy to see his campaign for the hypocritical farce that it is.Tech industry bros and trust fund hipsters are buying the nomination for Bernie, while displacing minority candidates, the way they bought up brownstones in Brooklyn and displaced black people. He’s the candidate of class warfare, not on behalf of the poor, but of young wealthy people seeking more power and influence at the expense of the more established wealth of an older generation. It’s tech industry bros warring for influence with fossil fuel titans, not for the poor, but for themselves.Bernie’s base is much less than 1%. Call it the 0.001%. A wealthy and influential young lefty elite with disproportionate influence over the internet is setting the nation’s agenda using digital media, tech dominance, and the Weekend at Bernie’s campaign of a senile socialist who barely knows where he is and won’t release his medical records after a heart attack because they will show he’s barely there."Not me. Us."That’s Bernie’s slogan. It’s true, just not how people are meant to perceive it. Bernie is little more than a puppet of the campaign pros who made him a household name in 2016 and are trying to make him more than that now. The “Us” are not Americans or even Democrats. It’s the elites of these zip codes.0.001% of the country is using a confused elderly socialist as a proxy for imposing their will on America. The 2020 election will be a test of wills between Americans and the 0.001% living in Park Slope, Echo Park, the Mission District, and Haight-Ashbury. After eight years of hipster rule under Obama, is the country ready to bow it heads and let a handful of wealthy young radicals run their lives again?

Whenever this kind of thing comes up, there is no discussion of what the Qur’an actually says. It calls for warfare against and the subjugation of unbelievers, second-class status for women, hatred of Jews, and more. So a case can be made that this was not the best course of action for Paterson officials to take. At very least, a public discussion should take place. The idea that one cannot even raise questions about the wisdom of oath-taking on the Qur’an is in line with the Left’s sinister and increasingly open authoritarianism, but it is not in line with the American principle of free inquiry.“First Muslim Police Chief in US City Sworn in with Hand on Quran,” by Safaa Kasraoui, Morocco World News, February 16, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):__________________________________________________________________ SEE OUR PREVIOUS POST:Rabat – US has appointed a Muslim police chief for the city of Paterson, New Jersey, earlier this month.Ibrahim “Mike” Baycora is the city of Paterson’s first Turkish-American and Muslim police chief, Anadolu Agency reported.A video shows the security personnel putting his left hand on Quran to swear in during a ceremony at city hall has gone viral. The 60-year old chief has been serving at Paterson’s police department for over three decades.Proud of the promotion, Baycora said he considers Paterson as his home “for the better part of a half a century.”“Paterson has been in my blood my whole life, and now to be its police chief after a 32-year career — what an honor!”He said he does not think that his religio [sic] will make a difference….PATERSON, NEW JERSEY CITY COUNCIL ORDINANCE WILL ALLOW ISLAMIC CALL TO PRAYER OVER LOUDSPEAKERS

So what did Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders do after days of criticism for his kind words about Cuban communist tyrant Fidel Castro, whose mass murders by firing squad were so frequent that vultures gathered at the sound of the gunfire? He raised the bet and said the same thing in Tuesday’s debate on CBS. And the day before, he added Red China to the list of countries to be admired for their strides in combating human misery.Understandably, Democrats are in full panic mode over the thought of Sanders in a contest against President Trump because Americans will reject the Democrat candidate’s pie-in-the-sky socialist programs that will bankrupt the country. Now, they must contend with his defense of communist mass murderers. The Latest Americans heard Sanders’ latest defense of Castro’s dictatorship last night.“Of course you have a dictatorship in Cuba,” Sanders confessed. But “what I said is what Barack Obama said.... That Cuba made progress on education.”The crowd booed.“Really?! Really?!” Sanders harrumphed.“What Barack Obama said is they made great progress on education and health care,” the elderly Bolshevik continued. “Occasionally, it might be a good idea to be honest about American foreign policy” because the U.S. government has overthrown governments “all over the world.”But “when dictatorships, whether it is the Chinese or the Cubans, do something good,” he added, “you acknowledge that, but you don’t have to trade love letters to them.”The Cuba controversy began when CBS’ 60 Minutes aired Sanders’ comments about Castro. Said Sanders:We’re very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba, but, you know, it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad, you know? When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing? Even though Fidel Castro did it?The comment didn't go over well.Tweeted Michael Bloomberg, “Fidel Castro left a dark legacy of forced labor camps, religious repression, widespread poverty, firing squads, and the murder of thousands of his own people. But sure, Bernie, let’s talk about his literacy program.”The next night at CNN’s Town Hall, Sanders repeated his praise of the Cuban mass murderer. When Fidel Castro first came to power ... you know what he did? He initiated a major literacy program. There was a lot of folks in Cuba at that point who were illiterate. And he formed a literacy brigade. He went out and they helped people learn to read and write. You know what, I think teaching people to read and write is a good thing. After bragging that he opposed dictatorships everywhere, he added kudos for the Chinese Reds:I happen to believe in democracy, not authoritarianism. But you know, you can take China as another example. China is an authoritarian country becoming more and more authoritarian. But can anyone deny, I mean the facts are clear, that they have taken more people out of extreme poverty than any country in history. Do I get criticized because I say that? That’s the truth. So that is a fact. End of discussion. Some Chinese might say 65 million dead thanks to Mao’s communist tyranny is the “end of the discussion,” but anyway, Sanders went on.“Truth is truth,” he insisted when moderator Chris Cuomo observed that Sanders’ fellow party members believe Castro should never be praised. One of them was Pete Buttigieg: “Why are we spotlighting the literacy programs of a brutal dictator, instead of being unambiguous in our condemnation about the way he has treated his own people?” he asked.Kiss Florida Goodbye? No wonder Democrats are scared. They think praising Castro might help reelect Donald Trump.MarÃa Teresa Kumar, chief of Voto Latino, said the party will lose Florida if Sanders wins the nomination.“You can kiss Florida goodbye,” she said on MSNBC. “Floridians — Latinos that have fled socialism, they have fled and they are in Florida, and they have sensibilities that are different from the rest of the Latino community.”Representative Donna Shalala, who represents Florida’s 27th district, said likewise.“I’m hoping that in the future, Senator Sanders will take time to speak to some of my constituents before he decides to sing the praises of a murderous tyrant like Fidel Castro,” she tweeted. As The New American reported last week, party veterans who remember what happened when the party chose a hard-left candidate in 1972 believe another disaster is forthcoming if Sanders becomes the nominee.

Haney was found dead of a gunshot wound on the morning of Friday, February 21, California. The author of See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government's Submission to Jihad, Haney was an outspoken critic of the Obama administration’s systematic destruction of crucial data in the DHS database concerning Islamist terrorist organizations and hundreds of individuals in the United States involved in Islamic radicalism. This scrubbing of the data, he charged, greatly crippled the ability of intelligence and law enforcement to protect America, denying them information that “could have prevented subsequent domestic Islamist attacks.” Haney, a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security following the 9/11 terror attacks, testified before the U.S. Senate, and appeared on numerous radio, television, and Internet programs.(A C-SPAN video of his 2016 Senate testimony on terrorism and violent extremism can be viewed here.)Relatives, friends, and colleagues were quick to voice doubt about the initial finding that the cause of Haney’s death was a “self-inflicted” gunshot, and began posting social-media statements challenging the rush to designate his death as a suicide. This writer reached out to a number of friends and colleagues who had worked with him and spoken with him recently, including Trevor Loudon, Brannon Howse, Representative Matt Shea, Clare Lopez, Kip Webster, and others. The key points that were reiterated by one person after another were that:1) Phil Haney was a devout Christian who considered suicide a sin, and therefore forbidden;2) He was happy and upbeat, making plans for his forthcoming book and his book-speaking tours;3) After grieving for his wife, who died of cancer, he had found love again and was looking forward to an upcoming marriage to his fiancé;4) He had stated to many people that if he is ever found dead of a supposed “suicide” to “never believe it for a minute”;5) He was looking forward to returning to work in the DHS under President Trump;6) He said he has massive digitally archived files from DHS with damning evidence;7) He stated that his new book would be naming names and would blow the lid off the ongoing corruption in the DHS and the intelligence community;8) There are many Deep State operatives of the “DC swamp” — both active and retired — who would have motive for stopping him.One of the first persons The New American talked to about Haney’s death is Brannon Howse, one of Haney’s closest friends and colleagues. Haney had appeared as a guest on Howse’s radio and television programs and conferences many times and had launched his own program, National Security Meltdown, on Howse’s World View Weekend TV (WVWTV). According to Howse, Haney was planning to use National Security Meltdown as the title for his new book. On February 24, Howse posted clips of Haney from his documentary Sabotage, and asked in the title of the posting, “Is This Why Deep State Was Afraid of Phil Haney?”When this writer asked Howse if he believed that Phil Haney had committed suicide, he immediately responded, “Nobody that knows him believes it.”“When I talked to him two weeks ago he was excited, happy,” said Howse. “He was happy about his new fiancé, his upcoming wedding, he was taking bookings for speaking engagements, he was looking forward to the release of his book, to filming more TV shows, and to a planned trip to Israel. This was not a man contemplating suicide. And he had told me, as he had told others, that if he were ever murdered it would be made to look like a suicide.”Howse says he was tipped off about the death by a mutual friend, Reverend Brandon Halthaus, Haney’s pastor, who was one of the first to know that Haney had died. Howse immediately called the Amador County Sheriff’s Department Friday evening, before any news accounts had been published. “I asked them, ‘Do you know who this man [Haney] is,” he recounted. “I told them, ‘He has many friends and enemies in high places and has received many threats. If you put it out that this is a suicide you better be able to prove it because he has many friends in government, in intelligence, in law enforcement and many friends with media platforms that are going to be all over this.’ And I strongly emphasized that they should not rush to label this a suicide before proper forensics had been done.”What was the response? The department spokesman said they were currently working on a statement and curtly dismissed Howse’s concerns with the comment, “We’re professionals!” Howse requested that the department send him an e-mail of any press statement concerning Haney’s death as soon as one was available. “Within an hour they e-mailed me the press release stating it appeared to be a ‘self-inflicted gunshot wound,’ which to me says suicide, since it is even more unlikely that he would have accidentally shot himself.”Below is the full text of the Amador County Sheriff-Coroner Office’s statement of Friday, February 21 (which is no longer on the county’s website):On February 21, 2020 at approximately 1012 hours, deputies and detectives responded to the area of Highway 124 and Highway 16 in Plymouth to the report of a male subject on the ground with a gunshot wound. Upon their arrival, they located and identified 66 year old Philip Haney, who was deceased and appeared to have suffered a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. A firearm was located next to Haney and his vehicle. This investigation is active and ongoing. No further details will be released at this time. However, after a weekend of being besieged by members of the public and alternative media journalists, the coroner’s office changed its tune. On Monday, February 24, Amador County Sheriff Martin A. Ryan, who also doubles as coroner, issued a new press release indicating the Haney death is not now an open-and-shut “self-inflicted” case, but is an investigation that “is still active and will be ongoing.” The press statement says Haney was found deceased “in a park and ride open area adjacent to State Highway 16 near State Highway 124 ... less than three miles from where he was living,” in a Plymouth, California, RV park."Unfortunately, there was misinformation immediately being put out that we have determined Mr. Haney’s death to be a suicide. That is not the case," Ryan’s statement says. According to the release, a forensic autopsy will be performed by pathologists from the Sacramento County Coroner's Office, and the FBI has been asked to assist. "We are currently in possession of his vehicle, the firearm located at the scene, and his RV and we will be requesting evidence processing assistance from the FBI on those items as well," the press release states. “No determination will be made until all evidence is examined and analyzed," it continues. In a second interview subsequent to the revised release, Brannon Howse told The New American that this abrupt about-face by the sheriff-coroner was almost certainly the result of public pressure, as well as “high-level pressure” from a number of people in government who recognized Haney’s value to national security. “What was so incredible,” he says, “was that he says ‘unfortunately, there was misinformation,’ as if someone other than he had put it out! If there was misinformation, it’s because the sheriff-coroner office put it out!”Author-researcher and national security expert Trevor Loudon has worked closely with Phil Haney, and featured interviews with Haney in his documentary, The Enemies Within. While saying he doesn’t categorically reject the suicide verdict as a possibility, Loudon (who has written articles for this magazine) told The New American that there are several factors that are hard to overcome in order to support that finding in Haney’s case: “First of all, he’s a very devout Christian and would know that suicide is wrong; secondly, he told many people that if he ever turns up a dead, don’t believe it’s a ‘suicide’; third, when I talked with him a month ago, he was happy and upbeat, which is what everyone else close to him reports; and fourth, he was an expert in firearms, making it highly unlikely he would have accidentally shot himself; and fifth, if he wanted to commit suicide, it's unlikely he would have shot himself in the chest.”Washington State Representative Matt Shea, who hosts a radio show on the American Christian Network (CAN) out of Spokane, has featured Haney as a guest and was scheduling a speaking tour of the Pacific Northwest with Haney for this coming April. “I had him on my program by phone three weeks ago,” he told The New American. “After the show, we prayed together and he was very happy, looking forward to getting married, looking forward to our ‘Reach Out Northwest’ speaking tour together.... I can’t believe that he would ever commit suicide.”Kip Webster, a professional field coordinator for The John Birch Society, sponsored Haney for speaking engagements in 2018 in Connecticut and New Jersey. He told this writer that Haney, a member of the Society, was “a very impressive man, extremely intelligent and obviously very brave,” because he not only put his career on the line but also risked his life with the terrorists and high-level government types he was exposing. “We played phone tag a couple weeks ago but didn’t connect,” he said, “But I had no indication he was depressed, suicidal, or anything out of the ordinary.”This seems to be the response from virtually everybody who knew him, including members of his family. “No one in the family believes this is a suicide,” Judith Haney, Phil’s stepmother, told True Pundit. “I mean he was enjoying doing talk radio and was working on another book and was excited about that,” she said. “With his history with the government and everything, it is very, very suspicious but with this kind of situation we realize we may never know the truth about what happened. That’s something we all know and live with but it is still early.”Many others who knew Haney have weighed in on the matter to express suspicion or disbelief concerning the instant suicide verdict, including:Leo Hohmann, journalist, author, blogger;Sara A. Carter, investigative journalist and Fox News commentator;Paul Sperry, investigative journalist, author of Infiltration;Clare Lopez, former CIA operations officer;Brigitte Gabriel, survivor of terrorism, Islamic terrorism expert;David Baldovin, former FBI agent;John Guandolo, author, speaker, and former FBI counterterrorism expert;Jan Markell, author, radio show host, speaker;Shahram Hadian, Christian pastor, former Muslim, and former police officer;Pastor Greg Young, radio show host; andTom Trento, radio talk-show host.Where’s Phil Haney’s Data?Of great concern to many of Haney’s friends and admirers is the fate of his vast trove of data, as well as the status of his much-anticipated forthcoming book. On February 22, Kerry Picket of the Washington Examiner reported that Haney had sent the Examiner a text on November 11, 2019 concerning plans for his new book and speaking tours in the months ahead. "I have a severely hyper-organized archive of everything that's happened since See Something, Say Nothing (SSSN) was published in May of 2016,” Haney’s text said. “The National Security Meltdown sequel will pick up right where SSSN left off. My intention is to have it ready by early-to mid-Spring of 2020 (just before the political sound wave hits), then ride that wave all the way to the Nov. elections."Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) made reference to Haney’s archive “insurance” in a February 23 tweet, in which he also discounted the early reports of suicide: “Phil Haney was a friend & patriot. He was a target because of all he knew of Islamic terrorist coverups. He insured his life by archiving data that incriminated the highest levels of the Obama administration. Phil Haney didn’t kill himself. RIP, Phil.”Phil Haney was a friend & patriot. He was a target because of all he knew of Islamic terrorist coverups. He insured his life by archiving data that incriminated the highest levels of the Obama administration. Phil Haney didn’t kill himself. RIP, Phil. https://t.co/pvy7MflFwc— Steve King (@SteveKingIA) February 23, 2020Several of Haney’s friends told this reporter they are confident that he got copies of his documents and hard drives to key members of Congress and other friends who will make sure that his information will be put to good use. However, the death of Phil Haney leaves a tragic hole that will be difficult to fill in any future attempts to bring the criminals of the Deep State to Justice.(Stay tuned for more developments on this fast-breaking story).Related articles:________________________________________________________________ALSO SEE OUR PREVIOUS POST:
