BONO LOVES “THE MESSAGE”
(Friday Church News Notes, January 3, 2020, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
In an interview with Jenna Bush Hager (President George W. Bush’s daughter) on the Today Show, rock star Bono of the band U2, said that his favorite Bible version, and the one he reads to his children, is Eugene Peterson’s The Message. He also said that his children read “mostly mainstream books,” including Harry Potter. He recommended LifeLines by Martin Wroe and Malcolm Doney, explaining, “It’s a book about faith but it’s not strict or in any sense sectarian or specific” (“Bono reveals the Bible translation he reads to his children,” Christian Post, May 21, 2019). This is Bono Christianity, and it is the Christianity of the vast majority of “evangelicals” today, which is why Bono is a modern hero of the faith even though he does not give evidence of biblical regeneration in his beliefs and rock & roll lifestyle. The late Eugene Peterson was a universalist who worshiped a false god of his own making, a promoter of Catholic contemplative mysticism, and this is reflected in The Message. It is not God’s Word; it has no sense of absolute truth and has zero convicting, sanctifying power. It says everything and nothing. Peterson took the Word of God and bent it like a nose of wax. The Message is the Bible of end-time, New Age Christianity. Consider a couple of examples: “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule” (The Message, Matthew 5:3). “Jesus said, You’re not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation--the ‘wind hovering over the water’ creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life--it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom” (The Message, John 3:5).

MEGACHURCH’S BEATLES CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
(Friday Church News Notes, January 3, 2020, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
In the most recent example of how a worldly love for rock & roll makes professing Christians absolutely nutty, Community Christian Church of Naperville, Illinois, has put the Christmas story to Beatles music. The pageant is entitled “Let It Be Christmas: The Gospel according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, George and Ringo” (“Beatles Music, Christmas Story,” Religion News Service, Dec. 18, 2019). It was advertised as a “magical mystery tour through the gospels to tell the greatest story of all time, with the greatest music of all time!” The nine shows at the multi-campus church played to sold out crowds. Beatles songs used in the performance include “All My Loving,” “From Me to You,” “We Can Work It Out,” “Taxman,” and “Love Me Do.” The Trinity is blasphemously depicted as an Engineer, a Carpenter, and a Blackbird (the latter is the title of a Beatles’ song). When Mary is informed that she will be the mother of Christ, she dances with the Blackbird. This is the vilest apostasy. The Beatles have done more to further the devil’s program in these last days than any other group. They were doubtless controlled by demons as they captured the affection of an entire generation with their “magical mystery” music and carried millions of young people along on their journey to moral relativism, free sex, unisex, eastern religion, atheism, drug abuse, and rebellion against established order. In his 1965 book, A Spaniard in the Works, John Lennon called Jesus Christ many wicked things that we cannot repeat and he blasphemed the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the song “God” (1970), Lennon sang: “I don’t believe in Bible. I don’t believe in Jesus. I just believe in me, Yoko and me, that’s reality.” Lennon’s extremely popular song “Imagine” (1971) promotes atheism and a global New Age unity. The lyrics say: “Imagine there’s no heaven … No hell below us, above us only sky … no religion too/ You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one/ I hope some day you’ll join us, and the world will live as one.” How many millions of people throughout the world have followed John Lennon in this delusive dream? Death will prove that this “dream” is actually the most horrible nightmare imaginable. George Harrison was a Hindu to the day of his death and led many into this pagan darkness. As of April 2009, the two surviving Beatles headlined a benefit concert to promote Transcendental Meditation (TM) among children. “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” (Ephesians 5:11).

HILLSONG CLAIMS OVER 20 DENOMINATIONS REPRESENTED AT ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE
(Friday Church News Notes, January 3, 2020, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
In the advertisement for its 2020 conference, Hillsong Australia claims that over 20 denominations are represented at its annual conferences, including Anglican, Apostolic, Baptist, Brethren, Catholic, Church of Christ, Assemblies of God, Foursquare, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Seventh day Adventist, and Uniting. Latter Rain ecumenism is a major Hillsong theme, one of the most prominent producers of contemporary worship music. The goal is to unite “the greater church” for the expected “latter rain” miracle revival outpouring. This is a heresy nowhere taught in Scripture. New Testament prophecies of the end of the church age describe terrible apostasy, not revival. See 2 Timothy 3:1-5; 4:3-4, for example. The “signs and wonders” that are described for the end of the age are not true apostolic signs as per 2 Corinthians 12:12. Rather, they are false signs. See Matthew 24:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:9. Hillsong’s “signs” are such things as gibberish tongues, failed prophecies, spirit slaying, holy laughter, shakings, electric shocks, word-faith confessions, and failed healings, none of which do we see in the ministry of Jesus, Paul, Peter, James, John, or Jude. Hillsong’s annual conferences are party extravaganzas that breathe of worldliness rather than biblical holiness and the fear of God. Take away their rock & roll, and there would be nothing left. In 2020, Hillsong Australia’s conference is scheduled for the Qudos Bank Arena, the largest entertainment arena in Australia. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (2 Timothy 4:3-4). (For more about Hillsong, see “Darlene Zschech and Hillsong” in the Directory of Contemporary Worship Musicians, available as a free eBook at www.wayoflife.org.)

"CHRISTIANITY TODAY" EDITOR CALLING FOR TRUMP’S IMPEACHMENT CALLED GOD
A “DIVINE DRAMA QUEEN”
(Friday Church News Notes, January 3, 2020, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -
The following is excerpted from “Christianity Today Editor-in-Chief,” worldviewweekend.com, Dec. 20, 2019: “My late friend Vic often referred to Christianity Today as ‘Christianity Astray.’ Indeed it is. ... The Christianity Today article [by editor-in-chief Mark Galli] has also been the topic on almost all liberal news outlets such as CNN. ... what most Americans and Christians may not know is that back in 2010 Mark Galli wrote what can only be described as heretical and blasphemous. While the article was removed by Christianity Today, the place holding of the article page still exists along with a note by Galli stating that the article has been removed because apparently most Christians have missed the point of his blasphemous article. ... My friend T.A. McMahon wrote an article about Galli’s blaspheming of God on August 1, 2010 ... All of this leads us to Christianity Today's senior managing editor, Mark Galli, and his article of July 15, 2010, titled ‘Divine Drama Queen,’ which is his characterization of the God of the Bible. ... What Galli has written is CT’s latest installment of corrupting the faith, generated from decades of undermining the Word of God and distorting the God of the Bible. ... Gallie: ‘I like a tranquil, even-keeled, self-controlled God. A God who doesn't fly off the handle at the least provocation. A God who lives one step above the fray. A God who has that British stiff upper lip even when disaster is looming. When I read my Bible, though, I keep running into a different God, and I’m not pleased. This God says he “hates” sin. Well, he usually yells it. Read the prophets. It’s just one harangue after another, all in loud decibels. And when the shouting is over, then comes the pouting. ... Take his conversation with Hosea. ... This God is like the volatile Italian woman who, upon discovering her husband’s unfaithfulness, yells and throws dishes, refuses to sleep in the same bed, and doesn’t speak to him for 40 days and 40 nights. ... We may think this a crude depiction, except that Jesus—God with us—seems to suffer the same emotional imbalance. He rants about Pharisees and Scribes—or “snakes” and “hypocrites,” as he calls them. So upset is he over sacrilege in the Temple, he overturns tables and drives people out with a whip. ... This God knows nothing about being a non-anxious presence. This is a very anxious God, indeed. ... I’d rather have a God who takes sin in stride. Why can’t he relax and recognize that to err is human. I mean, you don’t find us flawed humans freaking out about one another’s sins. You don’t see us wrathful, indignant, and pouting. Why can’t God almighty just chill out and realize we’re just human? ... It’s that little phrase, “we’re just human,” that may be the rub with God. Sin seems to be a big deal to God because apparently we’re a big deal to him. ... I much prefer reasonable religion with reasonable expectations, and a God who doesn’t get bent out of shape every time his people trip up. But then again, I don't love as God loves. Not God. Not others. Not myself.’ T.A. McMahon: ‘So, are we to suppose that Galli was just trying to get our attention with his blasphemies for effect? Did we misunderstand Galli’s “literary cleverness”? No. What he paraded before us was a mockery of God akin to what Jesus suffered from those who gathered to watch Him being crucified and to what every God-hating humanist has since voiced.’”

He's like the crazy uncle in the family. At some point, you have to let your friends know about him, but you'd just as soon avoid having to introduce him ...
He's such a drama queen."

The Death of Soleimani and Trump's Nationalist War on Islamic Globalism!!!

★★★ A NEW CONSERVATIVE AGE IS RISING! ★★★
Has president Trump just struck Islamic globalism at its heart? That’s something we need to consider very seriously here as we think through the implications of the death Iran’s chief military commander Qasem Soleimani. I know a lot of people are out there saying that this strike ordered by President Trump was the revenge of the neo-cons, Trump is finally being pushed into another pointless war in the Middle East, but I think that’s a bit short-sighted; I think something far bigger is actually going on here that’s fully consistent with President Trump’s nationalist populist worldview. I think we may in fact be seeing a nationalist strike at the very heart of an alternative globalism that may prove Trump to be even more historically significant than we ever imagined.
This new special edition of The Glazov Gang presents the Daniel Greenfield Moment with Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Fellow at the Freedom Center and editor of The Point at Frontpagemag.com.

Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, head of the elite Quds Force, was killed early on Friday in a US air strike on his convoy at Baghdad International Airport, the Pentagon said.
Top Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was also killed in the attack, a militia spokesman said.
“This strike was aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
Iran‘s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed in a statement that Soleimani was killed.
Ahmed al-Assadi, a spokesman for Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), the umbrella grouping of Iran-backed militias, blamed the United States and Israel.
“The American and Israeli enemy is responsible for killing the mujahideen Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Qassem Soleimani,” he said.
Strikes had been carried out against two targets linked to Iran in Baghdad on Thursday, US officials earlier told Reuters.
Iraqi paramilitary groups said on Friday that three rockets hit the airport, killing five members of Iraqi paramilitary groups and two “guests.”
The rockets landed near the air cargo terminal, burning two vehicles, killing and injuring several people.
Local militia commander Abu Muntathar al-Hussaini told Reuters:
“Haj Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were riding in one vehicle when it was struck by two successive guided missiles launched from an American helicopter while they were on their way from the arrivals hall on the road that leads out of Baghdad Airport.”
He said the second vehicle was carrying bodyguards from the PMF and was hit by one rocket.
“The American criminals had detailed information on the convoy’s movements.”
Oil prices were up $2 on the news.
The high-profile assassinations are seen as a massive blow to Iran, which has been locked in a long conflict with the United States that escalated sharply last week with the storming of the US embassy perimeter in Iraq by pro-Iranian militiamen following an American air raid on an Iraqi Shi’ite militia.
Soleimani, who has led the foreign arm of the Revolutionary Guards and has had a key role in fighting in Syria and Iraq, acquired celebrity status at home and abroad.
He was instrumental in the spread of Iranian influence in the Middle East, which the United States and Tehran’s regional foes Saudi Arabia and Israel have sought to keep in check.
He survived several assassination attempts against him by Western, Israeli and Arab agencies over the past two decades.
Soleimani’s Quds Force, tasked with carrying out operations beyond Iran‘s borders, shored up support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad when he looked close to defeat in the civil war raging since 2011 and also helped militiamen defeat Islamic State in Iraq.
Soleimani became head of the Quds Force in 1998, a position in which he kept a low profile for years while he strengthened Iran‘s ties with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government and Shi’ite militia groups in Iraq.

Bye Bye Suleymani

Trump takes out Iran's terror-meister
BY KENNETH R. TIMMERMAN
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research
purposes:
The killing of Iranian terror-meister Qassem Suleymani in a targeted U.S. air strike in Baghdad on Thursday will have a dramatic impact on Iran’s ability to conduct oversea terrorist operations and the stability of the Iranian regime.
But the real impact, one can legitimately wager, will be quite different from what you’ve been hearing so far from most of the U.S. and international media.
Rather than engendering some massive Iranian “retaliation,” as many talking heads have been warning, I believe this strike will throw the Iranian regime back on its heels, as wannabe successors contemplate their careers vaporizing in a U.S. drone strike and Iran’s civilian leaders fret that they have been exposed as emperors without clothes.
Put simply, the aura of the Iranian regime’s invincibility is over.
They have pushed us and our allies repeatedly, and have been encouraged by the modest response from U.S. political and military leaders until now.
But with this strike, the gloves are off. And the leadership in Tehran – and more importantly, the people of Iran – can see it.
Suleymani was not some run-of-the-mill terrorist. He was worst of the worst; a man with more blood on his hands than even Osama bin Laden. Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Afghanistan, 9/11, Benghazi: all of them were his doing.
But he was also the most respected and the only charismatic military leader to have emerged since the 1979 Islamist revolution in Iran.
No other leader in Iran today even comes close to Suleymani for sheer star power.
This is a huge loss for the Tehran regime; bigger, indeed, than if the Supreme Leader himself (who actually is a nobody) died or was killed.
I’ve been watching the Iranian regime for 40 years. The only military leader who even comes close to Suleymani was the former commander of the Revolutionary Guards Corps, Mohsen Rezai.
Rezai was respected because he was a man of the troops. He respected his men. He refused to throw them into combat for purely political purposes, as his political masters repeatedly demanded during the bloody eight-year Iran-Iraq war.
And because of his loyalty to the troops, many of his troops and commanders remain loyal to him even today, more than twenty years after he resigned as IRGC commander.
But Rezai failed miserably when he entered the political arena as a presidential contender, failing in three attempts to break ten percent. He never had the star power that Suleymani engendered – not from lack of trying.
We have two historical parallels to compare to Thursday’s events: Operation Praying Mantis in April 1988, when U.S. naval forces sank 1/3 of the Iranian navy in a matter of hours after repeatedly catching them dispersing naval mines against international oil tankers in the Persian Gulf; and the presumed Israeli assassination of Iranian-Lebanese terrorist Imad Mugniyeh in Damascus in February 2008.
In both cases, we were told Iran and their proxies were going to counter-attack with devastating lethality. Hundreds of Americans and Israelis were going to die. Thousands! The entire region was going to explode.
In the end what happened? Absolutely nothing.
That’s what I predict here as well.
The Iranians have been lulled into thinking they can act with impunity in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere.
Finally, the United States has drawn a firm hard line on their bad behavior.
This is exactly what we needed to do.
I believe the Iranian people will draw the obvious conclusion that this once powerful regime has feet of clay. Expect bigger anti-regime protests inside Iran in the coming weeks, and popular revolts against Iranian interference in Lebanon and Iraq as well.
To me, the biggest question remains: is President Trump ready for the revolution he has unleashed? With this single act, the United States has set in motion big historical forces for positive change. Are we prepared to help the forces of freedom against tyranny and oppression? NYC: MUSLIM SCREAMING "ALLAHU AKBAR" ATTACKS JEWISH WOMAN ON SUBWAY;
DA DECLINES TO PROSECUTE AS HATE CRIME

Why is there a spate of anti-Semitic in New York City these days? One reason is because authorities are resolutely looking the other way and protecting the perpetrators.
“Manhattan DA Declines to Prosecute Anti-Semitic Attack as Hate Crime,” by Adam Kredo, Washington Free Beacon, January 2, 2020:
The Manhattan district attorney’s office has declined to prosecute a recent anti-Semitic attack on a Jewish subway passenger as a hate crime, according to lawyers representing the victim.
Lihi Aharon, an Israeli student riding the New York City subway in December, was attacked by another passenger who cursed at her and yelled “Allahu akbar!” While the attack on Aharon seemed to be motivated by anti-Semitic animus, the Manhattan DA informed lawyers representing Aharon on Thursday that it would not prosecute the case as a hate crime.
The incident is one of several recent anti-Semitic attacks around New York City that have sparked a nationwide conversation about the resurgence of anti-Semitism in America….
Aharon and a Jewish man she was riding with were attacked after another passenger heard them conversing in Hebrew and saw the man was wearing a yarmulke, according to the victim.
“As soon as I sat, that woman started cursing and yelling at him about him being a Jew and ‘Allahu akbar’ and how Allah will end us all,” Aharon said in a video she posted online following the attack.
The Manhattan DA decided not to prosecute the attack as a hate crime, or to present the case to a grand jury to decide whether it meets the legal threshold for a hate crime.
Aharon expressed surprise about the decision, particularly in light of similar attacks in the city.
“I was physically attacked and verbally assaulted for being a Jew,” Aharon said in a statement provided to the Free Beacon. “I was called a ‘nasty Jew.’ I was assaulted. And I am one of the lucky ones. So many people in my position, who have faced Jew hatred and anti-Semitic violence, have suffered far worse than I have.”…

COLLEGES DUPE PARENTS & TAXPAYERS

COLLEGES DUPE PARENTS & TAXPAYERS
The high cost of "diversity" being the highest goal of higher education
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research
purposes:
Colleges have been around for centuries. College students have also been around for centuries. Yet, college administrators assume that today's students have needs that were unknown to their predecessors. Those needs include diversity and equity personnel, with massive budgets to accommodate.
According to Minding the Campus, Penn State University's Office of Vice Provost for Educational Equity employs 66 staff members. The University of Michigan currently employs a diversity staff of 93 full-time diversity administrators, officers, directors, vice provosts, deans, consultants, specialists, investigators, managers, executive assistants, administrative assistants, analysts and coordinators. Amherst College, with a student body of 1,800 students employs 19 diversity people. Top college diversity bureaucrats earn salaries six figures, in some cases approaching $500,000 per year. In the case of the University of Michigan, a quarter (26) of their diversity officers earn annual salaries of more than $100,000. If you add generous fringe benefits and other expenses, you could easily be talking about $13 million a year in diversity costs. The Economist reports that University of California, Berkeley, has 175 diversity bureaucrats.
Diversity officials are a growing part of a college bureaucracy structure that outnumbers faculty by 2 to 2.5 depending on the college. According to "The Campus Diversity Swarm," an article from Mark Pulliam, a contributing editor at Law and Liberty, which appeared in the City Journal (10/10/2018), diversity people assist in the cultivation of imaginary grievances of an ever-growing number of "oppressed" groups. Pulliam writes: "The mission of campus diversity officers is self-perpetuating. Affirmative action (i.e., racial and ethnic preferences in admissions) leads to grievance studies. Increased recognition of LGBTQ rights requires ever-greater accommodation by the rest of the student body. Protecting 'vulnerable' groups from 'hate speech' and 'microaggressions' requires speech codes and bias-response teams (staffed by diversocrats). Complaints must be investigated and adjudicated (by diversocrats). Fighting 'toxic masculinity' and combating an imaginary epidemic of campus sexual assault necessitate consent protocols, training, and hearing procedures — more work for an always-growing diversocrat cadre. Each newly recognized problem leads to a call for more programs and staffing."
Campus diversity people have developed their own professional organization — the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education. They hold annual conferences — the last one in Philadelphia. The NADOHE has developed standards for professional practice and a political agenda, plus a Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, which is published by the American Psychological Association.
One wonders just how far spineless college administrators will go when it comes to caving in to the demands of campus snowflakes who have been taught that they must be protected against words, events and deeds that do not fully conform to their extremely limited, narrow-minded beliefs built on sheer delusion. Generosity demands that we forgive these precious snowflakes and hope that they eventually grow up. The real problem is with people assumed to be grown-ups — college professors and administrators — who serve their self-interest by tolerating and giving aid and comfort to our aberrant youth. Unless the cycle of promoting and nursing imaginary grievances is ended, diversity bureaucracies will take over our colleges and universities, supplanting altogether the goal of higher education.
"Diversity" is the highest goal of students and professors who openly detest those with whom they disagree. These people support the very antithesis of higher education with their withering attacks on free speech. Both in and out of academia, the content of a man's character is no longer as important as the color of his skin, his sex, his sexual preferences or his political loyalties. That's a vision that spells tragedy for our nation.

Students at Yale University are being encouraged to participate in a variety of programs offered by the Chaplain’s Office, including a weekly “Cookies and Coloring” hour and a campus “Bouncy Castle” during nice weather.
The children’s activities are promoted as opportunities for adult students to relieve anxiety and disconnect from technology at the Ivy League institution.
“Join the Chaplain’s Office for a weekly Cookies and Coloring Study Break on Thursdays from 4-5pm in Breathing Space,” reads the program’s website.
“Take an hour to put down your phone, color (don’t worry there’s no judging your artistic ability), have a freshly baked cookie, and great conversation.”
On the school’s “Bouncy Castle” web page, students are invited to, “Check out our new Bouncy Castle for your anxiety relief needs.”
“Bring a friend and bounce out your stress. We’ll be up around campus when the weather is nice.”
“I would’ve been embarrassed to see this in high school, and this is a university chaplain’s office,” observed one Twitter user. “I could sort of see a social service program where students go play with kids, but this is actually for the adults.”
“At their age, my father faced direct fire from the Vietcong.”
Other programs offered by the Chaplain’s Office include “Do a 180,” through which participants can volunteer at local organizations such as Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS) and the Ronald McDonald House.
Additionally, the “W{holy] Queer” program invites “those of all spiritual persuasions and religious traditions to monthly dinner discussions that explore the intersections of all things queer and religious!”
Yale University, one of the nation’s oldest, was founded by Puritan clergymen who established the college as an institution to educate and train future ministers.

An emergency public service announcement by the people for the people

A few months back, the government of Samoa went into full martial law mode in order to implement mandatory vaccination of its population, going as far as closing off streets, prohibiting vehicles from driving and sending police to conduct door-to-door vaccinations.
After two Samoan children died in June 2018 following MMR injections, the people of Samoa grew distrustful of vaccines, leading globalist front groups to entice the island nation with a $34 million grant encouraging them to carry out the vast vaccination project, as police and media shut down dissenting voices promoting alternative treatments like vitamin A supplements.
In this critical report, Google whistleblower Zach Voorhies breaks down the distressing saga that led to the compulsory vaccination effort, and details how “vaccine shedding” may be responsible for spreading disease from vaccinated people to the un-vaccinated.
