If you do, you’ll probably be like Mark Zuckerberg, who couldn’t quite define what it is, but stands by the principle that he hates “hate speech” nonetheless.

At his hearing, it was agreed that incitement to violence is hate speech, but even here I would disagree. Incitement to violence is incitement to violence. Antifa uses Facebook and Twitter to list names and places of violent protests. They tell their members what sort of weapons to bring and how best to conceal their identities. If incitement to violence is hate speech, then why is this allowed? Next, mention was made of human trafficking as an example of things that social media companies could and should be clamping down on as being hate speech. Again, this isn’t hate speech, it’s the selling and purchasing of human bodies. It’s not hate speech.

Zuckerberg stumbled and sweated, and the best he could proclaim was that he felt it was his duty to create spaces where people felt safe (without realizing that everything is relative and no one feels the same degrees of safety in any one environment or by hearing the exact same words spoken). At this point, he was taken to task and given a vision of a future where his social media platform gets to dictate what people can and cannot say. People who are pro-life, for example, would be punished and would have no voice, because their opinions would be considered to be hateful. He was then given stats that revealed that 40% of Americans under the age of 35 all agreed that saying anything that could possibly hurt another person’s feelings should be censored and punishable. How is any of this possible? Are we all to become mind-readers or walk around tip-toeing on eggshells with only certain words and mannerisms and facial expressions permissible?

Hate is an emotion. Hate away. I hate the left. I hate Islam. I hate the colour magnolia. I’m under no obligation to like or agree with or be in acceptance of anyone or anything on this planet. No obligation whatsoever. I’m free to hate as many people and things as I like. I do, however, have to realize that some speech is libelous if I’m spreading falsehoods about a person whom I hate. There are consequences to people’s actions. Hating is okay; it’s allowed. What’s not okay is violence. If your hatred drives you to violence, then there will be a price to pay, but hating in and of itself is fine. Hatred is a toxic emotion and detrimental to one’s well-being and quality of life, but no one has the right to tell anyone else not to hate.

Criticism. Is this hate speech? Criticism can range from an in-depth review of a Shakespearean play to telling someone that they’re too fat. It should be obvious here that one is an academic pursuit while the other is simply rude, but it’s not hate speech. It’s mocking, it’s insulting, and it can oftentimes be very very funny, especially if accompanied by a meme and directed at a bully.

The words spoken reveal the nature and the character of a person. If someone’s a hater, let them keep talking. Let them reveal their true nature and then simply avoid them. Don’t invite them out to drinks and ignore them at parties. It’s simple. It’s like pressing the mute button or changing the channel on the TV. All opinions are allowed and all voices must be heard.

Sen. Richard Pan is perfectly comfortable with men keeping and bearing arms—as long as they’re sanctioned by the state. He evidently feels the same way about the First Amendment.

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “Any person who operates a social media Internet Web site with physical presence in California shall develop a strategic plan to verify news stories shared on its Internet Web site,” a bill by State Sen. Richard Pan would mandate. “The strategic plan shall include, but is not limited to, all of the following:

“(1) A plan to mitigate the spread of false information through news stories. (2) The utilization of fact-checkers to verify news stories. (3) Providing outreach to social media users regarding news stories containing false information. (4) Placing a warning on a news story containing false information. (c) As used in this section, “social media” means an electronic service or account, or electronic content, including, but not limited to, videos, still photographs, blogs, video blogs, podcasts, instant and text messages, email, online services or accounts, or Internet Web site profiles or locations.”

“Physical presence” implies residency for lone bloggers and independent journalists, and either headquarters or resident representatives for larger concerns. For all but the largest, it could create a regulatory compliance burden that would effectively shut them down, and/or require them to publicly disavow their credibility, effectively issuing a state-mandated “confession” whenever they post unapproved information. The state would presume preemptive powers over the First Amendment and become a bureaucratic equivalent of Star Trek’s Keeper:

“Wrong thinking is punishable; right thinking will be as quickly rewarded. You will find it an effective combination.”

Naturally, media bias against guns and for the engineered cultural terraforming that threatens to politically eradicate “legal” ownership will be the standard for “right thinking” that Pan’s Ministry of Truth will impose. And that’s hardly a surprise, as he’s not only for “sanctuary” and against guns, but he’s the son of immigrants from Taiwan who apparently believes America needs to be more like the place his parent’s fled, at least when it comes to the state maintaining a monopoly of violence. Still, it’s curious that his views on free speech appear to resemble nothing so much as the Great Firewall.

What I call the DSM has been looking for ways to regain its position as information gatekeeper ever since the internet revealed itself to give independents a way to go under, over around or through things the “mainstream” was blocking, ignoring or flat-out lying about. A “progressive” lawyer once even suggested taxing independents as a way to stifle competition, and I wouldn’t rule that out in the future if the powers that be feel like they can get away with it.

As is, we see the “social media” giants, Google and YouTube, Facebook and Twitter colluding in a way that would get antitrust actions filed against any other industry, to marginalize, punish with suspension or “shadow bans,” demonetize and “deplatform” any person or group the Southern Poverty Law Center and its ilk tar as a “hater.” You know, ordinary “red state/flyover” Americans, including “conservative” advocacy groups and activists, independent journalists, and pretty much any citizens who expose the dangers of “progressivism.”

No doubt there are plenty of manipulators and outright liars on the internet, and sorting through what’s real and what’s “fake news” can sometimes make determining truth an undertaking. The flip side to that is in a free and open exchange, our reputations and our credibility are all we have. Get caught being wrong too many times, or flat-out lying, and we can wind up with the politically biased perception of trustworthiness“enjoyed” by “the mass media.”

California has become a bellwether of sorts for political trends likely to migrate to the rest of the country (including excising ideological opponents altogether from the body politic). If the cultural Marxism continues to advance, look for draconian restrictions on speech from the federal government, as we first become more like Canada, Germany or the UK, and then China and beyond.

Pan’s bill is a step in that direction by those who would control all. They're bringing us to the day when they'll have enough political power to pass it and stacked the courts with judges who will rule it “Constitutional.”

That will effectively be tyranny, and ways to resist that are pretty much limited to having the means to say “No” and back that up to where aggressors perceive reasons not to press.

It’s not about guns, it’s about freedom. The old slogan is almost ubiquitous within the gun owner rights advocacy community because it’s true. The defensive capabilities they provide actually keep things peaceable. Just as arms in private hands can deter individual attackers, so too can they work on a societal scale.

The UK’s targeting of homeschooling is about promoting the British government’s vision of “multiculturalism,” “tolerance,” “diversity” and the hijrah. It has nothing to do with fighting against the inculcation of the jihad ideology or the teaching of the aspects of sharia that contradict Western principles, although that was the impetus for the crackdown.

Requirements that educators promote “British values” defined as “tolerance and respect for others”, and “prepare children for life in modern Britain” have caused some contention, with critics warning that the latter category is being used to penalise schools in rural areas which have been insufficiently ‘enriched’ with ethnic minority pupils.

If Britain was genuinely concerned about the spread of “extremism,” it would crack down instead on madrassas and conduct surveillance on mosques. Instead, it is trampling the rights of Britons who are concerned about state indoctrination of their children with the “new” British value system, which is an odd combination of far-left and sharia values.

Britain already has over 85 sharia courts, and TheCityUK — which represents Britain’s banks and financial institutions — has already been urging the government to legally prioritize Islamic banking ahead of Brexit. The UK also intends to keep up the massive Muslim migrant influx post-Brexit.

Last year, a Jewish school was targeted for failing to adhere to the new British values:

A private Jewish school teaching girls up to the age of eight failed its third inspection for denying pupils “a full understanding of fundamental British values” by failing to teach about homosexuality and gender reassignment.

The UK will continue to trample upon the rights of its citizens as it cracks down on free speech and targets the right of Christian and Jewish parents to teach their children about personal values and freedoms — but it will continue to allow the increasing influence of the sharia.

Tens of Christian schools have been downgraded as a result of the new rules…Education Secretary Nicky Morgan…claimed such schools deny children “the opportunity to flourish in a modern multicultural Britain”.

The government is set to crack down on homeschooling amidst concerns that some out-of-school education settings are failing to promote its liberal definition of “British values”.

Parents who want to homeschool their children could be forced to register with local authorities and be made subject to inspection, according to a government report published Tuesday raising the prospect of prosecution for families which failed to comply.

Seeking views over the next 12 weeks with regards to strengthening regulation around homeschooling, the consultation was launched as part of the government’s “Counter-Extremism strategy to enable intervention in out of school settings”.

Under the proposed regulatory system, any family taking their child out of mainstream schooling in the UK would have to explain their decision and demonstrate that children were being given an appropriate education at home.

The government’s move to crack down on homeschooling comes after schools watchdog Ofsted described the fact that local authorities have no right to investigate whether children are being home-educated as a “loophole” which is exploited by Islamic extremists….

Along with issues such as unsafe premises and inappropriate forms of punishment, the report raised concern over the prospect that children would receive “inadequate preparation … for life in modern Britain” in out-of-school education settings.

Anti-abortion protests largely ignored by mainstream media

Anti-abortion walkouts took place across the country Wednesday, with many college and high school students protesting Planned Parenthood and the murder of innocent children in the womb.

Photos provided by the Students for Life organization show hundreds of pro-life students from over 350 schools in California, Minnesota, New Mexico and other states participated in the demonstration.

Students largely organized the anti-abortion protests after California teacher Julianne Benzel was punished for asking her students to consider whether walkouts would be allowed for issues other than liberal causes.

Rocklin High School student Brandon Gillespie suggested holding a walkout to protest abortion and to highlight the double standard.

Despite the student receiving backlash from administrators and editors of the school paper, he successfully managed to organize a nationwide campaign to, in his words, “honor all the lives of aborted babies pretty much. All the millions of aborted babies every year.”

As noted at Life News, mainstream media coverage of the protests was minimal in contrast with the anti-gun student march held last month.

Some students also claimed they were suppressed by school principals who tried to talk them out of holding walkouts.

“My principal has proposed a compromise, he wants me to meet with the FCA and do a ‘meet at the pole’ at 8:30 so that ‘we don’t disrupt instruction,’” one student told Students for Life. “He also told me it doesn’t need to go to the media (I’ve already made a press release and sent it to local press.”

The Sacramento Bee reports students at Gillespie’s high school were not disciplined for holding the walkout.
