Understanding that judgment comes upon nations that behave as ours, we must have a vigilance to be prepared. We cannot naively believe that all will be as it always has been. An awareness for how our nation has defied God’s sovereignty can give us insights in the ways we will be judged and therefore the ways we should be prepared.

Jonadab is a biblical character that sets a good example for us for preparation in times of judgment. You can read about him in Jeremiah 35. As a compatriot of Elijah in the northern kingdom, he heard the prophecies of coming judgment on the nation. In Jeremiah 35 we learn the ways in which Jonadab prepared his children for the doom that was prophesied. Jonadab’s children herded animals instead of tilling the ground. They lived in tents instead of homes with foundations. And they drank no wine, so as to always be sober. What was the purpose of these rules? When the armies of judgment swept down upon the northern kingdom as Elijah prophesied, Jonadab wanted his posterity to survive it. He wanted them to be able to uproot on a moment’s notice and move south, and not fortify homes and defend tilled fields in the false hope that they would survive the judgment. Hence, the posterity of Jonadab survived the destruction of the northern kingdom, and God praised them for it and set them forth as an example.

How will the United States be judged? One of the reasons God gave for Israel’s destruction at the hands of its enemies is that they worshiped idols and shed innocent blood without doing justice. “Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it” (Ezekiel 36:18). It’s not the shedding of innocent blood that brings God’s wrath upon the land – it’s the shedding of innocent blood without justice. Genesis 9:6, Deuteronomy 21 and Numbers 35 reveals the judgment for blood guilt is abated through justice.

Consider the grave indictment against the United States:

1. 55-60 million preborn children, with beating hearts and measurable brain waves, have been killed by abortion since 1973.
2. Personhood Amendments and abortion bans have failed to pass in many states via legislation and via ballot initiative – Colorado, Mississippi most recently – in large part because of the reluctance of pro-life groups to get behind it.
3. States that have active signature-gathering petitions to end abortion by ballot initiative – Florida, California, and Ohio – have failed to receive the support from pro-life groups necessary to get their bill on the ballot.
4. Most of what is hailed as the best pro-life legislation that has passed over the last four decades are laws that basically say, “Do this, and then you can kill the baby.” Even though these pathetic laws are overturned by the courts, their proponents still believe that states have a duty to comply with lawless judicial decisions.
5. One of the main reasons pro-life leaders prefer to regulation abortion instead of ban it is that they believe the timing is not right for an abortion ban because of the leftward-bent Supreme Court. Their strategy is to do what the courts will allow – even if it means passing laws that justify some abortion. They believe that states have a duty to comply with lawless judicial decisions.

That brings us to another reason God sent judgment on Israel. They “walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel” (2 Kings 17:8). Rather than obey God and protect the innocent within their lawful jurisdiction, states have capitulated to godless and lawless statutes that kill children. Rather than prosecute baby killers, states protected them. And states have done this at the prodding of the church and their leaders.

When pro-lifers permit the shedding of some innocent blood in their pro-life laws, they permit that which God’s law forbids, and they stain our hands with the guilt of innocent blood. The most ominous recurrence in our forty year struggle to end abortion has been the pro-life movement’s passage of laws that, in their wording and regulating of the child-killing, kill some children. Add to that the movement’s repeated endorsement of candidates who believe that some children may be sacrificed in cases of rape, incest, maternal health, and you have a movement who has become an accomplice in the Abortion Holocaust. Some pro-life groups have gone further than simple passing corrupt laws; they even actively oppose abortion bans and Personhood Amendments, as has Ohio Right to Life and the Catholic Conference of Ohio.

Another reason given for judgment in the Ezekiel 36:18 passage is the worship of idols. Over the past four decades, courtrooms, schools, and government buildings have being systematically purged of Ten Commandments monuments, the name of Jesus, and every vestige of our Christian heritage. When a godly man like Navy chaplain Gorden Klingenschmitt was discharged for refusing to cease praying in Jesus’ name, and Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore was expelled from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments monument from the courthouse, Christian leaders were mostly silent. Some dared to condemn them.

Our government has supplanted the worship of the one true God and our Christian heritage from the public square and our nation’s institutions, and states have not resisted. When the judiciary interpreted the First Amendment to mean that they may forbid the “free exercise of religion”, and when they invented a “right to privacy” that justified killing your child, and a “right to equality” that demanded two men have the right to a marriage license, states should have done right within that state’s lawful jurisdiction and resisted them. Instead, states capitulated to these lawless and godless judicial decisions and “walked in the statutes of the heathen” – mostly at the behest of the church and its leaders.

Another way in which we have “walked in the statutes of the heathen” has made headlines this year:

1. Homosexuals by the hundreds of thousands march openly in the streets every year celebrating their lust. In some cities such as Columbus, Ohio, they are half a million strong, the women march topless, and the men are lewd and openly vile in the sight of children, police officers, and dozens of churches who line the parade route celebrating with them.
2. The Supreme Court mandated same-sex marriage in 2015 and those state leaders who previously pioneered state laws forbidding the same have now publicly stated that they will enforce this Supreme Court’s unlawful usurpation of state’s rights.
3. Gay couples have been legally allowed to adopt children.
4. Bakers and photographers have been forced to act contrary to conscience in providing services to these celebrations of abomination, upon pain of fine or prison.

The book of Jude sets forth the example of Sodom and Gomorrah as to what happens to nations that do what we have done. Sudden, massive, catastrophic overthrow and chaos. That’s what we have coming.

Another way in which we have “walked in the statutes of the heathen” is by way of our “unjust weights and measures” via our corrupt monetary system and welfare system. Most are unaware of what the government has done with its subterfuge with the dollar and our nanny state. Our wealth redistribution and corporate welfare is an abomination to God. The Bible says the debtor is a slave to the lender, and our nation has so much debt that we can never repay it. We have bartered away our children’s freedom for our government perks, our Social Security and Medicaid checks, our corporate welfare, our unemployment benefits, our government-controlled healthcare system. The dollar is doomed. We cannot afford our debt. And too much of our people are dependent upon the government for sustenance. This lawlessness foreshadows the way in which God will judge our nation.

Jesus called His church the “salt of the earth”; but rather than preserve divine standards of righteousness and justice in the culture and in government as God calls His church to do, we have “walked in the statutes of the heathen.” Jesus said if the salt lost its saltiness, we would be “be cast out and trodden under the foot of men” (Matthew 5:13). That’s what is going to happen to the salt in the United States.

The larger cities are where most of these abominations are most evident, whether it is gay pride wickedness, abortion clinics, persecution of public proclamations of the Christian faith, or heretical Christian denominations that celebrate sodomy and justify abortion. If the dollar collapses, and the eighteen wheelers stop rolling for a bit, it won’t take long until the most of the population of our cities are starving. How much food does the average family have in their home? Our college students and riot when their teams wins and when their stomachs are full. African American groups in our inner cities loot stores owned by blacks when a black criminal is shot by a white officer. Inner city folks riot when a hurricane comes into town and causes flooding. What are they going to do when their stomachs are empty and they blame the government? When the stores are looted clean and the welfare checks have halted and policemen have retreated for the sake of their own protection, how will people survive?

Violence. “Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you” (Ezekiel 35:6).

In order to be prepared, prayerfully do the following asap:

1. Every family needs at least a year of food. To ensure that it does not go bad, store non-perishable foods like rice, beans, and pasta in mylar bags in five gallon buckets with two oxygen absorbers and a couple bay leaves. Iron the mylar bags to seal them before sealing the lid on the bucket. Put some bottled bullion or seasoned salt or spice in each bag. That will keep for decades. Canned goods with a two-year-shelf life are also good, as long as you’re cycling through it so that none of it goes bad.
2. Since cities may be filled with anarchy, have a get-away place where you can go with your family away from the cities, preferably with two or three other likeminded Christian families. Keep in mind that even small towns are filled with dependence on the state, and people may riot, loot, or steal if times get tough. Get away from the cities and towns.
3. Have enough fuel for your vehicles to reach your destination and back. Make sure you can reach that secluded place without accessing highways or going through cities, which may be chaotic and impassable.
4. Since electricity may not be available, have the means to access clean water at your get-away-place. Generators would only last a couple weeks, and most wells require electricity to pump. An accessible water supply is critical. Solar powered or alternative forms of energy would be a plus if affordable.
5. Rifles, handguns, ammunition, and most importantly, proficiency in shooting them safely. All the preparation in the world does you no good if you cannot defend yourself and your family. Don’t assume you can dial 911 when violence comes knocking close to home. Coordinate with your get-away team so that you all have the same calibers. I recommend, in order of importance:

a. 22 subsonic ammo for rifles/pistols for hunting quietly (no sonic boom as the projectile does not break the speed of sound). Although it is not a good defensive round, it can still kill or injure at close range. Moreover, most of the time a gun is used to stop a crime, it’s not even fired. Just having a gun – even a pellet pistol, or a paintball gun with the orange tip spray-painted black – protects you and your family, for the violent tends to prey on those who cannot defend themselves.
b. 9 mm hollow point ammunition in Glock handguns for close range defense.
c. 223 caliber AR-15s for longer range defense.
d. 308 caliber rifle for the person rotating through your “lookout” 24/7 to watch for intruders.

6. Several vacuum packed non-hybrid seeds for planting in the spring in the view of your “lookout” (so that intruding animals may be shot with pellet rifle or 22 caliber subsonic rifle).
7. A box trailer or some means of transporting supplies to your get-away location.
8. History shows that some are overly anxious at false alarms, and others are naively hopeful that the crisis won’t precipitate even as it begins, and so means of coordinating and communicating (and powering that communication) with your get-away team are a must. CB’s or Ham radios, for example, with an agreed upon time and channel for communicating at the beginning of a crisis, would be helpful.
9. A radio that can operate without electricity would be useful to keep in touch with the outside.

The most important preparation is spiritual. Many abandon their faith when judgment comes on the land. Suffering has a way of separating the wheat from the chaff. Prepare your children to suffer for the kingdom of God. Study the Bible and pray together. Read the martyrs of the ages past, those who suffered and died in nations that were judged as ours will be.

Prepare them to one day lead their communities and their people back to God. If you survive the initial waves of judgment as the children of Jonadab did, then when the dust settles and the Lord so leads, venture back into your communities preparing to lead in establishing law and justice though following God’s Word. There may be vacuums of authority in our cities, and we don’t want to retreat to our hideaways forever. The salt is not designed for the salt shaker. We want to recriminalize abortion and these abominations that bring God’s wrath upon our nation, and rebuild on a foundation that God will bless. If God’s people will establish godly government as the opportunity allows, God may preserve us the tyranny that will surely sweep in anarchy’s wake.

(NaturalNews) The word “terrorist” is a strong adjective used to describe someone or some group that uses violence and fear to pursue a political goal. It is not, however, normally used to describe someone who merely disagrees with a political position.

Nevertheless, Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton thought it was an appropriate descriptor for anyone who disagrees with her over the issue of abortion and the hideous nature of Planned Parenthood’s baby-parts-for-profit schemes that are currently being exposed in a series of videos by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), a pro-life organization.

“Now, extreme views about women, we expect that from some of the terrorist groups,” the former secretary of state said recently at a rally in Ohio. “We expect that from people who don’t want to live in the modern world. But it’s a little hard to take coming from Republicans who want to be the president of the United States. Yet, they espouse out of date and out of touch policies. They are dead wrong for 21st-century America. We’re going forward. We’re not going back.”

One major pro-life organization, however, did not take the insult lying down. Marjorie Dannelfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, characterized Clinton’s comment as “outrageous,” noting that at least half of Americans identify as pro-life.

She ought to be distancing herself

“Hillary Clinton’s outrageous comparison of pro-life Americans to terrorists is a slap in the face to every American — whether Republican or Democrat, woman or man — who value the gift of life and support commonsense limits on abortion. She is shockingly out of touch,” Dannenfelser said in a press release cited by the Washington Free Beacon.

The issue of abortion has been front and center this presidential election cycle due in large part to the exposure of Planned Parenthood’s horrific actions in harvesting and selling baby organs in the name of “science” for as much profitas possible. The videos were made by undercover journalists operating on behalf of the center earlier this year.

Initially, Clinton said nothing about the videos – and she was not hard-pressed to comment about them by the mainstream media – but eventually she was forced to address them when she told a local paper in New Hampshire that the video images were “disturbing.”

However, she later backtracked, using her support for late-term abortion to attack her Republican presidential rivals, a field that is almost universally pro-life. In addition, she has opposed GOP efforts in Congress to cut off taxpayer subsidies to Planned Parenthood, which amount to roughly half a billion dollars annually.

“Over the last few weeks, America’s eyes have been opened to the pain that Planned Parenthood, a top Clinton ally, inflicts on the vulnerable. Graphic undercover videos have revealed Planned Parenthood’s practice of harvesting and vivisecting unborn children and then profiting off of their organs. Rather than defaming compassionate, sensible Americans who want to stop this horror, Clinton ought to be distancing herself from the abortion business,” Dannenfelser said.

Doubling down

Video footage shot by CMP also revealed that the baby organ peddlers and abortionists of PP are huge fans of Clinton.

Cate Dyer, the CEO of StemExpress, a firm that has partnered with about 100 Planned Parenthood clinics to buy and sell aborted fetal organs, told an undercover video team posing as tissue buyers that she has an autographed picture of Hillary Clinton on her desk.

“I’m a huge Hillary fan … she’s getting elected this time. It’s a done deal as far as I’m concerned,” she said in footage obtained exclusively by the Free Beacon.

The Clinton campaign has taken in some $10,000 from Planned Parenthood employees, which is about 20 times more than any other candidate in the crowded 2016 field.

“Doubling down on her support for unlimited abortion on demand, up until the moment of birth, paid for by taxpayers, will not win voters to Clinton’s cause,” Dannenfelser said, noting the results of a recent Marist University poll that found that 84 percent of respondents oppose late-term abortions.

My name is Gianna Jessen, and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to testify here

My biological mother was seven and a half months pregnant when she went to Planned Parenthood, who advised her to have a late-term saline abortion. This method of abortion burns the baby inside and out, blinding and suffocating the child, who is then born dead, usually within 24 hours. Instead of dying, after 18 hours of being burned in my mother’s womb, I was delivered alive in an abortion clinic in Los Angeles on April the 6th, 1977. (See photo of my medical records.) 
My medical records state: “Born alive during saline abortion” at 6 am. Thankfully, the abortionist was not at work yet. Had he been there, he would have ended my life with strangulation, suffocation, or leaving me there to die. Instead, a nurse called an ambulance, and I was rushed to a hospital. Doctors did not expect me to live. I did. I was later diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, which was caused by a lack of oxygen to my brain while surviving the abortion. I was never supposed to hold my head up or walk. I do. And Cerebral Palsy is a great gift to me. I was eventually placed in foster care and later adopted. I forgive my biological mother. Within the first year after my birth, I was used as an expert witness in a case where an abortionist had been caught strangling a child to death after being born alive.
Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, said the following: “The most merciful
thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” – Margaret Sanger,
“Woman and the New Race” Planned Parenthood is not ashamed of what they have done or continue to do. But we will have to give an account as a nation, before God, for our apathy and for the murder of over 50 million children in the womb. Every time we falter in courage as individuals and fail to confront this evil, I wonder how many lives have been lost in our silence, while we make sure we are lauded among men and do not offend anyone? How many children have died, and been dismembered, and their parts sold, for our ego, our convenience, and our promiscuity? How many Lamborghinis were purchased with the blood of innocent children? The blood that cries to the Lord from the ground, like that of the blood of Abel. Not one of them is forgotten by Him.
I would ask Planned Parenthood the following questions:
If abortion is about women’s rights, then what were mine? You continuously use the argument, “If the baby is disabled, we need to terminate the pregnancy,” as if you can determine the quality of someone’s life. Is my life less valuable due to my Cerebral Palsy?
You have failed, in your arrogance and greed, to see one thing: it is often from the weakest
among us that we learn wisdom – something sorely lacking in our nation today. And it is both our folly and our shame that blinds us to the beauty of adversity. Planned Parenthood uses deception, the manipulation of language and slogans, such as “a woman’s right to choose,” to achieve their monetary aims. I will illustrate how well they employ this technique with the following quote:
“The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of
forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.” – Adolf Hitler
We often hear that if Planned Parenthood were to be defunded, there would be a health crisis among women without the services they provide. This is absolutely false. Pregnancy resource centers are located nationwide as an option for the woman in crisis. All of their services are free and confidential, and they can be reached by texting: “HELPLINE” to 313131. There is access to vital exams for women other than Planned Parenthood. We are not a nation without options.
Planned Parenthood receives $500 million dollars of taxpayer money a year, to primarily
destroy and dismember babies. Do not tell me these are not children. A heartbeat proves that. So does 4-d ultrasound. So do I, and so does the fact that they are selling human organs for profit. Do not tell me this is only a woman’s issue. It takes both a man and a woman to create a child. And to that point I wish to speak to the men listening to me: You are made for greatness, not passivity. You were born to defend women and children. Not use and abandon us, nor sit idly by while you know we are being harmed. I am asking you to be brave.
In conclusion, let me say, I am alive because of the Power of Jesus Christ alone. In Whom I live, move, and have my being. Without Him I would have nothing; with Him, I have all.

WASHINGTON — A 38-year-old woman who survived a saline abortion in 1977 shared her story before Congress on Wednesday, speaking out against abortion and Planned Parenthood’s continued slaughter of unborn children.

Gianna Jessen was miraculously born alive at a Los Angeles Planned Parenthood facility after her mother sought an abortion while seven months pregnant. Her mother had been advised to have a saline abortion, which burns the child with a caustic chemical and then suffocates them to death. The dead child is then removed the following day.

“Instead of dying, after 18 hours of being burned in my mother’s womb, I was delivered alive in an abortion clinic in Los Angeles on April the 6th, 1977,” Jessen told those gathered. “Thankfully, the abortionist was not at work yet. During a congressional hearing Wednesday, Jessen, an abortion survivor, shared with members of Congress the heartbreaking story of her own birth — a story that began when her mother, a 19-year-old college student was advised by Planned Parenthood at seven and a half months pregnant to have a late-term saline abortion.

Babies aborted through a saline abortion are slowly burned alive over several days by a toxic solution that is injected into the amniotic fluid surrounding them. The mother is then induced and the baby is usually delivered dead.

But against the nearly insurmountable odds, Jessen was born alive. The abortion wasn’t without its lasting consequences, though, as Jessen was ultimately diagnosed with cerebral palsy caused by a lack of oxygen from the saline.

CHICAGO - BornAliveTruth.org released its second ad today featuring abortion survivor Gianna Jessen responding to Senator Barack Obama’s direct attack on her. See the adhere. Additionally, Focus on the Family Action, a Colorado-based family organization, is kicking off a $500,000 radio ad buy featuring the original Gianna ad revealing Senator Obama’s voting record on born alive infant protections. Gianna’s first ad will air on radio stations across Colorado and the new Gianna response ad will air on TV in Cleveland, and will be featured on TheDrudgeReport.com and at BornAliveTruth.org.

The total ad buy for both radio and TV will be close to $600,000.

Obama’s response spot to the original Gianna ad was filled with false and misleading distortions about Gianna Jessen and Obama’s own voting record against born alive infant protections.

“Senator Obama had the audacity to go after Gianna Jessen, born alive after a failed abortion, and call her and the ad she appeared in ‘a despicable lie,’” said Jill Stanek, executive director of BornAliveTruth.org. “We want to make sure voters are aware of Barack Obama’s extreme stance on abortion and that he voted four times, while an Illinois State Senator, to deny medical care to infants born alive after abortions.”

Gianna Jessen is the first abortion survivor to appear in a political issue advocacy ad.

In her second ad, a 30-second spot, Gianna addresses Obama’s attacks and says that she has, in fact, dealt with worse: she survived an abortion. The full text of the ad is below:

“Seen this ad? In it, Senator Obama personally attacks me. I’ve dealt with worse; I survived an abortion. State Senator Barack Obama voted 4 times against laws to protect babies who survive abortions. Meanwhile, U.S. Senators voted 98-0 for Born Alive Infant Protections. Senator Obama says deciding when babies get human rights is above his pay grade. Tell him abortion survivors deserve legal protections too.”

Senator Obama has attempted to cover up his abysmal voting record, saying that there were already protections in Illinois state law for babies born alive after abortions. However, existing laws were inadequate to protect and guarantee immediate medical care to all infants born alive after failed abortions.

“Senator Obama had several chances to close that loophole in Illinois law and give babies, like Gianna, the necessary medical care they need to survive after a failed abortion,” said Stanek. “But he didn’t do it - in fact, he voted against bills to close the loophole. Four times he voted against giving infants who survive abortions their basic human rights.”

OBAMA CAMP ATTACKS ABORTION
SURVIVOR AND TRIES TO SILENCE
HER VOICE

 CHICAGO – BornAliveTruth.org Executive Director, Jill Stanek, today said Barack Obama hit a new low when he not only attacked an abortion survivor in a political advertisement airing in Ohio and New Mexico but then attempted to intimidate television stations airing the ad to take it down.

Senator Obama’s camp aggressively tried to censor abortion survivor Gianna Jessen by issuing threatening letters to television stations demanding that they pull the ad because, they said, it misrepresented Obama’s record,

”It is one thing to debate each other on campaign issues, but Barack Obama audaciously tried to silence and attack a person who survived her abortion after he, as an elected official, voted four times against legally protecting abortion survivors just like Gianna,” Mrs. Stanek said. “If it were up to Barack Obama, Gianna should have been left to die.“

However, by Obama’s own admission and record, when he was an IL state senator, he voted to deny necessary medical care for infants born after an abortion on four different occasions. He claimed at first he would have voted for the federal version of the bill had it been identical to the state version. But, indeed, they were identical as proven by the National Right to Life Committee and confirmed by FactCheck.org.

 “This is not some arcane tax topic or a complicated financial crisis, it is a simple issue – these are babies, living, breathing human beings, who deserve the same rights as the rest of us,” Stanek said. 

Obama’s new ad falsely claims that BornAliveTruth.org is taking his votes out of context when the opposite is true.

“A vote is a vote, you cannot take it out of context,” said Gianna Jessen, the abortion survivor featured in the ad. “Barack Obama voted four times against affording these babies their most basic human rights. I hope that rather than attacking me personally, he will redirect attention to born alive infants and protect their human rights.”

Senator Obama clearly misstated several “facts” in his ad attacking Gianna Jessen. Here are four:

Deception #1: Insinuating the BornAliveTruth.org Gianna ad was issued by theJohn McCain campaign.Truth #1:BornAliveTruth.org's web address was displayed throughout the ad and included a written and audio disclaimer at the end stating that BornAliveTruth was responsible for the ad. McCain had nothing to do with it.

Deception #2:Insinuating journalists were calling BornAliveTruth.org's Gianna ad "one of the sleaziest ads... ever seen" and "truly vile." Truth #2: Close scrutiny of the dates of those charges reveal they were actually leveled against McCain's ad criticizing Obama's support of comprehensive sex-ed for kindergartners in a Time magazine article and Washington Post story, both written on September 10, 2008, days before the Gianna ad began airing.

Deception #3: Obama stated in the ad he “has always supported medical care for infants.” Truth #3: Obama voted four times against the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act. In fact, Obama voted against the identical version of Born Alive in Illinois on March 13, 2003, that passed unanimously on the federal level.

Deception #4: The Obama ad pulled a quote ("None of those who voted against SB-1082 favored infanticide.") from a September 5, 2008, Chicago Tribune letter to the editor by former state Sen. Rick Winkel, who sponsored Illinois’ Born Alive Act in 2003.  The Obama ad stated, "... accusing Obama of letting infants die? It's a despicable lie. Even the bill's Republican sponsor said it's untrue."
Truth #4: Obama took Winkel’s statement out of context. Winkel said, in full, “None of those who voted against SB-1082 favored infanticide. Rather their zeal for pro-choice dogma was clearly the overriding force behind their negative votes rather than concern that my bill would protect babies who are born alive.”

IN NEW AD: ABORTION SURVIVOR PLEADS WITH
SENATOR OBAMA

Abortion survivor Gianna Jessen contrasts her struggle for life as a newborn with Barack Obama’s four votes opposing protections for babies born from failed abortions

Washington, DC – For the first time ever, an abortion survivor is featured in a new advertisement released today which takes issue with Senator Obama’s four votes against born alive protections when he was an Illinois state senator. The 30-second spot showcases Gianna Jessen, who explains to viewers that she survived an abortion attempt 31 years ago. Jessen then highlights Barack Obama’s four votes against the Illinois Born Alive Infant Defined Act, and asks him to support protections for infants who, like her, are born alive from failed abortion attempts.

Legislation identical to the proposed Illinois law was passed by the U.S. Senate (before Obama became a US Senator) by a vote of 98-0. This included even the most adamant pro-choice Senators.

“If Senator Barack Obama’s position against born alive protections were in place when I was born, I would not be here today. Senator Obama had the opportunity four times to vote to protect infants born from failed abortions and he chose not to. By voting against these protections, he was basically denying these living, breathing babies their most basic human right,” Jessen said.

In the ad, available online at www.BornAliveTruth.org, Jessen asks:


“Can you imagine not giving babies their basic human rights, no matter how they entered our world? My name is Gianna Jessen, born 31 years ago after a failed abortion. I’m a survivor, as are many others…but if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn’t be here. Four times, Barack Obama voted to oppose a law to protect babies left to die after a failed abortion. Senator Obama, please support born alive infant protections. I’m living proof these babies have a right to live.”

“I want people to understand that there are babies born from failed abortions. No matter how they came to us, these babies are living and breathing human beings and deserve the same protections as the rest of us. Unfortunately, Barack Obama voted four times against affording these babies their most basic human right. I don’t trust Senator Obama on this issue given he voted against these protections four times as a state Senator. Just as abuse victims or rape victims share their stories to educate the public, fight for the common good and hope that as a result politicians do what’s right, I felt it was important to come forward and give these new born babies a voice,” Jessen concluded.

Senator Obama's Voting Record



As an Illinois State Senator, Barack Obama opposed the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act. The legislation defined any infant born alive as a "person” who deserves full legal protection.

The Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act was modeled after the federal version, with the identical definition of “born alive.” The World Health Organization created this definition in 1950. The United Nations adopted it in 1955.

Obama actively opposed the legislation in the Illinois State Senate. In 2001, he voted no in committee, spoke against it on the Senate floor, and voted present on the floor. In 2002, he voted no in committee, spoke against it on the Senate floor, and voted no on the floor. Obama was the sole senator to ever speak against it on the Senate floor.

The U.S. Senate passed the federal bill unanimously, with Senators Barbara Boxer and Ted Kennedy speaking in support of it.

The pro-abortion group NARAL expressed neutrality on the federal bill. On August 5, 2002, President George W. Bush signed it into law.

For four years Obama has said he would have supported the federal version, but that simply isn’t true. In 2003, as chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee, Obama voted yes on an amendment that made the Illinois version identical to the federal one. However, he then voted no on the amended bill.

(Note the first vote under “DP#1” or “Do Pass Amendment #1” was to allow the amendment to be added, making this bill identical to the federal Born Alive bill. The second vote under “DPA” or “Do Pass as Amended” was on the bill as amended. Obama voted to amend the bill and then voted against the amended bill.)

It has been speculated that the IL Born Alive bill became unnecessary after passage of the federal bill. This is not true.

The federal legislation was focused on Federal laws only, ensuring that for purposes of federal law, the terms “human being,” “person,” “child,” and “individual” include all born alive infants. The Illinois statute ensures that the same is true for purposes of Illinois law. The two bills are complementary, and the Illinois legislation was necessary to ensure that born alive infants in IL and not at a Federal hospital were fully protected under Illinois law.

Congress Discusses Planned Parenthood Baby Whose Face Was Cut Open with Scissors to Take Out Brain

WASHINGTON — A baby who survived an abortion as his heart continued beating, but was soon murdered alive as his face was cut through with scissors to harvest his brain, was mourned by an Arizona Congressman during a hearing on Wednesday regarding Planned Parenthood’s alleged harvesting and sale of the organs of aborted babies.

During his opening comments for the hearing, Rep. Trent Franks (R) relayed testimony from one of the most gruesome Planned Parenthood expose’ videos released to date.

“One of these videos describes an incident where one of [StemExpress’ employees procuring organs from babies at Planned Parenthood] calls one of the younger employees over to witness something that was ‘kind cool,’—that one of the baby’s hearts was still beating,” he explained. “The older employee then said, ‘Okay, this is a really good fetus, and it looks like we can procure a lot from it. We’re going to procure a brain.”

“And then using scissors, together the two employees, starting at the baby’s chin, cut upward the center of this child’s face and pulled out the baby’s little brain and placed it in a container, where it could later be sold,” Franks continued.

He then appeared to hold back tears as he reflected on the brutality of abortion.

“Mr. Chairman, I find this so crushingly sad that the only time this little baby was ever held by anyone in his short life was by those who cut his face open and took his brain,” Franks said. “Have we forgotten that it was not so long ago that authorities entered the clinic of Dr. Kermit Gosnell?”

“And yet the president of the United States of America and many members of Congress have not uttered one single syllable against these gut-wrenching atrocities of Kermit Gosnell or Planned Parenthood. Is this who we truly are?” he asked.

“[Abortion] is the worst human rights atrocity in the history of the United States of America,” Franks proclaimed.

He then chastised his fellow Congressman who would characterize abortion as a choice.

“I know that many of you on this committee will hold to the standard line and try to cloak all of this in the name of freedom of choice, but I beg you to open your own hearts and ask yourselves: What is so liberating about brutally and painfully dismembering living helpless little human babies?” Franks said with emotion.

“In spite of all the political noise, protecting these little babies and their mothers is not a Republican issue, and it is not a Democrat issue,” he declared. “It is a basic test of our humanity and who we are as a human family.”

Wednesday’s hearing also included testimony from abortion survivors Melissa Ohden and Gianna Jessen, both of whom survived saline infusion abortions in 1977.
