Proclaim 19

First she’s there; now she’s gone, or is she? New Age sympathizer Roma Downey was scheduled to speak at the National Religious Broadcaster’s 2019 convention, Proclaim 19. Sharing the docket with her are highly popular evangelical names like John MacArthur, Rick Warren, Greg Laurie, and Kirk Cameron. Lighthouse Trails reported on the story with the release of Greg Reid’s booklet, Butterfly Illusions (which unveils the strong New Age messages in Roma Downey’s new book, Box of Butterflies).

Shortly after the release of the booklet, Lighthouse Trails learned that Roma Downey’s name (along with her husband Mark Burnett) had been removed from the speakers list for Proclaim 19. Calls to the NRB office in Washington, DC by Lighthouse Trails editors provided no answers as to why Downey’s name was gone other than being told “it has not yet been decided” if she will be speaking there. As has been the “normal” protocol for Christian leaders when they get challenged, there is just dead silence from NRB as well as from the evangelical figures who are involved. But new information about Roma Downey’s beliefs will hopefully prompt NRB and Christian leaders to be responsible and do the right thing.

God “In” Everyone and Everything?

The crux of the New Age is not Ouija boards and Tarot cards but rather is the foundational belief that God is “in” everyone and “in” everything. It is the prevailing doctrine throughout all New Age teachings as well as the root of mystical meditation. To believe that God is in everyone and in everything is to ultimately reject the Cross (whether one realizes that or not). If God is in everyone, then there would have been no reason for Jesus Christ to go to the Cross as a substitute for humanity’s sins because we would already be divine and not need a Savior. That is why one prominent New Age leader quoted his “God” as saying, “the era of the Single Savior is over”1 (because we are all Saviors). It would stand to reason that Christian teachers and pastors who profess to know God’s Word and His ways would easily recognize the contrast between New Age spirituality and biblical Christianity. But in the case of Roma Downey and today’s Christian leaders, this is not so.

For many years now, Roma Downey has consistently and publicly shown herself to be strongly aligned with the New Age. Her long-time spiritual mentor was New Age/New Thought pastor and teacher Della Reese whom Downey considered to be a mother figure. Downey then attended and, in 2010, graduated from the University of Santa Monica (one of the most popular New Age schools in the world). And she favorably quotes the school’s New Age leader and founder, the late John-Roger2 (who claimed he was inhabited by the “mystical traveler consciousness”).  Shortly after her graduation from USM, Downey came on the evangelical Christian scene (calling herself a devout Catholic), producing Bible-story movies and being wholeheartedly welcomed by numerous Christian celebrities (see some photo examples below) including Rick Warren, David Jeremiah, Greg Laurie, Samuel Rodriguez (she wrote the foreword to his 2017 book, Be Light), and Joel Osteen. And now, most recently, her open-armed welcome to speak at Proclaim 19 with John MacArthur, Rick Warren, Greg Laurie, and Kirk Cameron.

Christian Leaders Say Nothing

Until concern was issued by Lighthouse Trails and others, none of the men listed above had any apparent problem with being associated with Roma Downey. But do they even know or care about what she believes? Or have they just benefited from their association with her and ignored what she really stands for? (After all, she has gained the affection and following of millions and millions of people since her Touched by an Angel days—those associating with her would clearly glean from her substantial popularity.) On this point (i.e., the motives of the leaders), we can only speculate. But on the issue of Roma Downey’s New Age beliefs, we can know this for sure. For example, on two different interviews, one in 2012 (during the making of The Bible series) and one in April 2018, Downey stated that she believes God is “in” everyone and everything. (See videos below.) And as Greg Reid shows in his booklet Butterfly Illusions, Downey’s new book Box of Butterflies echoes this same message that God is in everyone by stating that separation is an illusion.3 Reid confronts Christian leaders (many of whom gave their hearty endorsements for Box of Butterflies) for not being more discerning and also for not correcting Roma Downey and her husband about their New Age beliefs and showing them that such beliefs are the antithesis of the message of the Bible and the Gospel, and the two absolutely cannot mix or be joined together. (We must interject here that recently Greg Reid had the opportunity to hand Roma Downey a copy of Warren B. Smith’s biography The Light That Was Dark: From the New Age to Amazing Grace—can Christian leaders say they have done even half that much to point Roma Downey in the right direction?)

In Warren Smith’s own booklet, Be Still and Know That You Are Not God (God is NOT in Everyone and Everything), Smith states:

Our Spiritual Adversary would have everyone believe that we are all “one” because God is “in” everyone and everything. Using every promotional means possible—including a creative and ingenious perversion of quantum physics—he is attempting to convince the world and the church that while Jesus was Christ, so is everyone. And while Jesus was God, so is everyone else. To underscore this heretical New Age doctrine of God and Christ “in” everyone, he would have us further believe that nothing of any significance happened on the Cross of Calvary. However, the Bible makes it very clear that something extremely wonderful and overwhelmingly significant did happen on the Cross of Calvary. For it was on that Cross that Jesus Christ died to save the world as He defeated sin (1 John 2:2), death (2 Timothy 1:10), and the Devil himself (Hebrews 2:14). As the one and only Christ, He is our Rock (1 Corinthians 10:1-4), He is our Foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11), and in every sense of the word He is the Saviour of the world (1 John 4:14).

The tragedy about this situation between Roma Downey and Christian leaders is that the leaders are using Roma Downey, Roma Downey is using the leaders, and our Adversary is using them both—and countless naïve and undiscerning Christians are buying into the whole thing.

Is Roma Downey going to be speaking at Proclaim 19? We don’t know. NRB is saying nothing about the removal of her name except the unofficial comment to Lighthouse Trails that “it has not yet been decided.” We urge NRB as well as John MacArthur, Greg Laurie, Kirk Cameron, and the other leaders to do the right thing—to speak the truth in love to Roma Downey about the dangers of her New Age beliefs that directly contradict the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I walked through the doors of the First Baptist Church in the spring of 1995 after having been somewhat of a prodigal son for roughly 10 years. I had recently rededicated my life to Christ and wanted to once again be a part of a loving church family. As I entered and sat down to the joyful noise of a magnificent choir and orchestra praising God in song, my heart and soul were filled with wonder, excitement and great expectation. I was truly being prepared for worship.

When the preacher finished his sermon, I was spiritually refreshed and energized for the week ahead. His message had been clear, powerful, convicting, biblical and full of the Holy Spirit. Over time I grew to love this brother in Christ because of his faithfulness and passion for the gospel. After visiting the church for some months, I knew I had found a church home.

A couple years later, the pastor invited me to lunch at a nearby country club he frequented where he mentioned in passing his desire to eventually do away with the First Baptist Church name and simply call it “The People’s Church,” claiming “that’s what everyone called it anyway.” Still taken by the man’s persona, I smiled and nodded in approval as he told me of wanting to take the church in “a new direction,” away from the Southern Baptist stigma that he felt had somehow hindered us in the past and move on greater things. Unfortunately, he didn’t elaborate on what that “new direction” was, and I mistakenly assumed he meant toward a non-denominational identity.

In the coming weeks and months a new message began emanating from his pulpit not unlike what had been coming from, of all places, the presidential podium of Bill Clinton during the height of his scandals. A re-occurring theme of “tolerance, diversity and unity” seemed to permeate almost every sermon. It became increasingly clear to me that the pastor’s “new direction” was worldly and that he was now being guided by someone or something other than God. Friction grew between the two of us over the course of time as his sermons turned away from the Gospel that leads to repentance and faith in Christ to the social psychology of get-alongism. Sure, the Bible calls us to live in peace with one another, to keep and maintain healthy relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ, but not at the expense of God. The pastor I once held in such high regard began reciting “group-think” platitudes like: “You can’t be right with God and at odds with everyone else,” meaning it was now time for us all to compromise our conscience and convictions for the collective. This is the “Consensus Process” at work, a 200 year-old socialist brainwashing technique known by social psychologists the world over as the “Hegelian Dialectic,” developed by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel in the late 1700s that involves the practice of compromise to achieve social harmony between opposing groups and/or belief systems. The Hegelian Dialectic is especially damaging to those of the faith who are compelled by the process to accept the unacceptable in order to gain the approval of the group. It is the herd mentality of humanist thinking and an abomination before God.

You see the Bible is full of godly men who stood alone and died fighting the heresy of the herd mentality, including Jesus Himself. Being “at odds with everyone else” is exactly what got Him nailed to a cross! He said: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). This certainly doesn’t bode well for pastors whose primary agenda is church growth and big numbers.

It was not a tolerant Jesus who cleared the temple in Jerusalem of moneychangers with a whip or a tolerant John the Baptist who publicly railed against King Herod for marrying his brother’s wife or a tolerant Paul that stood up against Peter for alienating uncircumcised believers or tolerance that got most of the disciples beheaded or crucified in the early days of the church. Yet, here we are today as a re-invented church of tolerance, diversity, and unity. As the doors are all thrown open to anyone and anything, I ask you, is the church affecting the culture or is the culture infecting the church? Who is proselytizing whom here? Look around and tell me what you see.

It wasn’t long before a vulgar campaign for cash began at The People’s Church as if someone was running for political office, complete with banquets, dinners, awards, lots of flattering speech, testimonials, presentations, private meetings and special attention given to the church’s “big givers,” (their term, not mine) all to benefit a massive new building program that would put us in a high-tech “worship center” and twelve million dollars in debt.

When I walked into that entertainment complex where a sanctuary used to be, I saw a lot of cushioned movie theater seats where pews used to be; a big multi-media projection screen where a wooden cross used to be; a half dozen choreographed entertainers performing to applause where a choir used to be; a jazz/rock band playing solos where an orchestra used to be; a young female singer leading simplistic chants before a confused audience where a music minister used to lead great hymns of worship and praise to God and where a charming “facilitator” in a golf shirt preaches that we should all “go along to get along” where a once humble man of God  used to courageously proclaim the Word of God.

I was once listening to a radio program on the Internet where a former teacher and expert on European history and philosophy by the name of Dean Gotcher was being interviewed about the Hegelian Dialectic or “Consensus Process” and how it has successfully been integrated into the government, the media, the military, law enforcement, public education, colleges, seminaries and even the church to centralize everything and unify us all into the socialist mindset of global governance. The global-socialist goal is and always has been a one-world government and a one-world religion. They have used the Hegelian Dialectic for centuries to control large populations around the world and steer them toward a “New World Order.” Near the end of the hour-long program, the man casually mentioned a couple of Christian organizations that were known for seducing churches into this Consensus Process with “progressive” church-growth programs where compromising brings in big numbers. The temptation of such worldly fruit is obviously hard to resist, even among the most faithful of pastors. Nonetheless, doing unholy things in the name of Christ does not make them holy.

When Dean Gotcher mentioned one of those organizations as being The Willow Creek Association, bells began ringing, lights began flashing, and all of a sudden five years of confusion, contention, and controversy between my pastor and me were instantly brought into complete clarity. Of course! The People’s Church belonged to the Willow Creek Association! Once my eyes were opened to their carnal ways through additional research, combined with all I had learned over the years about global-socialism, I became convinced that we, (the church) had been brought into the Consensus Process by way of a socialistic humanist organization posing as a Christian ministry, complete with “change-agents” and “facilitators” (wolves in sheep’s clothing) that I myself had encountered personally from Sunday School to Sunday worship. Apparently, this was the pastor’s “new direction” for The First Baptist Church. It came as no surprise to later discover that Willow Creek’s founder Bill Hybels was a dear friend and personal minister to the nation’s most renown socialist and “facilitator” at the time, Bill Clinton. Now I knew why my pastor began sounding so “Clintonesque” in his Sunday morning sermons.

As I went on to research The Willow Creek Association, I discovered that thousands upon thousands of established churches around the country were being transformed into sensory driven “seeker churches” exactly like ours under the guidance and direction of this organization, all with the same tolerance, diversity, and unity theme, liberal worship format, scripturally shallow teaching, heavy on the comfort and light on the conscience, equipped with huge multi-media projection screens, large sound systems, exotic music, no choir, female ministers, feelings-motivated skits, dance interpretations, and heavily burdened with millions of dollars of debt from building state-of-the-art entertainment venues they call “worship centers.” The revolving disco ball sparkling overhead at the dedication service was a real poignant moment for me personally.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. (1st John 2:15-17)

Ariana Grande’s God Is A Woman video is full of blasphemous and occultic references.

In one of the most openly blasphemous videos to date, pop star Ariana Grande’s new hit song “God Is A Woman” features the singer disrespecting the Christian faith repeatedly with overtly sexualized lyrics and dancing. The song which is supposedly an ode to female empowerment uses blasphemous lyrics and imagery to promote the false notion that a woman’s power and importance is achieved through fornication and explicit sex appeal.  To the point that if someone were to fornicate with Grande, they would then see her as “god.”  Sadly, millions of people in society are falling for this deception even if it means insulting and attacking the God of the Bible.

An Ode To Fornication

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness…of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” – Galatians 5:19-21

“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – 1 Corinthians 6:18-20.

From the lyrics of the song it is obvious that it is nothing more than Ariana Grande glorifying fornication and inviting the listener to lust for her:

“Boy, I like that you ain’t afraid
Baby, lay me down and let’s pray

I’m tellin’ you the way I like it, how I want it

And I can be all the things you told me not to be
…..
And he see the universe when I’m in company
It’s all in me

You, you love it how I move you
You love it how I touch you
My one, when all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a womanAnd I, I feel it after midnight
A feelin’ that you can’t fight
My one, it lingers when we’re done
You’ll believe God is a woman

I’ll tell you all the things you should know
So, baby, take my hand, save your soul
We can make it last, take it slow, hmm
And I can tell that you know I know how I want it, yuh
But you different from the rest
And boy, if you confess, you might get blessed
See if you deserve what comes next
I’m tellin’ you the way I like it, how I want it…” (source).

With numerous blasphemous references, Ariana Grande compares fornication to prayer and saving one’s soul. And ultimately, fornication with her will lead a man to believe that she is in fact, God.

The repeated message of the God Is A Woman video is that fornication and overt sexuality is the key to power and “godhood.”

The notion of sex magick was popularized by Satanist Aleister Crowley. He referred to fornication as “the supreme magical power.”  The idea that a higher state of consciousness or godhood could be achieved or unlocked by sexual ritual:

“Sex is the supreme sacrament, wherein the body and blood are offered up to the soul. The elements thereof must be worthy, their consecration absolute…”  – Aleister Crowley, The Revival Of Magick.

Crowley was an ardent enemy of the Christian faith and blasphemed The Lord regularly in his writings:
Additionally, Crowley advocated sadistic acts such as child sacrifice (“Magick In Theory And Practice, Chapter XII). The writing of Crowley, particularly his Book of The Law and mantra “Do as thou wilt is the whole of the law” has inspired the entertainment industry for decades. The basic premise is that a person can do whatever they want – exerting their own will on the universe to fulfill their lusts and desires.
Sadly, the entertainment industry has hijacked notion of a positive female identity by promoting sexual promiscuity as the path to true equality. Unashamed fornication and flaunting of sexuality is propped up as being a “strong woman.” Ariana Grande made this clear when asked about the meaning of the video:

“Sex is empowering. It’s the source of all life. P—– is privilege.” (source).

R&B artist Ciara also invoked Crowley with her song entitled “Sex Magic.”


And as previously documented in our article on Ciara promoting satanic and Illuminati-themed clothing, here is the R&B songstress wearing clothing that directly references Crowley:

The video for God Is A Woman is filled with shots Grande in barely any clothes (or naked in body paint) writhing seductively in front of the camera. The Bible warns about the wicked promotion of fornication – something the pop music of today has been built on as numerous mega stars parade around stage in underwear gyrating and making odes to enticing sinful lust in their millions of followers. The book of Proverbs issues several stern warnings:

“To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;  Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.  For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.” – Proverbs 2:16-18
“To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.  Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.  For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.” – Proverbs 6:24-26

‘Ye Shall Be As Gods’ – The Original Deception Of The Devil

Ariana Grande repeatedly portrays herself as a goddess ruling Earth through sinful rebellion.

“Now the serpent was more [subtle] than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” – Genesis 3:1-5

In Genesis 3, Satan was able to deceive Eve into believing that if she disobeyed God and ate from the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil she would be “as gods.”  The entire deception that led to the first sin in human history was premised on the idea that The Lord was withholding hidden “knowledge” from Eve and her husband which could allow them to evolve and transcend their current existence and become godlike. Of course, this turned out to be a lie – rather than becoming like divine beings, Adam and Eve hid in guilt and shame from their disobedience and were banished from the Garden and suddenly acutely aware of their mortality.
Here are just some of the images of Ariana Grande as “God” in her video. Note that the repeated emphasis is that her sexuality is the key to becoming a goddess:

In the image below, Grande appears in the midst of a candle’s flame. Isaiah 14 refers to the Devil as “Lucifer” the “Light Bearer.”

Candle flame is increasingly popular for conjuring spells in Wicca and other goddess-based occult practices.

Candle flames are a major tool in witchcraft, wicca and the occult. And it can even be seen invoked casually in the tradition of making a wish over birthday candles.  As one female-centric witchcraft site states:

“There is something entrancing and mystical about a flame dancing and flickering, moving and swaying with the unseen currents in the air. Fire is what kept your oldest ancestors alive in the harshest environments of early life on Earth. It cleanses, heals, and purifies. Fire gives life, and when you work with candle magic, you invoke the energy of the fire element, combining it with the energy of intention, as well as the element of air. Flames were used in sacred ceremony for as long as we have written record; the Temple of Isis was kept lit around the clock by oil lamps (the predecessor of candles). Once various sources of animal, plant, and insect oils were discovered, candles were created as an alternative to oil lamps in ritual.” (source).

Pagan religions like Wicca have gained a great appeal in recent years as they appeal to feminism and the woman’s rights movement. Just as Ariana Grande promotes fornication, promiscuity and filthy behavior as “empowerment” so too has witchcraft become perceived as a movement for women’s equality and independence. One major newspaper even raised the questions with the headline: “Are Witches The Ultimate Feminists?” (source).

The 2018 VMA Performance – Blasphemy Against The Lord Jesus Christ

Ariana Grande put herself in the position of Jesus Christ in her blasphemous performance at the 2018 MTV VMA awards.

If there were any doubt as to the anti-Christian nature of Ariana Grande’s song, they were removed after her performance at the MTV VMA awards. Grande opened her performance of God Is A Woman with a recreation of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper painting.


And of course Grande was in the center of the table in the role of Jesus Christ while her scantily clad female dancers depicted the disciples. As one article wrote:

“On stage with 50 other female dancers, Grande embodied a Christ-like figure by seating herself at the middle of a long table, leaning against the woman seated to her right. As the song kicked in, Grande and her all-female crew lithely moved from pose to pose. It’s sexy, it’s evocative, and…hands down the most creative and exciting performance of the night. Grande’s number created a message of unity and a goddess-like power of the divine feminine.” (source).

Another article summed up the performance by saying it was “Basically Our New Religion.” (source).
As the song continued the half-naked women started writhing suggestively on the table, provocatively touching themselves and each other. To take a depiction of the Messiah and mock the Christian faith is an insult the extreme. The Bible says of blasphemy:

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7

In the background of the stage were pillars reminiscent of a masonic board or pagan temple. All the while symbols of Kabbalah were emblazoned on a digital screen for the world to see:

The pagan and occult influences in Ariana Grande’s God Is A Woman performance were blatant.

The Kabbalah Connection

Kabbalah, a form of Jewish mysticism, has become wildly popular with the Hollywood entertainers. Ariana Grande is on record stating that she abandoned her Catholic faith and adopted Kabbalah as a teenager because of her brother, who is homosexual:

“Grande was raised a Catholic, but in adolescence began questioning her faith out of love and support for her brother, who is gay. ‘When my brother was told that God didn’t love him I was like, “OK, that’s not cool.” They were building a Kabbalah centre in Florida so we both checked it out and really had a connection with it.’
The Kabbalah movement – Madonna is its most high-profile adherent – ‘sort of stuck with me. And since then my life has unfolded in a really beautiful way, and I think that it has a lot to do with the tools I’ve learnt through Kabbalah, I really do.’
Asked to explain those tools she is hesitant, not to say bashful. But eventually she says that ‘you have to watch your intentions, make sure you’re not giving in to your ego. You have to numb your reactive state. You have the power to change your reality,’ she says, clapping her hands together. ‘You have to take a second and breathe and reassess how you want to approach or react to a situation or approach an obstacle, or deal with a negative person in your space. That takes a lot of self-control and practice and, I guess, willpower,’ she concludes with an embarrassed laugh.” (source).

Kabbalah is very esoteric practice with multiple interpretations. But at its core it is a means of transcending the material world and entering the metaphysical or spiritual realm – the same goal of any form of witchcraft.  In Kabbalistic lore Adam and Eve received special knowledge in the Garden of Eden which they then lost. Kabbalah is a way back to receiving that knowledge. In fact, the main symbol – dubbed The Tree of Life – is a supposed road map back to this:

Pop legend Madonna does a voiceover, based on Ezekiel 25:

“And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my sisters. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

The blasphemous proclamation was a thinly-veiled threat against the Supreme Court and anyone who would oppose abortion – which along with fornication has become a symbol of “women’s empowerment.”

God Is Male – Beware of The End Times Gender Neutral Apostasy

The Bible warns us to not changes its world to fit the tastes or trends of today.

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” – Proverbs 30:5-6.
“And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.” – Jesus Christ, Luke 11:2.
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:” – Hebrews 1:1-3

The Bible is abundantly clear that God is male – Although the Father Is Spirit, and The Holy Ghost Is Spirit, The Lord’s identity is male. When God took on human flesh, He came as a male. Jesus Christ is the “express image” of God.  He is the “fulness of the Godhead bodily.” (Colossians 2:9).
Any teaching to the contrary is not simply Biblical error: it is an assault on the inerrant truth of the Word of God itself.  Satan seeks to confuse and distort God’s Word and message to deceive and alienate as many people from God’s loving salvation as possible. And pop culture stars have been willing servants to the message of the true enemy of humanity. The elevation of female entertainment stars as “divas” – which is another term for goddess, underscores this subtle movement.

The God Is A Woman video emphasizes the use of sexuality to elevate women over men.

Sadly, many churches, pastors and Christian organizations have jumped onto this trend. Beginning And End previously detailed the Church of Sweden’s move to use gender neutral language for God, including referring to the Holy Spirit as a “she” or “sister.” The Episcopal Church is also moving to remove masculine language for God such as “King.” The ‘Our Bible’ app is described as “pro women”, “gay affirming and provides transgender interpretations of Scripture. Recently, the Southern Baptist Convention released the Christian Standard Bible – its own translation which ignores the Greek and Hebrew gender root hundreds of times in favor of inserting gender-neutral language. And of course ignoring the very stern warnings from God forbidding anyone from changing His Word:

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.  Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” – Proverbs 30:5-6.
“Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you.  Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” – Deuteronomy 4:1-2

The Book of Revelation carries an even more dire warning;

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” – Revelation 22:18-19

There is nothing wrong with being a strong, confident woman in Christ.

All these efforts to alter God’s Word in order to fit in with the times open the door for humanity to question, challenge and “reshape” God in the image we see fit. It removes the healthy fear of The Lord all people should have and replaces it with an idol – a re-imagined version of God and the Christian faith that is may be popular and trendy but is altogether apostate. Do not be deceived.
This wrong message has instead led to a generation of young women who have eagerly shed their clothes, gyrated in front of cameras and use their sexuality to attract attention, men, money or fame (or at least attempt) by any means. Rather than being “empowered” they have degraded themselves search for wealth and love in the wrong way. The Bible says:

“Who find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies…Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.   She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.  Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” – Proverbs 31:10; 25-30.

Notice in the passage above what is valued in a woman – virtue. Having Godly traits – kindness, wisdom, honestly, faithfulness, modesty (both inner and outer). All this comes from having a relationship with God. It comes from knowing God’s Word. This is how a strong, empowered woman is described in Scripture. Interestingly, Proverbs 31 includes many references to a Godly woman being industrious, making money and even owning her own business. And it closes with a stern warning: “favour is deceitful and beauty is vain.” Society today preaches the exact opposite: beauty and fame are everything and worst sacrificing everything in your life for – even your very soul. Ariana Grande took it an even more extreme level by elevating fornication into this sinful equation. Do not be deceived.

Pray For Revival

Biblical Christianity has no fear of telling the world the truth: we are depraved, fallen sinners who have opposed God in our heart, mind and actions. We are guilty and in desperate need of supernatural intervention to rescue us from a sure sentence of eternity in the Lake of Fire. And God did just that by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. So many women, girls, men and boys alike are looking for love above everything. And God proved His love by sending Christ to stand in our place and take the punishment we rightfully deserve. In Christ not only are we saved from Hell we are freed from a life of bondage to sin.
We have equality in Christ:

“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:27-28

We have acceptance:

 ^“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” – Ephesians 1:6

We have eternal life:

“And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.” – 1 John 2:25

Pray that Ariana Grande, Madonna and the entertainment industry will open their eyes to the truth of God’s Word and repent for their promotion of sinful rebellion. And pray for the many millions of fans of this music and these entertainment stars who have been deceived by their false Gospel. God is real and is Male and will judge all of us. Lord willing the many fans of this song and video will come to know Him and His proven Love.
