The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded nonprofit Achieve Inc. — one of the developers of the Common Core standards— has announced that New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) has joined its board of directors.
“By joining the board, Governor Hassan will help to guide Achieve’s work to lead and support state efforts to improve systems of standards, assessment, accountability, and graduation requirements so that all students are prepared for post secondary education, work, and citizenship,” a press release states.
Achieve’s website points to the nonprofit’s mission of serving as the chief “networker” and organizer for the Common Core initiative:
[T]hrough our networks Achieve convenes not just a cross-section of leaders across states, but also a cross-section of leaders within states, including state K-12 and higher education leadership; policymakers from governors’ offices, legislatures and state boards of education; district leaders; and third-party advocates from business- and community-based organizations. Our expertise in convening state leaders is best evidenced through our work managing the American Diploma Project Network[1], the PARCC consortium [2], and the Next Generation Science Standards [3] development effort.
The PARCC consortium is one of the two federally funded interstate groups developing assessments aligned with the Common Core standards. The Boston Globe admitted in July that the consortium is essentially in a “death spiral,” having dropped from 26 member-states down to likely fewer than 10.
Achieve President Michael Cohen said:
We are delighted to welcome Governor Hassan to the Achieve board. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring that students in New Hampshire gain the knowledge and develop the skills they will need to compete in a global economy. Her experience as a governor and state legislator will be a tremendous asset in Achieve’s work with states to ensure college and career readiness for all students.
Achieve observes that, prior to being elected governor, then-state Sen. Hassan helped to institute universal kindergarten in New Hampshire and reduce the state’s dropout rate by increasing the legal dropout age to 18 and establishing alternative education programs.
“Under Governor Hassan’s leadership, New Hampshire remains committed to raising the bar for its students by ensuring schools have robust college and career readiness standards like the Common Core,” the press release states.
As Breitbart News reported in May, Hassan vetoed a bill that received significant support from her state’s parents that would have prohibited New Hampshire’s Department of Education and State Board of Education from implementing the controversial Common Core standards in any school or school district in the state.
Claiming that the bill would undermine New Hampshire’s ability to maintain a workforce that would allow the state to be economically competitive, Hassan said in a press release, “As this bill has no practical impact, its purpose appears to be that of sending a message, and it is the wrong message. New Hampshire must be clear that it is committed to developing a 21st Century workforce and citizenry, that it welcomes innovation, and that it is modernizing its education system to reflect those values.”
Additionally, in June Hassan vetoed a bill that would have required parents to be notified two weeks prior to subject matter being taught in schools dealing with human sexuality or sex education.
Though the measure had passed both the state House and Senate – mostly along party lines – Hassan said in her veto message, “By imposing inflexible notice requirements on certain curricula, House Bill 332 would be an impediment to an adaptable learning environment, which is critical to helping our students develop the skills and critical thinking necessary for success in the 21st century economy.”
Hassan described the parental notification period that would have been required as “over-burdensome” and one that “could lead to schools avoiding material of merit and historical importance because it could potentially elicit objections and even litigation.”
“Additionally and just as troublesome, this bill aims to put in place additional barriers for New Hampshire students who decide to access education about sexual health,” she continued. “House Bill 332 would create an even greater stigma concerning sex education and lead to fewer students having access to important health information, which can have far-reaching, negative impacts on the health of our young people and communities.”
Ann Marie Banfield, education liaison at New Hampshire’s Cornerstone Policy Research, tells Breitbart News, “New Hampshire is fully invested in facilitating the federal education reforms so it is not surprising that Achieve Inc, funded by the Gates Foundation, would want to fill that position with Gov. Hassan.”
“Unfortunately we have seen no independent analysis that shows any kind of improvement in academic achievement since all of the federal reforms were put in place,” Banfield adds. “Instead we hear about schools like Pittsfield where they’ve implemented the federal reforms but graduates and school board members admit the school is broken.”
Achieve has been a recipient of funds from the Gates Foundation for years. Examples include a grant of $7.7 million in May of 2004 “to assist and encourage specific states to adopt high school graduation requirements that align with college entry requirements.” In February of 2008, the education group also received over $12.6 million in support of its American Diploma Project.
In 2012, Achieve received a grant in the amount of $9,297,699 from the Gates Foundation “to strengthen and expand the ADP Network, provide more support to states for CCSS [Common Core State Standards] implementation, and build strategic national and statewide alliances by engaging directly with key stakeholders.” That same year, the nonprofit received another $3.5 million “for general operating support” from the Gates Foundation.
Hassan joins Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) and Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam (R) on the Achieve board of directors.

CONCORD, N.H. — Officials in the state of New Hampshire have voted to defund the abortion giant Planned Parenthood on Wednesday, canceling its $650,000 contract.
The 3-2 party line vote by the State Executive Council comes as a result of a series of videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, showing that the organization harvests the organs of aborted babies donated by their mothers, and sells them to scientific companies who pay the organization the body parts.
The majority vote comes despite objections from Gov. Mary Hassan, who also released a statement decrying the decision.
“The council’s vote to defund Planned Parenthood will hurt the health and economic well-being of thousands of Granite Staters,” she said. “Moving forward, I will continue to fight to ensure that women and families have access to the important health services that are essential to the economic security and vitality of our families.”
But the the State Executive Council is calling for an investigation into Planned Parenthood, and the Republican State Committee is backing the proposition. The Committee is also requesting that funding be reallocated to other women’s health organizations.
“The appalling videos showing Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of human body parts have raised serious and legitimate concerns,” said Chair Jennifer Horn in a statement. “Instead of calling for an investigation of Planned Parenthood’s potentially criminal activity, Governor Hassan has turned a blind eye to this controversy and tried to give more taxpayer dollars to this scandal-plagued organization.”
“It’s time for Governor Hassan to put politics aside and work with the Commissioner of Health and Human Services and the Executive Council to identify alternative health care providers to cover the services that were included in this contract,” she stated.
The legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) also applauded the council for its move.
“The people of New Hampshire should not be forced to fund a billion-dollar corporation that was caught on camera negotiating the sale of baby body parts,” said ADF Senior Counsel Casey Mattox. “The New Hampshire Executive Council should therefore be commended for ending the use of state taxpayer dollars for such barbarism.”
“No one should miss the horrific reality of what Planned Parenthood does behind closed doors, as revealed in the recently released undercover videos,” he continued. “Our tax dollars should fund local public health clinics, not corporate welfare for Planned Parenthood. We join the call … for New Hampshire’s attorney general to thoroughly investigate Planned Parenthood.”
The state of New Hampshire has contracts with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England in the amount of $385,000; Planned Parenthood NNE-Claremont in the amount of $253,900; Weeks Medical Center in the amount of $117,100; Joan Lovering Health Center in the amount of $134,200; and Concord Feminist Health Center in the amount of $179,800.

Hassan Confronted on Cannabis Hypocrisy
at KSC Graduation 2015:
Published on May 9, 2015
This afternoon the hypocrite governor of New Hampshire spoke at Keene State College’s 2015 graduation ceremony. Maggie Hassan, the boss of the state’s executive branch, is likely to veto the cannabis decrim bill if it makes it through the NH senate. It already passed the NH house with a supermajority of votes. It’s clear that decriminalization is what the people of New Hampshire want (it’s also the humane choice), but Hassan throws her loyalty into the camp of the police and cares not one bit about the lives that continue to be ruined because of her inhumane war on pot.

Oh, and to make her position even more outrageous, it turns out she herself has used cannabis in her college days. That raging hypocrisy didn’t stop her from showing up at Keene State College and acting like she actually gives a damn about the very same students that her police regularly threaten and harass over victimless crimes like cannabis and alcohol possession. Rich Paul and I went down to KSC today to confront her on these things and were accompanied by local education activist Ed Bryans who was upset with Hassan’s veto of the anti-common core bill. We found her at the end of the commencement and had plenty of time to give her a hard time while she was unable to leave, much to the dismay of a few of her sycophants.

"HARE BRAINED":
Uploaded on Oct 27, 2011
Maggie Hassan wants to be New Hampshire's Governor. She promises the state "won't turn our back" on the people.

Really?

As a State Senator Maggie Hassan supported more than 80 tax and fee increases.

Including a new income tax on the small business owners who are the backbone of our economy.

According to the Associated Press, Maggie Hassan's new tax plan left small businesses "reeling."[1][1]

She called Republican opposition to an income tax just "a lot of noise."[2][2]

Hassan even hatched a harebrained scheme to have state bureaucrats take control of our hospitals[3][3]. Even the liberals in her own party rejected the idea in the Senate.

It's no wonder her constituents voted her out of office just last year.

The fact is New Hampshire's small businesses and working families can't afford Maggie Hassan and her rejected policies of bigger government and higher taxes.

QUOTE: "I was disgusted to read the governor’s veto statement, in which she cynically claims to support the second amendment, while in reality she marches in lock-step with the Obama administration and its relentless attempts to render the people helpless in the face of government’s ever-expanding powers."
"Her veto message quotes former Governor Mel Thomson who after visiting South Africa in 1978, praised the white-minority government and defended its apartheid policy. Thomson also openly threatened to veto all funding for the University of New Hampshire after the Gay Students Organization held a dance and performed a play on campus. SB 116 would have made optional NH’s license requirement to discreetly carry a firearm loaded outside of one’s home The law would have replaced the wholly subjective discretion given to local law enforcement to decide whether any NH citizen is a “suitable” person – allowing for the determination to be based on their ethnicity, race, gender, union or political affiliation – with one based on federal firearm statutes."

Video: Cop Draws Sidearm on Man for Filming
A California police officer drew his firearm on a man who was merely filming in his own neighborhood, in an intense moment caught on film.
The incident began last Wednesday when Rohnert Park resident Don McComas says he noticed an officer in a patrol vehicle observing him while he latched his boat onto his SUV.
“I stood up and just watched him,” McComas described. “He ever so slowly pulled away, circled the court opposite my house and then just parked facing my house. After an honest couple of minutes I pulled out my camera and pressed record.”
At the start of filming, the officer pulls into and stops in the middle of McComas’ cul-de-sac and appears to call in his license plate number.
The officer then proceeds to draw his cell phone and bizzarely begins to film McComas.
“He thinks he’s being funny now,” McComas comments.
“Go ahead and take your hand out of your pocket,” the unidentified officer upon exiting the cruiser orders McComas, who refuses saying, “No sir I’ve done absolutely nothing. No.”
The incident takes a serious turn when the officer removes his sidearm from his holster and begins approaching McComas menacingly.

“As minor as some would say it was, when I saw his gun gripped in his hand I really thought he was going to shoot me and claim my hand was in my pocket,” McComas says in the Youtube video description.
When McComas demands to know why the officer got out of his car, the officer replies, “You’re taking a picture of me, I’m taking a picture of you.”
The officer then argues he has the right to be on the sidewalk outside of the man’s house, as McComas expresses his family has been persistently harassed by police.
“What’s wrong with you, man?” the officer asks.
“Your station is corrupt,” McComas answers.
“Oh ok,” the officer says, before asking, “Are you some kind of a constitutionalist? Crazy guy or something like that?”
After cooling down, the officer walks back to his vehicle defeated, telling McComas to “go ahead and put it on Youtube.”
The video is sparking outrage, with many police accountability activist groups calling out the flagrant disregard for the rule of law and common decency.
“This is a blatant abuse of power and a disgrace to the man, as well as to the Rohnert Park Police Department if they choose to ignore their officers extreme methods,” Cop Block notes.
Yesterday, the mayor and city manager of the City of Rohnert Park released a statement saying they plan to “conduct an internal review to verify that appropriate protocols were followed.”
Message about video of Rohnert Park Public Safety Officer Posted Date: 8/4/2015 Regarding video of Rohnert Park Public Safety Officer:
We’ve been made aware of this matter and we are taking it seriously. We understand the concerns that have been raised by our community and others and we want the public to know that your trust in law enforcement in our City is a top priority. As a result, we will conduct an internal review to verify that appropriate protocols were followed. We will also review our protocols because we want to make sure we are using the best practices for the highest level of safety for both our officers and the community.
Mayor Amy Ahanotu and City Manager Darrin Jenkins
The department’s Facebook page was evidently deleted sometime yesterday. A cached version shows users began sharing the McComas confrontation on the page accompanied by comments which the department may have feared would tarnish their reputation.
“Thank you,” a message left by the department early Tuesday morning reads. “This has already been brought to our attention and will be responded to in due course. Take care.”
The Free Thought Project’s Matt Agorist highlights that a section of the California penal code regarding drawing a firearm in a “threatening manner” may have been violated by the officer.
“According to CAL. PEN. CODE § 417 : California Code – Section 417:
(2) Every person who, except in self-defense, in the presence of any other person, draws or exhibits any firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, in a rude, angry, or threatening manner, or who in any manner, unlawfully uses a firearm in any fight or quarrel is punishable as follows: (A) If the violation occurs in a public place and the firearm is a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person, by imprisonment in a county jail for not less than three months and not more than one year, by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment. (B) In all cases other than that set forth in subparagraph (A), a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not less than three months.

The Northern California Police officer, now identified as Dave Rodriguez by a city source, caught on video brandishing his weapon to a man who filmed the entire incident has been awarded temporary paid administrative leave. Assistant City Manager Don Schwartz said in a statement. "The city truly believes in community-oriented policing and deeply values the relationship between law enforcement and our community. The incident portrayed on the video is not a typical interaction between our public safety officers and the public,"

The officer then argues he has the right to be on the sidewalk outside of the man’s house, as McComas expresses his family has been persistently harassed by police.

“Your station is corrupt,” McComas answers.
“Oh ok,” the officer says, before asking, “Are you some kind of a constitutionalist? Crazy guy or something like that?”
And what if he was a Constitutionalist? Someone that believes in the founding principals that the officer should have swore an oath on? Isn’t every oath abiding police officer a Constitutionalist?
